We had an absolutely amazing meal from start to finish. Highly recommend every single dish that we had, as well as the drinks. Enjoyed a very affordable and mind-blowing $60 bottle of Montepulciano wine as well! I am gluten free, and our waiter was very clear to let me know which items on the menu contained gluten and even made a note on our order with the kitchen so that nothing would get overlooked. I really appreciated the extra care and attention to detail. If you go here for a nice date night, just go all in. We are very happy that we did - we ordered appetizers and cocktails to start. The prawns with polenta and orange amaretto reduction was AMAZING, as well as the meatballs (gluten so I didn't try them, but my husband raved about them being delicious as well as the sauce with them). Next, we shared an order of the spicy sausage arrabiatta pasta (made with GF pasta). It was super flavorful and felt like it had been cooked for a full day. As if we weren't already full enough (the portions are a great size for upscale cuisine), we ordered our entrees. I got the filet mignon as that was really the only option (other than pasta) that was gluten free. Although I didn't have much of a choice, I do not regret it one bit. My steak was cooked perfectly was served with the creamiest delicious mashed potatoes and delicious asparagus. My husband ordered the lamb osso bucco which blew him away with flavor and how tender it was. Highly recommend both dishes. We finished off with the tiramisu for my husband, and the special flourless chocolate cake for me. As I am GF I've had just about a million and one flourless chocolate cakes, but this was very special. It was incredibly light, and layered with fresh raspberries and whipped cream. Every bite and drink that we enjoyed was delicious, and it really seems like they try to add something extra special and unique to every single dish. We will definitely be back to Salute! read more

The food was amazing. Our waiter, Tim, was phenomenal. The only reason this place did not get a 5-star review was due to the behavior of their hostess. I had initially booked a table for 7 but due to a death in the family, three of us canceled at the last minute. That left us with four for dinner. We did not get a chance to explain what happened because the hostess had a meltdown. The hostess's reaction was similar to that of a petulant two-year-old child. Rude is an understatement. Loud muttered negative comments directed at us really ruined the ambiance. Cruella, as I "fondly" call her, was a complete fly in the ointment and cast a dark pall on what should have been a great dinner. Everytime single time this place is amazing . I was unsure about the polenta with Marsala but it was amazing. The service, the atmosphere , the food. Worth figuring out how to get in the tricky door situation. We've never been disappointed here . Also get the Caesar and a desert because both will be the best you're ever had . read more

