Been coming here for the past 4 years or so. I initially came here for teeth cleaning, I think it was around $55 out of pocket) and then I started coming here for more of my other teeth problems/dentist needs. More recently I've gotten a root canal w/ crown, removal of 3 wisdom teeth, and crown lengthen-tissue (which means the removal of excessive gum). My wisdom teeth removal was seamless.. they numbed my gums with a local anesthetic and extracted my tooth, pain free. Even the healing process was fast-- I was able to eat normally the next day. My root canal was a couple weeks process since they needed to prepare the crown to my fitting. The dentist was initially going to give me a temporary silver crown but I told her that it wouldn't look too appealing and she accommodated by giving me temporary white filling instead. The removal of the excess gum was a little more painful than my previous two procedures since the dentist had to stitch my gums. It was swollen and bleeding for a week or so but it did heal and I am satisfied with the procedure. The receptionist working the front desk speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and English so it's pretty easy to communicate with them. Prices are extremely reasonable especially with insurance. The technology may be a bit outdated but the job gets done and I have no complaints. Btw, this place is not very big about customer service.. they just get the job done even if they are being rude with you. read more

It's nothing compared to what I experienced. One of the dentist was trained in China and has no idea about the standard of practice in the US. He would destroy your good teeth without asking you. I came here for routine cleanings and dental work my whole childhood. In my early twenties, I asked the dentist what's the difference between the cavity filings - silver vs white. He told me "it's the same just the look is different." Well if that's really the case then I will chose the white fillings. I know the white ones cost more but not by a lot. 10 years later i realized that dentist didn't tell me all the info that silver fillings are more durable and longer lasting than the white ones. WHY WOULD YOU NOT TELL ME THAT? BECAUSE DENTIST ARE THERE TO MAKE MORE MONEY and that also means more frequent visit to the dentist to redo the filing when it goes bad. read more

I've been coming to Yung Sammy for years (since I was a child). My whole family has. Teeth Cleaning is $65 which I pay out of pocket. It's not fancy, but it's tailored to that type of community -- generally Chinese/Vietnamese speaking population. The receptionist doesn't give me a problem. I just call to make an appointment and talk about follow ups. I haven't had many dentists to compare to. But when I started working and moved to Los Angeles, I had to go to dentist that were within my DMO network. I had two before making the decision to go back to Yung Sammy. The places with the nicer equipment and fancy interiors charged more, and had a dental assistant clean my teeth with a dental pick set....which I felt isn't worth what I was paying for. I had another dentist who did everything himself, but often yelled at his staff...in front of me. I just like it here with Yung Sammy, and will go back --even tho it has it's quarks. read more

This place doesn't get enough credit! Yes. It's pretty ghetto, & they don't have anything updated really. Lol! But like the other reviews mentioned they get the job done, & they don't try to scam you out of your money at least that's what I gather from my own personal experience. Unlike other dental offices that are slightly more aestheticly pleasing, but they often times try to scam you into getting unneeded procedures, & also preformed them incorrectly. I recently had to get a root canal during Covid, & other than the needle numbing pain, & slight discomfort at times the pain was surprisingly little to none. So if you're on a tight budget or on Medical I recommend trying this place out. read more

I decided to share my worst experience here, so it won't happen to others: During that week, I suffered from my first but also WORST!!! wisdom tooth pain and the gum was very swollen and painful so that I couldn't eat or sleep well. I was looking for a dentist that close to my place, and Dr. Yung was recommended by my co-worker since they know each other as friends. Scheduled and went to this place on a Sat. afternoon. Took x-ray first, and they offered me two options: a smaller x-ray for $35 that only shows my symptom area, or a full mouth x-ray for $50 which shows all my 4 wisdom teeth and could save my money if I need to take out the other three wisdom teeth in future. Later, the clerk lady told me that for my situation I have to do the full mouth x-ray since my wisdom tooth is too deep the root is too long blahblah. I said no problem. And finally I got to have Dr. Yung take a look at my painful tooth and the x-ray. Dr. Yung was very nice and gentle, however, in my opinion not professional at all!!!! It just took 20 second for him to look at my tooth and followed with 5 minutes talking. He recommended me not to take out the wisdom tooth right now since it's too swollen to take out. He wrote me one week anti-inflammatory medicine and asked me to come back to see him after a week. I told him it's too painfull to me that it also caused headache, and I couldn't eat or sleep. He just told me he couldn't do it now. He told me the price would be $350 to take out this wisdom tooth, and bye~ Here comes the worst part: I went back to the front desk to pay, and asked for my x-ray since the pain made me couldn't wait for another week, and I decided to visit another dentist to take it out. Unethical, unprofessional. The front desk lady talked to me rudely, "You can't have it! Why would you need it?!! Just come back next week!!" I tried to explained to her that I would like to keep it as a reference since it's a full mouth x-ray, and I would bring it back if I come back next week. This time she really yelled at me that I don't own the x-ray, they keep the x-ray for me that's how it works, and if I need a copy I need to pay another $30, it was so loud that every patient waited there look at us. This is so redicliou!!! I told her that she may keep the x-ray since it doesn't belong to me at all, and I would walk out the office by paying her $25 visit fee only; or she needs to give me my x-ray and I would pay her the $75. Guess what, she gave me my x-ray right away!! I walked out the dentist office and very sure that I would never ever come back again. The next day I got my wisdom tooth taken out at another dentist office for only $150. If you looking for a dentist office to help you out and relief your tooth pain, this is not the right place for you. They just don't do business in a right way. They are all liars there with very poor customer service. read more

