Wonderful experience~ Would not hesitate to buy from these gentleman again. Love my Genuine Buddy! So much fun to zip around with, and much easier to operate than the Honda magna 750 I learned to ride on . Definitely gets busy~ SF Parking

When my Niu EVO electric scooter started stalling with a Check Engine light, I brought it into SF Scooter Centre. As the local dealer for Niu, they were super helpful. They coordinated with the Niu US distributor to apply a set of recommended firmware updates. When that didn't work they obtained a replacement motor from the distributor and fitted it. Now my bike is back on the road. Throughout the repair they were communicative and transparent about the process. They were reliable and friendly, and their estimates were dependable. Would definitely use them again for any scooter problems or purchases.

This is the kind of place you rarely find anymore. Barry is personable and full of stories and information. I brought my 2007 LX-150 Vespa in for its first service since buying it several months ago, and stood by as Barry inspected it and showed me various aspects of the engine and discussed its maintenance. There's something so comforting about seeing the owner of a shop take such an interest! Then he jumped on a drove it a bit to see how it runs and explained everything they could offer, from a complete service to the bits & bobs I could do at a minimum to feel safe, depending on my budget. By the time I picked up my scooter, tuned up with a new front tire, I felt more secure than I ever had, knowing they had given it a once over and made it run its best. It also came in under the original estimate :) Since my service, I've driven it farther and with more confidence - even at night! Such a great shop. I felt like I mattered to them here. I will definitely be back. Be sure to say hi to Sparkplug when you go in!

Buying a scooter from SF Scooter Centre was the best decision ever. Barry and his team made the buying experience not only easy, but also incredibly enjoyable and educational. They are kind, thoughtful, and thorough - I couldn't recommend them more. I walked out with a beautiful Vespa ET4, insurance, and all the accessories I needed to get on the road. I love my scooter! Thank you, Barry!!

Dusting off this old Yelp account to write a well-deserved review for the guys at SF Scooter Centre. A couple of years ago, I purchased a used Vespa scooter from them. I was brand new to the whole scooter experience (I had literally never even driven a car, had a motorcycle permit, and had just taken the motorcycle safety training) and was very anxious about making such a large purchase with little knowledge. On top of that, I had a pretty tight budget. I'll spare you all the details, but they helped walk me through the process of scooter shopping (including giving me advice I could use when looking elsewhere) and were patient with me as I worked through my hesitation. The price of the scooter I bought was fair, and they were up front about all of the costs. I have been really happy with the purchase and riding a scooter in SF has really improved my quality of life in many ways. I have also been taking my scooter back to them for maintenance and repairs since, and every time I am really appreciative of the way they do business. Again, they're always honest and up front about costs, turnaround is quick even though they're busy, they seem to go out of their way to make sure I don't pay for things I don't need, and they patiently answer all of my stupid questions. Lunchbox the bulldog is also so stinkin' cute and keeps me company when there's a wait. TLDR: Great guys, great shop, cute dog, definitely go here for scooter purchases and service.

Took my 2009 Vespa in for a service and really enjoyed the service and help from the guys at the shop. Plus their new little bulldog named spark plug :) haha service turned out excellent and they have new/used scooters for sale if you want one!

Folks, this place is a business and when you arrive sincere you always get sincere and immediate service. Sorry that anyone goes away mad. These guys will bend over backwards for you but like their dog, do not yank the chain.

    2019 buddy kick
    Benjamin R.

I came into the shop this week to purchase a buddy kick and it was such a smooth and positive experience. I was pretty eager to pick one up since I just got my moto license, and this was also my first vehicle purchase ever. Diego and Barry were so helpful, answered all my newbie questions (everything from insurance, parking/security tips, and helping me feel comfortable with all the controls on the scooter). They took care of everything for me, no trip to the DMV needed. Walked away with my new scoot, tags, plate, and registration. They even let me ride around in the back alley until I felt comfortable to ride it home. Took a quick detour to twin peaks on the way ;) I highly recommend this shop. It was like doing business with friends and family, and I will be sure to keep coming back for all of my scooter needs.

Mike, Ben and their team at Moto Java gave me an honest assessment about what needed to be fixed, gave me an itemized invoice showing me it'd be better I traded my old scooter for parts and bought something new. They appreciated I was an experienced rider, knew what I wanted and didn't try to oversell me on something I didn't want and gave me a fair price for my trade in. My previous scooter dealers/mechanics have given me a wide range of mileage for routine maintenance. Mike and Ben gave me an easy, clear number to remember so I bring my scooter in for routine maintenance based on the specific scooter I bought. Every time I call for an appointment Moto Java gets me in fast and finishes earlier than estimated. They also give me an itemized receipt of what was done and a heads up to what the next maintenance bill will cost so I'm not caught off guard. My review is based on my scooter that I bought from Moto Java. However I know they sell and service and sell a variety of motorcycles like long range highway motorcycles to mountain bikes to scooters. Moto Java is easily accessible off S Van Ness. Mike and Ben are always up for a chat about what they sell, no pressure sales and offer honest estimates about any repairs you might need. Definitely check out Moto Java.

