Pretty mid KBBQ, came here for a late-ish dinner with a group of 4 on a Sunday night, and had to wait a bit to be seated. The KBBQ here is not AYCE, we ended up ordering a full portion of 1 combo and a half portion of another combo, and left feeling full but not stuffed. Meat quality was average/poor, the only meat which I thought was good in the combos that we got was the marinated short rib. The sesame oil + salt sauce was super salty. I liked their banchan selection though, they have fish cake, potatoes, and pancake among others. Service wasn't the greatest, there was only 1 server for the whole restaurant and it was a bit hard to get her attention, though she was very friendly once we did. Also wish the ventilation was better in here - my clothes reeked after this meal. Overall meal came out to around $60 per person, which is definitely on the steeper side. At that price point I would much rather go to another KBBQ place with better meat quality and selection. read more

Came here after seeing that Kawon across the street was closed but regretted it soon after. Since they are marketed as a korean bbq joint I would assume their bbq is pretty good... Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. Majority of the meat was full of fat and cartilage and there was barely meat around the bones. Even for the marinated meats they were extremely salty and hard to chew through. The meat here isn't cheap either with the combo we got being $130. We got a couple of soups as well and THEY CHARGE FOR RICE HERE $2 PER BOWL. How do they expect us to eat a korean soup with no rice?? This alone will not bring me back here. We came here because of a foodie video on IG showing this is a mom-and-pop shop that offered great food. They had many laminated pages of the menu with pictures, so it was easy to order. As the lady owner confirmed that the Family Special Combo A1 or B2 was for 3 people or more, my friend and I (2 people) ordered Combo E. Though the menu says combos would come with stew and steamed eggs, the server confirmed it's an either or. Not both. We ended up not feeling full so we also ordered beef tongue and another order of steamed eggs. Overall we felt the food was good but portions seemed to be on the smaller side. Friendly staff (the lady owner) but not super attentive; we had to call her several times. The environment was clean and we really got some privacy as we were sitting at the booth - maybe that was why the server did not come to our table regularly. However, on Yelp, Obar isn't recognized and their receipt ties back to Sottukkeong.* I gotta say, this cute lil joint called Obar Izakaya & sushi serves some wicked seafood pancake. Located right next to the main restaurant Sottukkeong, this place is fairly easy to spot as you drive around the tiny parking lot. Overall, here are my observations: -Came in around 9pm ish; was greeted by a sweet grandma like lady (who I assume was both the server, cook, and etc since there were no other staff present). -Menu is fairly basic and short -Wait time on food: A bit slow, but understandable if there was only 1 person on staff -Food: LOVE THE SEAFOOD PANCAKE! With plenty of seafood (this place doesn't skimp on the ingredients woot woot), this was quite the treat. Also, did order the fish cake soup but this was so so. Interior: Small & intimate! There's so many Korean barbecue spots! I think I found a great one located in North Lynnwood off of SR-99! Sottukkeong is a small restaurant that delivers quality food. I came here on a Saturday evening and got seated right away by a very sweet, older Korean woman. We ordered one of the combos E. It came with thin slices of beef brisket and pork belly. I wish there was a combo that had short ribs along with it. There's no price if you wanted to add additional meat/seafood so we didn't bother to ask. To accompany our drink we had the yogurt soju and Hite beer although my boyfriend asked for the Lager. I don't think she understand English too well and that's totally fine. Our barbecue came out fast- along with the bachan and egg soup. Although i read another review that it came with a soybean paste soup hmm... I wish there was tofu soup! I enjoyed the meal. It was fulfilling for 2 people although $50 is pretty steep for just two meats and not all-you-can-eat either. We weren't terribly full but if there was another few pieces of thin sliced brisket i would've devoured that lol. I'm not sure how much our bill ended up being because my boyfriend paid LOL. But I'm sure it was around $80 in the end. They do make delicious kimchee! I wish I had asked for more but the lady never came back until the very end to get our check. Has Chung-Sol gone through a rebranding? From my experience, it is now known as Sottukkeong. :) Anyways, Sottukkeong/Chung-Sol is my favorite Korean BBQ place in Lynnwood! Owned by a little old couple, the restaurant features various Korean BBQ combos, from pork belly (samgyupsal) and marinated beef (kalbi) to spicy pork and seafood. Your group can order one of the combos depending on what meat you want to grill. Some of the options also comes with beer or soju. Along with the grilling meat, you usually get a side order of Korean soybean paste stew (doenjang jigae) and steamed eggs (gyeran jjim). It's not the largest restaurant around - each table can probably seat 4 people max. if you're going primarily for grilling, you should probably go earlier rather than later. I've heard that it's a favorite for late night food/drinks and can get quite busy. :) If you still have room after your Korean BBQ, I highly recommend ordering the stir-fried rice. They fry it directly onto the grill, using the leftover marinade, grilled meat, etc. as flavoring and ingredients