Sam's is a great neighborhood dive bar. Karaoke and trivia happen on the regular. This was our go to trivia spot for a while. But be warned, these teams play to win and the trivia is HARD! For example, the first 4 most populous countries are blah blah blah blah, name 5th, 6th, & 7th. Trivia is on Thursdays at 8pm, $3 per person to play and cash prizes go to 1st, 2nd, & 3rd. No more than 6 people per team. Lots of fun! Food and drinks are decently priced and popcorn is free! It can get pretty loud, but it's a bar so.. that's kind of to be expected. read more

Gosh, where do I start with Sam's? I love this bar. It's such a wonderful little neighborhood bar that everyone needs to visit. The outside seating is ideal and their inside will never bore you! I was curious of this pub while driving past for the last year. So one day I decided to make a stop after work was satisfied with the experience I had. The bartenders are nice with Tom and Brian being my favorites. With a pitcher of American beer and a stromboli you end up spending around $20. The supreme pizza is delicious being thick and tasty. college college college Anyone looking to replicate their favorite bar on campus experience should be advised to run not walk to this place. Free popcorn, miniscule bathroom, walls covered in all the stuff grandpa was saving in the shed and cheap basic food takes me back. Went for lunch and we were the only patrons there but I did see a lot of carry out. Some local craft beers in bottles and wide selection of corporate beers on tap, quite inexpensive. We got the 7" pizza, which was a premade crust with 2 topping for $6.95, lots of cheese saved that one, and the Stromboli, which did not have meatballs as expected but instead ground sausage, which actually made it easier to eat. All were served in little cute pizza boxes. This is clearly the ultimate late night bar and I'm pretty sure you can get food until they turn off the lights at 3 AM totally perfect for hungry drunks. read more

Great neighborhood bar, and the vibe is awesome. It can take you a few visits to sit and look at all of the tickets, stickers, signs, etc. plastered all over the place. Our bartender Kevin was a really nice guy, so service is a plus. He mixes a good drink, and they have a nice selection of craft beer on tap. We had the pizza, and we liked it. Thin, crispy crust, generous cheese, and a soft, mild sauce. I think it just depends on what style of pizza you like in general. They have karaoke on Wednesday nights. I've lived 2 blocks away from the place for 4 years. I always avoided it because I already had my spots prior to moving here. I made my way in with some friends a few weeks ago and it was exactly what I expected. We had a few rounds of beer and a pizza. The pizza was way better than expected. The service was interesting.. The record stopped when we walked in and were treated fairly hostilely.. Once they realized we were from the neighborhood and weren't dumb college kids dive bar hunting they warmed up.. Heck yea, Sam's! Love this place; tis surely among my most frequented bars in the city. Cheap drinks, cool people, big patio. What more could a lady ask for? It's tucked away from the main rush & buzz of Fountain Square, but definitely still delivers all the hipster vibes you'd expect from that area. Walls and tables with random signs or stickers plastered all over. Sometimes it smells like pizza. Although I've never eaten here, I'm sure those bosco sticks would hit the spot after a few drinks. A friend once told me she felt "underdressed" ... which is the craziest thing I ever did hear. You could go to Sam's in your pajamas and nobody would give a Frick! Bartenders would still be chill and everyone around you would still be willing to lend a cigarette or buy you a beer. Wednesday nights (karaoke, anyone?!) can get a bit crowded, but otherwise it's usually not too bad. This bar is notorious for irresponsibility allowing individuals to launch commercial grade fireworks from its parking lot well after hours of legal activity night after night. The building is situated directly in a residential area with homes on three sides of it. Even if the owner provides these persons permission (required by law) to operate fireworks on its property, 11pm is the cutoff on non holidays. Tonight it was happening at 1am. The bar consistently ignores the neighborhood's pleas to not allow illegal activity night after night. read more

Trivia night first brought us to Sam's Silver Circle. First, trivia night is A BIG DEAL! Thursday nights, 8 p.m., but you better get there early to get a table. We typically order a pizza for our table, which is on par with Pizza King-style pizza. The bar has a good variety of craft beers on tap and many more in bottles. Probably my favorite part of going to Sam's is all of the memorabilia that covers almost every surface. There are tons of sports relics from multiple decades. My favorite is a letter from Jack Doyle thanking his scholarship provider so that he could attend Cathedral HS (and now is an Indianapolis Colts tight end!). Everywhere you sit you see something new. Sam's would be a great place to watch a game with its neighborhood feel, good beer and topping-loaded pizza! read more

This is one of the best bars in Indy. It's got the old timey neighborhood connection just east of the hipster BS places of Fountain Square. This is family owned and probably hasn't changed much in its 80 year history. Although they just have one king-sized Easy Bake Oven (one pizza at a time), their pizza is some of the best I've ever had. It only took about 15 minutes for our AWESOME pizza. They have karaoke on Wednesdays and trivia on Thursdays. Trivia last night was fun. The staff here are very friendly and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. read more

This place is a perfect dive bar with awesome sports graffiti decor. We see something new on the wall every time we go. There is a nice covered patio area and off street parking. The bartender who is typically there on Friday evenings does an excellent job making sure your glass stays full. The bar also has excellent pizza. Their pizza,breadstick, and pitcher of beer deal can't be beat! The only (very minor) downside is that the inside is a little small, so you might have to wait for or share a table if it's busy. read more

