I shopped around for a smog to get my registration renewed. Oddly, I bought the car in 2016 and DMV never requested one until this renewal. I was under the impression they no longer required smogs. I came to Yelp to find a smog place affordable and available quickly. On the call the gentleman quoted me a price and said I could come immediately. I grabbed me things and headed over fast. My smog service took less than 15 minutes. Also, while there another business partner came over to let me know they are full service with DMV needs. I would recommend this place to anyone I know and don't know. Fast and efficient service.

This was my first time at this place. I will definitely take my car here when a smog is required. Excellent service. Highly recommend. It was hard to find. Don't drive all around Costco (I did and got lost) Go towards the gas station you will see Burger King.' The smog test only' is at the back of Burger King. read more

Had the smog test on my van today, 10/24/2014, at this San Leandro place. I used a coupon from Amazon local for $28. I had called two days earlier to make an appointment, told them I had a coupon. Richard, who I talked to on the phone, said to print the coupon and bring it with me. I came in Friday afternoon, showed them the coupon. They told me $8.25 for the certificate is additional. That was normal because that is how most shops charge for the certificate - separate from the test. There was nobody else in line, so mine was done within 20 minutes! For smog tests, this is the place to go. No nonsense, get-the-work-done attitude! I'll come back to this shop for my next smog test. read more

Employees are great the owner on the other hand is not a man of his word. While I was there 2 different customers left and refused service after he tryed to charge them more than what they had agreed on. I on the other hand call on a Monday at 2 and was told to bring my car in only to find that no one was there. After a second call I was told to come back at 4, luckily I called again because there was still no one there at 4. I would not recommend doing business here the owner will do anything to bring in a customer including lie. read more

I always hated getting my car smogged. I can never tell if they are telling the truth or are they trying to get more money from me in repairs. I bought a new car so I don't have to worry about it for 5 years, but 5 years past very quickly. Now it is time for the dreadful smog. But now I have help from my friend YELP. Yelp told me about this place that has the best reviews. The only problem with this place in the reviews seemed to be the Location of finding this place. I used google maps to find it first and I drove right there( No problem). I was about to park my car and go into the office and tell them I need to smog my car. Which is the normal procedure for all auto services. The owner John saw me about to go park and he ran up to my car and said "Park it inside the Garage". I put my car in the garage and he started to do the smog. He was everything that the reviews say he is " Courteous, friendly, helpful, and most important honest". My car passed and he showed me how clean my car was running. The price was very reasonable and I will definitely come back here the next time my car needs to be smog. read more

This place is great. Reliable, great deal on groupon, and even without. I've been going for three years and my young adult son uses them as well. The former tech definitely wasn't a conversational guy, but that didn't bother me. We weren't meeting for drinks; I was there for a smog check and he did great. The tech today was friendly, informative, professional and efficient. I was SO pleased with my service. We'll go back again, every time. Thank you! read more

This place is tucked right behind the Burger King in the Davis Street San Leandro Costco parking lot. Very professional and quick service. I have gotten my car smogged at other places and HATED IT. This smog test shop is great!!!!!! The owner is very customer friendly. I have been here twice in the past two years and the service was exceptional. I took my 2002 PT Cruiser there last week for it's smog check and was told how much it would cost, but after the owner found out I had taken another car I owned there more than a year ago, he gave me the same price I paid back then, which by the way, was $10.00 less then than what he advertised because I mentioned I found his shop on YELP. Now that is good customer service! Since I own three cars, he will be doing all of them for as long as I own them. If you want good, fast service for your next smog check then take it here. Burger King restaurant is 2 minutes walking distance from his shop, so you can get a quick bite to eat and your car will be ready before you are done eating! read more

