Yes, it's that good. The main reason to go is the toum - emulsified garlic in oil. Like really garlic mayo - creamy. Excellent sauce. Put it on everything you eat. They've got amazing fresh salads and they'll let you pick any as your sides, regardless of what the menu says it comes with. So instead of rice and house salad, you can get beets or cabbage salad or arugula salad or romaine salad, or tabbouleh. Their meats are well seasoned and juicy and so flavorful. The fried cauliflower is divine. The space is simple and feels like a grocery store (and you can buy groceries to take with you) but the food is amazing. read more

This place was recommended to me and honestly I could not get past the service and lack of cleanliness. The woman taking orders isn't interested in having a job clearly. She was snippy with a customer ahead of me in line and unnecessarily aggressive. I see reviews saying "look past atmosphere" yet we are in a pandemic! Open 10 months this restaurant is a "hidden gem" in a almost empty shopping center that once upon a time was a thriving business. I will have to assume that people just don't know Samad is in here for lack of traffic. When first walking in I wasn't impressed and almost turned around and walked out but it was getting late in the day and was in need of lunch/dinner. Scoutmob got me here and figure I would stay and try it out, it was worth the drive. I was having a problem making a decision the first time in and the man behind the counter quickly grabbed a plate and put small spoonfuls of five different types of salads on it and handed it over they were interesting the tabouli and hummus were the favorites. "Thank you." Chicken kabob(s) are nice and tender the meat is char grilled and placed over rice, served with a grilled tomato, "pick a salad" and served with pita $9.99. The "Leslye plate" is large with a mix of chicken, gyro meat, a salad, hummus and pita $10.00. The chicken has been tender every time even when "to go." Being a huge fan of garlic "the bonus" is a cup of garlic spread it is OMG Good put this on Everything ! (I use the leftover spread for steamed veggies at home.) If you're looking for "fancy or foo foo" forget it the food here is served on Styrofoam, the portions are large and you can't beat the prices there is nothing here over $13.00. read more

Excellent traditional Mediterranean food. The chicken was to DIE for!! I had the beet salad as a side and was in heaven. You must try the garlic sauce...it's garlic (tons) and olive oil whipped together and it looks like mayonnaise. I could eat that all day and night and it would definitely keep the vampires far away. The owners are a husband and wife team. The husband cooks and the wife takes the orders. The wife was super friendly and helpful in explaining what all the foods were. There are also some imported snacks and goods for sale in the area near the register. Prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere needs some sprucing up but it looks like they are working on that based on some construction and painting going on inside the space. I hope this place stays around a long time. MUST CHECK THIS PLACE OUT. Right now, this med deli is hidden behind construction, but thanks to Yelp, I found it and was able to experience all of its amazing yumminess. This little establishment is run by a husband and wife who love what they do and the customers. They will walk you through everything to explain what everything is if you've never had mediterranean before. My brother has extensive allergies and they went through all the ingredients to make sure it was all okay for him to eat. With veggie and falafel options, this place is vegan friendly. I'd be lying if I said I didn't eat from here at least every other week. Samad's is the best middle eastern cuisine that I've ever had. On top of that, they are ultra consistent and SUPER friendly. My go to is the hummus app and the veggie kabob meal. The veggie kabob meal comes with two skewers of veggies, a heaping portion of rice, a salad, a grilled tomato, some kind of delicious garlic sauce/paste and a massive pita. If you'd rather have more rice, or a side of hummus instead of the garlic sauce, they'll swap it out for you with no hassle (if you do that, I'd suggest more rice and less salad). As a bit of a hummus snob, I can tell you truly that I've never tasted hummus this good. It's honestly kind of ruined hummus for me because of how good it is. It's fluffy and velvety with a healthy drizzle of EVOO and a pinch of sumac -- super traditional, super authentic and super good. It also comes with two pitas that have been grilled and quartered. The portion sizes are pretty good -- it's enough for dinner and a snack (for me at least). The hummus appetizer usually lasts about 2-3 days with how much they give you. All of this for food that is really inexpensive for how good it is (my bill is usually around 25 bucks or so for two veggie plates and a thing of hummus). What the restaurant lacks in ambiance, it makes up for with how friendly everyone is that works there. They seem happy to have people come on and eat their food. I've never felt like I was a bother or unwelcome -- even with all the questions I ask most times I go. There is also a little market in the dining area with odds and ends. 5/5. No doubt in my mind that this food is authentic and made with care. The owners are very nice and helpful if you aren't familiar with the menu. I got the moe meat plate which was loaded down with hearty protein, plenty of pita and rice, and lots of garlic sauce and taziki. Maybe I just love Mediterranean food or the places around here are just all good, but this place is no exception. The food and service were very good and we were allowed to sample the salads before ordering. They all looked very good and they all taste very good. I ordered the gyro wrap with fries, salad, and a drink for $8.99 (I think) and everything was great. The fries were crinkle fries that I normally don't care for, but they were fresh and crispy and were good. My gf got the lamb kabob plate that came with rice, salad, hummus, and a whole pita. The lamb was one of the best I've had anywhere! There was no gamey flavor (you know, that strong taste a lot of lamb has because it may not be the freshest or some from some place with lesser lambs from what I can imagine) and it was cooked just right. The pieces of lamb were very tender and had a goodssds non-gamey flavor. The salads we got were the garbanzo bean salad and the broccoli salad. I liked the broccoli salad, but my gf said it had too much mayonnaise. I can see that, but I still liked it. The other salads we were able to sample were very good tooo. I don't think you can go wrong. We also ordered the fried cauliflower which was very good. I don't normally like cauliflower because its gross when steamed or boiled, but fried made the top parts crunchy and good in a not raw way. The sauce on top was also tasty. It was some sort of mayo sauce, but it wasnt over-poweringly mayonnaise-ey if that makes sense. I would definitely come back and try their other wraps or kabobs. I did a togo order at the restaurant and the lady working at the register told me she is owners wife and my total order was for 27.95$ and i asked for a copy of my receipt she didn't give me one and told me i don't need to sign anything and later on i checked my credit card statement they added extra on their own without my consent to that 27.95$ ... so its credit card theft that they are doing if you want tip il add myself whatever i want to tip but these crooks are adding tips by themselves whatever amount they want on a togo order .. it was my second time at this restaurant and the last time too ... and when i called and spoke to the same lady she got attitude and said she doesn't remembers that ... i dont know with how many customers they do like that in a day n most people dont even check their statements i did n i found out they are just adding extra by themselves.... I'm very frustrated by this place. Yes the food is great. Yes the owners are friendly. However they will NOT make ANY substitutes for their menu, not even if you are highly allergic to that item. Even though I had to pay extra for a side of rice and I told them over and over to please not include the pita and hummus, there is pita bread on top of my food. I'm not that highly allergic to gluten that I get sick by it touching my other food - thank God. But a lot of people are. And I don't get it. It's been a long time since I reviewed a place, but this one is definitely worth mentioning!! We're still relatively new to Sandy Spring, so we aimlessly drove around to see what looks good, and found this place in a renovated shopping strip. A true mom and pop shop, my husband and I got the chance to meet the awesome owner, Lesley. She was gracious as she took our order during a busy lunch, and her kids manned the floor. I ordered the Tracy plate and my husband, the gyro. Probably the best gyro I ever had in my life. The meat was not dried out, but tender and pleasantly flavorful. The gyro was the star of the show and it simply blew me away. Everything else we enjoyed was very fresh and well seasoned. We're looking forward to our next visit to try other items. Lesley shared how they have been in operation for the past 8 years. They were one of the few shops to stay open during the renovation and I can see why!
