The Sunday Brunch is always good. Menu changes each week-they post each upcoming week on their Facebook page. And it's delish. The other days of the week are so-so. The wait staff is pleasant but service is slow and I haven't figured out if the tables are too high or chairs too low but the seating can be uncomfortable. Saluda River Grill was a great place for drinks and dinner with friends. This is a nicely renovated mill with a perfect location and a friendly staff. Clearly the owners are trying to provide a quality menu that ranges from apps and sandwiches to quality entrees. After several visits, this is our go to local restaurant because it is rarely crowded to the point that you have to wait and even when there is a crowd, there is room at the bar. In short, if you aren't up for a trip to downtown Greenville but want a great atmosphere- it's a solid choice. The artichoke dip is a great starter. read more

Good food. A little pricey. I ordered a double rum and coke and I cannot taste rum at all. I had the waitriss to add another shot and it has a little flavor. Its 4.5 dollars a shot. I will not order any drinks the next time if I come back. Maybe they can't afford to provide descent drinks because they have 5 staff members jaw jacking instead of working, not counting the cooks. After reading mixed reviews on Yelp we figured we could give this a try because we thought maybe the bad reviews were total foodies or snobby people. We were wrong. The positives were that the building was really cool with exposed brick and beautiful chandeliers. The workers were also really sweet. We got the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and they were pretty good (not the best I've ever had but also not the worst), but we had to wait 45 minutes to get them even though we ordered them the minute we got sat. We had to wait another half an hour to get our entrees (steaks) which we both ordered medium-rare. My fiancé's steak, the filet, was okay with good Mac and cheese and yummy mashed potatoes as sides. My steak, the New York strip, was the worst steak I've ever had. It came out charred on the outside and medium well to well done in the middle. It was so tough I could barely cut it, it was like rubber. At least I had decent Mac and cheese and hush puppies to fill me up. Overall, the food was decent but because of waiting for over an hour to get our entree and having that horrible steak I am giving it two stars. They should get a new chef for the steaks if they want to call themselves a "Grill". read more

Very cool building in a sup rising place. I had heard this place was great so we gave it a try this weekend. First off, the wait staff seems to need training. Our waitress, who was new so I will give her that, had no clue what the bar had in stock. We ordered various drinks, nothing abnormal, and were repeatedly told they did not have that at the bar...only after walking over to ask the bartender. Not once did this happen, not twice, but three times! Maybe it was not her fault, maybe management needs to expand the bar selection. Anyway, we looked past that. Ordered appetizers (mussels) which were delicious and delivered relatively timely..after two other appetizers were delivered to our table incorrectly. Main course was delicious and served at proper temperature (prime rib) but again, only after the incorrect order was attempted to be delivered to our table...twice. While my meal was outstanding, my wife was not all that impressed with hers (grouper) as she said it lacked flavor of any kind. Overall, menu selection good, food was good - not great - but service was just blah. I will give our waitress credit she was sweet and tried her best, but management failed her due to poor training...in my opinion. I will go back but not ready to recommend just yet. He had no problem telling me I was wrong when I said the shrimp and grits had no taste. He basically laughed in my face. This restaurant is located in an old mill along the Saluda river in Piedmont. If you blink you might miss it. They currently don't have a website but do have a Facebook page that is updated for their evening specials and Sunday brunch. Starting off with the appetizers the Fried Green Tomatoes ($6) are crispy and topped with pimento cheese and red pepper sauce. I'd prefer them without the pimento cheese which overpowers the delicate tomatoes underneath. The Steamed Mussels are my favorite ($9). A generous portion of steamed mussels in a white wine butter sauce with scallions and toasted bread points. After you finish off these délicate creatures you'll enjoy the broth as a side soup all on its own. I've already asked the staff to consider this as an option. All of the sale dressings are made in house and they make the best ranch dressing I've ever had. The shrimp 'n' grits ($17) are popular and the couple of times I've had them I take the leftover grits home to use in breakfast the next morning. No lack of shrimp here but the gravy they use for the grits is almost a sausage gravy you would expect on top of biscuits. The meat selection though is what keeps me coming back. The Filet Mignon ($19) is around 9 oz and always cooked to my liking. The Prime Rib ($17 for 10 oz, $19 for 14 oz) is a thick cut juicy slab of meat. My only problem is no horseradish or au jus to go along with it but is is flavorful on its own. Better act quickly they usually sell out. The Key Lime Pie is enough for two people to share and is one of the best I've had. Ford's Oyster Bar in Greenville and The Lobster House in Cozumel are thé only places I've had better. It's made with a graham cracker crust and a true key lime custard that is delicate and decadent. Saluda River Grill is worth the drive from Greenville and Easley. Just Google the location first so you don't get lost. A truly great off the beaten path find. read more

