My car threw the ABS, brake, and traction light all at the same time. I had a mobile mechanic come out to diagnosis it and they weren't able to fix it. They recommended I take it to a hybrid specialist so I yelped this place. I called around 2pm and was promptly told I could come in same day. I called the tow truck and was on my way. Freddy works the front is was very nice and Angel was my mechanic, he was very kind and saw my diagnostic report and said he'd run his own but he was pretty sure he knew what was wrong. I left and he called as I was pulling up to my home to confirm the repair was what he thought it was. I got my car back the follow day around noon for a lower final cost than initially estimated. The car runs great so far, I'll update if anything happens as they replaced my parts with used parts. But service, turn around, and price-wise, I can't complain. Back in March 2019 I got the red triangle on the dash board of my Prius. after a lot of back and forth with Toyota it was decided that I was a few months out of warranty. So replacing the hybrid battery was going to cost thousands of dollars. I don't remember exactly how we found Sam Auto Hybrid but they have been god sent. We arranged for mobile service the next day. We opted for the hybrid battery repair with the 2 year warranty. He came out made the repair and I was back on the road in a few hours. Toyota said the repair would start at $4,000. Sam did it for $600 with the warranty!!! Six months later the red triangle popped up on the dashboard again. I took it to my local mechanic and he read the codes and it was the battery again. I called Sam and he gave me the first available mobile appointment. He sent out one of his employees who was perfect. He arrived on time. Made quick work of the repair and refused the tip I tried to give him. He said the repair was under warranty. I fell lucky to have found Sam and recommend them 1000%!!! read more

STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!!! I took my 2013 Prius with a blown engine to these guys who promised to "rebuild" my own engine. First off, I couldn't get one of the owners "Koroush" to stop calling me and wanting to "help" and get my car fixed. We agreed on a $2300 fee and for my car to be towed from LA County to OC to their shop and for it to be towed there and back to my house. After they were fone with "fixing" my car they let me know that they wouldn't tow it back to me and I had to drive back to OC for an hour or two to drive my car back. (1st lie) After visiting the shop, the other owner told me that the engine couldn't be rebuilt and they put "another rebuilt " engine in my car (2nd lie). Just after having my car back and driving it for a few thousand miles it broke down and I had to replace all coils and spark plugs for $500+. The main reason I'm writing this review however, is because of Koroush's rude behavior after I called him to have my car fixed with their "1 year warranty", the guy that was literally begging me to take my car to him was giving me attitude. Finally I sold my car less than a year of being worried it would break dow with their "rebuilt engine" *Please note that the recent reviews are most likely fake. They probably have their family and friends writing these non sense good reviews. read more

I have proof that customer service and quality still exists and he goes by the name of Mustafa! I was actually referred to Sam's by another hybrid repair shop when the ABS pump gave out on my 2008 Prius. That is when, through the graces of G_D, I met Mustafa who was simply amazing- professional, and accommodating. I felt understood and taken care of by a kind big brother. He immediately calmed my fears and anxiety and told me the car would be ready the next day at a cost that was the most fair and with a guarantee that surpassed other shops. I he even offered me a free loaner and repaired some cosmetic stuff on my dash with out asking (who does that anymore?)! I live a distance from the shop but, Sam's is well worth the drive for their expertise and quality service. My car drives like new again- really!!! I spoke with Michael 2 weeks ago looking for an estimate on replacing my Prius Hybrid Battery. I continued looking as I had some reservations about the cost and warranty (I can be a skeptic sometimes). A few days later I was ready to go with another company but called him again and asked a bunch of questions. I ended up texting him at 10:30 am last Friday and asked how long the repair would take as I had to leave by 11:45 am. He showed up at my house at 11:00 am and changed out my battery as I finished getting ready for my day. My car was done before I had to leave. Michael is super nice, he diagnosed the problem quickly and got my battery changed out really fast. I have a bunch of other small things to get fixed on my car and I will definitely be going back to Sam Auto Hybrid. It is nice not to have to go to Toyota or PepBoys and to have found people who I feel I can trust with my car and the repairs that need to get done. They also don't over charge for things. I got an estimate from PepBoys on replacing a tire pressure sensor, it is a lot higher than what Michael quoted. It has been a week, my car is still running great! read more

