I generally prefer Costco. Sam's does have the cheapest gas around, but you generally have to wait in line to get it, and twice when I've been there recently the pumps were all closed. I hope our local Costco gets gas soon (they're trying to, if the government will let them). Sam's has their wonderful scan and go, so you don't have to wait in a checkout line. The crowds and wait to checkout are perhaps the greatest weakness of Costco. Sam's also has curbside pickup, which Costco doesn't. Unlike Walmart, Sam's app doesn't show you what aisle something is an, and whether it's in stock (Costco doesn't either). The only food I've had at Sam's was the pizza. It was decent, but too bready. We prefer Costco's, and Costco's larger pizza costs less per area. It's always quick eating at Costco's cafe, but at Sam's there was a line. I ordered a slice of pizza in the app and went to the pickup area. I noticed the app said they were preparing it, so I went to sit. But they got slices for people in the line, but not me, so I finally went up to the pickup counter and eventually someone took notice of me and got my order. So Costco wins hands down for speed and ease of cafe orders. I just like Costco more. It's definitely more upscale. I think the lighting is better: I just find Sam's a bit depressing. Sam's is undoubtedly cheaper on the whole. Costco has a better reputation for the quality of things like their bakery and meats. I'm not sure if I'll continue my Sam's membership. read more

Holiday shopping for gifts and they have many selections of candies and chocolates such as Ghirardelli's and Ferrero Rocher at the front of the store and some are on sale at a good price I think. There is also a Gas Station at $2.70 per gallon for the 87 Unleaded Gasoline for members and that is cheaper than Gate or a Shell station. read more

This used to be my favorite Sam's Club, for selection and cleanliness. Unfortunately, the last two times I visited, a few refrigerated cases have been warm. I spoke to a store associate on my first visit but the same problem was still there this most recent visit. As a result, I did not purchase many items as I planned because the temperature was 60 degrees. These cases hold perishable items and can make you sick if not stored properly. HORRIBLE! i was driving home from a long trip and my tire blew on the highway next to this Sam's , i pulled in and asked if they could help. super rude and dismissive. i needed 2 new tires so clearly im willing to help them make their sale or whatever it is they need and they still were rude. they tried taking off my tires, stripped my lug nuts, then blamed me for it. they had 2 packs left but said they didn't want to "waste them" on my car. told me to go find new ones without my car, so i had to WALK 2 miles to an autozone. when i come back i hand them over and apparently i was missing one lug nut (i don't know anything about car parts so some guidance on what exactly i need and how many i need given the situation would've been really nice) and then they got really mad at me that they had to use one of their own packs because i refused to walk back to autozone again. oh and it gets worse. after they fix my tire i started driving again and my light came back on. the tire is supposed to be set to around 25-30 psi and they had it set at 50 psi. so i had to deflate both tires before i could drive again. they also didn't give me my tire air cap back either so i had to go buy a new pack from the store. and get this! i just took my car to get an oil change at another place and they said this sams stripped all my lug nuts and i have to get new ones. the ones i JUST bought! how great! the entire staff should be fired and shut down completely. what an absolute joke. they can't even do one single little thing right. don't even waste your time coming here they're a lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

The savings on gas are worth the membership alone! I mostly fill up during the week because there are literally almost no wait times compared to the weekend. Never had any issues at the pump with scanning the QR code at the pump. But if you need assistance the guy at the pumps is the sweetest and most helpful one for sure! He's always smiling and having a little small talk with the customers. Pro tip: if you indeed have to wait, order a pizza slice or a hot dog from the cafe and pay in the app. You just have to go to the counter and pick it up - no need to wait in line at the register to order!! I ordered a carpet cleaner from this store. It does not work the handle comes out when that happens the sprayer for the water doesn't work. I've been calling for 2 days. Finally someone answered. This is the worst Sam's Club location I've ever been to across the country. The staff is terrible here. NONE of them seem to want to work. The customer service department chooses to make up their own return policies here and doesn't follow the ones that are posted online by corporate. If you need to make a return, just go to the other one in Orange Park. The cart area up front is always a mess. The cart return staff are extremely rude and expect you to do their job for them. I was yelled at by one of them because I didn't use the cart that had pieces of garbage and a box in it and chose to use the cart behind it. (This would never happen at Costco or BJs!) The actual store itself always has random pallets of products in the aisles like an obstacle course. There are many other Sam's Club locations I've been to and they're much nicer than this one. ADDITIONALLY, there are a couple of other options of warehouse stores nearby that have better customer service and nicer staff. I'll continue to go to this location for the gas and the carrot juice but the Costco at the town center has everything else I need without having to deal with all the bad attitudes. read more