I came here the other day for a fun little day of drinks out in the Fletcher Place/Fountain Square area and we were suggested to come here by a friend. This place is really just a little diamond in a rhinestone world. We went around 4:30 on Saturday, so it wasn't too busy obviously. The bartender was a nice guy and the drinks were pretty solid and affordable. They had a PBR + Shot deal going on for $5, so I would've been completely stupid to not get up on that deal. What I really like is the look of the place. I love that their walls are collaged in old license plates and street signs. It has a nice little cozy ambience on the inside. However, on the outside there's a real nice little back smoking patio where they have a TV set out, something that seems like a little outdoor bar and the windows are adjusted with a remote. This is a great place for a chilled little outing to get a few cocktails before you head on to your next destination. I also kept smelling it, so next time I might get it, but I want to try out that pizza. It smelled way too good to not have any of it. read more

My friends and I love Sam's. It's never too crowded, the service is average to above average and there's a good beer selection. Plus they do pitchers, which is one of the main reasons we go there, besides the fact that they usually put on whatever sports game we ask for, usually with sound, which we can't get a lot of places (as Ohio natives we often want non-Indiana sports games andu they're obligatory so long as we aren't outnumbered). Sam's pizza is very average, no complaints, and there's free popcorn. This is a great place to just hang out and have a few beers. Also a bonus--they have a porch out back AND out front. This place is fun! Thursday night trivia was crazy hard but such a good time! They have good beer at good prices in a unique environment. Super divey if you're into that. Interesting variety of people to socialize with and makes everyone feel welcome. The food selection is your classic bar fare. Nothing spectacular but you can at least get something decent to eat. I had stuffed breadsticks as a meal and it was plenty. Also sampled a friends "Cathy Special" which is their most staple menu item. It's a philly cheese steak sandwich with bacon and ranch. It was good! I'd say most would like it, but I have a strong dislike for ranch and bacon so it's not something I'd crave. But if you're looking for a chill spot to enjoy a cold one and socialize with some neighbors then it's calling your name. read more

On the corner near my new house is a little pub and sports bar called Silver Circle Bar and Sam's Pizza. A friend and I walked in to forage for food my first night in the house since I'd yet to buy groceries. That and unpacking put cold beer on the agenda! First thing you notice when you walk in are the 5 dart board machines. They have dart tournaments as well as a few big screen TVs to watch games. The place is completely covered with bar memorabilia, Sports Illustrated covers, local basketball and football team photos and you could spend hours in there counting the car license plates that also cover these kooky, old walls. Kathy was working the bar and making the pies that night. Rose was having a beer and proceeded to tell us that she had retired from working at Sam's after 20 years. While the barkeep was busy making our pizza, Rose spun tales about snow storms she had weathered to get the place open for the locals that worked nights and wanted a drink in the morning. She made the evening news at one point when the local media covered the storms. That was a pretty big deal to Rose! My friend and I shot a few rounds of darts before the pizza arrived. It was fresh, hot and covered in a mixture of herbs that might have been a bit too much for any palette. Two of the toppings were missing from the order but the pizza was really good despite not getting what exactly what we were after. Sam's serves bottled beer and offers carry-out at really reasonable prices. My friend and I had two beers each while we were there, the large pizza and a six pack to take back to the house after and got out of there for $30! Hearing local stories was actually enough to make me want to go back to this charming little hole-in-the-wall. I'm thinking it might be a good place to cheer on the Colts with my neighbors! Visited the Silver Circle last weekend for the first time. Talk about getting a bang for your buck. The beer is cheap, and nearly everyone was friendly :) Service was alright, but you can't expect the world when you show up late and are the only ones on the patio. The owner, Scott, and his father, Buck, were extremely personable and sat down with us for a couple drinks. I must say, I love that kind of friendly atmosphere. We split the stuffed breadsticks and a small sausage pizza between three of us. The breadsticks were to die for. The pizza was meh and loaded mostly with cheese. All in all, it was a fun stop. What you have here is a nice neighborhood dive. Although the decor is like car crashed into a street sign factory, the seating is scarce (there just aren't many seats) and the lighting is obnoxious; it's actually a cool little bar in former residence type building. The beer selection was surprisingly good, prices were low, the beer garden was a hidden surprise, the bartender was solid, and the pizza was way, way cheap. The wife and I stopped in here on a Saturday night as a friend was playing live music. The entrance was in the back through the small attached parking lot. The inside reminded me of an old sports bar with old license plates and magazines all over the walls. It was very bright inside which I thought improved the atmosphere. There were a few tables against the wall opposite the bar and around 6 or 7 stools at the bar. I saw earlier reviews mention minimal tables and a lot of dart boards. When we stopped in there was only one dart board and tables all along the walls. I don't know if they brought out the tables just because they had live music that night or if that is how it is now. The bar was fully stocked with about 10 or so taps ranging from PBR to craft beers. They were running a special that night where craft beers were only $3.75. Sign me up! I did not partake in any of the pizza as we had just come from dinner elsewhere, but a lot of people ordered it and it smelled delicious. They had plenty of seating in outdoor covered area where everyone mingled after the show was over. It is your typical dive bar feel and the mix of people the night we were there was crazy. The bar had a very cool vibe. One last note: I can't get over how nice the ladies working there were! They were truly awesome and provided great service. I am going to have to stop in and try the pizza the next time we are in the area. read more