for the rice. Great customer service and good quality meat! If you want a more traditional take on KBBQ, then come here! The ajumma cuts up your pork belly and helps you cook your meat so it doesn't burn, and the banchan is delicious. I love kbbq so when we found out that this place served fresh pork belly, we were hyped! The only downside is the price...which is quite high compared to other kbbq restaurants, and this place does not offer AYCE so things add up quickly. Have been trying to find some Korean restaurants in the area, and was invited by a friend to try this place in Lynnwood. My friend knows his way around Korean cuisine, so ordered Dakgalbi for us to share. The lady (owner?), was friendly, and my friend was able to communicate in Korean which I think helped our experience! The food (which came with traditional sides), was good, not too spicy, but pretty flavorful. The leftover dakgalbi was transformed into a fried rice dish by the owner, which was amazing, since she did it all right in front of us at the table. Again, the rice was nice, not the best in the world, but was definitely good. The interior of this place isn't exactly modern or anything, but it's comfortable. It wasn't busy when we arrived (around 6pm on a weekend), but it started picking up around 8pm. It's definitely a whole in the wall type location, so you could easily miss it when driving by. Had kbbq here after hiking and as a korean, I thought it was pretty good! We had the beef brisket and pork belly combo which came with korean bean paste soup and it was the perfect amount for two people. Meat always tastes a bit better to me when it's grilled on the large pot lid, which is why we decided to come here. The side dishes were yummy, especially the salad + salad dressing. It was vinegary and refreshing to eat with the meat! The server lady was kind and apologetic when she couldn't check up on us after it got a bit busy. This is close to a traditional Korean pub in Korea, or it's a very common type of Korean tavern/pub type of establishment in Korea town in California. This place is very small and cozy with very decent food. I noticed most places in Washington doesn't serve soju by the bottle which is a upset. Soju is like wine for is along with our cuisine. It's a tradition. I was really happy that they actually served it by the bottle. I have been to many KBBQ places in my life and this one is hands down one of my favorites by far! Christie is such a sweet lady and her friends that work with her. She remembers you by name and offers to give you a hug on the way out! Everything about this place is soooo good. The menu, service, wings, corn cheese, and the meat is so good. Oh and the salad. This is a family owned with I believe husband, wife, and or sister/cousin! They know what you like and make great suggestions. My friends and I usually get brisket, short ribs, and pork belly. I have mixed, convoluted feelings about this place... I came here with two other friends on a Sunday night for my friend's birthday dinner and although we were kind of sketched out by the restaurant's exterior because it was old and random, we decided to try it nevertheless since the pictures/reviews on Yelp looked decent. When I entered I have to say it gave me a warm, traditional feeling and reminded me of Korea so I was excited to eat here. However, my review of this restaurant all starts from being seated and my experience can be broken down into this: Customer Service: -We were standing by the doorway for atleast 5 minutes without being seated (there were only 2-3 other parties eating at that time so it was not very busy) and even after being seated it took another 5-10 minutes to just get a menu. -Even after we ordered our food took a really long time (at least 30min) to come out and our water was never refilled or we never were visited after our food came out unless we raised our hands. -I will say though that the lady was kind enough to give us Sprite for service though Pricing: The prices for the KBBQ Combos were pretty pricey so we just went for the cheapest option E for $49.99, which includes Pork Belly (Samgyupsal) and Beef Briskets (ChadolBaege), assorted Korean Side Dishes (Banchan), Egg Dish (GyeranJjim), and optional Soju/Beer. The menu also said Bean Paste Stew is included in the menu but was crossed out on one of the big menus posted on the wall so I directly asked the owner to see if it's included and she told me yes. Despite the confirmation, when our food came out the stew didn't come out and when I asked for it, the owner said it wasn't included... (what? I even asked and she said yes!). She ended up giving it to us without extra cost. Overall the owner is a sweet middle-aged lady but service needs to be faster and food is quite pricey. The food was honestly incredible. If I were rating just the food, I'd give it 5 stars. Unfortunately the service was sub-par; our waiter turned off our burner halfway through our meal, then disappeared for about 20 minutes. We had to flag him down to turn the burner back on and refill our waters, even though there were very few other customers. Mom and pop shop all the way! The Korean mamas who run this place are the shit. You can get a combo with some "included soju" and have yourself a lit time. The KBBQ prices are standard and they don't have all you can eat unfortunately. Their set up is pretty cool, the ventilation system A1 and the ban chan was yummy! We got two plates for 6 people, which I don't think was enough, but I'd recommend getting at least three if you have more than 4. Definitely go for the meat cuts. My friends and I were hankering for some Korean BBQ late last night and decided to go here since they were the only place that was open. I