How it began..

I highly recommend this shop! If you don't mind going into a food coma! They were not good, They were DAMN GOOD!!! You better believe I ate every tiny seed that fell from my bagels!! The worst part of my experience was that I was kind enough to share with others so they could taste how amazing they are too!!! I couldn't wait so while my bagel was toasting I ate some of the blueberry rectuffin! I get it now! Wow! Spot on!! 10/10 no 1000/10 would definitely eat again!!! Are we here for this? Yes we're here for it all!!! The package I requested contained one sesame bagel one everything bagel and a blueberry rectuffin. Auto-correct asks what is rectuffin well it's a rectangle muffin.. so what does that mean for you? A bigger muffin. Oh yeah! For the sesame bagel I chose to top with strawberry cream smear, what a sweet treat. Then I tried the everything bagel with a vegetable smear! Absolutely fabulous! Toasted them perfectly smothered in creamy smear they could not have been any better! Honestly I highly recommend these company for your gluten free bagels, there are a few others locally that are attempting to create the same sort of experience but I feel they can't be compared! Salty Bagels are big and bready with the right amount of chew as a traditional bagel. If you mixed them in with traditional bagels I don't think anyone would notice any difference. I look forward to trying all of the products available. Great work Salty! See you soon! Thank you for Yelp! For setting up this fantastic find. Big thanks to Michael, the owner for graciously making the drive to deliver them to me in person! I love hearing about these new small businesses in our small community it's such a great feeling to meet new people that are following their passions! Best of luck to Salty Bagel. Cheers!

Finally a place in SLO County dedicated to bagels!! Being an East Coast native, it can be hard to find a decent bagel in California. I have searched high and low around the coast and along came Salty Bagel. Salty Bagel is a brand new bagel shop that is dedicated the best breakfast food around. This small mom-and-pop shop is exactly what our community needed. The owner is a celiac and is dedicated to bringing more gluten free options to the coast. Due to the lack of gluten, the bagel is perfectly crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. I was in heaven! They come in a variety of flavors and are made to order, so you know you are getting the freshest product. Right now they only operate as home delivery or at pop ups. You can order them on Harvestly (another amazing local business) to get your hands on one. Highly recommend Salty Bagel for all celiacs and not celiacs alike!

Ask the Community - Salty Bagel

Where is this place located? I can't find an address for this place and would love to try it.

They don't have a physical store! You can order delivery (go to their website) or find them at Farmers Markets (I'd recommend finding them on Instagram to find out where they'll be and when) to buy from them.

Love the unique combos that you can't really get at the grocery store. We're on our way to Hearst Castle to stop by for a quick bite and this place did not disappoint. My boyfriend got a cinnamon roll and we split the Italian Grinder. Both were so fresh and the ingredients seemed top notch. So glad we had an opportunity to try this bakery!

It wasn't the quickest option because there was one person rolling dough off to the side and one person handling everything else including making the food and taking orders, so I would expect to wait. If you have the time though, the breakfast bagel sandwiches were good and they also have a chocolate zucchini loaf that we also bought. The bagels tasted fresh and the sandwiches were very filling. I didn't add anything to my bagel (beyond the cream cheese, tomato, and avocado that was included in the breakfast bagel), but my boyfriend added bacon and it was a generous amount. The chocolate zucchini loaf is honestly more of a cake and quite a bit sweeter than other zucchini bread I've tried. If you're looking for a denser chocolate cake with little flecks of green, it's great. They also offered samples, and we bought the chocolate zucchini loaf because we enjoyed the sample. There isn't anywhere to sit inside but there are a couple of tables outside on the patio. Only a couple of them had umbrellas, and unfortunately we were at one without an umbrella, but it wasn't too bad since it was earlier in the day. This is definitely a more casual place, and worth going to if you have some extra time to spend and it's convenient to you.

Should Have Known Better…read more.... I've been to the Nautical Bean on Los Osos Valley Road a few times since my review in March 2026 and each visit earned 4 or 5 stars. Not bad! But I went back on Monday, June 8th and had a very different experience. I ordered 2 small cups of hot chai with extra foam, extra hot and 1/2 sweet. When they were done, both were "heavy" meaning they felt like there was no foam. I checked and yup...no foam. I mentioned it to the barista who said "no problem. I'll do them over". They were done quickly, but still felt "heavy". I didn't want to go back and figured "it's just me". I got into my car and tried one. It was 90% the same as before. She simply scraped a sliver of the drink off the top and added a touch of foam. Plus...the liquid was "thin" meaning she nearly scalded the drink to get it hot. The 2nd chai was the same way. And the shop wasn't even busy at the time. Everyone at the Nautical Bean is friendly and the vibe is great, but next time I'll take my own advice...even if that means going back to the barista twice to get things right.

Oh, one not so good thing, no more BAGEL DOGS! Robert B. /Business Mgr, bring Bagel Dogs back please! Okay...Saul is gone, BUT a new STAR is born, yep... it's Matt. Matt/Mgr. is all about pleasing the Customer...going above and beyond in Customer Service! Pleasant, professional with a smile on his face...I hope to see Matt for years to come. Thank-you Matt for making my Einstein Bros. Bagels visit one to remember. As we discussed, I can buy a Bagel anywhere...but your customer service is what makes the Patron return again and again. The decor is spartan yet appealing. They sell various food products (seems like more than before) like Cheeses, Cold Cut Meats, Hummus and Wraps. Some Produce, fresh cut Flowers, House Plants, Milk, Eggs, Chips, Cookies in an Einstein Bros. Bagels Cup, Drinks and various ready to eat dishes. And of course...there's the Bagels (all kinds of 'em...but get there early, cause they go fast), Eggs Sandwiches (on a Bagel), Signature Lunch Sandwiches (on a Bagel), Cold Brew Drinks, Coffees and Espresso beverages. I decided on and ordered the All-Nighter (5/5). Two Cage-Free Eggs, Bacon, Two Slices American Cheese, Smoky Chipotle Aioli on a Cheesy Hash Brown Gourmet Bagel. FREAKIN WOW!!! This "monster of a Bagel Egg Sandwich"is a must try. Literally blew me away. Nothing about this location detracted from my fabulous repeat experience (except no Bagel Dogs...I would have bought several to go, regardless of cost, because alas...no one seems to have them anymore) and so on this occasion, in this Yelper's opinion...Einstein Bros. Bagels in SLO truly earned this "highly recommend" 5Star review! Thank-you Matt and all Associates for being Einstein Bros. Bagels FABULOUS!

It only takes 3-4 people deep and you're out the door waiting to order watching the patio goers eat. There should've been an offset inside, or another method. People are half-in/half-out the doors, awkward and a no-goer. The HOB's self-placed photos are taken from the doorway and show this space issue. 2. There's a 'bread-making' service of sorts where people can learn to make bread or other items taught by staff. It's a show of sorts, all fun of course - Until this happens - Watching the food preppers, they're disorganized and G.E.D. grads at best - They dumped the utensils directly onto the plate and into my pancake syrup and served the plate like this without a clue. In addition, due to the disorganization of the preppers, the food is not delivered hot; a deal-killer for breakfast food. I would ditch the side-show bread theater until the preppers are trained well, or hire better perhaps. 3. It is a nice atmosphere for sure; but these organic issues are hard to ignore. There does not seem to be awareness by the staff that the entrance is problematic; and complete unawareness of the unaware food preppers and their competency. Food is good, place is clean, potential is great, superb airport proximity. More attention please and stars will go up in a hurry.
