The food here is so good! I am a big fan of Mediterranean food as well. I ended up getting the Lesley plate and forgot to take a picture: I hate that.... But next time because I forgot sure will be back. The service was great, the owner was very polite and friendly. I told him I was in a rush and he definitely took account to that!

You can find Samad Mediterranean at 8897 Roswell Rd Sandy Springs, GA 30350 - this is towards the left side of a long row of retail businesses in a rather tired shopping area just before you approach the river (bottom of the hill) headed north on Roswell Rd. There's tons of parking. I've eaten at the lunch counter at Samad several times, usually getting plates over wraps - the plates are essentially decomposed wraps where the pita comes as wedges instead of whole bread (typically you can ask for it uncut), with a couple of sides. The place is fairly divey - with a small grocery store off to one side for Mediterranean spices and dried herbs. You order at the counter and pick up by order number. I'm a fan of the gyro meat - nice juicy mix of lamb and beef. I also like their hummus, creamy/smooth - in general the prices are reasonable and the food good. Previously I always went to the now defunct Aladdin nearby (miss that place) but this is my go to for gyros, especially when coming back from a hike in the park. Service is good but you would expect it to be at the counter. Bathrooms could use a remodel but they seem to be relatively clean every time I visit. It can get a bit noisy here as it's a large space and the line can get long at lunch - I'm not sure what it's like during dinner.

Pretty good place, quick service, reasonable prices. The place is a little run down looking but it's fine. The food was okay. I felt like there was some flavor missing, especially in the hummus. I would get the Greek salad again and ask them to not cover it in salad dressing but I would never get the hummus again.

Had a great Kafta wrap, $8 plus tax. Great deal and taste, fresh veggies, delicious sauce. Perfect!

It's quite a rare occurrence when you're able to find a restaurant that serves quick and delicious food on the fly, at a super low cost. Behold, Samad Mediterranean, my new stop for Mediterranean food in the Sandy Springs area. From what I understand, this restaurant is a family establishment that simply does things the right way. They offer tasty and authentic food while providing friendly service. They're popular in the area and bring life to an otherwise barren strip mall. The menu is designed to provide different handheld and plate options to get you in and out fairly quickly. Plates typically come with some meat, rice and a few sides. The Moe Meat Plate is a glamourous option for carnivores, as it contains kafta, chicken and gyro meat on top of a bed of rice with hummus. Samad really does a great job with their meats. They're all super tender and seasoned perfectly. You can see all of the meats spinning on the gyro broiler and it just makes your mouth water. When your dish comes in front of you, it smells and tastes fantastic. The hummus is also a fantastic consistency and fresh tasting. The bargain of the restaurant are the handhelds. You can get a full gyro with a side of fries or a salad for less than $10! The gyro is prepared well, the ratio of veggies to meat to sauce is great. All of the flavors combine well, and again, taste fresh! An underrated point, but their fries complement the meal well. They were hot, crispy and seasoned well. Nothing about this restaurant tastes or feels heavy or oily, which is a nice feeling once you've finished. There isn't much to the decor or the interior, but I feel like it really works with this restaurant, it doesn't ruin the aesthetic. Everything about this place gives you a "local family restaurant vibe" and I'm all for it. I will definitely be back to try the many other things I have yet to try. I also have noticed a small grocery in the back. Looks like I'll need to check it out on my next visit.

Amazing as always. Our favorite go to quick dinner. The food is so so good and priced well. You must ask for an extra side of garlic sauce :)

The food was incredible. I ordered the moe more meat platter and it was absolutely delicious and high quality meat. The food arrived in just 7 min and was nice and hot. The restaurant had a very calming ambiance and the restrooms were clean. They also have really cool money wall with bills from many countries!

The positives I can pick out here is that they are probably some of the nicest employees I've ever encountered and was super generous, kind, and helpful on my very first visit. The food is also very delicious and I'm certainly going to return. The good far outweigh the bad but I would have some feedback. I got a traditional gyro and salad. Salad was far overdressed and was sogging wet. I was however surprised that it was actually really delicious. Had I closed my eyes I might never have known it was overdressed. It has a simple lemon salad dressing and was arugula based. For only a $2 add-on I would consider it again. The gyro itself wasn't quite filled as large as some others I've had. It also didn't have fresh produce on it like diced tomatoes or shredded lettuce, but I love the simplicity of the gyro and sauce which both were excellent and I also really like that they grilled the pita. The inside or outside of the restaurant certainly isn't too beautiful, but it's definitely clean and for what a great price their food is, I will definitely return.

Lesley's plate and kebab plate, beets and order of hummus.

Ask the Community - Samad Mediterranean

Hey Samad...do you you need to change your Hours on Yelp and your website? Both say you are open on Sundays, yet you were closed when we tried to order in June 13. Is it a holiday of some sort? Either way, you should make a note on both platforms.

We have been open on Sundays. We open at 12 and close at 8.

Is it a halal place to eat at?

Am not sure, please give them a call... Good food here. Thanks.

