Not only that, he knew there was construction around the shop and made sure I knew exactly how to find it. That alone told me he actually cares about people, not just getting them in and out. The smog check was DMV certified, fast, and efficient--but not one of those places where they're rushing you out the door like they're late for dinner. He took his time, did the job right, answered my questions, and made me feel comfortable. He has one of those personalities that just feels like you've known him forever. Now listen... if you're on Holt, SLOW DOWN because you'll drive right past it. It's between Campus and Grove, and it's easy to miss if you're flying down the street like you're in the Indy 500. The shop isn't fancy, and it could use a little cleaning and organizing, but don't let appearances fool you. I'd rather have an honest mechanic than a pretty waiting room any day. I haven't used him for repairs yet, but he also does oil changes, brakes, and other mechanical work. Based on how he treated me over a simple smog check, I have a feeling I may have just found the mechanic everyone hopes to have in their back pocket. Good, honest people are hard to come by these days. This is the kind of small business I'd rather support over the big chains. I'll definitely be back. Let not forget the price was right. $56 something. Oh and some brownie points for thinking my old ass was young and my 15 year-old daughter was mine friend (yeah RIGHT!) P.S. However, there was a small difference, not sure if it's after tax or not. Online there's a coupon for $35, but in person they charged $40 for the coupon. I don't know if there's a fee that was missed or if they just never updated the price for the online coupon, but it's only a $5 difference, so nothing I'd make too big a deal over. The whole process took about 30-45 minutes. Be aware, there's no place to sit or shade while you wait, so plan accordingly. Since there was another customer in front of me, I had to wait for them to finish first and was hiding behind a truck's shade. Once it got to my turn, it was pretty quick. They also do take card.

Needing to remedy this quickly, I took to Yelp and found Mena Smog Check. Love that it's located so close to my home, as in the past I've driven further than necessary. I arrived about 5 minutes prior to opening and was the first one there. He opened up early and took me in right away. I didn't have to get out of the truck at all. He explained everything to me and told me how long it would take. Everything passed and I was out of there in about 20 minutes total. He was also kind enough to give me a printed copy to keep with the truck so in case the sticker doesn't get here in time, we can show that everything is taken care of in the meantime. The nicest guy!
