Not sure why they get so many high review stars - drinks were weak, the food mediocre and bland. Portions were small. Doubt I'll be back.

We love San Jose's! Our favorite Mexican restaurant. Everything we have has is delicious but my favorite is the chimichange and steak fajitas. We've been customers for a long time - recently checked out their new digs, as they took over the old Positano's spot. Lots bigger than the old spot, mariachi band, lots of new updates. The menu prices didn't seem to jump immensely but with the addition of a full bar, I'm pretty sure this is where they hope to capitalize with a michelada price of almot $8. (seriously it's beer and bloody mary mix?) Not thinking we'll be rushing back...I guess I miss the little hole in the wall we once loved. read more

San Jose's just opened in this location. The place is sparse inside. I ordered a tostada salad with the steak and my friend ordered a burrito. Was disappointed with the salad which was overpriced. There were hardly any beans, avocado or cheese and tomatoes. It was all lettuce and small pieces of steak. The shell was old. My friends burrito had hardly any ingredients inside other than a lot of lettuce as well. The waitress didn't seem to be interested in serving us. When I asked her where were all the ingredients in my tostada salad she just shrugged and went away. The chips weren't even fresh but I wasn't surprised. Will never come back again. read more

Amazing gem! 2 for 1 house margaritas all day everyday! The chips and salsa is to die for! Try not to fill up on them before ur food comes. The burritos are very good and very filling perfect for sharing. Enchiladas are pretty good not the best. The beef tips amazing so tender and so much flavor! Everything taste fresh and made to order! I had written a less than stellar review a few years ago when they first moved into their current (then new) location in Ocoee. My main complaints then weren't with the food but with the atmosphere. They weren't taking advantage of their patio and were seating in the lackluster dining room that had no decoration or any ambiance which kind of made for a dull dining experience. Happily, that has changed and now they offer a fun and inviting patio area and are seating in the more festive dining room. The food is great so once again, we are returning on a more regular basis. I am glad to see them doing well in the Ocoee location. read more

I love San Jose's! It's the only place I can find the perfect burrito with all the toppings I want instead of having to ask for them on the side. The beef Tinga in the California burrito is delicious and my frozen mango margarita is great! Valentina was our server today and she was super sweet and prompt. Family owned authentic Mexican restaurant. The lunch buffet is finger-licking good! The margarita's will make your face melt (in a good way). The cheese dip is soooo good. Carne Asada is always my favorite. If you like Tex-mex, try the chimichanga. If you like authentic, try the Tinga or the chilaquiles! read more

Have stopped in for dinner on several occasions to this location. The food is always fresh. Their chips and salsa are very good. The California Burrito is massive just like they say but, I always get the Jr. The Jr is not as massive but, it's big! Sometimes I cannot finish it all. It was delicious with grilled chicken. You don't need any sides with this burrito. It is that big. Other family members have gotten the enchiladas and have raved about them. These two dishes are so good they are pretty much all we order each time we visit. Although, I've had their steak tostada's and they are very good too. I think pretty much anything you'd order here would be delicious. We always have food to take home. Nice portions.There is a bar section that can sometimes get very loud but, they also, have another section on the opposite side of the restaurant which is much quieter. I've never been to this place in person, but I've ordered off of DoorDash twice. Both times the food was just ok. But they managed to mess up the order both times. I ordered a veggie combo (3 items) and they only included 1. The second time I ordered bean flautas and got a big ole mouthful of chicken in the flauta. As a vegetarian that was an extremely unpleasant surprise. The online menu is extremely misleading and confusing. Maybe when you go in person, they get the orders right. But it's safe to say I'm not going in person, or ordering online again. read more

I would rate this WAY higher if they had the lunch buffet back but compared to other Mexican, the salsa is just bad. You would be better off stopping by Publix and getting canned, nasty crap you serve people you dislike. I'm a gringo and could make better salsa in the dark in my garage. Their lunch buffet is wretched for a place that has such a great menu. At noon the food was cold and bland. No Salsa Verde anywhere and the 2 sauces they had might as well have been out of a can. The service was horrible and the wait staff has the personality of wet mops. Get rid of, or improve the buffet and focus on better costumer service from a staff that at lease tries to look like they're happy to have jobs, and you might be able to save this place. read more

The food is pretty good. They have all the normal options that Mexican offers. The great thing this place has is negra modelo 32. Oz beer for $5. I come here and sit on the porch overlooking the lake and throw a few beers back. Free chips and salsa too. read more

Totally disappointed in four things - service, food, prices, and my bill. First, the service was marginal, at best. Took forever to get the check once dinner was over. Second, the enchiladas I ordered were sub-par for any Mexican restaurant. I forced down 2 out of 3, couldn't face the third. Just too poor. The prices? $6 for a Mexican beer? Are you freaking kidding me??? Then, startled that my bill came to $53, I paid by debit card. Two days later I checked my balance on line at the bank... They'd charged me $63. So what had the waiter done - maybe added a 1 in front of the $6 tip I left? Never go back there again. read more

