Munroe Motors has kind of ruined every other service experience for us, in the best way possible. We bring our motorcycle in there regularly, and at this point the level of care and consistency just feels unmatched. It is not just that they do great work, it is how they treat you while they are doing it. You walk in and it feels like they actually care about getting it right, not just getting it done. Every visit has been smooth, clear, and surprisingly stress-free. They explain things in a way that makes sense, keep you in the loop, and never make you feel like you are being upsold or brushed off. There is a level of professionalism there that is hard to find, especially when it comes to something as important as your bike. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and it shows in the results. At this point, they have completely set the bar for us. It is rare to trust a shop this much, but we do. The bike always comes back exactly how it should, and we leave feeling confident every time. Andy and Brent have always taken care of me and my Ducati MultiStrada since the day we met and they helped me get my bike running when no one else could. Just recently I lost a hard bag on the right side of my bike Super Bowl weekend. I managed to find replacement bags as my MultiStrada is a 2007 and she can be a bit temperamental lol. Any how Andy as always came out looked at it and the issue I was having and knew exactly what to do. These guys rock at Munroe Motors and are so accommodating, I brought my bike to them last minute out of left field, they fixed my problem on a an ugly day in between rain storms and got me in and out fixing my mount, repairing my hard bag locking mechanism making sure it was correct to stay on my bike. I have gone to Munroe Motors twice for service on my 2006 Triumph Bonneville. The first time they helped me when my motorcycle was leaking gasoline, which was a scary experience. But they said that they had seen this same problem the week before on another older bike. It was a kinked hose, and as soon as they unkinked it, it stopped leaking. They did a bunch of other work on my bike, changed the oil, adjusted the idle, polished the tank, replaced my brake lever, all stuff the seller should have done (but didn't). So now I feel so much safer riding! I came back today because I broke some parts, one of which had a broken off bolt in it. They managed to take that broken bolt out and did it as a courtesy. Super nice guys! I recommend going there for all your Triumph needs. read more

My experience here was great. The whole staff was welcoming, and the first thing I noticed walking into the shop was the relaxed, no-pressure vibe. I mostly worked with the shop manager, Andy--super knowledgeable, honest, and direct--and their finance guy Danny, who's easygoing and good for a couple of jokes. What I really appreciated about both of them was their patience and straightforward input. I had a lot of questions, and they took the time to answer every one without any judgment. After Munore Motors declined my replacement gas tank cover I ended up calling Ducati and filing a claim directly; as a result, they provided a refund via Ducati credit, which is fine with me; hence, I'll be buying more accessories but not at Munroe Motors. I filled out a 'Parts Request Form' requesting if they have a part in stock on their website and while I get a quick response from Dan, they ignore the subject of my request and try to sell me a bike I already own. I'm not sure if they don't read requests fully or if it was honest confusion, but it's shady tactics to try to sell someone a bike when they are simply reaching out for parts when you're suppose to be an authorized parts dealer. 10 minutes after correctly the sales guy I finally get a response from parts. read more

I rode to Munroe in September 2022 just 'to see' what the Multistrada V4S felt like. I'm 5-8 with a 28.4" inseam. One of the sales guys rolled one out so I could sit on it. I could be on the balls of my feet and the bike, although heavy wasn't so heavy that I'd not be able to handle it. After a lifetime of riding/racing motocross, desert, and finally road racing and training racers I wanted a bike that would in all likelihood be my last one. I asked Andy what kind of deal he could work for me and he said the best deal would be on the shop's MS demo bike. It was at the mileage they set as the maximum before selling. So he walked me outside and showed me the MSV4S Sport and I was in love. He went into his office and came out with a post-it note with the price. Deal I was sold. Ask if he had and could install the crash bars (because I knew I would fall at some point) and he did. Subsequent to my purchase I emailed and talked to the staff there about questions I had/have since this bike has more tech than my car or computer. LOL. In each and every case I get a prompt and courteous response, what I consider old school, which is a compliment. I didn't get as much as I had hoped trading in my 2017 Zero DSR, but it all balanced out with the price of the MS. My first Ducati, my first experience at Munroe. Both have been positive. read more

