When I called to let them know (it was delivered), I was told "I don't know what to tell ya" and had no desire to make it right. Cheesesteak was relatively flavorless and underwhelming. For the price, I don't regret trying this place for the first time. However, I don't think I'll be back unless I'm really in a pinch. Maybe they do better with other menu items, but this sandwich was featured pretty prominently on the menu and probably wasn't worth the calories. read more

Got the breakfast burrito. Easily one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had in a world of endless burritos. This is my new favorite deli. Amazing everything. Prices are high but they deserve it. Wish they were open on the weekends but it's not on 16th St so that's tough. I eat here about 5-7 times a week and work across the street. So awesome. The staff is always friendly and try hard to remember names. The lure for me was the Boar's Head signage all over the front. We have a history, Boar's Head and I. So, after a little notary service across the street, I went to grab some lunch. They had a sign on the chalk board that read "Broncos Win AGAIN! Any 6" steak sandwich $5." Cool, I thought... I was more in the mood for turkey today but I can't turn my nose up at a $5 steak and cheese. So that was it, my sandwich order (steak and cheese with all the "dry" ingredients. I asked them if the bread soaked up a lot because if so, I didn't want oil in there. He said they do get a bit wet in there, so I got no liquid ingredients other than mayo. Followed it up with a green chili for good measure, all to go. Approaching the register, expecting to pay $5 for the sandwich, I was informed that the deal is only for the day after the Bronco's win. Why they advertised the deal with no stipulation to that fact and wouldn't honor it, I have no idea. But hey, it was only another couple bucks, so whatever. The serving staff seemed polite at least. When I got back to my office about 5 minutes later, the sandwich was definitely room temp (but I'm not faulting stars for that fact since I had to walk it out). What blew my mind was how greasy the sandwich was on the outside. It was like they brushed olive oil directly onto the OUTSIDE of the sandwich prior to wrapping it. So weird. The green chili was better than the sandwich, but still nothing you can't get just as well anyplace. Should have gotten the turkey. I won't go here again unless it's across the street, but if it is, I might stop in for a cold sub and see if they do that well enough to re-review. A+ incredible all around. Food: we were going to red rocks later so we got a breakfast Sammie and a lunch one for later. Got the "heart attack" which isn't called that on the menu - egg cheese + bacon sausage ham on a fresh SO SOFT kaiser roll. Seriously amazing roll. We listened to the recommendations of the guy from Lowell, MA. That dude rocks - what a cool dude. Breakfast - perfect. Get hot sauce on the Sammie. Thick cut bacon was delicious and being cooked as we ordered. Breakfast sausage and ham were good. Lunch - turkey with veggies and banana peppers on same roll. The roll is amazing so soft (and I have veneers and can't bite into hard breads! Win!). Turkey is boars head and banana peppers were a spread (great idea). This place is good...if you like good sandwiches. Don't be scared off by the line. It moves pretty quickly and it's basically a good sign that a lot of people like it. About the time you get in line, you will smell the aroma of wonderfully soft bread being baked. The bread is what sells this place for me. It's is fluffy and delicious. They do a good job of getting the bread to meat ratio right too. Just right. My only complaint is that it's a little pricey. It's not so pricey that I don't go, I just wish it were cheaper. Went there to try something from their breakfast menu. I settled on the burrito. I will NEVER be back. First off the burrito is egg, hashbrowns, and i think cheese but didn't really see any in there. Second, it's $5.25 and adding any kind of meat is an extra $1.25, which bascially means you can get their breakfast burrito for the same price as chipotle burrito, which leads me to my third point. Third, if it were the size of a chipotle burrito then ok, but it was tiny. i've seen bean burritos at taco bell bigger than this thing. to make up for they loaded about 1/2 gallon of green chile into the container. Today Salvaggio's passed my "I changed my mind and crossed the street to eat there" test. I've been a couple of times for lunch and I've only had sandwiches. Today I had a reuben, it was pretty good. The corned beef was lean, a little rich but good. They put slaw on their reuben rather than sauerkraut, and they use a fresh bun rather than toasted rye. I've heard of people doing that, this was the first time that I actually had it. And I'm a fan. I've also had the mozzarella and pepper sandwich. I added a topping of dried salami on it for some texture. It was dang good. I lived in Italy for a while and haven't really had a mozzarella sandwich to compare to the sandwiches (paninis) that I would get there. But this one was close. The red peppers and mozz had nice flavor and had just the right level of sliminess. Yes, that is important, go get a real Italian panini to see what I'm talking about. And the dry salami (again, I asked for this to go with the sandwich) tied it all together. The only thing is that they need some harder-shelled bread to serve it on. They have other sandwiches hot and cold, salads, don't remember if they have soup... The atmosphere inside is not really Denver, rather it is a little more like an east coast sandwich place. Spent one night in Denver. Hit up this place because of the Boars Head sign. I had the Italian (not bad) and my husband had the egg salad ( not that great). The woman making my sandwich looked like she wished she was dead rather than working here. Her and three others fought over the counter to make the sandwiches they needed to make. Another woman I noticed, wearing a tank top and shorts and flip flops, seemed to be the manager...maybe. I can't imagine this place being properly managed by anyone. Boars Head meat and the best bread, super fast and attentive service! If you can make it here before 4pm it will be the best sandwich you can get in this area. If you've ever lived near a Publix Grocery, you remember those deli subs...these are pretty close. They don't have as many meat options as a grocery deli but they have enough to definitely have something you will like! Update: if you are a fan of breakfast sandwiches, you have to ask for the Heart Attack!! It's listed as the ham, sausage, bacon, egg and cheese on the menu but trust me just ask for the Heart Attack!! Add sriracha hot sauce and it is the best sandwich they have!! I went in at 3:40pm just before the 4pm closing time. The place is incredibly clean. I was greeted with great positive happy attitude. I was my first time and they recommended anything off the grill. As I considered my options they also let me know the Rueben Sandwich was a favorite with the locals. I ordered one on a roll for $8.50. It was amazing. The bread, or roll as they called it, reminded me of a roll from the Lion House in Salt Lake City. The pastrami was flaked amazingly thin yet piled super thick. Fantastic pastrami. Instead of sauerkraut they used coleslaw (they had informed me if this already before I made my order) and let me tell you, worked. This place had taken a "Rueben" and created a whole new sandwich experience. Great Job! Will be back! read more