The service here varies depending on which dentist you end up with. The dentist I got (not Dr. Yung but a younger male) barely spoke a word to me. I got my root canal here and he just left as soon as the procedure was done. He didn't stick around to address my questions or concerns. Front desk staff is not the most friendly. I have been coming to this dentist since I was a child. I got my braces done here as well as all my dental work. They have always been amazing in translating information in both Vietnamese and Cantonese. Very friendly, caring, and kind staff who are dedicated to making your teeth perfect. Great place to get your braces done, they have the orthodontist appointments every other weekend so it may be hard to schedule. But the results are worth the costs. read more

Been my go to dentist for twenty years. Always packed and typically a 45 minute wait. Even though they have crappy yelp reviews this place is where the old school Asians get their teeth taken care of. I believe they accept ppo and medical. I'm having orthodontist work done for metal braces. Fair prices. The receptionist/medical biller knows what she's doing. She explained what my insurance will cover, and how much it covers. Many of these dentists are extremely rude and give you attitude. They also like to discriminate on certain people and treat you badly even if you didn't do anything. They have no social skills and just treat people like trash. They just feel like being jerks for no reason at all. read more

I went there because my friend was doing nails, and I don't want to waste my time. I called them and they don't need to make appointment which is wonderful. I spent $50 for one teeth cavity filling and I have my Amerita Dental Insurance. They are very efficient. Cleaning is free with insurance. read more

Amazing doctor he was so nice and explained everything completely so I understood before I left . This review is strictly for the male dentist who assisted me, not Dr. Yung. I've had my teeth cleaned by Dr. Yung about a decade ago and had no complaints. Unfortunately, I was unable to get an appointment with him so I asked the receptionist to recommend someone comparable. Huge mistake! So I was given someone by the name of Nguyen or Huynh (either first or last time, don't remember anymore). I was prepped by the dental assistant and thought she was nice. After a few minutes, the dentist came. Without breathing a word, he began to pry my mouth open. Mind you, I looked at my phone before the cleaning and again after. The whole process took 5 minutes. I sat up and rinsed. Before I could turn my head around, he was gone. I asked the dental assistant when the dentist was coming back, she said he wasn't. So I got up and looked for him because I had a few questions. He was already onto his next patient. Here goes: Grades: F: Dental cleaning by name of either Nguyen or Huynh (MALE) --- He did not discuss the results of my x-rays. Did not care to ask how my teeth feel before or after the cleaning, for potential issues, etc. etc. He just did not seem to care. Cleaning took a whopping FIVE minutes long. My regular cleaning with other doctors is between 30-60 minutes from the start of the cleaning. If you can't get your services from Dr. Yung, I recommend going elsewhere. I'm writing in regards to my friends experience with Dr. Bing Zhou. This was her first experience here. They told her that she needed a cavity filled and continued with the shot to numb the area. She then changed her mind feeling a little nervous and told them she had something to do. He then proceeded to talk to the nurse in Chinese who then translated to her in Vietnamese. She told The dentist you can talk to me in English. The dentist was so angry that she didn't want to continue with the filing, that he took it out on her mouth!! Her gums hurt so bad from how much pressure he put on her and he even soaked her! I recommended her to get an antibiotic in case of gum infection. This is so upsetting and she'll Never go back again!( But dang he was cute!) And Her overall experience was good. read more

I called to check if my Medicare Liberty HMO Freedom plan was in network. It was! The receptionist asked if I was free and nearby since the office wasn't too busy. She received my information via phone and was verifying my insurance as I walked in the office. As soon as I filled out the new patient paperwork, I was seated in the exam room. I came in for new dentures. Dr. Yung made it clear and honest that with the little bone density I had, it would be difficult to create a new pair that would fit and be easy to adjust to. He also wanted me to understand that if it didn't fit, Medicare would not pay for a new one until another 5 years rolls around. I appreciate knowing these details beforehand. I decided to take the risk. I told him I was having some pain on the lower portion of my mouth and he explained that it may be due to the dentures. The staff took some X-rays. I was notified that they would call me (or to call them if I received the letter in the mail) as soon as the insurance approved the authorization.
