Went to Sam's Square Pie in Fountain Square for dinner with a friend and the food was absolutely incredible!! Parking is terrible to figure out, but that's FS for you. This pizza...holy crap. Best pizza in Indy! The crust was crunchy, soft and bounced back. Truly can tell by taste, looks and texture that's it's made in house. If you haven't been here yet--you're missing out.

From the outside, it's an unassuming spot on 10th street but it's totally worth a stop! The staff was so friendly and the owner was so warm and genuinely welcoming to everyone who came in. It seemed like there were a lot of first-timers in and I really appreciated him telling us where to order, etc. right away. We ordered garlic knots with vodka sauce and a "just kissed my baby" pizza. Each came out pretty quickly and both were incredible!! We could've eaten that vodka sauce with a spoon. Will definitely recommend and be back again! Lots of parking available in a lot behind the building and on the street off 10th.

It's all about the chewy and cheesy crust from Sam's Square Pie. It truly sets it apart from the pack. Not to mention the beautiful box design For Christmas this year, I gifted my husband a "diy weekly pizza pass" and we kicked things off with Sam's. The pie made its way home still hot and we loved the sweet salty dough, paired with the chewy cheese, honey glaze combination. It packed a punch and we'll definitely be coming back for more. They offer a small dine in space but we opted for carryout. It was faster than I expected for a deep dish style pizza. Highly recommend!

We are in town for the Indy 500 and decided to try this local eatery. The pizza was beyond delicious! We ordered the El Jefe and my husband reports it is the best pizza he's ever eaten in his life. I don't disagree. The restaurant has an eclectic vibe and the owners are fabulous people. They're very welcoming and happy to give us recommendations on what to order. The whole place had an eclectic chill vibe with 80's music pumping at the perfect volume to enjoy and also be able to have a conversation with the people around you. We met locals and enjoyed the game on the TV in front of us at the bar. The restaurant probably seats 25 people with 7 to 8 tables and a bar that seats about eight people. They serve beer and wine spritzer's. I found them on Yelp and as always, Yelp did not disappoint!

Greeted by the owner when we walked in. That man doesn't know a stranger such a nice guy. Hugged me and thanked me for coming in. It's order at the counter service. We order two pizzas and garlic knots two canned sodas. The food was fresh delicious. If you want water it's free in a water cooler by the register. Also bottle water for purchase. Just go the vibes were good and buying local is always better . Keep in mind it's not Pizza Hut so the pizzas you get from those places aren't available here.

First time here. I've seen a lot about this place and heard that it was one of the best pizza places in town. And it lived up to its billing. We started off with the garlic knots. They were really soft a great garlic flavor on them and had some cheese to dip them in. They were very hot and were really excellent. Not too heavy but still really good. Also, we had the El jefe pizza with sausage, three kinds of pepperoni, hot honey and ricotta cheese. It was incredible great cheesy crispy crust nice thick Detroit style crust. And the toppings were excellent with the sauce on top and then topped with a dollop of ricotta cheese. The honey gave it a really nice sweet flavor and some a little hot aftertaste. The pepperoni was great sausage was great overall it was one of the best pizzas I have had in town. We got drinks out of the refrigerator, canned and bottled. But they also have a bar, but we just chose to do cokes. The atmosphere is really cool lots of Indianapolis area memorabilia kinds of things and references. A really cool space very welcoming friendly. Small seating area, maybe six or eight tables. But plenty of space for us. The guy that helped us to get our order in talk to us through the entire menu and was very friendly welcome rest in and told us to have a nice week when we left. Highly recommend.

10/10 -- easily one of the best pizzas I've had in Indiana, hands down! We ordered the El Jefe and the Sticky Icky and both were absolutely incredible. The ricotta on the El Jefe truly takes it to the next level and seals the deal. I'm already looking forward to going back to try more of their menu. If you've been debating it -- just get the pizza. It's more than worth it. The service was impeccable and the vibes were fantastic from start to finish!

Good gluten free pizza is hard to come by, but Sam's Square Pie knocks it out of the park!! My expectations were exceeded with their GF Detroit style pizza and I cannot wait to order again! The crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings were perfection!