Had a great experience at Salute! We had the middle table at the window (best seats FYI). Rachel was our server and honestly one of the best servers I've ever had. So positive and happy, it was infectious haha! We started with drinks and appetizers. The Little Sicily cocktail was delicious! I ended up having two that evening. Wife and I shared the Antipasto Misto appetizer. Amazing! Recommend putting fig jelly, cheese and a meat on the bread. Sooo good! We then shared the Asparagus Bisque. I originally ordered this for myself but at Rachel's recommendation we started dipping our bread in it. Excellent call because it was great. We then proceeded to dinner. We ordered Seafood Pesto and Hand Made Ravioli and enjoyed both immensely! Finally for dessert we had the Cannoli and we were not disappointed! The first time we came to Salutè was in January 2020 and we were sooo impressed. We finally got to go back to celebrate our 3 year anniversary, and we were so beyond stoked with our meals. If you want the most authentic Italian food you can get in Bend, GO HERE! Hands down the BEST ITALIAN FOOD!!!!! The scallops and butternut squash risotto were to die for, and my boyfriend had the seafood pesto pasta. We devoured everything. Both amazing dishes. We just left Salute which was recommended by my brother and he was on point. Ryan, our server, was super friendly, funny and on task. I got the Shrimp Scampi and it was fantastic. Very lite not drenched in butter but the flavors really stood out. The pasta part of the meal was lite too and had a fantastic herb flavor. Super good!! Decided to give this place a try during our weekend in Bend. We met up with some friends and made a reservation on Open table on a Saturday. From what we overheard from the staff, some of the diners were "camping out" at their tables. We sat at the bar (also small) and had a drink. This was the last dinner of our week long roadtrip through Oregon and I had my usual before dinner Old Fashioned. Well, this one was the best of the trip! Perfectly mixed with a single, large ice cube...well done! After about 5-10 minutes at the bar, we were seated at our table. Before dinner, my wife had the caprese salad and I had the meatball appetizer. Both were VERY GOOD! Outstanding sauce with the meatballs! For our entrees, I had the spaghetti carbonara special and my wife had the capellini and prawns; both made to perfection! We each had a glass of house chianti with our meal, selected by the server....excellent pairing! First time at the new restaurant and am very happy we tried it tonight. We showed up early but they sat us right away. Food was very good and the staff was wonderful. The manager made sure to stop by and make sure everything was to our liking. We shared scallops and bruschetta appetizers and both were great. Bruschetta was eggplant and I could make a meal of it alone. The wife and I had Chicken Marsala and the Osso Bucco both were very good with great flavor. Heard about this place randomly from a friend and decided to go on a date here and it did not disappoint! The food, drinks and service were all fantastic. We were greeted upon arrival and shown to a nice booth near the front window. Our server, Ryan, was very attentive, friendly, and efficient. I had the meatball appetizer (5 little meatballs on a nice sauce) and my husband had the caesar salad. Both were good. Our main meals were excellent. My husband had the Chicken Marsala which had a really tasty, and the cream sauce was nice and light. My homemade Ravioli of the day (4 cheese) with the meat sauce was also great. Good portions on both. The restaurant was pretty noisy as it was full, so if you are looking for quiet conversation you might want to reconsider. We started out with a couple of Aperol Spritz and the beef carpaccio. The carpaccio was exquisite, better than several places we had it in Italy. Definitely worth trying. Ribeye and shrimp scampi were good but did not stand out. We finished up with the tiramisu and it was delicious. Service was passable but not great. Salute! As a toast, it means "to your health" in Italian. We wandered in after a movie, but it was packed, and we had no rez. We sat at the small bar, enjoying the busy buzz of this smallish, (12 tables and booths) eatery on Bond street downtown Bend. Friendly help made us feel comfortable, eating at the small but nicely appointed open-seating bar area. A well designed menu offered a dozen pasta dishes, and traditional meat fare, short ribs, lamb Osso bucco,etc and interesting apps, like prawns amaretto, scallops and pancetta etc. We enjoined munching on oil and basaltic-dipped sour dough before the food arrived, and we selected a nice Italian vintage wine from their extensive electronic tablet wine list (hard copy also available for us older ones)! My spaghetti special carbonara was amazing, crisp pancetta, roasted garlic, fresh herbs...and my companions house-made ravioli spinach Alfredo, was simply perfect. Went by for a special night with my girlfriend. We were celebrating her recent work accomplishments and have heard good things about the "new place downtown". Location is one that has struggled in the past. Several restaurants have been in and out in the last year. Arriving we were sat quickly. Service was a little slow. Took a while to get drinks although our server checked on us quite a bit. We both had pasta dishes and they tasted fine. For the price we thought the portions would have been a little larger. Overall we thought it was extremely average which is the reason for the three star review. Give it a try and see what you think. read more

Exactly what this little downtown needed! Real, authentic Italian food! And it's a place I can go on a date night, or just swing by after work for dinner at the bar. It's got these cute vintage Italian posters on the wall, so it's very inviting - not stuffy at all! I highly recommend the carbonara. I'm craving it again already. Plus it has a full bar with friendly bartenders who actually know what they're doing. I'm planning on trying everything on the menu. It's a little hard to find, because you have to go down a hallway to the second door. It's also got shared bathrooms with the business next door, but they're maintained. read more

We had a lovely experience at Salute celebrating my wifes big night! The ambiance is intimate and the decor and tables are wonderfully set. We started with some delicious signature cocktails with great garnishes. The meal prepared by Chef de Cuisine Erich Fosbury was our absolute favorite part. Our Ceasar Salad was one of the best we've had in a long time. The Chanterelle Mushroom Risotto was tremendously flavored and cooked to perfection. The Orecchiette Sausage Ragu & Truffles was greatly appreciated as well. Then came desert... what a beautiful finale to a delightful meal. Chef prepared a meticulously arranged Chocolate Mousse with Hazelnut and Cherry. Ohhhh my....it was delicious. Our server Rachel and her assistant Laura attended to us with the utmost care. A wonderful Italian eatery that just opened in downtown Bend. My wife and I decided to check it out, we were immediately seated, despite not having a reservation. Excellent service all around, our waiter took the time to speak to us about the restaurant and how excited they were, and to talk about their wine selection. We split a caprese salad, I had the chicken marsala, which was cooked to absolute perfection. My wife had the ravioli and couldn't stop raving about it. This was our first visit to Salute and what a great visit it was! This tiny place has everything going for it. The staff was super friendly, their res system spot on and the FOOD the best Italian we've found in Bend. We had 4 different dishes and each was delicious in its own way. Someone forgot to bring our Caesar salad before the main,(which we didn't notice) and as our waiter set down the mains he realized it and got the Caesar. As he set it down he said, "this is on us". Although we didn't think that was necessary we really appreciated that kind of awesome customer service. Another important note is that the delivery of the 4 plates was done by two people all at the same time. The food was piping hot and no one had to wait for all to be served.
