My husband is Venezuelan and he let me know how authentic this place was, the only other Venezuelan food I've had is homemade by his mom. I've been out of the yelp game for a while but had to pop in to talk about this spot. It has been almost a year since I first tried it and I am still obsessed. I crave Saman a MINIMUM of once a week, especially on the weekends when I wanna treat myself. The arepas, as well as all the ingredients, are delicious. I usually get it with pernil, reina pepiada and queso de mano, which I recommend (don't forget the butter hehe). The cachapas are also amazing. My favorites are the empanadas! They make them fresh when ordered so I usually call ahead so that they're ready for me when I get there. The staff is great too, plus they don't judge me for coming in so often. Disclaimer: I am Cuban so I wasn't exposed to this type of food until recently; however, my boyfriend is from Venezuela and although he claims everything is better over there, he agrees that Saman is excellent. I should have listened to the reviews. Just as other yelpers stated. The arepas are not only extremely hard and unfresh, but the chicken is so salty I can't take more than 1 bite without water by me. I couldn't help noticing that they had one of my favorite dishes "sopa de res" I ordered one without hesitation , my wife went with "Pabellón Criollo" the staple in Venezuelan cuisine , then we ordered a Papaya juice, which they make fresh upon ordering, and an order of tequeños, yes they were spot on when we got garlic sauce and guasacaca sauce, both very typical and very delicious , the friendly service and the ambiance is enough for us to love a place , but when you add the incredible flavor each item had it was a win win for us , we got hooked , and we can't wait to return this coming Sunday for empanadas or arepas or anything from their menu as we l ow we won't be disappointed , really , well done guys !