Freddie and Henry were great too, really easy dudes to talk to and very helpful with sharing tips and other pointers for me. Then on my trip home my storage box fell off my bike on the freeway, so I went directly back to the shop, they immediately got defensive and tried to blame me or my installer. When I asked for the owner it was deflected claiming he lives out of state. They took no responsibility. I would have at least taken an apology or sorry for putting you and or the public in danger. Lastly, I originally had my two tires replaced, very costly compared to other spots, but testing out the bike, it is shotty work. It doesn't feel balanced and feels shaky and slick. Im gonna have to take it somewhere else to get it looked at cause I definitely dont trust these mechanics. The shop seems okay, this is strictly about the mechanics and the work they've done. Another odd thing that really stuck out to me was how exact the timing was on the finished work, 1 1/2 hours... and I mean exactly. I do not recommend coming to this place, you will end up feeling unsafe, feel like you got ripped off and if something going wrong, it's your fault. I brought my vintage motorcycle in for three specific issues: to have the carburetor checked because it was coughing under load going uphill, small oil leak, and to have the rear tire replaced because it was slowly losing air. When I picked the bike up, I was told the work was complete after inspection. At no point was I told the clutch was worn out or that it needed replacement, nor was there any mention of it on my invoice. The very first ride home, I immediately noticed the motorcycle wasn't riding the same. Downshifting became difficult, the shifter would stick, and it became much harder to find neutral. None of these issues existed before the service. I reached out simply to understand what had changed. I asked whether the oil or any adjustments could be contributing to the difference. Rather than answering my questions, I was repeatedly told I needed a new clutch and to "learn how to live with it" because the bike is 45 years old. What concerns me is that the clutch only became an issue after I reported the bike wasn't operating the same. If the clutch was truly worn to the point that it required replacement whether cable or complete system, I would have expected that to be identified during the service, discussed with me when I picked up the motorcycle, and documented on my work order. It wasn't. As a woman, I left feeling dismissed rather than listened to. I wasn't accusing anyone of causing the problem, I was asking reasonable questions to understand why my motorcycle behaved differently immediately after the service. Instead of a professional discussion, I was met with defensive responses and told to accept it. I understand that vintage motorcycles require maintenance and that components wear out. What I expect from any reputable shop is clear communication, transparency about anything discovered during the inspection, and respectful treatment when a customer has legitimate concerns. It's disappointing because my first experience here earned my trust. Unfortunately, this second experience lost it.

My Bello Moto experience has been a mixed bag of ups and downs. Please take into account that my…read moreexperience at Bello Moto is strictly online, email, and phone calls. Also, I am new to the Vespa world in general and didn't know much about anything. However, I am a quick study and have been educating myself since my interest to purchase arise. The staff has been good for the most part. Dean is a professional that will go over the models, pricing, service, and any questions about the product. Dean has been extremely helpful and patient when answering my questions. Scott is a good guy, that doesn't always respond to emails, which bothers me as a paying customer. Pros: This location will provides a great selection of vintage Vespas on this side of the Mississippi! They acquire Vespas locally or have them shipped from Italy. You will get a quality product from Bello Moto. Cons: The prices are top tier. In a market where finding a vintage Vespa of your choosing is few and far in between, perhaps this is a good problem. There were many little problems Bello Moto should share with customers that are not local since they ship the products nationwide. The clutch did not have the gear numbers stamped in. This made guessing the gears hard for this new rider. The kick stand leaned to one side. The throttle did not snap back, making that a very dangerous to ride! Truth be told, I still would have purchased it, but I would have appreciated a heads up especially if I am paying top dollar. The description said it was a 1974 Vespa with "factory holes for turn signals". When I got the title, I learned it was actually a 1976 model. The factory holes for turn signals led me to believe that I could have someone install the turn signals at some point. I was told I couldn't add the turn signals because the aftermarket compression brake took up all the conduit space, making it impossible as it is. Here is one of my biggest problems, It was more than that. The whole wiring harness, including the switchers, have been ripped out. I didn't learn that until I had the product shipped to me. These items are not found on the market! Luckily I found a competent mechanic in Orange County that made a customer electrical harness and was able to get my front and rear turn signals operational in tandem with the aftermarket brake. I had Bello Moto install a right hand side mirror because I am blind in my right eye. This was a crucial must for me. They said that a handlebar mount (to match the left one) was impossible due to the aftermarket front brake so they installed an overcharged mirror onto the shield. Turns out that a matching mirror could be ordered and installed despite Bello Moto saying it was impossible to. Bello Moto needs to be transparent with their clientele. Vintage Vespas sell themselves! Inform your potential cliental of any and all issues. Setting the proper expectations to someone that can't walk up in person is crucial for a great customer experience. I wish I knew about the electrical system being compromised for turn signals. Also, all the little problems should be discussed. Your mechanics gave bad advice for mirror solutions.

The classic scooter scene in SF can be a hard one to break into. You basically have to "know…read moresomeone" to ever acquire one. As a new classic enthusiast, Bello Moto helped me navigate that barrier. Their shop is one of the few in the Bay that you can go to and have a selection of amazing classics to choose from. I can't think of another place that you can walk in and choose a vintage Lambretta or Vespa and ride away with it that day. They have up to date stock on their website. And the turn around time for getting it on the road is lightning quick. Granted, these scooters are not cheap. But the Lamby 1967 Li150 series 3 I chose is pristine. The few little issues it had were taken care of immediately. Tim was fantastic. I flooded the engine in my garage and was having shifting issues after I got it home. He came to my place and got me on the road again. It had to go back in for some clutch adjustments and Tim made sure everything was running great even weeks after the purchase. The day I drove off the lot I got about 5 min away and ran out of gas..Tim came through again with the save and I was so grateful. He taught me so much about my new scoot..how to unflood the engine, change the spark plug, adjust my clutch cables etc. he was very patient and really wanted me to ride away happy. All the men I know in the scene said I'd never get my hands on a Lambretta..and now because of Bello I'm a proud owner. I did some light mods on it today and am so happy to have a new wrenching project. Thank you so much to Tim and Jeff for all your help and my new baby :)