I go to Sam's Club on a regular basis. I feel like as an adult, it's become a regular activity for me and something I look forward to on a weekend. I do find that the prices are comparable to any other membership club. However, I go to get my usual basics that I find are cheaper than some of the local grocery stores. I also love that they do plenty of sampling options throughout the store at various times of the day. This location is usually kept pretty clean. Also my kids and I enjoy the food court. Everything is very affordable. The lines are not very long, but I do use the "scan and go" feature so I'm usually in and out. Staff are also very friendly and non bothersome. read more

Been a member for 30+ years and a Plus member for 28 or so. I sure do miss the days when Plus members got early access to the store, 3 hours before everyone else could get in. That used to mean we could get into the store at 7 am...then they moved it to 8 am...now it's 9 am, so we only get an hour. And we're paying more for our membership and you're cutting our shopping time for those that need a less-crowded store. Some of us can't do marathon sprints around the store and get all our shopping and browsing done that fast before the hoards come in. BTW I don't know if your video tapes show you how rude some of the male customers are to female customers - they'll almost run you over or zip around the corner and almost collide, seemingly without taking any notice of you or even offering an apology. This place doesn't seem female or senior or handicapped friendly, I'm sad to say. You're losing this demographic. read more

Sam's Club is the wholesale club to buy in bulk that is owned by Walmart. It has, like most of these wholesale clubs, some good deals and some not so good deals. You just need to be aware of what various places charge and know what regularly goes on sales at other supermarkets, especially what goes on BOGO (buy one, get one free). Like most other wholesale clubs, this particular Sam's Club is large and has a lot more to offer than just food. Service was good and I had no real complaints with my visit here. No reason why I go to customer service on 01-04-26 around 6pm and ask for a Sam's club card (new member), I gave the male associate that looked like he rather be home my ID to look up my info. He had me go through my phone and request to use my membership card in which it should be in the system. I followed his steps but my phone was moving slow. So I guess my info pulled up in the system because he stated he could not find my account at first but 2 mins later he found it after he noticed my phone was no help, you all need better associates that actually want to work and help paying customers. I don't usually leave reviews but it had to be said. if I go back and he is there with the same non working Im going to notify management and leave another review until this associate is retrained on how to work with the public. I'm down the middle when it comes to Sam's. It's basically the closest to our home. I can only say I've had one bad run in with an employee a few times. It was over self checkout. I'm not moving less than ten items into a new buggy. She didn't even wipe it down the new buggy to put my stuff into. I had everything laid out with barcodes facing up so I took up no time to check out. This would give them 3 stars. I give them 4 stars for their optical team. Very nice and present. I've been a member of Sam's Club since probably 1990, when the Sam's was off Emerson in what is now an ice skating rink. There are some items I can always count on getting at Sam's. Then sometimes, they stop carrying those items! Ugh. Most recently, Dasani water. On the other hand, I enjoy the "limited time" items-they are like nice little surprises! I enjoy trying new products. But it's a double edged sword lol because those items don't stick around long! I have noticed that Sam's has been particularly busy lately, especially on the weekends. But then, the weekends there have always been pretty crazy. When we arrived at Sam's today, around 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon, there were no shopping carts to be found. That's how busy they were. I have noticed a change in the overall level of customer service at this location in the past year or so-for the better. There always seem to be 3, sometimes 4 employees behind the customer service desk. Whereas before, it was one or 2. And long waits. So today I had to make a couple of returns. The only things I've ever returned are clothing items. Since there are no fitting rooms, you sometimes don't know if your item will fit until you get home and try it on. But today was different. Sam's sells beef Chuck roast in packs of 2. I've been buying these at Sam's for years and never had an issue with the quality. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a pack of 2 roasts, along with a package of baby carrots to cook along with the roast. The following day (still several days away from the expiration date) I opened the roasts with the intention of cooking one in the crockpot and putting one in the freezer. The first roast looked great. The 2nd however, was partially brown on one side and had a bad odor. I immediately took photos and then disposed of the foul roast. I cooked the good roast along with some carrots. The next day, I get an email from Sam's saying the carrots were under recall for listeria! I wanted a refund for the bad roast, for the carrots, and for the good roast, since I had cooked it with the recalled carrots. I could not make it back to Sam's until today. Between working full time and going back & forth to radiation for my breast cancer every day (a 45 minute drive each way), I didn't have time to go until today. I explained the situation, along with photos, to the very helpful customer service rep. She automatically refunded the carrots, but said she'd have to ask her manager about the roast. She returned shortly saying the manager denied my request since I didnt have the actual product with me. The rep also said she would get the manager if I wanted to talk to her myself. I said yes. About 5 minutes later, a female walked up to the customer service counter and gave me an exasperated look while rolling her eyes. She said nothing. Just looked at me. Very strange. Turns out this was the manager! I explained the rotting roast situation to her, showing her the photos. She said she couldn't refund it because I didnt have the product with me. I asked her if I was supposed to keep spoiled meat in my fridge until I could return it to Sam's. She then stated that if I had come back in 2 maybe 3 days after my discovery, a refund could have been issued. What?! Because I couldn't get to the store within some time arbitrary time frame that she pulled out of her hat, I'm being denied? I never raised my voice to this woman. I was not angry. I just found the situation incredulous. Again I started to explain that today was my first opportunity to return to Sams... then the manager cut me off, flung the receipt across the counter...yelled at the nice customer service rep to "just give it to her!" and stomped off. This was quite possibly the most rude behavior I've ever encountered in a store, period. I was taken aback and pretty much speechless at that point. Maybe I shouldn't let this one negative experience affect my feelings so much, but come on! This was just wrong. I hope your Sam's Club experiences are better than mine was today! read more