I had been putting off getting my smog test because I had to go to a "Test Only" or "Gold Shield" test station this year, which I had understood would be more expensive. I finally bit the bullet and looked on Yelp to find a good station within 10 miles of me, and noticed San Leandro Test Only got great reviews. I had called around to other stations, and although their price was $10 more than one station in Oakland, their reviews were MUCH better and consistent. John didn't disappoint. He was quick, had a waiting room, and had filed the passing report to the DMV before he came back to let me know he was done and all I needed to do was pay up. I recommend this place....just west of 880 and Burger King on Davis Rd. read more

Can someone tell me why these guys charge almost $100? There wasn't anything wrong with the service and it's quick, but other places only charge around $45 including the certificate. I feel ripped off to say the least. Did all of you guys write such raving reviews to get your ten bucks off? Understandable but come on lets not get others ripped off. read more

I don't have a regular place to take my vehicle for a smog test, so I Googled & Yelped and found this place along with a coupon for $28.75 + cert (http://www.smogtips.com/san-leandro.cfm), so plus a $10 certificate, I figured about $40 +/- SWEET! I get there and there is only one guy manning the place, so while I'm filling out the paperwork I give him the coupon, because it states to present it before service or display it on your dash. He looks at the coupon, looks at my vehicle and says "it's $10 extra for vans". I ask, "Why is it $10 extra for vans?" He looks at me and without hesitating, he answers... wait for it... "Everything is extra" - BOOM! Like that was supposed to explain everything! But instead of having to go around looking for another smog place, I decided to suck it up and just let the shiest-er have the extra $10, and it cost me $50 instead of $40. The only reason they got 2 stars, is because once he did start working on my car, it was done in just over 5 minutes. So, fast work but shady dealings at best. read more

When the car arrived, I called him and he explained exactly what to expect. Pull up in front, or park on 12th and Fruitvale, give him a ring, and he'll come out to inspect the car, then we'd go inside to finish the paperwork. All I had to do was bring the title. He forgot to mention on the phone that he charges a 3% credit/debit card fee if not using cash, but there was a sign in the office stating this so it wasn't a surprise or anything. Within minutes, he gave me 2 plates, stickers, and the registration document, and filled out all the paperwork for me, I just had to sign in two places. I took a photo of all the pages and he said I would receive everything back in the mail from the DMV. There's a $5 off with Yelp check-in and I forgot to mention it until after he already charged me, but he gave me a $5 bill back, which I immediately went and used for tacos at Tacos Sinaloa #4 across the street ($3 per taco if you're wondering). Well worth paying for a service like this rather than try to figure out everything yourself and line up at the DMV. I was probably done with my tacos by the time someone would've finished up at the DMV.

He's usually even able to accommodate me the same day which I appreciate. He's also experienced with providing notary service at hospitals without added surcharge. The ceremony ended sooner and call him in which he was ready. Confirmed the directions and 4 mins I was there. Doug greeted me and I handed him a stack of forms that I need Notarized. He is a professional, looking at them carefully and explaining in one. The forms are from New Mexico but that didnt stop him from helping and explaining throughly to me. I was looking all around for a reasonable and close Test Only Smog facility in the Alameda area. Other's are too expensive, e.g. Speedy Smog on Park St $ 80 and that's after they say they give you a $ 30 off (yeah right). Take it to San Leandro Test Only! Like the reviewer before me...service was fast, courteous, and price was only $ 60 (including certificate). Plus my wife's car needed a EVAP test, which didn't cost me extra! You also get a free retest within 30 days if you car doesn't pass smog. I'm going to be taking my vehicles there from now on and recommending my friends. You can even drop it off and go shopping at Costco while you wait (but seriously, the wait is only about 20 - 30 minutes). First time here and now its the only place I'll ever go for a smog check. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone which I believe was the manager or owner was very kind and patient, he answered all my questions and concerns. The technician was welcoming and efficiently quick. My brother told me about this place and I came here from Castro Valley even though I could have went to many other locations, I'm more than satisfied with this one. San Leandro Test only was awesome. I was in a hurry & they let me pull right into the test center. I was hardly finished with the paperwork before Erik, the tester, came into office with my pass certificate. They already notified the DMV & I was good to go n on my way.
