A quick lunch stop in the heart of Hartford led me to Salute. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome. They weren't just friendly--they seemed truly grateful for my business, and that kind of hospitality goes a long way. My waitress talked me into ordering a mocktail, which was definitely not on my radar when I sat down. I'm glad she did. It was refreshing, flavorful, and honestly made me wonder why I haven't been seeking out mocktails more often. I kicked things off with the garlic cheesy bread. I mean... how can you go wrong? Thick, chewy bread loaded with garlic and plenty of melty cheese. It was everything I wanted it to be. My only warning: if you're dining solo, don't underestimate how filling it is--especially if you're planning to tackle one of their massive pasta dishes afterward. For my entrée, I ordered the Rose: four-cheese tortellini with sausage, mushrooms, and spinach in a tomato cream sauce. This dish absolutely hits all the right notes. Light and not at all overwhelming, but packed with flavor, and loaded with ingredients in every bite. And when they say generous portions, they mean it. This bowl is enormous. Walking out, there wasn't a single doubt in my mind--I made the right choice coming to Salute. Great hospitality, excellent food, and portions that'll make sure you're not leaving hungry. If you're in Hartford and craving Italian, this is a place that's well worth the visit.

The staff was so kind to me as a single lady on a business trip. They greeted me warmly and offered specialties to try. The Caesar salad was great Ava the rose tortellini dish was very tasty. It was piping hot which was great, but the tortellinis were a little too soft. The atmosphere was great and I would definitely return to try the chicken Parmesan or vodka pasta! Get some biscotti and coffee for dessert.. so good?

Spent a friend's birthday here and had a solid experience. We also went after a basketball game, so definitely recommend having a reservation on busier days in Hartford. The pasta was delicious and portions were very generous, enough for leftovers for sure. I would definitely return if I'm looking for Italian food in the area. The servers were also very kind and relatively quick, acknowledging our birthday celebration which made the experience feel more personal. The only thing I was a bit disappointed with was the fact that we were sitting about a foot from a sliding door, a small oversight that made a big difference in the winter!

Went to Salute on a Friday night without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to get a table for five within five minutes. That said, it was clearly busy, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation on peak nights--we got lucky. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our waiters were very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Portions are generous. The cheesy bread appetizer is a must-order--warm and perfect for sharing I ordered the cod and salmon, and both were absolutely delicious, cooked well and full of flavor. The wine selection is also strong, with plenty of good options to pair with the meal. Overall, a great Italian spot with great food, service, and atmosphere. I would happily go back.

This place was incredible! My son found this on the way from New Haven to Hartford. Calamari, pesto chicken gnocchi, chicken Parmesan and their special Mac and cheese was all excellent! Great flavor! Huge portions! Fair prices. Wish we had one of these in Fresno.

My wife's birthday dinner was amazing!

We told them we had a concert to get to (up the street) so they sat us quickly. Recommended a few plates that were quicker to make and the food was amazing! Drinks were great also. This isn't Olive Garden. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the experience!

Wow wow wow. What an amazing experience at Salute. Stopped here before seeing a show at the theater nearby. Didn't think we would need reservations for a Tuesday evening. Walked in and it was packed! A whole section was closed off for a private event. The host asked us right away if we were seeing a show and sat us in the bar area. We were quickly attended to and orders taken. Good happy hour deals. We all got different drinks and each one was superb. Warm, fresh, crusty bread. The entrees came out so quickly and blazing hot. We couldn't believe the portion sizes. Pasta Al la vodka was great. Pesto chicken gnocchi was delicious. Sister in law has celiac and the staff was very accommodating to make sure she didn't get cross contamination. We were checked on frequently, staff was SO friendly. They quickly packed up our leftovers so we could make it to the show. They even gave us a little dessert for my husband who I said was going to get my leftovers! 10/10 service and food. Can't wait to come again.

A classic staple in Hartford. The owners used to own Hot Tomatoes back in the day IKYKY and have taken some of their recipes with them. Went on a recent evening after work and check out these happy hour deals! The calamari was crispy and the well seasoned. Of course I had to get the garlic bread and it was just as good as I remember it to be. Great place to go after work for all my Hartford peeps.

My girlfriend and my trip to Salute for our 2 year anniversary was stellar- from start to finish. I'll get all the basic stuff out of the way first. The food, fantastic. I got the pasta à la vodka with chicken, and my girlfriend got the pesto gnocchi chicken dish. Everything came fast, warm, and fresh- cooked to perfection. We also got the cheese garlic bread as a starter, which was delicious and the perfect size as to not spoil your dinner. Finally, we split an order of the chocolate lava cake which was one of the tastiest desserts I'd ever had. Now, onto the even more impressive details. First things first, calling in, and then changing the time for our reservation was very easy, and the man who picked up the phone seemed very excited to have us coming in to the restaurant. Upon arrival, it was clear the host (Jimmy) was the same person on the phone, as he remembered my name and was immediately incredibly hospitable and friendly. Jimmy asked me and my girlfriend how long we'd been together, and we told him "2 years today!" This at first seemed like typical small talk on the way to the table (which I should mention was arguably the best seat in the house, a table right by the front window in a nice quiet area of the restaurant), but I was quite impressed when the first thing our server, Vincent, said to us a few minutes later was "Happy anniversary." Vincent was very helpful and made sure to circle by our table frequently enough to make sure we had everything we needed, but not to the point where it was unnecessary- perfect!! As you can see in the attached image, our lava cake came with a nice happy anniversary message, and I'd like to remind you that this was all just from us mentioning it to Jimmy, once on our way in. We were treated to some goodies to take home separate from what we ordered, as well as a nice half off discount on the parking lot up the street. And it was to my great surprise and graciousness that when I peeked at the bill, our dessert was missing- based on the service we received, I would be surprised if this was a mistake. In summary, our trip to Salute was nothing short of a 5 star review. Excellent food, clean bathrooms, calm and friendly atmosphere, and I do not understate this when I say that the service was IMPECCABLE. Thank you very much to Jimmy, Vincent, and Salute as a whole for a wonderful evening- we will be back.