As a born and raised New Yorker my search for a true Italian sub in Denver has been among and arduous process (4 years here). I truly feel the Italian sub they offer, or any of the sandwiches for that matter are delicious! The big difference maker though is the bread they are using! Small sandos come on a nice big roll, while the large comes on a nice loaf, which if I'm not mistaken is a semolina loaf (what sets Italian sandos apart). The delivery through Eat24 is super quick and easy as well! This I found to be super helpful because it is in a bit of an awkward spot for parking, especially if you aren't trying to pay to park. Just got back from lunch @ Salvaggio's.... and it was fantastic. First off, the staff on the sandwich line were SO charismatic - they were funny, helpful, and entertaining. Very impressive. But the food... delicious. I had the 6" #3 (a steak sandwich with all the fixings) with a dab of hot sauce (per the staff recommendations). It was AMAZING. I usually don't like steak sandwiches, but they convinced me to try it. The bread is great - it's not an impediment to eating. It's soft and squishy. The toppings are great. I think I ate my sandwich in 5 minutes, which is saying something since it's a generous 6". I will definitely go back again. read more

Whenever i try a new sandwich shop out i start with the Reuben, and base my return on that Reuben. Worst Ruben sandwich I have ever tasted, even more disgusting than ARBY'S attempt to make a rueban. If i had to choose between the two, I'd choose Arby's because between the two Salvaggio's wrecked my stomach more. 1. The bread was soft and not toasted, even though they call it a hot sandwich 2. The coleslaw is straight from the fridge and very cold 3. The corned beef was delicious and warm, which on a cold sandwich isnt appetizing. 4. the provolone cheese barely melted so it had that weird in between texture 5. i tasted mayonnaise, they swear they put thousand island, but i know what mayonnaise taste like Then to top it off, i asked what kind of Ice Tea they have and the clerk said fresh brewed lipton. When i went to get my drink it was that instant soda fountain imitation crap tea. Told the guy i wanted my money back and he argued with me about how that was real tea.