I had the worst Mexican lunch ever at this restaurant today. It was my first and last visit. Not only did the food arrive barely warm but the whole atmosphere was bad. The servers shuffled around, no one smiled or seemed glad you were there. I was served ice tea that had no ice in it. In fact it was warm. I guess that at least meant it was brewed,. When I motioned for a server, he brought me a full glass of ice, to the brim.. No comment, no nothing....just plunk on the table. Drank down some of the warm tea so I could get ice into it. I had the chicken tamale, beef enchilada, beef burrito plate and the enchilada and burrito were exactly the same, a gummy mess of ingredients. The tamale had tough chicken pieces and something tough and chewy. Cheese was barely melted on any of the items. I boxed up the whole mess and took it out and dumped it into a waste container. It is a good thing no one asked how my food because I would not have been kind. Seeing the whole attitude of the place, I didn't even bother to ask for a manager. Not worth it as I could only imagine that experience. Didn't need any more negativity. Don't go unless it is to drink during happy hour. However, I would suggest caution on that too. read more

This was thee best Mexican food/place I've had/visited so far. The service was prompt and very friendly. My hubby and I were on this side of town visiting family and don't know the area so I went on yelp to see what type of food was around this area although I really wanted Peruvian food this place was the closest and my hubby was starving so we ended up here. I ordered the chicken fajitas and the hubby ordered the chicken combo which was 2 burritos as we were waiting they served us chips and salsa which you can trek the salsa was homemade (try the spicy)if you like it hot. When our order came to the table, my fajitas were sizzling everything was fresh and hot with lots of flavor,the portion size were HUGE definitely a bang for your buck. If you order desert ( that's if you can fit it in),I recommend the flan (I got mine without the whip cream and cherry),the flan was PERFECT, I have been looking for some really good flan which I finally found. The texture was creamy and the caramel sauce was just right! Not to mention it was also a good size piece of flan. The hubby and I shared a sangria which it had the perfect mixture of sweet with a good amount of wine in it, they were not stingy with the fruit either it had pieces of oranges,cherry and pineapple to top it off. I have to say that the hubby and I definitely enjoyed this place and will go back even though it is out of our way. Everything was Delicious and fresh. We loved our first visit to San Jose's! The service was fantastic and the food was as close to 'authentic' as we've found in Orlando. [we lived in Los Angeles until 1994--so, just saying we know great Mexican Cuisine]. We were greeted and warmly welcomed. If there could be one thing to suggest, I would say just because we fit the +50 year old crowd, that does not mean we want to be in the 'family' quiet section. We LOVE laughter, music and lively crowds. We probably should have asked to be in the 'loud' bar area of the restaurant. Aside from being in the family/older folks section, we were so IMPRESSED and loved our dinner! We'll be back....soon! Hopefully, in the younger, more exciting area. We may look older, but we think we are still in our 30s; just don't show us a mirror. Love this restaurant! Give it a try. Very bland and boring food. Ordered chicken fajitas, steak quesadilla, chicken fingers, and the queso. Nothing was great or extraordinary. The waiter was strange and didn't seem to know what to say or do. Very average. So many other better Mexican restaurants on the area to come back here. Also they advertise free kids meals on Sunday but not after 4....which we were not told. When we said that we thought they were free, the attitude was "oh well" it's not. I was able to resolve this with the manager and did receive my money back but couldn't get it in cash like I had paid with. Try someplace else before giving this a go. read more

I decided to order take out. The girl who answered the phone sounded like she wanted to fall asleep! She spoke fast as if I would understand every word she said. After getting there I noticed they charged a 3% take out charge without telling me beforehand. Total ripoff. The food was actually pretty good but it reminded me of Azteca D'Oro. Just went last night expecting a buffet which it wasn't but due to traffic issues just getting there we decided to stay anyway. We ordered the sampler appetizer and drinks and while we were deciding on what to order for the main dish our waiter kept coming back asking us if we were ready yet but hadn't bothered actually bringing anything out. He also couldn't tell us if they served any mixed drinks that did not contain tequila as that was all that was featured in the card on the table. Another waiter came by seeing that we had nothing on the table yet ( about 25-minues into our stay) when I noticed my drink sitting on the bar and so he retrieved my half melted daiquiri and my husband's tea for us. My husband then ordered a meal that had steak, shrimp and an enchilada accompanied (as most of their meals are) by rice and beans while I ordered two tamales off the a la carte menu and a side of guacamole as none of the meals really looked appetizing to me. Our sampler came out and it was mostly really good. The flautas, quesadilla, and chimichanga were super tasty but I was a bit disappointed that it only came with one tamale which I gave to my husband as I had already ordered that as my meal and the nachos were mostly lettuce with small spoonfuls of guac, sour cream and chicken with 5 or 6 soggy chips hiding underneath and so didn't actually get eaten. The chips and salsa they provided for free were also a disappointment as they seemed like either reheated store bought chips or chips that were cooked too long in too cool oil and so were dense and greasy and the salsa was very watery with a lot of spice but no substance. Once our food came out I enjoyed my tamales and the fresh guacamole but definitely preferred the green sauce over the red. My husband's steak was awesome but everything else on his plate was a disaster as the shrimp was overcooked and chewy to the point he couldn't eat it, the rice was bland, the beans were congealed and probably the most disappointing part, the enchilada, which they don't mention on the menu is only filled with unseasoned cheese and covered in an equally bland sauce tasted of nothing but the cheese inside and was heavy to the point of also being inedible. upon bringing this up to the waiter he replied "Yeah, looks like this was probably overcooked. I'll let the cook know so he doesn't mess up anyone else's food. At the tune of like 18 bucks my husband's meal was easily the most expensive part of our evening and they simply did not care that it was ruined. We paid and left leaving the leftovers behind as well as an undeserved 5 dollar tip but we will not be returning. read more