A smiling Jimmy greets every patron! I believe he is owner, and that extra gesture is really appreciated. We are also provided with a bag of homemade biscotti when we left. Those touches separate a good restaurant from a great one! The shrimp pasta had spicy sausage and just enough heat. The highlight of the food was the cheesy garlic bread. Do not pass that up! When in downtown Hartford this should be a go to spot before theater. They take note you have a show and make sure to get you out on time.

    Perfect cosmo.

Incase you missed the memo this is where you can find amazing hot tomato garlic bread and tortellini rose..., nuff said. Oh and btw - if you attend post show like Hartford stage - show discounts applied. AND you will most likely see cast post show , coool stuff and ask for Betsy. She makes the absolute best Cosmopolitan this side of Manhatten.

I live the nice music in here. It's very livel! It's Happy Hour from 3-7 on weekdays (food) and all day for drinks on Monday! The kitchen here makes everything built fresh, from scratch, and all homemade. The appetizers, pasta, entrees and desserts combine old-world traditional Italian flavor with a modern flair for presentation, and the freshest ingredients around. Menu staples like calamari, chicken milanese, fettucine carbonara and ravioli are paired with unique recipes like pappardelle with sausage and tenderloin steaks. They have staffed their kitchen with a dream team of local chefs that ensure our quality does not waiver and our kitchen is always OPEN! Not every place can say that! For my first drink, I'm having the Manhattan's Creek made with Knob Creek bourbon, sweet vermouth, dry vermouth and Angostura bitters. Wait a minute! These are the same ingredients as a Perfect Manhattan! This is chilled, well balanced and nicely garnished. I like it! For my first food item, I'm having a House Salad (small, off-menu version). This is made with a spring mix including basil, tomatoes, julienned carrots, cucumbers and a red wine vinaigrette dressing. This is nice and fresh! I love the dressing! I like the nice cloth napkin as well as a disposable one. The bartender is the nicest one I've ever met. For my next item, I'm having the Rigatoni Marinara. The is made with rigatoni and house marinara sauce. It's low cholesterol and guilt-free (for me). This is steaming hot and delicious! Nice portion size too! For my next item, I'm having a cup of soup. This is broccoli cheddar with potato. Oh yeah! I love those oyster crackers! This is yummy! For my next drink, I'm having the Pratt n Whiskey made with Woodford Reserve bourbon, sweet vermouth, red wine and sour mix. I love it! It's shaken well and tastes great! For my next food item, I'm having the Carmine's Secret Tenderloins. These are actually pan seared caramelized CHICKEN tenderloins made with wine, olive oil, cracked black pepper, kosher salt, shredded Parmesan and a VERY special secret sauce. I can eat this with little regret. This should be interesting! This is quite good! I do like that creamy sauce! For my dessert, I'm having the Toasted Almond. This is soaked in Amaretto layered with light custard and topped with crushed almond. Oh yeah! Look at the presentation! This is fantastic! What a great meal here!

"Rose darling come to me All I ask of you…read moreIs make my wildest dreams come true" (Steely Dan) You probably don't need a PHD in linguistics to surmise that the Italian words "La Rosa" translates into the English words "The Rose". And if your wildest dreams happen to revolve around Italian comfort foods and well stacked sandwiches, well, do I have a place to make those wildest dreams come true for you! La Rosa is your quintessential Italian deli with dozens of grinders, paninis, wraps, salads, soups and a daily hot bar of pasta and chicken entrees. We ordered a grilled Panino Melenzani ($12) with eggplant, tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil and olive oil. It was grilled right in front of our eyes, so it was as fresh as could be. It had plenty of tender sliced eggplant, yummy cheese and fresh tomatoes. I went with my usual, an Italian Combo (half size for $14) stacked a mile high with Ham, Turkey, Genoa, Mortadella, Capicola, and Provolone with lettuce, tomato, onions, and peppers on a fresh loaf of Italian bread. It was superb, and the portion size was so generous that it lasted me for three lunches. As we were paying, we spied some home-made cookies by the register and grabbed an oatmeal and a chocolate chip to take home. Everything ran $32 for a ton of wonderful Italian goodness. We didn't get a chance to check out the hot bar. It wasn't open today because LaRosa's Marketplace was closing early for personal reasons. But I promise you, the next time we visit we'll leave with one of their chicken or pasta entrees. We love our Italian delis, and LaRosa's has immediately shot up into our top tier.
