Shrimp PoBoy with one piece of lettuce and a shrimp
    Katy R.

HORRIBLE!!!!! Sam's needs to close this location permanently. I've visited the locations in both Shreveport and Alexandria which are both very good, clean and wonderful service. This location smells like cigarettes with the casino attached. It took us 45 minutes to get a poboy and a shrimp plate to go. They ran out of shrimp and gave us a fish fillet instead which we didn't want..Literally gave us 10 French fries as a side. The portions and quality of food were not representative of the other Sam's that I've visited AT ALL nor the price. Also..I'm pretty sure the girl working the counter was 10 years old...

    WINGS AND MAC AND CHEESE

Food was absolutely fantastic. The wings were great lathered with sauce yummy. The macaroni and cheese was a little bit salty but it was still very good. The meat pies were nicely fried. cashier was slightly weird was very nice.

Passing by, super hungry and not in a mood to cook on Sunday for lunch we ended up going to this place. It is literally between the casino and the gas station, super simple and it seems like a place where most of their orders are to go. The place is nothing fancy, nothing nice, only tables and one person as a cashier and taking the phone orders. I guess this is a good place for those who like fried food and/or are driving through Port Allen in a road trip, not much money on them and stop to charge gas right there... Veggies were taking out of a can, no seasoning at all. Fried okra and fish were ok. Nothing impressive but it wasn't super bad. They take orders and It seems like there's a lot of people calling, (probably more than the customers that walk in). Though the cashier was running taking phone orders she was nice and gave an ok service. If you are in a hurry, you like fried food, don't care much about the "quality" of food or maybe after a hangover you feel the need of eating fried food, or maybe after a while in the casino next door, you only want inexpensive food this is your place!

Menu as of summer 2018. Great value.

They have been featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive In's, and Dives" and have the pictures with Guy Fieri prominently displayed to prove it. The interior is eclectic, which is comforting. While BBQ is the main emphasis here, there are a number of other things on the menu. One of these that's really popular is the seafood stuffed potatoes. These are gigantic baked potatoes that come with shrimp or catfish, with our without crawfish étouffée. Seafood is a definite option here, and one can have it on Friday or any other day. But let's discuss the BBQ. They have smoked turkey that's never dry, and this is great in a sandwich or plate. The smoked wings are another favorite of mine. Then there is the smoked meatloaf, which is great in po-boy form. The ribs and brisket are also very worthy options. I think a two meat plate is a good way to enjoy the BBQ as it allows variety in tasting! Then one has to be pleased by the wide selection of sides. Variety is always great, especially when it includes uncommonly great options like fried green beans, red beans and rice, and Cajun Dirty Rice. One can always get coleslaw and beans if you are a fan of the classics. They even have desserts, if one has any room left for them. I rarely do...

We took our mom here for her birthday in early June. The service was okay at this restaurant. There was nothing that stood out in particular about the service, it was pretty average. The food at this restaurant all tasted great. I tried their fried green tomatoes appetizer as well as their golden fried alligator which was delicious. I got the jerk fried chicken with red beans and rice and smoked sausage for my entree and it was good. I was expecting my chicken to be spicy or to at least taste like jerk seasoning but it didn't at all. It was more like a BBQ sauce with no heat at all. The menu was also very lacking to me, we all felt that it was missing items or needed more. I wish there was more of a variety of items to choose from especially for those allergic to shellfish or vegetarian.

Fair warning you'll probably need a nap afterward. The restaurant has a sharp, modern aesthetic and is consistently spotless. The Service: This is one of the few places where the service is truly flawless. The staff is prompt, accommodating, and friendly every single time. My only small knocks on the place is Parking and music. Be prepared to pay for a spot and walk a couple of blocks. Occasionally, the music is a bit too high, which can make having a conversation a little hard. Overall the best lunch stop for downtown.

Parking is difficult, but that's typical of downtown BR. I parked in the parking garage not far from the restaurant, and it was fine. We sat at the bar because the restaurant was a tad crowded for a Thursday night. There were plenty of open seats at the bar and tons of TVs to watch. The bartender was great and service was good. We came in December, so it was tastefully decorated for the holidays. I got the chicken Caesar wrap and my friend got the shrimp po boy. The wrap was so good and the fries were delicious! The po boy was a huge serving and came with a bunch of shrimp on it. A good place to consider!