I recently rode my Multistrada from Seattle to San Francisco for a short stay with my son, during which I decided to have a general maintenance performed and was referred to Munroe Motors. I contacted them on a Tuesday and, recognizing the brevity of my stay, they scheduled the service for the upcoming Thursday. Also helpful, they agreed to accept my bike that day, thereby saving me the bother of parking on the San Francisco streets. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable staff and a charming showroom full of interesting bikes of my favorite flavors: Ducati, Triumph, MV Agusta.... All went well. I returned Thursday afternoon, picked up my bike and paid what I considered to be a reasonable fee. Again, all went well, however, upon arriving at my son's home 2 miles away, I discovered that my left pannier was not on the bike, though I'm certain that it was there when I left Munroe Motors. I asked them to search around the store for it while I retraced my short ride back to the shop. When I arrived, I found that Andrew, the manager, was also driving the route searching for it, but unfortunately it was not to be found. By this time, the shop had already closed, and these folks were on their own time assisting me. I thought the helpful response from Andy and the crew was phenomenal, but they took it further; recognizing that I was headed back to Seattle first thing in the morning and now lacked sufficient storage to carry everything I needed, Andrew searched the shop for replacement panniers, which were located and placed on my bike. And, to top it off, the crew mailed my remaining right pannier to my home in Seattle, which I received yesterday. I was told that Munroe Motors is the oldest motorcycle dealer in San Francisco and it is understandable why: the level of service and customer care is superb! Especially when one considers that I was only visiting the city and that the promise of repeat business was minimal. The team at Munroe, led by Andrew and including Brent, Brad and virtually everyone I encountered, made me feel welcome and valued as a fellow rider as well as a customer. Dishonest, the shop breaks parts and uses glue to hide this from customers. Unqualified technicians: when doing a remedial head stud repair they used a 1/4" deep helicoil in a 1" deep case hole and stripped another during reassembly. They charged me 3,500 for this Buffoonery to release my bike. The only thing offered was I could have my bike back for free if I signed a NDA. I said no. Knowing I am disabled this asshole GM Andy pushed my bike out of the shop and refused to help me load it. I took my bike to catalyst Reaction Tuning who repaired all the damage caused by Munroe Motors in 10 hours for less money with pick up and delivery. I am currently working with the California bureau of automotive repair case #SF- 2022-18017.trying to get my money back from these hack crooks. I brought my bike there at the very beginning of August and they kept it until December. Do not buy a bike here. I went there to purchase 2020 Ducati 821 they have on their website listed for $10,500. Spoke to Matthew. He seemed reasonable guy with decent knowledge of what he was talking about. Asked to send me out the door price with couple of add ons I asked them to install on a bike. And was hoping to wrap up the deal on Tuesday. I did get email but there was quite a hidden fees. Advertised price was increased by 10% (before taxes and fees) with so called "handling and freight" fee of $1349. That's a 10% add on a $10,500 advertised price. That's shady! I've been running sales department for a while and was always against doing business this way. Sad to see in 2021 dealerships still do business this way. read more

My experience here has always been great. Stopped in again earlier today to have Ben install my Pinlock. He did such a great job last time I bought a new visor so I had him throw one on today since I got a new helmet. Had an awesome chat and have always had great chats with people in this shop. Is there a way to give a negative star to Andy, the so called manager? Agree with all other negative reviews about Andy. He is an employee but acts like he owns the place, and has this arrogant air about himself. Avoid this shop at all cost. He will mark up, treat you like garbage, make you wait forever, and pretty much do everything a good sales person shouldn't to their customers, let alone a "manager". His staff hates him but won't say so in front of him. The owners must be super lazy to not get rid of him. Save yourself the time and harassment and go to Desmoto for service (amazing people) and Marin speed shop to buy bikes. Munroe days are numbered as long as Andy is the manager. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. This review is only for Andy, the rest of the staff has always been cordial and professional. Andy is a tyrant who feels like he owns the shop and takes advantage of the fact that this is the only authorized dealer for certain brands in SF. He marks up prices, service bills, and sells defective used motorcycles. He sold me a Ducati which was defective and caused an accident that broke my arm and I needed major surgery. When I called him out on it, he refused to give me service anymore. I am working on a lawsuit. Another time before, he marked up the insurance claim quote and when questioned, he refused service. Their service wait times are ridiculous because they feel like they can do that vs. working harder to meet the backlog. I have bought multiple bikes from them and used to enjoy their shop before Andy took over as the manager. He was a terrible salesperson, not sure why he was given the manager role. I hope Ducati Triumph and other manufactures see this and do something about it. Save yourself the trouble and go to Desmoto on 17th for service - they are AMAZING, and provide much more reasonable rates and will fill you in much faster than Munroe. For sales go to Marin speed shop in San Rafael or somewhere outside SF. Boycott Munroe unless they good or Andy and his tyranny. read more

