DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY BUSINESS - this is a Scam and Sam Auto Hybrid owners are beyond dishonest. Look at the previous 1-Star Yelp reviews and it's very apparent the owners are consistantly in it for short term LARGE profits at the customers expense. They'll reel you in by making a house call to install one of their faulty hybrid batteries (house call is valuable to a stranded 50 yr old female) and a quote of $600, which fits my very limited budget. Michael, who claims to be the owner, will offer a handwritten 20k mile /2 year warranty which they FIGHT when their defective battery dies (read further, mine lasted less than a month). AND on their handwritten receipt Michael ADDED 10,000 miles to our odometer reading... FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD. After they installed the hybrid battery, days later all the Hybrid system warning lights started flashing again. Michael Salehi had to come out on TWO separate occasions to 'adjust the connections' so the flashing warning lights would stop. I advised him I was driving from Orange County to Washington and needed his assurance that his hybrid battery is dependable. Michael asked "Washington State or Washington DC?" as if it mattered how far I was driving! That should have been my first clue that this wasn't going to end well. Lesson learned, don't ignore that inner voice. After less than a month of Michael installing their 'refurbished' hybrid battery, yes, it died, while we were 1500 miles from home. We did make it to our destination in Vancouver WA, however, two weeks into our trip all the warning lights started flashing and the 'Check Hybrid System' Alert was flashing. We broke down on Friday, stranded and worse yet, had to be back in Orange County, drive 1500 miles to return to work in 4 days. We were forced to take the car to the local Toyota Dealer because they were the only shop that could get a Hybrid battery installed in time to get us on the road Monday and back to work in OC on Tuesday. I called Michael directly, told him what happened and asked for his advice/help and here's what he said, verbatim, "You should be happy you got as far as you did - what do you expect when you pay $600 for a hybrid battery." There you have it. We were at the mercy of the local small town car dealer, had to leave the car from Friday to Monday (awaiting parts from Portland), and pay $3900 for a new hybrid battery install. My next step is filing a small claims court dispute to get our money back on the defective battery installed by Sam Auto Hybrid. Side note, Michael Salehi says he's the owner, however the Secretary of State website, their Statement of Information shows the Corporation name is K & L California Merchant, Inc and owner listed as Jalalpour Kourosh. You WILL need that if you decide to use ANY of their services, INCLUDING the Sam Auto Dealership in Irvine. IN CLOSING: Further research on the web shows this business offers customers a $50 discount for a 5 Star Yelp review. I would bet that many of these 5-Star reviews are from Michael's friends and partners in crime. Literally. read more

I brought my 2010 Prius in here for a few things. They've been wonderful. Check engine light was on, brought the Prius in, fixed the problem in 15-20 minutes, then even offered an oil change! Don't get fooled by this business. The man named 'Michael' is extremely insulting and rude. He acted like the customers need to beg him to get the service. He will be nice to you and come to your place to change the battery for you only if you are a new customer since he knows that he will get $600 from you. And he will not tell you that if you want to use the warranty, you will need to drive your car to his shop even though your car is not drivable. He will say it only when you call him to claim your warranty and he will say that it is in the receipt. I got my 2007 Prius' hybrid battery changed last year and i still had 1 year warranty left. I called him. In the first place, he didn't know that i still have a warranty, so he asked me nicely and softly if i have had my battery replaced before. Once i told him that yes, i changed my battery at his shop and still have 1 year warranty, his voiced completely changed. He yelled at me and said I need to bring the car to his shop. I asked him how i could drive since the car's battery broke, he said 'i don't know, you just needed to bring the car.' And he is very very rude. Now, i know why he is rude. He does it because he doesn't want anyone to claim the warranty. So he thinks that if he acts rude or aggressively, the customer will back off and not want to use the warranty anymore. So he will not need to waste his time to take care of old customers. Do not come here at all. Go somewhere else, it might be a little more expensive, but it will be worth it since you will not need to deal with the jerk like him and can focus more on your car. read more

My 2012 Prius V sat with a cracked gasket in my garden in Banning, California for some time. After my son graduated from UCSC, I wanted to provide him with a vehicle that would be more economical to drive. I decided to get the motor overhauled in order to extend the life of the vehicle. After researching several locations for a week, I found this one approximately an hour and a half away from our home. As part of our AAA membership, we received a free tow of 200 miles. We found the cost to be reasonable, the service to be quick, and the communication to be excellent. We were given a bottle of water and Red Bull when we picked up the car today, and the invoice was explained in a clear and concise manner. Driving home, the car performed well, and everything appeared to be in order. Got the Triangle of death along with a plethora of check engine lights. Was pretty much stranded and gave Michael a call. He offered to come where I was at but I was able to drive it into the shop. After 200,000 miles the engine was shot and needed to be replaced. Feeling hopeless he gave me the option of rebuilding my engine with totally new parts and replace and fix the battery. The price was very reasonable so we went for it. I was skeptical but Michael showed me all the new parts in the engine and the car is running like new. BEWARE! These guys will replace your prius battery pack with one that had failed in another car...all they do is find and replace the one bad cell in the previously "bad" pack, and then put it in your car. This gimick is now catching up to them. It's not worth $600 or $700. It's worth maybe $300 at best. First replacement lasted approx 6 months. Second replacement lasted 2 months, and Sam Auto was VERY reluctant to come out and fix it, and would only do it for $100. ...they said for warranty I had to bring it to their LA shop! You might as well replace the bad cell your self (it's easy, takes 3 hours after watching a 10-minute youtube). read more