The pizza was amazing and Sam treated us like regulars. Best pizza we've had in Indy and maybe anywhere. We will be back

First let me start off by saying that the owner is wonderful! I feel like the atmosphere of the place just makes you feel like you're in for a good time. As for the food itself, one of the best pizzas I've had by far. I loved the crispy edges, the jalapeño ricotta cheese gives it a nice touch as well. A lot of flavors going on. They also have beef pepperoni for those who don't eat pork, a very nice substitute. Absolutely will be coming back.

Talk about the nicest people ever??!! Sam's square pie was delicious. We ordered granny style "vodka roni granny" and added pesto and burrata. We also got garlic knots and tiramisu.. which were delicious. This place has good local beers on draft and a fun vibe inside. The owner, Sam, explained the menu to us and guided us on our order. 10/10 no notes!! (We street parked for free right outside the restaurant)

Stopped in for pizza to share with a friend while we planned a road trip. It's in my neighborhood so I did carry out and walked. Note prep time can take a while-plan ahead. So. As a native New Yorker, I prefer the East coast pizza style, but this pizza... I think it's called "Detroit" style, a saucy, thick crust but not like a deep dish. After much deliberation, I chose the Loving Cup-pepperoni, sausage & pesto + red sauce and cheese. I ordered online and left my house minutes ahead of the pickup. My order ready text arrived en route. The guy at the counter was very friendly and the interior had some tables and chairs and a few good beers on tap, in addition to some canned options and cider. The pizza had crispy, carmelized edges, generous toppings and the crust a nice crunchy exterior and soft interior. The pricing may seem high but this is a very filling pizza. I may have dreamed of my leftovers. I'm thrilled to have Sam's close to home. I heard this place gets busy during peak times. Plan ahead, it's worth it.

My girls and I went Friday night to Sam's Square Pie. It is everything and more! When you walk in, you are immediately greeted by the friendliest counter staff. She is very helpful in talking you through the menu and what might meet your taste. We went with the garlic knots and El Jeffe pizza. The garlic knots were light and fresh and were coated with real butter and fresh garlic. They were delicious! Then, comes the pizza ! It is to die for! It is a Detroit style pizza. The crust is light and airy. It is not heavy at all. Then it is encrusted in crunchy cheese edges. There is a good amount of cheese on the pizza. The meat that comes with the el jeffe is pepperoni and sausage. There was a large amount of pepperoni on the pizza. It is then topped with fresh sauce whipped jalapeño ricotta cheese and topped of with Mike's hot honey. Once you take a bite, all you can say is OMG this is delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant is really artsy which I love ! You must give Sam's Square Pie a try! read more

I'm convinced the people of Indiana don't know what pizza should actually taste or be like. Waited an hour after being quoted 30 mins for a $42 Detroit style pepperoni pie. It was more like they baked the dough (absolutely delicious, I'll give you that), took it out of the oven, then poured an insane amount of sauce over it and scattered some pepperoni on top at the very last minute. Nothing was cohesive or seemed baked together. I've had much much better pies of this style at a far less price point both in Indy and in NJ. Super disappointed & greasy. read more

In the top two best pizza places in Indy for me. This Detroit style pizza will change your life! Love the thick focaccia-like crust, cheese on top, then sauce on top of that. The El Jefe is a must get. The combo of hot honey and pepperoni hits different! Also must get is the garlic knots. They're so soft and buttery and perfectly seasoned, you'll never want another chain pizza breadstick or garlic bread ever again! Whatever you do, make sure you try the ranch too. They're very prompt with having their online orders ready at the designated pickup time for carry out but there's also some space to sit inside as well. The workers are super friendly. I ordered a pizza, garlic knots, and two drinks and the girl behind the counter offered to help me carry everything to my car. The pizza is super filling and the slices are big. A small one with garlic knots definitely feeds 2-3 if you're debating what size to get! read more

Great Detroit style pizza in Indy. Had the Just Kissed my baby pizza and their garlic cheese bread which were awesome. We were worried the jalapeño garlic ricotta may be too spicy but was not the case at all! Caramelized crust was done perfectly. Bread base is thicker like you'd expect in this style pizza. Honestly the two items alone we ordered could easily feed a family of four. We did takeout and service was efficient and friendly. Will be back! read more

