Maria was very helpful over the phone and called in advance of Salvador coming out to do work which was extremely courteous. We had his crew pull some saplings and old bushes that would've taken us days to take out. Looking at the yard, you would never know the saplings and bushes were ever there - they pulled everything down to the roots! Then they raked over the area to make sure the ground was level. So I called about my crab grass and eventhough I did not use them they were very helpfull over the phone. Maria said thet they were busy and couldn't come out for few weeks, but she explained what steps to take to help manage it. We found Salvador on Yelp with the help of other's reviews. He paved our entire back courtyard and the front too. He and his crew did a beautiful job and the pavers curve slightly and slope down for drainage purposes that are downright gorgeous. We love it! I never wrote an online review before, but after finding Salvador 's Landscaping through Yelp, I could not let my backyard project be completed without giving Salvador the 5-star review he truly deserves. I called several contractors to look at building a small patio and brick walkway and landscape the backyard. Salvador came out quickly and did not laugh when I handed him the quick design my husband and I jotted down on paper. He came back to me a week later with a fair price and a drawing that captured the exact vision we had for the backyard. And the story only gets better .... In less than one week, Salvador turned my sad little backyard into something that looks like a magazine photo. His brickwork was absolute perfection, looking exactly like one of those fancy stone paver marketing books. We could not believe the quality and precision of the bricklaying. The tree and shrubs he brought in were just gorgeous, and the final project far exceeded my expectations. Salvador was very accommodating when small changes were made to the project, and every last perfect detail was carried out by Salvador and his staff. We have never had a construction project go more smoothly. Salvador is a true professional, and he and his staff do the type of work that customers hope for, but don't always get. I agree with B. My bill jumped from $100 in 2014 to $225 2015 for the same service. My neighbor and husband both said they worked 40 minutes and Maria in the office insisted they were here 1 hr 15 and implied my husband and neighbor are liars according to her GPS. Just because a truck is in the neighborhood does not mean they are working. Would not recommend this company and the clean up was lousy. read more

Attention all residents of Chicago & outlying Suburbs: Do you want an out of this world Lawn Maintenance/Landscaper? I hit the jackpot when I met the owner of Salvador's for the first time on Sunday, August 31st, 2008. I called to get an estimate on a yard mowing project that involved cutting tall weeds, grass, & mini trees on the concrete part of the yard. Please keep in mind that I was calling all over Chicago since June to get someone to even come out to look at the yard. I intially called Salvador's in mid July, understandably he was busy with other big projects, & was told that he would be available in mid-August. I thank my lucky stars that I called again, because along comes this "Angel" who stated there were no contracts to sign, no baloney, & no malarkey. No games period!! Salvador is a no nonsense business man; just tell him what you want, {boom} you have it with no gimmicks or fast talking. Salvador arrived pronto on Saturday, September 6th, 2008 at 8:10 A.M. with an assistant. He had scheduled for the Thursday or Friday before this, but it rained heavily. They had that yard looking manicured in less than 2 hours, even more impressing they did not leave anything behind; they removed every last bit. My yard looked new again. Here is the good part: he charged me only $150.00. This is extremely reasonable considering the amount of work they had to do. Salvador: I thank you for your honesty, integrity, & business expertise. I know that I can rely on you from now on. I will not call anyone else. Please everyone make sure you try Salvador's for all your yard, lawn, & landscaping needs, I guarantee that there will be no games here, just plain honest work. No, I am not being paid to make these statements. This is a factual & true account of my dealings with Salvador. I called Salvador's landscaping after seeing that they had the highest review ratings on yelp in the Chicago area. Salvador came out and gave me a quote and did the work. At first, I was a little skeptical because I was dealing through his wife Maria vs dealing through him and i could not find a website for the company at all. However, Maria was also courteous and called back and Salvador and his crew are 100% professional. What initially started as a "help me grow my grass and kill the weeds" turned into please put down pavers in a very tight space and help me raise a front flower bed. They did alot of the work while I was not home which I was also nervous about. However, when I did arrive at home they were a slam dunk. My neighbors even walked up to me to say how nice and courteous Salvador and his crew were while working. So my patio area has become my little outside oasis. We have been complimented on it by anyone that has visited and the bonus to all of this is that he was reasonable priced. So I now have healthy grass growing in places that others said could not be done, weeds are gone, beautiful raised flower bed and a fantastic patio. I cannot rave enough about this company. Salavadors is great! We just had our first experience with Salvador and they did a very comprehesive Spring cleanup. I actually was lucky they were in my neighborhood and I called and talked to Maria. Next thing I knew Salvador was here and he was able to fit us in. He is very professional and they did a wonderful job our yard looks amazing and ready for spring! It was so nice to see him working with his crew and doing such a nice job. Williams has a strong presence in my neighborhood but they are pricey so we were happy to see the quality and value that Salvador brought to my house immediately. Salvador and his crew were out today and worked from 8 AM til 7 pm to transform my small but motley backyard into a spot I would actually want to spend time in. They took out the old grass/weedy stuff, put down sod, planted and trimmed bushes, mulched, put up latticework so that I don't have to look at the ugly stones under my deck--it not only looks cleaned up, it looks like a yard somebody put some thought into. Everybody was professional; they cleaned up everything, and the cost was very very reasonable. Salvador is a guy who thinks about what's best for the space and he clearly takes his work seriously. I plan to have them back in spring for regular maintenance. Highly recommended but as others have said book early unless you're willing to wait. read more