don't regret our decision! First off, I appreciate that this restaurant isn't all you can eat/buffet style type of place. I think those kinds of places are super wasteful. They give you just the right amount of food, so you're full and happy and you don't feel bad about wasting food. The service was amazing, the little old lady helping us was so sweet and attentive. We came in an hour before close but she did not rush us at all. Now onto the food! The meat was some of the best quality meat hands down. We got the combination A which included sirloin steak. I'm not much of a steak fan but my friends were saying it was some of the best they ever had. The other cuts of meat were tender and flavorful, flavor being a thing I find lacking in a lot of Korean bbq joints. Side dishes were okay. Not amazing but they got the job done. The salad was bomb. This place is pricey tho and they charge for rice. Now you know as an Asian I can't eat my meat without rice so damn that little old lady is a thug for charging for it, can't hate on her tho, she got hustle lol. I was hesitant at first to try this place because of the reviews on here about the price and service but still gave it a try. Tbh, Sottukkeong is now my favorite KBBQ place after constantly getting disappointed with the Palace one in Bellevue. We always order combo B coming with beer or soda, steam egg and soybean soup. The pork belly and skirt are always fresh or semi-fresh; brisket is thin, nice marbled cut. Best part is the complementary soybean soup, it's filled with meat, potatoes and goodies. It's true that the price is on the pricy side but I think it's worth it compare to the AYCE places. The lady is so sweet and friendly. The service could be slower but it reminds me of the authentic restaurant experience in Korea, which is different. Food: 4 Star. We ordered a combo that had brisket and ribs (no bones), and a plate of japchae (sp?). Brisket was good quality...sliced thinly and very little fat. The rib meat was good, but we were expecting it to have some flavor. The japchae was really good, but wish they gave more noodles. The side dishes are not bad, but they don't have one of my favorites...the potato salad. There was one side that tastes like the potato salad, but was made with potato noodles instead. The combo comes with beer (I think it used to come with soju, but it was blanked out). If you opt out of the beer, you'll get two cans of soda. The combo also included a hot stone bowl of egg...which was pretty tasty. Service: 3.5 Star. Upon entering, there was nobody there to greet us. There were two or three tables of people dining...one of which had the owner/hostess sitting at. When she finally saw us, she pointed us to a table. About 10 minutes later, we were served some water/barley tea. After ordering, the food took a long time to come out. Luckily we weren't in a rush and didn't really mind. We were hoping that at least the side dishes would come out first, but they came around the same time as everything else. We did not get any water refills nor side dish refills as the server was nowhere to be found...until the end when the check came. Price: 2 Star. Korean food is pretty pricey in general. This place takes it over the edge. For the amount of food we had, it was extremely overpriced. The combo was $55.99 (less than 20 slices of brisket, and a handful and a half of cut up rib meat). The japchae was good, but not $18.99 good. After tax and tip, it came out to $98. While we were full (not AYCR kbbq full), we were expecting more for the price. All in all a decent dining experience. Chung Sol is easily a 4 star joint and on this instance, it was a 5 star experience. On a last minute trip to Seattle the other day, I reached for my handy yelp app and punched in "Korean restaurant" as I do every time I'm in a new city. We were in the Lynwood/Marysville area and initially decided to eat at Ka Won because there were 74 reviews, it was open til 11pm, and it was obviously popular. So we pull up at 9:45pm and ajumma tells us that they're closing?! "Ok, yelp says you're open til 11 and I'm looking at your sign right in front of me and it says 11?! So why are you guys closing?" "If we're slow we close early"??? lol funniest sh*t ever! Whatever. There's a better looking place right accross the parking lot. See ya!! So we pull up to Chung Sol and we were pleasantly suprised because they were somewhat busy for a Monday night at 10pm, and it's a younger crowd. The joint is very clean and very Korean~ish. It would easily blend into the plethora of K-restaurants throughout LA's Koreatown without skipping a beat. I feel at home. So we decided to order sam gyup sal and galbi. As we wait for our meat to come out, ajumma brings out this huge tray of banchan. 12 dishes to be exact! All of which are as authentic as can be. Of course our Cass beer and Cheoeum Cheoleom Soju comes out too, and we quickly start drinking. Our meats eventually come out and we start cooking. It's all seasoned just right. Not overly salty or sweet so you can actually taste the meat and not the sugar/salt. We continue enjoying our food and drink while ajumma is attentive to our needs. She even stops by once in a while to sit next to us and chit chat. She's very sweet. I'm actually glad that Ka Won turned us away because had it not been for that, we wouldn't have found this gem of a place. Again, it's not THE best Korean restaurant out there, but it's much better than anything found in Oregon. The food was a 4 star but the experience and service definitely earned them a 5 star. The atmosphere is very mellow and it is a younger crowd so keep that in mind. If you want to eat gogi and drink soju late at night, this might be your spot! The quality