I've eaten here twice now, and I expect my rating will go up with time. Right now, Samurai Noodle is doing a soft open to "work out the kinks," and there are a few kinks to work out. In short, the food is pretty good. The service is okay. The atmosphere is poor. Food: Between myself and my friends we have tried the super shoyu tonkatsu, the spicy super, the spicy miso shoyu, and the standard shoyu. The broth and noodles of each were spot on. The spicy broth is quite mild, so if you like it hot, you'll need to make use of the sriracha and chili flakes on the tables. The onsen eggs are perfectly soft cooked, and the chasu is nice and fatty with a great roast pork flavor. The veggies are okay with the exception of the side of sautéed baby bok choy, which was perfectly bitter and not over cooked. The gyoza were better than average for a fast Japanese place, but they didn't have enough dipping sauce. The karaage is yummy if you like dark chicken meat and ginger. Unfortunately, they have no alcohol or tea at present, and only offer canned Coke products. A fountain would be nice at this price point. Service: The servers are still learning the ropes, and I had to explain (and translate) what I was ordering. The owner seems genuinely interested in feedback. Atmosphere: The place is in a strip mall, and the tables and chairs are all bolted to the floor, so if you're a bigger person like me, be prepared to squish into a seat that is too small for you. It was a little embarrassing, and there were no other seating options--not even a chair I could pull up to the end of the table. The dining area is very bare bones. It looks like an old Blimpies or something. I assume this might get better by the grand opening. My final comment is about price. Two bowls of ramen with an appetizer and tip cost us nearly $40, which seems steep for noodles and broth. However, the ramen was authentic, and since there isn't any other place close by with the real stuff, I'll be coming back. read more

Meh... Karaage; crispy but too salty Spam Musibi; meh.... too pricey for what it is. Nori seaweed wrap tasted gross :-/ Tonkotsu Ramen; I asked them not to overlook the noodle but they didn't listen... the broth tasted ok though but just warm not hot enough :( their Tamago was cooked perfectly however tasted way too salty :( I couldn't even find Chashu lol the portion was a joke but flavored well. My friends had Tampopo; the broth was sooo good! Not too fishy! But.... over cooked noodle :( Hmmm I will try one more time but I was super dissatisfied with my first experience. read more

Customer Service is top notch!! Tonight we came in for our favorite ramen. We watched the table next to us leave and told dinner was on the house. We assumed the wait was long for them as the restaurant was pretty full when we arrived. After eating we went to order noodles to go. We were told they were sorry our noodles were cold and our meal was on the house. Our noodles weren't pipping hot but we thought they were fine. We than informed them that we would like to tip them but didn't have cash. They told us it wasn't necessary, they just wanted us to leave happy. We were fans before but tonight made us fans for life. We have been asked on previous visits for feedback to help them better their business. Tonight showed us that their customer service is very important to them. First the food was great, I'll go back though because of the staff. We had a slight mix up with a door dasher walking away with some of our order by mistake. Taylor didn't hesitate to offer to remake our original order correcting everything without having to request that. I think she even may have gone and made prepared the order on top of it. Seems like a small thing but stuff like this always sticks out to me and is more rare than it used to be. YASSSS! This is a semi-new spot for Ramen on the south side that offers fresh noodles made in-house. What I appreciated most was that the owner came to our table and attentively listened to our dietary concerns- he was very friendly and offered the perfect suggestions. I ended up ordering the spicy miso with chicken broth....they provided the right about of noodles and toppings. Plus- they have authentic green teas from the motherland..good for 3 full steepings! They make their own noodles, which is better than most places who use Sun noodles (not saying Sun noodles are bad, just a +1 plug for home-made). Great ramen in Draper! I love that they make their own noodles and everything tasted great. I recently became vegetarian and have struggled finding ramen that has as much flavor as meat-based ramens. The vegan ramen was SO good! It was packed full of flavor. My only complaint was it was cold and I had to wear my coat, but the ramen warmed me up quick. We will be back! read more

