Super happy with the service there, I feel like they gave my lambretta extra love and attention... Not that Im after anything free, Diego did go the extra mile on things that other shops might have passed on. Got my lights rigged and working, did a very noticeably way better tune, and found switches, and solved my lighting issues, and on my way out he came through with getting my glove box latched rigged to work that id not been able to find a replacement for, that was just a super cool thing to do and its running amazing! When my Niu EVO electric scooter started stalling with a Check Engine light, I brought it into SF Scooter Centre. As the local dealer for Niu, they were super helpful. They coordinated with the Niu US distributor to apply a set of recommended firmware updates. When that didn't work they obtained a replacement motor from the distributor and fitted it. Now my bike is back on the road. Throughout the repair they were communicative and transparent about the process. They were reliable and friendly, and their estimates were dependable. This is the kind of place you rarely find anymore. Barry is personable and full of stories and information. I brought my 2007 LX-150 Vespa in for its first service since buying it several months ago, and stood by as Barry inspected it and showed me various aspects of the engine and discussed its maintenance. There's something so comforting about seeing the owner of a shop take such an interest! Then he jumped on a drove it a bit to see how it runs and explained everything they could offer, from a complete service to the bits & bobs I could do at a minimum to feel safe, depending on my budget. By the time I picked up my scooter, tuned up with a new front tire, I felt more secure than I ever had, knowing they had given it a once over and made it run its best. It also came in under the original estimate :) Since my service, I've driven it farther and with more confidence - even at night! Such a great shop. I felt like I mattered to them here. Dusting off this old Yelp account to write a well-deserved review for the guys at SF Scooter Centre. A couple of years ago, I purchased a used Vespa scooter from them. I was brand new to the whole scooter experience (I had literally never even driven a car, had a motorcycle permit, and had just taken the motorcycle safety training) and was very anxious about making such a large purchase with little knowledge. On top of that, I had a pretty tight budget. I'll spare you all the details, but they helped walk me through the process of scooter shopping (including giving me advice I could use when looking elsewhere) and were patient with me as I worked through my hesitation. The price of the scooter I bought was fair, and they were up front about all of the costs. I have been really happy with the purchase and riding a scooter in SF has really improved my quality of life in many ways. I have also been taking my scooter back to them for maintenance and repairs since, and every time I am really appreciative of the way they do business. Again, they're always honest and up front about costs, turnaround is quick even though they're busy, they seem to go out of their way to make sure I don't pay for things I don't need, and they patiently answer all of my stupid questions. Lunchbox the bulldog is also so stinkin' cute and keeps me company when there's a wait. TLDR: Great guys, great shop, cute dog, definitely go here for scooter purchases and service. read more

The guys at this shop are the best in the land!! I was hit by a van on my Vespa. I immediately went to their shop and was met with nothing but kindness and concern. They treat you like an old friend. They looked at the scooter and Barry gave me amazing advice at how to handle things. He was patient with me and discussed all of my options. I had been planning a 10k service with them, and then the accident happened so it didn't make sense. They made sure to help me get my baby in safe condition to continue riding..as my insurance dropped my claim due to the fact I was delivering at the time. I sadly had to get a lawyer, and Barry helped me with an estimate. They are insanely fair with their prices. I was quoted at a shop nearby for an estimate at 6 times what they charge here. They take the time to teach you about what they're doing and how to take care of your scooter on your own. They are honest about what you really need and what you can get away with putting off for a bit if you can't afford things. They've let me go in the back and hang out while they work on things. All the guys are friendly and amazing..Austin has great energy and is lovely to talk to. And Lunchbox the adorable beast was my therapy pet at some of my visits. I was pretty eager to pick one up since I just got my moto license, and this was also my first vehicle purchase ever. Diego and Barry were so helpful, answered all my newbie questions (everything from insurance, parking/security tips, and helping me feel comfortable with all the controls on the scooter). I've been crushing on a Vespa since I went to Bali for cruising around SF and was so overwhelmed by all the endless information online, but I became determined to buy one within a week. He took the time to walk me through every nuance of scooter ownership, from the very basics of safety, using the brakes, to exploring my options for buying a Vespa (vintage vs. new) and understanding pricing. He had two for sale, but since I wanted a lighter color, he went the extra mile, helping me sift through Craigslist (apparently there are many scooter scams) to find me an ET4 150 from another shop. Not knowing what questions to ask to assess its condition (I am not an engineer, I am very aloof with mechanics and such), he kindly called them right then and there for me to suss it out. These guys really are an honest shop and I am really happy to support this local business. Prices are reasonable, service is top-notch and I received my Vespa scooter back in much better condition than I anticipated. They really went out of their way to over-deliver and exceed my expectations. Currently because of Covid-19, only one person is allowed in the store at a time, but it's not a huge deal. I recommend you call them before you come in, as I didn't even need to make an appointment. They were generous enough to help squeeze me in for a last minute tire change on my scooter, and even cleaned and disinfected it entirely before delivering it back to me. The owner, Barry Gwin, is not the sharpest tool in the shed. But he is indeed an ABSOLUTE TOOL!!! DON'T buy a GenZe Scooter, or any electric scooter from this place! The advertising is HIGHLY DECEPTIVE and they don't honor the warranty. My GenZe scooter was originally purchased here, yet per the owner Barry, they refuse to do any work on it. Which really sucks, being they are the only authorized dealer in SF and EVERYTHING needs to be done by an authorized dealer, or the warranty is completely voided. This includes things as simple as buying a new tire or topping off the brake fluid. It has to be done here and here only. So basically you're dropping $4500+ on a worthless scooter, without a warranty, that has a ton of mechanical problems. Not to mention the shop charges $120 in labor to replace an $80 tire. Which takes the mechanic all of 15 minutes to do. The mechanic is a really, really nice guy though. It's unfortunate that he has to work for this TOOL Barry!!! GenZe also won't sell me replacement parts, and there are no 3rd party sellers. So basically you're 100% screwed if you buy a scooter from this shop, from BARRY the TOOL! I had an issue twice, with the rear brake assembly leaking fluid all over the back wheel. YUP, a pretty gnarly crash ensued. Because of this, every week I check to see that all of the bolts are tightened down correctly. I explained this to Barry and he said "tightening a bolt is unauthorized and will void the warranty." WTF!!! Nice of you to try to void the warranty under a complete crap premise. Shows real character, right? For the owner of a scooter shop to tell you he'd rather your brake fluid leak all over your wheels, resulting in a horrific crash. Rather than encouraging you to actually make sure the faulty assembly (and design) isn't leaking, putting you in major harms way. ZERO MORAL COMPASS!!! I asked him why he refuses to do repairs on the scooter that was purchased at his shop. His response was. "There's no upside." I tried to rectify things thru GenZe. They responded, with a Cease & Desist Letter from their lawyer. Good times!!! read more