After reading several 1 star reviews here, I'm no longer surprised with my recent visit to Munroe service shop. While having my SFV4S in for a standard service check, I also used the opportunity to have them install new reservoir tanks for the brake and clutch lines, parts that I had purchased online. After showing them the hardware, they said no problem and provided me an estimate of the additional labor, which included purchasing their fluids as the lines needed to be flushed. However, upon pickup later that day, they informed me that the reservoirs couldn't be installed because they didn't have fasteners to make it work. They discovered this after removing one of the OEM tanks and flushing the line. So instead, they reinstalled the tank and filled its line. What's shady thing about my experience is that they still charged me the full price, labor, etc from the estimate even though they scrapped the job they agreed to do. They even charged me full prices for the fluid even though they didn't flush the other tank. If they say they can do a job, then it's on them if they run into problems. How could a service shop as large and resourced as Munroe couldn't determine if a couple of tanks could be installed before they started the labor? Again, as others have stated here, competency should be questioned. Lessons learned: if you do go here, be sure to ask them what if questions when you get service. Also, they never proactively return perfectly working parts back to you that were removed from your bike when you have new things installed on your bike, unless you ask. They installed a new lightweight bolt for the rear tire while they did this job. Upon pickup, they didn't have the OEM bolt at the desk as I paid the bill. I had to ask...and it took them more than ten minutes to find after asking a few service guys. read more

No ability to think around problems, never called to provide updates, only to ask for authorizing more and more time billed to "solve" an issue. Bike stuck there for nearly a month for a simple fix. A part that was totally fine before it went in suddenly required replacing after it mysteriously broke while in their care - just to add more $ to an already bloated bill. AVOID AVOID AVOID, even if it means going out the city. read more

One star for mechanical competency and care. I took my Street Triple R in for its 12k service since it was more complex than I wanted to deal with myself and I figured the shop I bought it from should be able to handle it, right? Apparently not. Before I get into the story, here's what they did wrong: 1. Misroute a gas overflow drain line, causing countershaft seal damage 2. Apply sealant to the countershaft seal in a failed attempt to fix it (after I called and complained) rather than replace it correctly 3. Overfilled the oil by about a quart 4. Overtightened the chain (~1/2" of play, under-spec for this bike) 5. Failed to replace the gas overflow drain line, leaving the overflow to drain right on multiple electrical connectors and the engine The morning after I get it back from service, I arrive at work only to realize that my bike is leaking oil on the ground, and most dangerously, on my rear tire. I was upset as I just paid a significant amount of money to have work done, and now it's endangering my life and possibly my engine. I call and they are kind enough to have someone pick it up. I first get a call from the shop exclaiming that this somehow wasn't their fault and avoided taking any responsibility! I found this both frustrating and unprofessional as something done during the service was the only thing that could have caused it. Later that day I get a second call, apologetic this time, claiming they fixed it and it was ready to pick up, no charge. Seemed like a good turn around time, so I was pretty happy - for now. That weekend I find it's still leaking oil and getting on my rear tire, albeit not as much as before. Rather than trust the shop I take a look at what was going on. I find that the countershaft seal that had been leaking, that they said they fixed, had just been covered in blobs of sealant, which obviously wasn't working (see pic). In addition, I checked my oil level and found they overfilled the oil by almost a quart and drained the extra into two large cups (see pic). In addition, my chain had been over-tightened with only about half an inch of play. Between the chain and the oil I started to really question if these people are qualified to do any work at all, since they can't seem to do even the simplest things right. I order a new seal and replace it myself in a little over an hour and haven't had any issues leaking since. I was surprised how easy it was considering they weren't able to, or weren't willing to, do this themselves. According to the mechanic that I had talked to, the gas overflow tube had been mis-routed and caught around the countershaft, damaging the seal. Apparently they weren't lying because later when I lifted my gas tank to clean the air filter, I found the overflow drain tube missing, leaving the overflow to drain right on some electrical connectors and my engine! After seeing all this, I can only hope the valve adjustment and cam chain tensioning they did was much more careful. Overall, getting work done on my bike here was a terrible experience, endangering both myself and my bike, and highlighting an amazing level of incompetence and lack of care. I would recommend anyone considering getting work done here go elsewhere to a more trustworthy shop or do it yourself. read more

The wait for the parts almost a month but hey the parts have to ship out from Italy they keep my updates with what going on. I bought a Tiger Rally from Munroe earlier this year and they were great. I was on a bit of a time crunch and they were able to get the sale and first service done really quickly. I worked with Matthew for the sale and he was very accommodating, responsive, and he helped get things done quickly. Andy helped me schedule a last-minute service and he's been incredibly helpful with questions I've had since buying the bike. Andy explicitly told me to take off the aluminum panniers before doing any off-roading. As you can see in the picture, I did not listen. The moral of the story is - listen to Andy! Mirrors stem was crooked after install. The rubber base was not lined up with mirror stem. The oil was way above the max line. It filled up the glass. Perhaps Jesse thought filling up the glass is max? I had a digital torque wrench and it took 40nm to loosen which coincidentally is same torque requirement as the mesh filter drain plug (40nm) and it's a common mistake people torque the oil drain plug same as mesh drain plug. The chain was definitely tighter than factory spec. It was tightened to 25mm. I purchased my bike brand new and then serviced my 600m at another dealer. Marin. It was 35mm. Manual saids 35-37mm. So it was definitely too tight unless I'm missing something..... was there a correction from Ducati that 25mm was better? Again. Overall it's correctable. read more