My friend and I stumbled into Sam's Square Pie while visiting Another Fine Mess and just needed to sit for a minute and get a drink. The service and staff were amazing. The murals and paintings are amazing, all hand painted by an employee. I wasn't hungry so didn't plan to order anything. While we were there, a couple of people received their order of El Jeffe. It looked so good I ordered one to take home. Best pizza I have ever had. I am not adding a picture because there are several already posted. The garlic knots were swimming in garlic butter...they were delicious. Because the staff is so friendly, it is a very comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend Sam's Square Pie! read more

Wonderful locally owned business in the heart of Indy's East Side. The shop was warm and welcoming with fun and eclectic decor. Staff was friendly and did a great job of making recommendations as it was our first time there. We started with the garlic knots. They were hot and fresh and had a wonderful flavor with plenty of melted butter. Pizzas came out with the most amazing crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside crust. Toppings were plentiful and premium in quality. A large size had 8 generous slices. We enjoyed the Bitchin Camaro and Crush star. Both were flavorful and delicious. Experience was 10/10! This dude should go back to filming NFL games. The pizza isn't what he thinks it is unless you like sticking dry wash cloths in your mouth. Read the negative reviews on here and Google, every one of them he belittles the writer for their opinion. Arrogant condescending A hole. Drove from Lafayette to Indy to try this spot. I had been following them on social media for a few years and rooting them on through their journey. The hype is real! This is wonderful Detroit style pizza. The bread is incredibly pillowy, the toppings high quality and the crust is to die for. Garlic knots are out of this world. I cannot recommend this place enough! EDIT: this spot is so good we made the 65 min drive from the second weekend in a row. read more

Hands down some of the best pizza I have ever experienced. Currently plotting how I will hide the leftovers from my partner so I can selfishly enjoy them to myself. Besides the amazing pizza (we ordered El Jefe ), the people are super nice and the service was quick and polite! Brand new pizza spot in Indianapolis that I couldn't recommend more, specialising in Detroit style and square pizza. The food is amazing, decor is interesting with a genuine, enjoyable setting, but the thing that stood out most about this place was the service and owner. My friend and I came in relatively late on July 4th but he was incredibly pleasant and went out of his way to make conversation with us, explaining the history of square pizza, the recent history of this spot as well as expressing interest in how we got to Indianapolis (we're from London) and why we came in on that day! HIGHLY recommend this place and will be going back many times! read more

The food here is absolutely phenomena. I stopped in with my fiancée and mother yesterday and was shocked by the quality of the crust! Crunchy, airy and delicious. My personal favorite was the garlic jalapeño ricotta cheese topped on my pizza! The service was also incredible as well! Definitely will stop by again and good luck in Vegas! read more

AMAZING Detroit-style pizza! We live in New York and travel often throughout the U.S., so we've had a lot of great pizza over the years, but this is near the top. Perfectly crunchy outer crust, super flavorful toppings, and gooey brick cheese - everything you could ask for and more from a great Detroit-style pizza. Very friendly team as well! read more

Food and service are both 10/10! This is hands down the best pizza in Indy! Fresh ingredients and made with love! The owner was so nice and I had the privilege of meeting his mom that day, she was visiting. Such a sweet lady! You can see where he gets it from. What a great place overall! When Emeril opened in the warehouse, District people thought he was insane. The warehouse District in New Orleans is now booming. When I drove up to Sam Square pies. I thought he lost his mind until I tasted the pizza and realised Indy will build homes and Security to resurrect this area based on this new landmark. I've had pizza at Pepe e grani, Lucali Spago and Bianco. This pizza definitely stands up to those greats. As I just said to a friend, it's pizza worth risking your life for. read more

Some of the best pizza in the city. Dough was nice and fluffy with a good crust on the edge, the sauces were super flavorful, and flavor combo was great of the pizza. Loved this pizza!! I have been such a big fan of Detroit style pizza recently and Sam's hit the spot. The dough was so good and their unique flavor profiles were great. The garlic knots were SMOTHERED in garlic butter and paired so nicely with their red sauce. We got this pizza to go, but the server/hostess at the front was so kind even though she was busy doing multiple roles. Will definitely be coming back here to try other pizza they have. read more

I am really interested to try the Sicilian style from here, as no other pizza spot in Indy has really made an effort to feature that particular style. Went to website to order but not seeing where I can specify which style pizza to order. Any help?