I have been a member of Sam's Club for nearly 20 years. From college in West Virginia, to my move to Maryland in the mid 90's and now Florida. I am single with no children so I do not frequent Sam's as much as the average family. I may visit once a month or every other month. I buy things like toilet paper, paper towels, Pepsi, over the counter medication and occasionally cloths. I also use Sam's Club if I am having a party to buy food and drinks. On this particular visit I was shopping for a pie to take to my friends house for Christmas dinner. I always buy the apple pie for the holidays, however they did not have any left so I bought their berry pie. The pie had five or six different berries sectioned off so you could choose the flavor you wanted. I was a little worried since I had never tried this pie before but OMG it was delicious. My friend that was hosting the dinner text me later to tell me that she was obsessed with this pie and could not stop eating it LOL. I will definitely buy this pie again. I get up early on Saturday 2-25-23 to have my daughter's tire repaired at Sam's. The website says the tire shop opens at 7am. So I get there at 7:05 only to find out they open at 8am. No problem, I can wait for about 40 minutes to get in because I am a"Plus" member. When they finally open up at 8:03am I go to the tire shop only to be told that they don't open until 10am until further notice. I pay $100 a year for plus membership, to get in early only to be treated like a regular member. I can't understand the logic behind this. I feel that I need to be reimbursed for the aggravation this has caused me.... sam's club needs to work on their communication with their members and with their website. RON. N. read more

