We were pleasantly surprised with Sammy's Cafe. We lunched on fish tacos and fish and chips. The batter used on the fish is very tasty and the fish wasn't fishy. I've been there twice now and had trouble with both waitress one never wrote the order down and got mine wrong and the guy behind me wrong then when I asked her a question on how much was taco Tuesday she said she would find out but never came back the second time I was there I ordered breakfast and what I got was not what the menu had describe it and was told basically to bad I will never go back for a new place they should get their act together read more

Stop serving frozen food. Chicken wings where hard and old. Reduce the items on the menu. We visit this place in the month of August 2024.

Stopped there for the first time today. The service was nice. People were very attentive, but the food had no flavor at all. I got the Mexican platter which had wings, nachos, quesadillas, and a few other things I couldn't point out. Was a little messy food, buffalo sauce all over the nachos. My husband got the chili cheese burger, which he said was satisfying. His fries were good. My son got the French toast, kids meal and they had no flavor to them. Just talked to someone at Sammy's Cafe. We stopped by a couple of weeks ago and they were closed even though it said they should still be open. The person I spoke with told me that when it's slow they'll just go ahead and close. There is no notice on the door and the people inside just look at you and then ignore you. We've gone there several times, but knowing that they close whenever they feel like it, has made me decide not to go there again since you won't know if they will be open or not. read more

We went twice to try this new cafe which once was bobs big boy. The place is clean, nice new booths, fresh paint. Staff was nice but there it ends. The music was blasting!! Today's stuff that's called music. How can anyone relax, enjoy theirselfs and have a conversation over blasting noise????. In today's world it seems to be the normal way to go out and enjoy yourself. I spoke to staff about it. I told them the noise ( I cant call it music) blasting and were here twice and won't be back. He just shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal. Terrible, every thing you order is completely over cooked as if they honestly don't know how to prepare your food. Scrambled Eggs over cooked way too much, they are brown. Fried chicken dinner, chicken dark brown and dry dry dry with the smallest pieces, I thought it was a pigeon. The vegetables actually was turning brown. How do you continue to allow this service. 4 visits and the only thing that was decent was menudo but it was lacking. My wife and I decided we would try out the newest neighborhood restaurant. I placed a to-go order for my wife. She wanted to try their Hot Beef Dip sandwich. She picked up our order and drove home to Beaumont. Upon opening her sandwich, there was no "Au Jus", even though the menu said it came with Au Jus. She called the restaurant and informed them about the missing Au Jus and the employee told her that she should come back and pick it up???? The building is old so some parts look like it's falling apart. Server was kind but took a long time to simply get our drink order, almost 40min to get our food. I'd say quality of food is comparable to Denny's and for me that's not a good thing. We won't be returning. read more

Initial contact by host was prompt, however wait staff took a rather long time before coming to take my order (10min). Food arrived in reasonable time. We came in to Sammys on 6/9/24. Was instantly welcomed in and sat down and given driven. The lady at the front was great. However, after about 15 minutes, no server came to welcome us or take or order. The drink flavoring was terrible, most likely ratios were off and we will not be going back. Lets start this review with the "ambiance" of the restaurant. if you were a customer of the original "Bob's Big Boy" restaurant, you'l be pleased to see that the decor is still the same including the statue of Bobs's Big Boy greeting you at the entrance. Very little inside has changed to reflect new ownership, except the menu. The menu is huge, it's impossible to decipher if they were trying to deciding to open an American style restaurant or a Mexican restaurant. So they decided to include both styles in their offerings. Which to this writer is a huge mistake as trying to maintain all the different food ingre required to sustain this menu would result in stocking/storage issues and freshness problems to name a few. More on that later. The service was impeccable, my waiter "Jesus" was friendly and came back multiple times to ask if I needed anything, Refilled beverages without me asking and removed dining plates when finished promptly. The restaurant was clean and tidy but here I will note that when I entered around 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning, I was the only customer there. Two more couples came in during the course of my visit. Now the food. Because of the lack of patrons and the extensive menu, I elected for a simple breakfast. A bone in ham steak, eggs over easy, hash browns, white toast and coffee. The coffee was good, the eggs cooked perfectl, the hash browns okay. The toast was the chewiest bread I've ever encountered, really different. The bone in ham steak was a processed offering with what appeared to be a bone inserted to replicate a real ham steak. I only took 3 small bites as the flavor was not good. I suspect it wasn't fresh and possibly past it's "due" for consumption date. All in all, after being open for only approximately 2 months maybe the kinks haven't been worked out completely. I'm ready to give them another try at a later date and wish them well and success. read more

We recently tried the new Sammy's. A bit of a wait for service, but once our waiter came service good. Food was very tasty and plentiful. I had a chef salad and my husband and a friend had Sammy's speciality sandwiches. After reading the reviews I'm not sure I will try it. Some of the reviews seemed to be encouraged by the owner. Another question is why move into a place that's been closed for years and be told you're not able to change anything. It also seems lack of staff training is an issue . Don't open unless you have tested all the systems, maybe close and regroup . No reason we should be paying to be test dummies . You don't get it right you wont last . read more

So you start a business at a old existing business (bobs big boys) you would think they would remodel and make everything nice but no let's keep it nasty and gross and have a basic menu with frozen fries like what's hard about making good food and fresh make a simple menu idk how long this Sammy's cafe is going to stick around but I wreckon not long. read more
