Sushi Yasaka is hands down my favorite casual sushi spot. Service is friendly and they're quick. I normally come during the weekends for their lunch deal, it's just TOO good. I get the miyaki lunch set which comes with 4 pc nigiri, 6 pc sashimi, 1 roll, and miso soup or salad. The quality of the fish is superb. The pieces just melt in my mouth!! Seriously the best, I can't get over it. Just look at the pictures, they don't lie. You can't go wrong, I've come for their regular dinner menu and the other dishes I got were great too. Overall, I highly highly highly recommend Sushi Yasaka. This place is such a gem, I love it and I can't wait to go back.

There's also Omakase option, offered but not counter seating, served at your table. I totally recommend the spicy scallop roll, any of the sushi/sashimi entrees and the fried oysters. The oysters were really fresh, plump and juicy. The sushi and sashimi is very fresh and served at the perfect temp. Finely cut. Every piece we had was perfect. Salmon and tuna were the favorites. Reservations suggested at dinner time. There are also some steps at the entrance to the dining room.

This was a super enjoyable omakase experience. I came for lunch with a friend and got the deluxe…read moreset (standard is $49 + $10 for wagyu course). The fish was all delicious and all had some kind of unique topping, and some were also torched. Each piece was truly one bite and I preferred this to the bigger nigiri that eats more messily. Typically at sushi places I stick to salmon, tuna, and yellowtail, so I had some reservations about whether I would like everything, but really everything was tasty. Some of my favorites were the appetizer yuzu yellowtail with microgreens, and then amberjack (who knew!). The wagyu had a truffle topping and it was a great piece but I am not sure it was necessary and next time would probably just opt for the standard classic set. The waitress was very friendly and the chefs checked in throughout the meal and seemed to care that we were enjoying the nigiri. A few times we were asked if we wanted add on ons (drinks, and then sushi add ons later). I would have preferred if the menu was just maybe left without explicit solicitations to order more. But other than that not sure anything could have been better. The restaurant is simple, understated, and minimalist. Though right on a busy street the outside is so narrow and understated that it would be easy to walk by every day and miss this place. Would highly recommend for an extremely good and reasonably priced omakase experience.

There were around 9 courses and then we got the waygu piece bc we picked the $58 omakase - otherwise it is $49 for the 9 pieces. I think there are other places that def give you more pieces for the price. The appetizer was monkfish liver with some salad - the monkfish liver was okay - def needed the sauce otherwise it would have been dry. I enjoyed the king salmon and otoro pieces. Overall I think the fish could have been fresher. Staff was very friendly and attentive!

I'm a sugarfish regular at many locations in Beverly Hills and nyc and this location has consistently had bad rice. I came here a second time hoping the rice was just off the last time. But it seems like the kitchen and manager does not know the standard for what the rice should be. One of the standouts of Sugarfish is the texture and airy fluffiness of the rice. This location has not followed it. Absolutely disappointing when I come to Sugarfish for this reason. Service is not great. Our plates were not cleared before our next plates came. My finished plates always used to be cleared. Now I had to move my empty plates myself for the server to put my next plate down.

The entire table ordered the mid tier set, everything was delicious and fresh and very satisfying. The server did not explain what we were being served at each time so I had to ask but other than that the service was good. We also had a bottle of wine and enjoyed or lunch very much. Tip and tax is included in the price which is great because you can budget your diner without overcharges. Would love a bit more light in the space as it was a bit dark but the decor is pretty and the tables are big enough to fit your food.