I sent in a takeout order online today to try this place for the very first time. I got there 20 minutes later - right when the order was estimated to be ready, only to find out that nobody had checked the online orders and it hadn't been started at all! I was in a serious pinch for time since I had to teach a half hour later! I was pretty frustrated and asked for a refund, but the men at the counter assured me it would be ready in 5 minutes. Reluctantly, I waited. About 10 minutes later, it was ready. I didn't get to eat much before I taught my class, just a couple takoyaki bites and a taste of the ramen, which was not ideal for me being out those extra 10-15 minutes. The reheated food was pretty good. I had the spicy tonkotsu ramen and takoyaki. My friend had the karaage chicken and she said the chicken was juicy and tasty but was not a fan of the sauce accompanying it. The ramen was good - noodles tasted fresh and, although it comes with only two pieces of pork, it was still a good portion. I ordered extra noodles and still have leftovers haha! The ramen broth, however, was just okay for me, not super flavorful or spicy as was indicated being the spicy tonkotsu, but perhaps next time I'll eat it there and add extra chili sauce and seasonings. I wasn't 100% thrilled with my experience today, but I plan on giving them another shot when I'm not crunched for time and can dine in. I plan on posting an updated review at that time. read more

Gonna keep it short and sweet. Noodles are fresh made in front of you and amazing. Made from local flour and you can taste the difference. Slight inconveniences like them not having their alcohol license yet since they barely opened. I'm just waiting til I can have a good glass of sake with these noodles. This place was fantastic. I got a little worried at first when everyone's ramen came out and mine still hadn't about 10 minutes later. It finally came out and they apologized about a mixup. Ramen is a fickle beast, sometimes your like "wow Campbell's soup was BS, thanks a lot mom and dad." Then other times your like "yeah I'll go back to the Campbell's." This place will make you wish you were born and raised in Japan. However, it's your lucky day, because you are in SLC and this place exists. The server was super knowledgeable, nice and patient. Helped us order exactly what we dreamed of (one of us cannot eat soy products and is a vegetarian, yeah they still made it happen). The gyoza was fantastic, even came in like an extra egg blankety thing, which was crispy and killer. The ramen, man, let me tell you, packed full or flavor and fresh. Get extras, go nuts, dive in head first and slurp it all the way until your licking the bowl like a Labrador and everyone is watching you. I have to say the pork slices were on point, super tasty and they really added to the flavor. Go here. Support a new locally run small business. Went here for lunch last week and asked to substitute the pork slice for vegetables and they wanted to charge $3 extra. The prices weren't horrible, but once I actually tasted the food I was under impressed. it was flavorless and the noodles tasted freeze dried - like the ones you might get in a cup-o-noodle. On top of the lack of flavor, the server spilled broth on me when placing my dish on the table - and barely apologized. The noodles, charshu, broth, and takoyaki are all fantastic! We came here a bit skeptical since ramen and Korean seem to be the latest trend in food. As soon as we received our takoyaki, we were impressed on how good it was which immediately got us excited for the ramen. There was a large chunk of octopus, the filling was fully cooked but still creamy, and the outside was crisp (and magma hot inside, so beware). The toppings are lacking in amount even after paying for the extras, and the egg was average and not seasoned. Overall, we thought this was pretty good and will certainly check it out once more. read more

Stopped here on our road trip to Yellowstone. The Ramen is very flavorful and delicious.

My favorite here is the following: Karaage, a little bit salty soy sauce flavor, traditional Japanese style fried chicken(boneless); Garlic rice, flaky fried garlic in chili oil topped on white rice, can't stop eating; then I add fried Bockchoy to this to make a balanced meal. I say these are Japanese home style meal. If you add a Ramen bowl to these, it will fill your hungry stomach for sure. read more

The most awful experience I've ever had! Waiter wore dirty ass gloves that were ripped. Served us our silverware,straw, and when served us our meal his finger was inside the bowl as he carried it to our table. Don't let the slightly sketchy decor deter you. This place is good. We had the gyoza, spam musubi, and Spicy Super Shouyu Tonk Ramen. The gyoza were lacy fried crunchiness on one side and pillowy soft dumpling on the other, wrapped around spicy soft pork. The wasabi dipping sauce with the musubi was amazeballs. Then there was the ramen. The mother f*cking ramen with its perfect house-made noodles, gorgeous pork, and soft boiled egg. 10/10 will go back again.