This place is a complete joke. My wife and I are relatively close to this restaurant, so we have been way more that forgiving, due to convenience. Thay can't seem to get one meal right. I ordered the prime rib, string beans and sautéed mushrooms. The prime rib was not only under cooked, but cold from sitting and waiting on a cold plate. The string beans, over cooked and mushy. They also added some kind of herb that is normally not present to this side dish. Sautéed mushrooms in a dish of broth??? What is that? Besides just out of a can and warmed up? The manager Jaime Knight had an attitude about my meal going back. Very snobby, and unattentive to a customer's needs, plight. ... We will never go back again. We've given this place way too many chances. Their business has gone down hill considerably in the past 2 years. Quite honestly, no wonder. The food is not good, and inconsistent. The waitress was very nive and has always been. But this Jaime Knight and the husband and wife owners, are a recipe for failure, and the dropping clientele is a reflection of such. This restaurant is quite unique in the little town it is in. Housed in an old Mill, it really has the right feel for the area. The food is pretty good, but like stated by someone else before, the bar help needs lots more training. I sent my drink back twice and finally on the third time (after telling them exactly how to make it) they got it right. It was only a Manhatten -- 3 simple ingredients. Last night we went with another couple. Our order was well over $100 and included a bottle of wine and two cocktails. We requested ice water and were told that they CHARGED for that and the waitress wasn't even sure how much it was. Piedmont is NOT New York City. We didn't request anything that wouldn't come right out of the tap in their kitchen (or rest room faucet for that matter).Since the population is older and so is the majority of their clientele, I wonder just how many people are aware of this charge. After all, people of my generation and all the ones before us have always received complimentary ice water. I made a comment about this on their facebook page and it was deleted practically as fast as it appeared. They can't take criticism I guess. Try erasing this comment Saluda River!! read more

Went with 4 other people, before 7pm they ran out of 1 of their popular dishes (shrimp and grits), waitress not the friendliest, but maybe posed at poor management planning, Rob eye steaks were delivered cold. Asked waitress "what the chef liked to cook the most" i got an honest but disappointing answer, "what ever is quick". Looked forward to getting key lime pie, but waitress never asked us if we wanted dessert and just delivered check. So we left. Biggest observed problem was poor management leading to poor attitudes of employees. Not worth a follow up trip until something drastic is done. read more

Great place to eat. I love the Grilled Salmon. Their seafood bisque is amazing but it's like fishing to catch a day that they have it. Just called to see what today's soup of the day is and the answer was "black bean something". ARGH!! They really need to have it every day! My girlfriend and I have been here a couple of times and the food is pretty good. The atmosphere and decor is great. The chairs are big and comfortable. Makes me feel like I'm sitting at the adult table. My review is going to be a bit nitpicky, but I have to ask why there wasn't real butter available for my baked potato or bread? I grew up with margarine, but paying adult prices and sitting at the adult table should round out with adult-level butter and not some sort of cheap Country Crock. Otherwise, the fried pickles we had as an appetizer were very good, as was the NY Strip I had and the grilled steak salad she had. I ordered the ribeye and it was the worst steak I've ever had. I couldn't even eat it,full of grissell and very tuff. The more I think about it I'm pretty sure it wasn't a ribeye at all. Complained and was offered a free desert,which I declined. I was surprised they didn't take it off of the check. We were with a group of people from my wife's work.