Exactly a year ago I had my main battery of my Lexus RX 450 H replaced. After 2 days the check hybrid system light came back on. I brought it back he got the light to turn off, then after another two days the check hybrid system light came back on. This went on I believe four or five more times. Extremely frustrating. He then told me I'm gonna go ahead and replace all of the cells. I'm thinking you should've done that the first time. He said don't worry you have a year warranty. Well, Exactly a year later that check hybrid system light came back on. I hate to put anybody's business down especially during these times. But it was one of the most frustrating situations I've ever gone through to try to fix one problem, the battery. I will never go back or trust this place. Really good pricing and warranty. 2 year warranty is phenomenal. Unfortunately, you have to use that warranty wayyy too often. I've changed my Prius hybrid battery here twice. I've had to come back 2-3 times for each battery within the 2 year warranty because the batteries they put in died. One time it died right after they put it in, literally pulled onto Baker and the red triangle of death showed up. read more

I highly recommend Sam Auto Hybrid after taking my 2013 Prius to a local mechanic who couldn't figure out what was wrong with my car it was shaking (350 dollars later) someone recommended Sam Auto hybrid I had my engine changed and a new Hybrid battery placed. They drove all the way from Costa Mesa to Riverside to pick up my car and then once the work was complete they even drove it back to me. My car is no longer shaking and it is driving better then ever. I'm so happy with the results. The prices were very reasonable and I have a 2 year warranty on the Engine and Battery. read more

Cons: This is an update to my previous post, within 5 days my battery didn't work again, my car struggled and all the lights on the dashboard came back up. I had to find another mean of transportation which was an inconvenience, cause I thought it was fixed. Communication wasn't great, was told they would call me back, they didn't. After speaking to one of the staff and being told to bring my car today, he wasn't there and had to explain to another staff member. Pros: I like to support family owned businesses, my initial impression from the business was amazing. If this battery works this time around I saved a lot of money compared to the Toyota dealer. My car seems like it's back to normal and all my lights are off on the dashboard. I can only hope it stays that way. read more

Brought my 2006 Prius here after I got the dreaded red triangle of death. The car temporarily went into limp mode and the hybrid cooling fan started which it never did before. I was able to get home and the next day drove it here. Michael and his team were able to replace my hybrid battery for half as much as what the other hybrid specialty shops quoted. And thousand less than what the dealers usually charge. Plus it comes with a 2 year warranty. Super happy and I hope to get many more miles out of my Prius! Great, quick service. Angel was helpful when I went in to get my fog light fixed for the second time. Since he fixed it the first time and it didn't hold up because of parts issues, he only charged me for parts that he had to order from the dealer. He also replaced a light that had burned out. Received a call from Michael stating they found my lost key in their car and that they would mail it out well it's been 21 days and still no key, it's unfortunate they will admit to having my key but refuse to mail it out or communicate with me on picking it up. I was going to remove this review on good faith as soon as I received my key but now with no communication on the status of mailing out my key as promised I will just move on and purchase a key from dealer. read more

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY BUSINESS - this is a Scam and Sam Auto Hybrid owners are beyond dishonest. Look at the previous 1-Star Yelp reviews and it's very apparent the owners are consistantly in it for short term LARGE profits at the customers expense. They'll reel you in by making a house call to install one of their faulty hybrid batteries (house call is valuable to a stranded 50 yr old female) and a quote of $600, which fits my very limited budget. Michael, who claims to be the owner, will offer a handwritten 20k mile /2 year warranty which they FIGHT when their defective battery dies (read further, mine lasted less than a month). AND on their handwritten receipt Michael ADDED 10,000 miles to our odometer reading... FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD. After they installed the hybrid battery, days later all the Hybrid system warning lights started flashing again. Michael Salehi had to come out on TWO separate occasions to 'adjust the connections' so the flashing warning lights would stop. I advised him I was driving from Orange County to Washington and needed his assurance that his hybrid battery is dependable. Michael asked "Washington State or Washington DC?" as if it mattered how far I was driving! That should have been my first clue that this wasn't going to end well. Lesson learned, don't ignore that inner voice. After less than a month of Michael installing their 'refurbished' hybrid battery, yes, it died, while we were 1500 miles from home. We did make it to our destination in Vancouver WA, however, two weeks into our trip all the warning lights started flashing and the 'Check Hybrid System' Alert was flashing. We broke down on Friday, stranded and worse yet, had to be back in Orange County, drive 1500 miles to return to work in 4 days. We were forced to take the car to the local Toyota Dealer because they were the only shop that could get a Hybrid battery installed in time to get us on the road Monday and back to work in OC on Tuesday. I called Michael directly, told him what happened and asked for his advice/help and here's what he said, verbatim, "You should be happy you got as far as you did - what do you expect when you pay $600 for a hybrid battery." There you have it. We were at the mercy of the local small town car dealer, had to leave the car from Friday to Monday (awaiting parts from Portland), and pay $3900 for a new hybrid battery install. My next step is filing a small claims court dispute to get our money back on the defective battery installed by Sam Auto Hybrid. Side note, Michael Salehi says he's the owner, however the Secretary of State website, their Statement of Information shows the Corporation name is K & L California Merchant, Inc and owner listed as Jalalpour Kourosh. You WILL need that if you decide to use ANY of their services, INCLUDING the Sam Auto Dealership in Irvine. IN CLOSING: Further research on the web shows this business offers customers a $50 discount for a 5 Star Yelp review. I would bet that many of these 5-Star reviews are from Michael's friends and partners in crime. Literally. read more