I ordered a simple Bombay martini and one of the specialty cocktails for my wife. The bartender made my martini in a shaker and I remember hearing him asking someone else to stir it for him. For the next ten minutes or more, the bartender proceeded to make drinks for the waiters, I remember him spilling out two drinks and remaking them while my martini continued diluting in the melting Ice. Ten minutes or more later, he pours my martini into more of a champagne coup glass than a martini glass, and I waited another five minutes or more for my wife to get her drink. When I tasted the upmartini, It tasted so diluted, just bad, almost commical to me. I just laughed to myself because i've tended bar for a living and that was about the worst martini i've ever had in my life. Either Rumi is watering down his booze or the ice melted so much that there was barely a gin taste in the glass. I think their gig is rather than give you a real martini level pour they dilute you with so much melted Ice that you think you're getting a full pour martini, when, in fact, what you're getting is half gin and half melted ice. And believe ME, you are charged as though it was a real martini. The place was pretty busy, so a lot of people must not have a clue... or just like busy places. If everybody says, this is such a great place, I guess it's gotta be. Unfortunately, that's just Atlanta-if it's popular everyone just assumes it's good or pretends it is. I don't do well with pretend. Next after being seated at the table, i tried to order wine least expensive wines (so overpriced)-they were out of all of the lower-end overpriced wines I tried to order. It just bugs me to overpay so much for bottles of table wine. They're barely twenty dollars charging, 60-80 for them. But of course, ten minutes after I ordered the wine, this happened twice, the waiter told me they were out of the ones i was trying to order ( everyone must have had the same idea). Oh well. Right before the table was served the main course, the waiter and manager came to tell me that they had run out of the dish I ordered. I ended up replacing it with their duck dish that I had never heard of before but what the hell I'll try it (maybe I deserve it, because I remember my father always told me you never ordered duck in a strange restaurant you don't know) Everyone else at the table of 8 were served their meals ten minutes before my plate arrived. i'm like, please go ahead and start without me. Then, the duck arrives. I mean, if you're such a Rumi's, fan, try the duck and tell me what you think. First of all, it was lukewarm for something that apparently had just been made. The lukewarm duck comes 'in" this purple sauce, I mean, it wasn't even swimming in the purple sauce-It was submerged in the purple sauce. The waiter, of course, later brought me the wrong type of rice than the one i oredered..That's okay they brought me a new one right away. I was really starving at the time, but if I hadn't been, I don't think I would have eaten any of the duck. Being submerged in a kind of a sickening, putple sweet sauce it just wasn't appetizing at all. Challenge: if you're a big Rumi's fan, go ahead and please try the duck, but you have to try it like I did- lukewarm temptation. Then tell me if you remain an unconditionalRumi's fan. The bread is delicious though. To their credit when I tried to order 2 glasses of red wine after my meal was served, they did give us the vin de table for free. I won't be coming back here anytime soon.

For food, I have tried complimentary Sabzi plate, Zafron Special, Grilled Chicken Wings, Khoresh Badenjoon and Lubia Polo. I will describe them detailly below. 1. Sabzi: sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, walnuts, herbs, feta. Served with perfectly baked Naan 2. Zafron Special: an interesting app with mashed eggplant, diced mango, chopped green onions, herbs, and chili oil. Had a refreshing heat and sweetness. Perhaps the spiciest dish I've ever had in Persian restaurants! 3. Wings: I have tried the wings in Delbar, Divan and Yalda before, but Zafron's were just next-level. Perfectly coated in Saffron marinade, nicely charred, amazingly crispy skin and juicy meat. The side sauce was sweet and slightly spicy, whcih paired well with the wings. 4. Khoresh Badenjoon: Basically beef, eggplant and tomato stew. Compared to the similar items in Rumi's, Delbar and Sufi's, this one has the boldest flavor. It does not have beans (so good for a FODMAP control diet) and used lots of dried limes and (whole) cardamoms, which created a very bright, sour base. Compared to Rumi's and Sufi's version, this one also had more, and larger chunks of beef, which gave more texture when you take a bite. The eggplant was delicious, but I wish it could be skin-on like the one in Delbar. 5. Lubia Polo: Basically green beans and diced beef cooked with rice. I only had Lubia Polo in Rumi's Sandy Springs before. In comparison, this one had more beef, and slightly less salty, but did not have as much tomato paste. **Note** the comparisons are only for the purpose of a clearer description of the dishes. For service, the waiting time for both food and check were reasonable, and the staff were all friendly. During my second visit my server gave me 0.5lb of baked naan and extra Sabzi when I asked for a to-go box for just the leftovers... For vibe, it was quieter than many other popular Persian restaurants (but I like more noise haha), and thus walk-ins are possible. The trees inside the restaurant were beautiful. In short, highly recommended. I will definitely visit again to discover more dishes!

The interior is very mom and pop with soft lighting and old ceiling tiles but well maintained with an obvious attention to detail and care. You can squeeze maybe one bigger party inside if you really want. I snagged a lamb sandwich on recommendation; it comed your choice of a chopped salad, cup of soup, or rice. I ended up going with the soup of the day which is a curry chickpea. The lamb sandwich was a definite winner. There's a lot of care and that same attention to detail to constructing it. There was a 15ish minute wait but perfectly acceptable since it all came out fresh. The lamb slices were super juicy and flavorful and the sauce added that extra spicy but not too spicy kick that went well with the softness of the pita and the crunch of the fresh lettuce. The soup was piping hot so I had to wait a few minutes to let it cool but flavorful and smooth. I'd gotten it as a potential dip but the sandwich did'nt need it so I'd probably go with the chopped salad next time. Overall, Cafe Sababa does a lot of what I enjoy in Mediterranean.
