This shop is history for Real Bikers. It is my most sincere wishes that this shop never closes, remains in The Family and is recognized as a Historically Significant part of San Francisco and doesn't ever close like so many of the other San Francisco landmark businesses have. These guys really helped me build a Beautiful Bike. At only 95 inches it out ran bikes with 120 inches because Ron knows his shit. Wayne is an incredible parts person and is absolutely brilliant. Seems like I am the black sheep of the reviews but my experience was a long way from the glowing reviews here. I felt oversold and poorly treated when having the guys look at my Harley. The guy who runs the shop is pleasant but the mechanic is generally grumpy and rude. I had new brake pads installed and received the bike back with grease all over it. Also I was told "sorry we didn't get a chance to test them as we've been really busy". Err, OK, I guess I'll test them and let you know if they don't work and I crash? A tire I bought was 30% more expensive buying at the store vs. the tire online. I realize there's store markup but that felt way too high. I ordered an extra part as was told they'd call once it was received. 10 days passed without a call. When I called on the Monday, 'yeah we called and left you a voicemail' - they did not. When I wanted to schedule to bring the bike to the shop at the weekend to have the part installed I was asked to 'call nearer the time'. This was on Monday for a Saturday appointment. They don't manage the garage calendar further than 5 days in advance? Disappointing as I was so excited to have some knowledgeable partners care for my bike and start a journey of maintenance & upgrades with them. Very few options in SF but I'll be exploring those in the future. read more

Wayne and Ron are hands down the most legit, knowledgeable, personable folks I have come across in decades of riding. From the parts side, Wayne has probably talked me out of more than I've purchased along the way. He's helped on every major decision with expert advice. I've learned far more than I would have asked for from the time he's taken to just talk with me, share experiences and just create an overall welcoming vibe in the shop. Ron is the best mechanic I've ever brought a bike to. While the work may not have been the most complex relative to the shops normal projects, the quality, timeliness and fairness in pricing makes them my first stop for everything including regular maintenance intervals. What has always struck me though is the follow up, I've often received a phone call the following day to ensure everything was as expected, probably worth noting It has been 100% of the time. Could not express more confidence, and pretty great to know the person who's actually working on your bike. Thanks for all you do. read more

Great shop; old school and no bullshit. As for the guy who claims the ownership was aggressive towards him, sounds to me like he was asking for it. This isn't some Honda or Ducati shop or a goddamn Nordstroms where "the customer is always right" and snobby, stuck up suburban assholes expect to receive proverbial blowjobs from the staff. Go buy a fucking yamaha if you want to be a weekend motorcyclist. Real bike shops are not for you, and if it were 30 years ago, you'd have gotten your ass kicked just for whining like a bitch. As for the shop itself, fantastic merch, killer bikes and the service is extraordinary. They know their shit and can pretty much fabricate anything you want, if of course, the price is right. Not cheap, but quality should never be cheap. As a newbie in Frisco, coming from biker heaven in AZ, this is by far my new favorite shop. These guys are the real deal. Jesse James talked about the bikes at California Choppers being the inspiration for many of his bike designs in a documentary on Discovery. It featured all the guys from the shop and how they evolved the California Chopper based on their style of riding in SF. Big Wayne is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, I originally went in there looking for a vintage transmission for my cousin's 1964 Harley Duo Glide. My cousin couldn't locate the part in Europe. Wayne was able to get it in 4 days, and then went above and beyond by shipping it to my cousin in Norway for me. They really know their stuff. They live eat and breathe the Chopper lifestyle you won't find a better Chopper shop anywhere. They don't just build bikes, they are works of rideable art. read more

There's nobody else in the city I'd trust working on my Harley but Ron. My bike is a pain to wrench on (metric and standard - a VROD), and sometimes Ron has to learn as he goes, but he's a damn savvy mechanic who can figure out just about anything...always gets me back on the road with confidence. I'd also rather pay the small markup on parts than trot over to any of the dealerships in the burbs. Ron and Wayne can find any part you need, and they do parts runs to Dudley Perkins almost every day for a quick turnaround. These guys are rock solid in my book. read more

Its probably the only Harley shop who know what they are doing in all of SF. Ron the mechanic is grumpy and a man of few words. But he knows his stuff and if you can get on his schedule, you will have the best guy working on your bike. Prices are reasonable and the shop is owned by Wayne...a big Old Hells Angel dude. These guys are always polite and I have been going here for years. Don't come here if you just want to waste their time (although Wayne does enjoy chatting with his customers). One of the few shops in town I would go to. I brought my Sportster in for a tire change, and they checked out some other problems I was having, at no charge. This is really great since most shops love ripping off people, (especially women-yep it's true) who have no mechanical knowledge, or like me, can't be bothered. And even though they aren't big fans of sports bikes, they won't give you too much shit for riding "Jap bikes". Consequently, I may not be able to bring my Honda there, but I would still suggest them for Harley's since there is a shortage of those mechanics in town. We are lucky to have them around. read more

Awesome guys. Love how clean the shop is and how detail oriented they are. California choppers custom made me custom brackets to fit my rear pegs on my sportster. They also found me a rear seat to keep the stock look when only 2 were left in the US! They may seem pricey but you get what you pay for and that's quality work here! I am an attorney and also work with some non-profits. One of the things that is important in my line of work is knowing "who to trust." You can totally trust these guys. If they say they will do something, they will do it. That's rare in our modern society where people just tend to do what is "acceptable," instead of what is "right." The guy behind the counter had his Hells Angel's vest on and i SWEAR I saw 1% patch on it. they sell gear and do custom fabrication and sponsor runs etc. They are super knowledgeable and helpful. I dropped by with my new Nightster to see if they could powder coat the pipes black. Because of the new emissions, they weren't sure, but gave me the number of their contractor on the peninsula. read more

Can't believe I'm just now writing about CC. I've been servicing my bikes with these guys for more than 10 years. Ron is aces and if you bribe him with some diet coke he'll sometimes fit you in sooner (no promises). Plan in advice for your service to be done close to regional events. This place is so different from the typical bike shop. I stopped by one morning with a badly neglected and mangled rear brake on my Sporty.