I brought my 2010 Prius in here for a few things. They've been wonderful. Check engine light was on, brought the Prius in, fixed the problem in 15-20 minutes, then even offered an oil change! The guy next door does smog for $40 too. Which is a steal. Definitely recommend these guys and this auto area. One and done!! read more

Don't get fooled by this business. The man named 'Michael' is extremely insulting and rude. He acted like the customers need to beg him to get the service. He will be nice to you and come to your place to change the battery for you only if you are a new customer since he knows that he will get $600 from you. And he will not tell you that if you want to use the warranty, you will need to drive your car to his shop even though your car is not drivable. He will say it only when you call him to claim your warranty and he will say that it is in the receipt. I got my 2007 Prius' hybrid battery changed last year and i still had 1 year warranty left. I called him. In the first place, he didn't know that i still have a warranty, so he asked me nicely and softly if i have had my battery replaced before. Once i told him that yes, i changed my battery at his shop and still have 1 year warranty, his voiced completely changed. He yelled at me and said I need to bring the car to his shop. I asked him how i could drive since the car's battery broke, he said 'i don't know, you just needed to bring the car.' And he is very very rude. Now, i know why he is rude. He does it because he doesn't want anyone to claim the warranty. So he thinks that if he acts rude or aggressively, the customer will back off and not want to use the warranty anymore. So he will not need to waste his time to take care of old customers. Do not come here at all. Go somewhere else, it might be a little more expensive, but it will be worth it since you will not need to deal with the jerk like him and can focus more on your car. read more

My 2012 Prius V sat with a cracked gasket in my garden in Banning, California for some time. After my son graduated from UCSC, I wanted to provide him with a vehicle that would be more economical to drive. I decided to get the motor overhauled in order to extend the life of the vehicle. After researching several locations for a week, I found this one approximately an hour and a half away from our home. As part of our AAA membership, we received a free tow of 200 miles. We found the cost to be reasonable, the service to be quick, and the communication to be excellent. We were given a bottle of water and Red Bull when we picked up the car today, and the invoice was explained in a clear and concise manner. Driving home, the car performed well, and everything appeared to be in order. Got the Triangle of death along with a plethora of check engine lights. Was pretty much stranded and gave Michael a call. He offered to come where I was at but I was able to drive it into the shop. After 200,000 miles the engine was shot and needed to be replaced. Feeling hopeless he gave me the option of rebuilding my engine with totally new parts and replace and fix the battery. The price was very reasonable so we went for it. I was skeptical but Michael showed me all the new parts in the engine and the car is running like new. Michael and his workers have very high integrity and they do the right thing. We definitely found our new mechanic. I highly recommend this place! You won't regret it. read more

BEWARE! These guys will replace your prius battery pack with one that had failed in another car...all they do is find and replace the one bad cell in the previously "bad" pack, and then put it in your car. This gimick is now catching up to them. It's not worth $600 or $700. It's worth maybe $300 at best. First replacement lasted approx 6 months. Second replacement lasted 2 months, and Sam Auto was VERY reluctant to come out and fix it, and would only do it for $100. ...they said for warranty I had to bring it to their LA shop! You might as well replace the bad cell your self (it's easy, takes 3 hours after watching a 10-minute youtube). read more