of the food was decent in my standard of "All-You-Can-Eat" Korean BBQ places. The appetizer side dishes were so-so, but most of all disappointing was their menu choice. There was a small selection of meat combinations, any of which were not "endless" and only got one play, and have to pay per dish. In all honesty, if I was going to eat Korean food and it isn't "buffet" style I would not choose this place. Their marinade for their meat was decent. Service was great. I came in here with my wife and 3 kids and my experience was identical to the other one star rating. We ordered three orders of a spicy chicken dish. After we received the dishes, it was clear that we committed a taboo. The lady/owner never checked on us again for anything. We were ignored. When we ordered 3 bows of rice, we had to ask for it, and then waited and waited. Whenever we needed water (three times), we had to ask for it, each time. In fact, one time the owner sat down at a table next to us, saw my kids empty glasses, and did nothing until we said something. There wasn't an obvious reason to be ignored since there was only one other table filled with customers, the entire time. And then to top it off, on our way out, the owner said, "You obviously don't know how to eat spicy food." As we were driving away, my wife and I had a real hard time understanding why the owner was so hostile. Then my wife suggested that it probably was due to the owner thinking we didn't order enough dishes. That something similar happened to another customer. Well, for 2 adults and three kids, I felt a bill of $69 was large enough. So, if you don't mind rude/inattentive service and our willing to order at least $20 per person, then I would give this place 3.5 stars. But if you are someone who doesn't like to blow a lot of money on casual dining and is allergic to discriminatory service, then my rating is spot on. read more

Today I went there with 2kids and 1 adult. We ordered 2 pork belly, and 1 eel. Serving lady dropped one piece of pork to dirty table while she put on the pot. Then she just said sorry then picked it and put it to cooking pot. Do you think it is normal? We thought she change it to new piece but she didn't. Who want to eat dirty piece of meat? How come they use dropped meat and cook it? And one the menu, the price of eel was $22 but they charged it $22.99 and also charged each rice to $2 and total $6 just for rice. (We ordered 3 rice because we ordered 3 menu). Usually most of Korean restaurant charged only for extra rice the customer want to eat more. I really don't want to go there again. We came here on one of the snowy snowy days and were pleased that even while the parking lot remained empty, and the snow thickly iced over everything--Chung-Sol's "open" sign was still on. We were greeted by an elderly friendly couple and because of the snow, an empty restaurant. The food was good, the service was pleasant and the atmosphere was like-able which was exactly what we were looking for. I liked that the restaurant was smaller in scale and the people more attentive. I'm extremely happy with the quality of food, from the banchan to the dishes. I've had the BBQ ribs dish (not AYCE but there is the option to get meat so you can cook it yourself), and while it was expensive at $21+, it was very tender and very juicy and flavorful. The ribs stew (or galbitang) is a must-try. It's really good. Something about it makes you just want to drink and slurp more and more. The yukaijang is great I heard, and the suhlungtang was great but not as good as the galbitang. Love the lovely old ladies who work there.. they make you feel right at home! read more

We were so impressed with the whole Korean BBQ experience that we set off on adventure to try all the Korean BBQ we could find. We found some good spots, but all of our meals ended the same way.. "it's not Chung Sol" . We still try to keep an eye out for new places, because we're adventurous eaters. As of now, we've never encountered a better experience that Chung Sol. There's a lady who works there..she now tends to work the back while her son works the front. She is an absolute hoot. She has a motherly feel that's beyond precious. Her son is on the spot, customer service and a cool cat. We really enjoy this place. It's more like coming home for a good family meal. I've read some of the reviews here and have a hard time understanding what happened. My only guess is the dishes you order are typically for one person. You'd want to order about 1 per person or 4 for 5. It looks like the previous reviewer may have ordered 1 and shared it. I don't know. But, I say give it go and see what you think. The place is pretty cool. You'd have to see it to appreciate it. Wifey and I have our standards. We do one of two things.. we either order from one of the wall menu items (you'll understand when you see it), which includes soju or beer :) . ..or.. we'll order bulgulgi and short ribs..sometimes LA style. Although the LA style doesn't have much of a portion for the cost. It's hard to resist because they're grubbin'. We also get them to marinate everything. This restaurant is an interesting place because it's sort of your hole in the wall type place with good hometown style food (if you're from Korea), nice family run service, and also a good place for drinking. Yup, it's also a nice drinking place if you want to sit around late at night eating Korean food and drink a lot of soju. The dahk gal bi (chicken cooked in front of you) is great and really by far the best thing to order on the menu. The best part of this is at the end when they mix in rice to make some fried rice. The woman who owns the place is the main cook and she's great...reminds me of my own mom. read more
