I shopped around for a smog to get my registration renewed. Oddly, I bought the car in 2016 and DMV never requested one until this renewal. I was under the impression they no longer required smogs. I came to Yelp to find a smog place affordable and available quickly. On the call the gentleman quoted me a price and said I could come immediately. I grabbed me things and headed over fast. My smog service took less than 15 minutes. Also, while there another business partner came over to let me know they are full service with DMV needs. I would recommend this place to anyone I know and don't know. Fast and efficient service.

This place is a total RIP OFF!!! I called for a price before I went. I have 2005 Chrysler... The owner Richard said it would cost $50. I told him I have a Yelp discount for $20 therefore it should be $30. He said the discount was already included. How could the discount be included when you did not know I had a discount in the first place. I told him no thank you and hung up. He then called me back and said he would do it for $35. I said ok and drove over there. He did the test and my car did not pass.... Because I needed a new oil dip stick. I said ok... I'll get a dipstick and come back. I was then told that when I come back for a retest it will be ANOTHER $30 BECAUSE I HAVE THE GROUPON DISCOUNT!!! I knew nothing about a GROUPON discount and you are going to try to charge me another $30???!!!! When I inquired as to why I would be charged another fee when most places give you a retest for free if you don't pass... The owner said "I am not going to discuss technicalities with you!" Do not give your money to this place.... COMPLETE RIP OFF!!! read more

This place is run by crooks. Dishonest people. When I showed up with the Smog test Groupon he tried to get me to refund it and pay direct. When I drove in my check engine light was on, evidently this will prevent the car from passing. They had to see it as I did, performed the test and of course failed the car. No discount on a 2nd test or an option to return. I got Groupon to refund the fee. These guys suck out loud. Go anywhere by here. read more

Maybe the opener was sick or slept in but no one was there at 8:30am when Yelp showed they should be open. Another guy was waiting after me too. After 10 min. I found Speedy Smog and called and there was no line. The other guy stayed because his wife bought a voucher. I went to Speedy Smog. Peace guy. read more

I called this location in the morning to see if I could get my 1988 toyota van smogged at this facility and I was told it would be no problem. I asked if I needed an appointment and the person on the phone told me, "just come in now" I drove over to the station and there were no employees inside the office/wait area, only customers. After about 10 minutes I finally saw an employee, and was told it would be a hour until they could get to me. After an hour, all the other customers have left, and they could now see me. The tech on duty then tells me that my van will take 3 hours to smog and would cost $300. I said, "ok , fine. Let's get it done". He then says he won't do it because it would take all of his time. As I am the only customer left this comes off as lazy and inconsiderate. If there would be an issue with smogging my van I should have been told BEFORE I even came to this station. I would give this place zero stars if I could, but I am forced to round up. Don't waste your time like I did. read more

This place is awesome! Yesterday I found it on Yelp and just brought my car to San Leandro Test Only to get smog this morning and I was soooooo happy! The owner was so nice talking to me on the phone with his professional business tone, so I selected his place after calling many Smog Stations. The price's reasonable and the job was great! The guy name AWIL WAS NICE ALSO, he finished my car very fast, just less than 15 minutes. IN & OUT RIGHT WAY! The entire process took an hour and a half. The tech doing the testing was a complete moron, didn't know how to use the equipment, didn't know how to use the computer. He couldn't even figure out how to enter the Vin number properly. We went in with a Groupon, but it wasn't worth the money we saved. Would gladly pay full price somewhere else to have a quicker, easier experience. read more

I went at just after 5pm today and although the man was there he said they were closed. He also says they are open 9-4 on Saturday and doesn't take appointments, so check the hours before you show. The hours are not posted. read more

I purchased a coupon from living social. I paid $29 and i was asked to pay extra $20 which was $49 in total. I could get the smog check for $35 or less in total at other places. Do not BUY livingsocial.com certificates to use this service. read more

Great value - great people! I was quoted over $70 at two separate smog check stations in Alameda so came home, checked for deals on line and found San Leandro Test Only. Best customer service and value I have had in a long time. I drove in...stayed in my car while the test took less than 10 minutes...passed...and done! And paid almost HALF of other quotes! Fast, efficient and friendly. I came a bit after lunch time with a sandwich and a movie on my tablet expecting to have to wait 20-30 minutes. Called today to schedule a smog test for my 2011 Honda Civic via a Groupon discount. The guy said sure...come on down now and we'll take care of you. I was greeted and handled right away. Maybe not as busy, but there were other cars around and workers busy. Took my car in and had it done in a very short time. I was really amaze at how professional they handle my car. I was off and running in no time. I recommend this place and they always tell you right off how much before they do the work. When the car arrived, I called him and he explained exactly what to expect. Pull up in front, or park on 12th and Fruitvale, give him a ring, and he'll come out to inspect the car, then we'd go inside to finish the paperwork. All I had to do was bring the title. He forgot to mention on the phone that he charges a 3% credit/debit card fee if not using cash, but there was a sign in the office stating this so it wasn't a surprise or anything. Within minutes, he gave me 2 plates, stickers, and the registration document, and filled out all the paperwork for me, I just had to sign in two places. I took a photo of all the pages and he said I would receive everything back in the mail from the DMV. There's a $5 off with Yelp check-in and I forgot to mention it until after he already charged me, but he gave me a $5 bill back, which I immediately went and used for tacos at Tacos Sinaloa #4 across the street ($3 per taco if you're wondering). Well worth paying for a service like this rather than try to figure out everything yourself and line up at the DMV. I was probably done with my tacos by the time someone would've finished up at the DMV.

While he knocked out my install, the owner, Jack, took care of another customer who had a quad tip alignment issue from another shop's install. It was perfected in under an hour. He's usually even able to accommodate me the same day which I appreciate. He's also experienced with providing notary service at hospitals without added surcharge. I definitely recommend his services. It costs the same as UPS but you support a small business!

Remembered Yelp and low and behold, it did not disappoint. Called Doug before going to a school ceremony to make sure he was available afterwards. The ceremony ended sooner and call him in which he was ready. Confirmed the directions and 4 mins I was there. Doug greeted me and I handed him a stack of forms that I need Notarized. He is a professional, looking at them carefully and explaining in one. The forms are from New Mexico but that didnt stop him from helping and explaining throughly to me. Doug did not rush, even pause to answered a call. He truly knows his stuff and highly recommend. Kudos to Doug!!!!!

I was looking all around for a reasonable and close Test Only Smog facility in the Alameda area. Other's are too expensive, e.g. Speedy Smog on Park St $ 80 and that's after they say they give you a $ 30 off (yeah right). Take it to San Leandro Test Only! Like the reviewer before me...service was fast, courteous, and price was only $ 60 (including certificate). Plus my wife's car needed a EVAP test, which didn't cost me extra! You also get a free retest within 30 days if you car doesn't pass smog. I'm going to be taking my vehicles there from now on and recommending my friends. You can even drop it off and go shopping at Costco while you wait (but seriously, the wait is only about 20 - 30 minutes). First time here and now its the only place I'll ever go for a smog check. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone which I believe was the manager or owner was very kind and patient, he answered all my questions and concerns. The technician was welcoming and efficiently quick. My brother told me about this place and I came here from Castro Valley even though I could have went to many other locations, I'm more than satisfied with this one. San Leandro Test only was awesome. I was in a hurry & they let me pull right into the test center. I was hardly finished with the paperwork before Erik, the tester, came into office with my pass certificate. They already notified the DMV & I was good to go n on my way.