Go here early in the AM to get lucky with finding Member Mark disinfectant wipes. They are pretty stocked up on TP and Kitchen paper towels too. I would not recommend buying bakery products like Bagels or Croissant roles in bulk from here as they got bad within a few days. I expected mine to atleast last me a week, but they did not! Great place to do bulk shopping. Found some good wines at a great price. This Pirate Wine I found turned out to be really good. I also picked up sweet green grapes, A humongous bag Doritos for $4. Please keep all your receipts even if you purchase a hot dog.( the hot dogs and pizza is good here.) They will check receipts at the door. Lots to see and purchase. I've been a Sam's customer for over thirty years and while sometimes they don't always have what you came to find they are a warehouse full of bargains although I have started to notice Aldi are giving them a run for their money. The packaged fresh chicken is at least 5 to 8 dollars more expensive in Sam's which to me is a shock. As I always bought the large five or six breasts of chicken packaged there. Perrier water has increased in price too. Sometimes they sell it at a special price of five or six dollars less. I don't know why they can't sell it at that price all the time. I know it's a promotion but come on. it's expensive enough. The north side location does not sell White button mushrooms anymore, for reasons best known to themselves. At the station, the gas is also more expensive as is members mark butter and several other things. I don't think there's a proper reason for the same company to sell at such a disparity in price on different sides of the city, but what do I know. I also do not know why there are lines and I mean rather long lines for gas Every day. But I still will shop at Sam's. The roast chicken, which comes out of the ovens At least every hour is delicious, but in the past few weeks, the chicken seem to have gotten smaller. However, go to Sam's by 10 or 12 things and don't ever expect to get out without spending $100! The staff also do with a talking to as they seem to be unhappy. My advice is be happy, you have a job be glad of it. If you don't like it, find a job you do. Thank you for your service. read more

I am rating the SAM's gas station 5 Star because I haven't been inside the store in a while. I mainly show up for their competitive gas prices. Unlike BJs' gas station, I am able to pump gas and sit in my truck because the handle has a hands free lock on it. BJ's you have to stand there and hold it the entire time you are pumping gas! That's not good especially if you are on "E" and it's cold or raining or windy outside or just plain hot!! SAM's gas prices are also cheaper than BJs and there's plenty of stalls so you don't have to wait long for a pump, if you have to wait at all. read more

I've been a Sam's Club "plus" MasterCard member for over two years now in two different states. I joined in Maine before relocating down to Florida. Let me start this review by saying overall I'm very satisfied with my membership services. However, I've had issues in both states since joining. My most recent incident occurred at the beach blvd. location when I came in for my tire rotation (which is free when you purchase a set of tires from them). My F150 rims have a lock nut on each rim to prevent theft. The service tech never placed the key back into my service manual where it was originally located prior to service. I didn't notice it was missing until I was replacing my brakes & rotors and needed to remove my tires three weeks later. Needless to say after retracing my steps I went back to Sam's club and spoke to management. They did make things right by paying my repair bill to have the bolts manually stripped from my truck. Then they payed for the replacement of my security bolts directly from Ford. Anyone can make mistakes, I don't hold a grudge. Sam's club has indeed ALWAYS gone the extra mile to make sure they do rectify the mistake made which gives me some reassurance for continuing my membership with the club. read more

We love to send items to our family back home in the Philippines and this is a great spot to purchase items in bulk. Customer service is adequate. I tried to order two items to be sent to my home. They were out of stock of one of the items so they arranged (without me knowing) for that item to be picked up from the store and deliver the other. But I cant pick up the store item. It then took me several days and more than 5 phone calls to get both items canceled do to their weird processes and miscommunication. Unfortunently now I need to work through getting my sams cash back that was used to purchase most of the cost for the items. Its over $100.00 but I am so upset considering just letting them keep it and loose a life long customer since the 80's What a hassle and even the supperviser was a rememarkably experienced... she had a talent of speaking over me word for word on purpose perfectly. Ive never been so displeased and motivated to cancel my membership even my credit card will get canceled. Life is way too short for such unplesentries. They take care of all of our needs. No complaints here. Every Department is very helpful. They do move regular items around from time to time, so you have to look for them. You can sample different food and drinks so you can decide on weather you want the item. Saturdays are very crowded. So, be prepared to wait. They have Cashiers and self check out also. I do both. Almost every time I go there, I take a moment and stop at the Food diner and get a hot dog combo or a pizza combo and sit down and eat. You can bring your Earth friendly bags to pack your groceries, or use the spare boxes that you see throughout the store. The yearly membership is reasonable. Have your card to show the lady coming in, to prove you are a member. On the way out, you have to show the Lady your receipt. read more

I love Sam's Club for paper products, meats and their cafe. I tried a competitor last year because it was closer to where I live- but I came back to Sam's. I may only buy TP, Paper Towels & Paper Plates- but that alone is worth it to me. And you can't roll through there without grabbing one of their combo's- pizza and a drink, hot dog and a drink, soft pretzel!!! Super great value and quickie bite.