In the first or second week the check engine light will turn on again, which is normal because they never fix or change the battery, the battery is changed until the second time you return to make you validate the warranty. The problem is that the owner does not like to give a guarantee and that is where the problem starts, because he is very rude and has no education and even tries to fight with the clients. They came out to my home. They had more batteries than they thought they would need which is a good thing. They gave me a 2 year warranty, later adding 20,000 miles that was NOT mentioned over the phone. The battery went out a week and half later. On a Monday they said they'd drive out to me that Wednesday; when I called on Wednesday they said they couldn't drive out and I had to drive to them. They initially charged $100 to come out to me which I thought was reasonable seeing how the car was immobile was not returned when asked. Overall my experience was exhausting. Highly recommend finding an alternative method for your Prius battery repair/replacement. read more

These guys are great. A couple of months ago my Prius started having a weird issue. The engine sounded very loud as if there was an air leak. I brought it here and they looked at it for at least 45 minutes until they found the issue. They do not fix mufflers here so they told me to go get it fixed somewhere else but they did not charge a single dollar for finding the problem. Today I came back to get an oil change and they are almost half the price as the dealership. While doing the oil chance, the technician found some loose hoses and he fixed them at no extra charge. Couldn't be more satisfied cause he got my car up and running so I could get to work on Monday. They replace tons of hybrid batteries and their batteries have a 2 year warranty. These guys made me feel like a princess! I called them on Wednesday night and they came to my house the very next day to look at my sad and completely dead 2003 Prius. After looking at it and determining what the problem was, they had it towed to their shop for free that night. They kept in contact with me throughout the next day, keeping me updated on what they were finding. Originally, they had anticipated having it all done by Sunday, but they actually finished it by Thursday night and brought it back to my house on Friday morning. Not only was everything working perfectly, but they also had filled up the gas tank AND washed the car. I couldn't believe it! The problem I had with my car was the hybrid battery as well as the inverter. They fixed these things as well as checked out everything else on the car to see if there are any other problems. It turned out that my brakes and serpentine belt needed to be replaced, so I had them do this. They also changed my oil and replaced the air filter. They did ALL OF THIS for $1,400 flat. I couldn't believe it! Anywhere else and this would be upwards of $3,000. So, not only did they fix everything, but they did it all within 1 and a half days. I HIGHLY recommend this company and HIGHLY recommend not even considering anyone else for your hybrid needs. They are such nice people and very knowledgeable, too. First let's be clear: 1) They (Michael, primarily) fixed my car and it appears to be running just fine now. 2) They likely saved me a lot of money (6x-8x) from going to the dealership. 3) I am very happy to have my car running well again. This puts them at 5 stars. Background: My Lexus' hybrid system had issue and was only running off the gas engine. Luckily, I was able to make it to the shop on my own without tow service. I called ahead to describe the issue; despite not having performed an actual diagnosis they seemed to recognize the issue and quote me an estimated price--this speaks to their experience with Toyota-based hybrids. Turns out that a cell(s) in my battery pack had gone bad and needed to be replaced. 1 Star Deduction: This is a little shop without much formality; the type that operates on cash and a handshake. In fact, I dropped my car off without so much as any documentation stating that I did---all trust. As such, operating hours are "fluid" and paperwork is non-existent. Why does this matter? Well, if you like to have a paper-trail or a "medical record" of your car's maintenance, this is lacking here. I was not provided with a itemized work-up of parts and labor. Was one cell bad? Was more than one bad? What was actually replaced? What was it replaced with...OEM? Aftermarket? Was it refurbished? How many hours was labor? What was the hourly cost of labor? No idea. The actual cost could have been marginal with a substantial markup---or the other way around. I did ask a couple different ways but was not provided with the specific details. Oh well---at least it was relatively cheap compared to what it would have cost at the dealership. They were nice and took time to explain the mechanics behind the issue and also turned the work around within a few days. Another star deduction: They performed some type of battery-to-brake calibration. Apparently, this service costs $700 at the dealership and performed it en gratis... but I could pay them an additional $100 for it. Um, okay... I am thinking that a calibration sounds like it should be part of the total service when replacing whatever it is that they replaced. But when writing the check they added that additional $100. I didn't push back hard as a) I am glad to have my car fixed and b) it was Christmas/New Year's so I haven't vigilant with my spending. So all in all, they are "A-Ok!" as designated with my 3 stars. Yes, I would absolutely go back again if the same hybrid or my other hybrid needed service. read more

He also clean my headlights that had yellow foggy film for years of usage. They can out looking like new!! Gave me some great tips on how to cheap the car battery well maintained. STAY AWAY !! They replaced my hybrid battery and it died next day (with 2 years warranty). Charged me $100 for Service Trip. Trying to blame on something else on the car. Michael also broke a wire while installing the battery that made the ABS light stay on. The price seems to be good, but doesn't worth the hassle. I used another company located in Yorba Linda, CA. They came over and charged me $200 for the Service Trip. Total price was higher than SAM's, but totally worth it. I paid with CCard and was able to dispute the charge with the bank. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR PRIUS HERE FOR BATTERY. They do not repair the main battery. Either they re-charge the battery or only certain modules but it will only work for 2-3 months and you're back to the beginning. Sure they offer warranty, but after taking it again, they'll say is something else (like a wire harness) and they'll charge you again. The amount of money $500- $600 they say to fix your battery is incorrect. They won't change to a new 28 cells battery. I have a 2006 Prius and it happened to me. You need a new or reconditioned battery. Do not pay an easy fix if you want to keep your Prius for a while I think is a ripoff for what they offering for the main battery. They should say the truth and is up to you then to decide. I got mine replaced from GREEN BEAN for a lifetime warranty and I did it because I need the car to go to work for it's gas mileage. Just BEWARE of places like this one. Do NOT trust when they say $300-$600 etc. Do research. The people that are happy now after going to them, be ware, the RED TRIANGLE is soon to come back and you'll be stuck in the middle of the road.