Barry and Diego were professional and knowledgeable dissecting the details of the scooters as well making comparisons with others brands. I appreciate Barry for being a direct business man who tells you the way it is (for someone who isn't accustomed to direct people might think he is a little dry which it is not the case). Short Story: My bike wasn't fixed after multiple attempts, and working with Barry (the owner?) was very aggravating to say the least. This guy's demeanor was rude and unprofessional on another level.. Tried to suck it up and I gave him a few shots to fix my bike only to have him not fix it in the end and not return my phone call. Being honest, I really didn't need the burnt-out hipster attitude from a grown man. Wasn't cute. Long Story: Full transparency, this is the first negative Yelp review I've taken the time to write. This one's for Barry. To start, I towed in my Vespa LX150 for repair because of a persistent rough idle which eventually led to it dying. Spoke to Austin (really nice guy) over the phone before bringing it in, and he said he thought it was a carburetor issue. I had them attempt to fix the issue as well as do a general tune up and change out the back tire. After dropping off, I got a call back from Barry who explained to me that they managed to get the bike running just fine and completed the other work I requested. I went down to the shop to pick it up, spoke with Barry, and he told me that they had replaced a few cracked lines that were causing the rough idle and dead Vespa. Great. Rode the bike home and later that evening it died on me. Had it towed to the shop after describing to Barry what had happened. He was apologetic and assured me that they would do their best to remedy the situation. I understood, these things happen I told him. I suggested to him that it might be a carburetor issue based off of some feedback from a biker friend, my dad, and even Austin from the shop. I admitted that I'm definitely not the expert, yet Barry still scoffed at the idea. Got a call back a few days later and guess what, they did the very thing that Barry scoffed at: cleaned carburetor and reset the levels and it was back normal. I came in to pick up my bike, and Barry was cool enough not to charge me for the parts, but just the labor which I was happy to pay. In the shop, I noticed that the bike still sounded a bit rough at idle. He assured me that it was perfectly fine and that they test rode it nine miles without issue. Barry looked me in the eyes and candidly told me that he thought that I was the issue and that it was all in my head. My gut told me it was still funky, but I rode it home nonetheless. After a few days my bike died. I knew it would. I called him up and told him the bad news, and that I would be out of town for a few weeks but would bring it in when I got back. A few weeks went by and I called him up yesterday and he literally acted like he had no idea who I was, even after reading my chart on his computer. Halfway through my explanation of what had happened, he asked me if he could call me back, something had come up at the shop I guess. Of course I obliged, and he still hasn't called me back. I'm done with this review, SF Scooter Center, and Barry. read more

Bought an used Buddy 125 off CL that's in need of a top box. Barry replied to my email inquiry quickly and explained the cost breakdown. Everyone was super friendly and chilled, including the other customer who didn't have an appointment. They really take care of you and your ride with kindness. The install was done within the time as told, looks great, and after I paid, they realize the labor wasn't included, but decided to give me an early Xmas present with free labor!!