I personally find the service inconvenient. I was told that it can take weeks for an estimate to be done and then even more weeks or months for the work to start. In a recent call, the voicemail stated that they are only going to schedule next year's estimate. I was told that the best thing to do is call the year prior to get them to come out for whatever estimate/job. I find this extremely inconvenient to wait so long not only for an estimate but also for them to get the work started. So if you call early summer to get some garden/lawn work done, their schedule might be so tight that your work may not be done until summer is ending. I find that unacceptable. Their work is not something to brag about or so amazing that it is worth waiting so long for. I have seen weed treated lawn to have weeds that are spreading. And I have seen them redo some of their work. I was rudely woken up one Sunday morning by banging and construction type noises and I realized that the staff had shown up so early even though my neighborhood has noise ordinances in place for Sundays. That type of work shouldn't have been scheduled on a Sunday when there are strict town Codes against loud noises on Sundays (even leaf blowers are not allowed on Sundays). No construction is allowed in our town on Sundays and construction work banging on what was supposed to be a relaxing Sunday morning is one of the worst things to wake up to. Landscapers are dime a dozen. I would get someone who can get work done in a different time frame. Unless you know your lawn needs and such a year or months in advance and you don't mind waiting, this company is quite tedious. I think it is very inconvenient. Most well organized, efficient and well staffed companies would have scheduled and finished the work before someone from here can even give you an estimate. If I want some landscaping done, most companies I find are similar or even better in quality. I would rather have the work done in my time frame rather than wait for months. I personally feel that its not good customer service to expect me to change my schedule and expectation so that it would be more convenient for the service provider. This place has a "take it or leave" mentality so if you find any fault, you are welcome to take your business elsewhere. I would be wary of that. read more

Salvador is great! But please keep in mind he's busy. We called Maria and left a message. In a few days she called back and made an appointment for Salvador to come out and talk to us. We told him what we wanted, and he made some great suggestions. A few days later we received by email a drawing with a layout of the yard and the names of the plants as well as an estimate. It was a few weeks before we could get on the schedule. I came home after work and nothing was done, then at 5:30 pm they drove up and the two men went to work. They had to remove a big retaining wall before they could plant the garden. A couple of hours later I went to check on them, and they were gone. Everything was just as he had proposed. My wife and I were so happy with his suggestions for our hard to grow area. And I was happy that it was low maintenance. Maria is wonderful at keeping in touch. I just want to say how pleased and happy I am with this landscaping team! WOW!!! Salvador came out to our property to see what he could do. He made suggestions of his own and came up with a design for us. Some of the items he suggested, I was a little wary of on how it would look, but when I saw the result -- he was right! -- everything looks beautiful!! I was completely, nicely, surprised when I came home from work to see the whole crew already had converted my entire front yard. Gone are those huge bushes! I can see my front steps now! And not only had they revamped the front yard, they had also done most of the backyard as well! Amazing! They had done all this in just ONE DAY! They had even also cleaned around our trees without us asking! I am completely surprised how quickly these guys work. They're totally hardworking and do an excellent, excellent job. Salvador is a talented landscaper who is lousy at running his business. I used his services for over 7 years, the first 6 were excellent. The last year however, was a HUGE disappointment. Last fall, I had to call and email him 5 times before he showed up.... On Dec.4 (my first emailed request was back in early October). This spring was worse, as I had to (nicely) ask him both by email and phone calls for a spring clean up 5 times again, only this time I lost my patience with him. I emailed him after he promised me twice he would do it the following week and told him " this is very unprofessional of you not to show up as promised, are you going to do this or not?". Salvador turned ugly, telling me only now, that he wouldn't do it until I paid him for last fall's clean up. He was right, but it was only because he never sent me a bill for it. Why would he wait 4 months to remind me he hasn't gotten paid, you have to ask him. I think he simply needs to learn how to run a business. If someone is doing it for him, then they are to blame. So I paid him and fired him. If you want to waste your time with endless emails, phone calls and missed appointments for your landscaping needs, Salvador's your guy! read more

We found Salvador's landscaping through yelp last fall and we got in touch with him. He came, he was very open, honest and straight forward. We had unleveled blue stone patio and we did not like the look. We wanted it to be the same small stones like on our walkway. We had another quote from another place whom agreed to move the blue stone, when we told this to Salvador he was shocked and told us that the blue stone was way more expensive than the walkway stone and the amount of stone we have on the patio was worth couple of thousand. The quote he gave was half the price of the other guy who would take our blue stone on top of the money he made. Having said that because it was fall almost winter we booked the work to be done this April. In April he came, he did a great and very clean job. Exactly what he promised. Very timely, professional and kind! After the job was done we actually got the invoice in June and it was even less than the quote he gave us. He is very easy to work with, honest, very good price for the service he provides. He gives his honest professional opinion, he does not try to trick and make more money out of you. We are very happy with the job he did and we are also very grateful for great customer service and his professionalism. We would give 10 star if we could! I found many contractors etc through yelp, rarely write reviews, my husband doesn't even bother and does not care about reviews. called (late june) for an estimate to clean-out (3) flowerbeds, replace lava-rock and trim, and was told the earliest i could get an estimate was the 2nd week of august (2015) - - next, they informed me, the soonest any work would be completed would be sometime in september (just in time for winter). are these guys for real???? three (3) months to have flower beds taken care of!?! my yard would look like a jungle by the time salvador's landscaping arrived . . . summer in chicago only lasts 90 days why would i (or anyone else) wait until september to get beds manicured/cleaned, etc . . . salvador's should stop accepting jobs and/or hire more people - ??? after speaking with their receptionist - i'm %100 sure this is definitely not a company i'd want to do business with! read more
