Phil saved my race this weekend. My throttle cable burred up, stuck and sent me off into the trees stuck wide open. I called him, and not only did he have it, he said "I believe in what your doing" and sat it out for me (for after hours pickup) and didn't charge me a dime. And the staff tell you do it yourself it's a dying art not being done no more. Coming up with all sorts of excuses. I had been going back and forth for over a week about a triumph street triple and also a CBX. We arranged a time for my brother and me to drive in from San Antonio. After we both made requests to get out of work early to do this we met up and started driving up to San Marcos. So here we are on a Saturday night fighting our way through traffic to get there before the sun sets. I am texting the owner while we are on the way up asking about how the deal would need to be closed, if it should be with him or Phil. I needed my new tires mounted and balanced onto my GL1800 wheels, which I had removed from the bike. So, I know a guy I trust who used to work on police motorcycles for Austin. I ask if he knows anything about San Marcos Motorcycles and he tells me that Phil is a stand up honest guy and he's heard good things about his work. I am a price shopper, generally, so I call the New Braunfels motorcycle shops and I'm quoted $100 at one and $150 at the other. Both need a day or two to get to them. Then I call San Marcos Motorcycle shop and I'm told $75 and if I drop them off my about 5pm, he'll have them done by 6pm. I did, and he did, and I'm quite pleased to have found a local shop I can use in the future. read more

This review is long overdue for how awesome these guys are. They took care of me and my blue Buddy all the way up until it was time to let it go. Trust is a big thing to have when dealing with anything relating to mechanics and I can honestly say in the year and a half or so I worked with them I was never disappointed in the services provided and never felt like they were trying to take advantage of my wallet. I was involved in a minor accident while on my scooter and they got me in that same day. The next couple weeks we're a huge headache dealing with insurance but Phil was nothing but helpful with working with me and them to get my scooter fixed. Our relationship ended with them giving me a very fair price for my Buddy when the time came and the saddest part is I won't get to interact with these guys anymore. 10/10 would recommend San Marcos Motorcycle to anyone with a scooter or bike, you won't be disappointed! read more

I can't say enough about this fantastic motorcycle shop and it's staff. I ordered a brand new 2021 Genuine Buddy 125cc scooter through Phillip (the owner) for my wife. It was going to be a surprise to her. He ordered it for me at a very competitive price. He even typed up an agreement that stated that I would be offered a complete refund of my deposit if the scooter did not arrive on time. Who does that ? I was impressed by his business ethics from the start. A few months later, the scooter developed a small problem with fuel (not the scooters fault). Stay away, far away. Go to a real dealership. Sold me the wrong tire for my bike, I even said it looked like it didn't fit and when I got it home, it was indeed too fat. They ordered the correct one and charged me installation for the one they sold me that did not fit as well as the replacement. Then I ordered a front tire. nobody ever called to say it was in, had to leave messages and call repeatedly. Finally found out it was there. Wait an hour and a half for them to install it. next day it was flat. So far I have removed my wheels two times, jacking it up and down to reinstall etc at at least an hour to pull and an hour to reinstall. So that's 4 hours of my labor at their $100 an hour rate is $400. I still have a flat now and am not going back, taking it to a real dealership read more

WOW is all I can say, took my wheels and tires in to get mounted and they took care of it lightening fast! I managed to lose a spacer between getting my tires back from the shop to my house and SM motorcycle searched high and low attempting to find it. Luckily I found it in my trunk! The next day they even followed up with me to see if I had located it, such great customer service! Put my bike in a while back due to fuel starvation issues. Instead they put new brake calipers. After waiting nearly 3 weeks for them to finish with my bike I Got it out and broke down immediately. They didn't offer to fix the issue at all. Then when I finally tried to take it back due to them being the only motorcycle repair shop In San Marcos, I put Phil in touch with my workforce caseworker who was going to pay for the repair. I handed Phil my phone to see my caseworkers email address and Phil proceeded to read through all of my personal emails with her right in front of me. Then he refused to fill out the paperwork to get the repair done. Philip was extremely rude about it. Probably because he saw my message to her about them not handling the problem correctly. I'd give this shop zero stars if I could solely due to Phils rude attitude about their not so great work and his extremely invasive actions. I highly advise anyone wanting work done on their Motorcycle take you business elsewhere even if it means towing the bike further. read more

Absolutely brilliant. I have a 2005 Polaris 6x6 that after repair at a Polaris Dealer had no compression power....I brought it back to the dealership and was told I need a new engine for $5k to $6k. I then brought it to a repair shop in Austin and was told the same thing. So I let it sit for 2 years. When I had the $ I brought it to San Marcos Motorcycles and asked them to install a new engine. Prior to installation they recommended that they diagnose the problem to see if it really did need a new engine..a week later they called and said they could repair it and no need for a new engine. They performed a complete overhaul and for 1/4 the price of a new engine my Polaris is working like new. I will be recommending San Marcos Motorcycles to anyone in need of a new bike or repair. It all started when I was looking for a 650 V Star classic. I contacted Phil, the owner, about one for $2K. The listing had no pics. I ask for some. The pics I got were small and one showed a mirror snapped off. I asked if he'd be barter some guns (A Glock 22, 27, and NIB 24 along with numerous accessories). Total value was over $2k. He agreed and we set a date to meet. I showed up and saw several bikes outside. None have prices posted. One of the firstwas a Sportster that had fallen on a scooter and scratched the paint because the kick stand was broken. Their Fatboy had the same problem. Most of the other bikes were equally unimpressive. A salesman argued with my friend. The twenty-something year old kid actually said, "Do you know how long I've been fixing bikes?" My friend: "Well I've been fixing bikes since I was 15 and I'm 55, so how long?!" What a dumbass. I see the bike. It's in rough shape. Fenders need paint. Plastic tubing is literally cooked from being left in the sun for years. Throttle handle sticks. Side cover melted. Mirror is still broken off. Rear turn signals badly rusted. Bike has obviously been dropped despite Phil telling me otherwise. None of this was disclosed beforehand. Phil tells me he started the bike the day before and now one of the cylinders isn't firing. I wish he told me that before I drove all the way down. If it were my shop I would have worked through the night to try to fix the problem knowing a customer was coming from out of town the next day. I didn't get a phone call and Phil didn't even replace the spark plug to troubleshoot it. Lazy! I still tried to make a deal. I produced all of my pistols, mags, ammo, and supertuck holster. A redheaded employee came along. He immediately starts super low-balling me. According to him, my unfired, NIB Glock 24 with original box, accessories and paperwork is worth $500. He says it's had 200 rounds through it when that is obvious BS. Since it's nearly impossible to tell if a gun has been fired 10 times or 1,000 times, you may wonder where his 200 number came from. "Out of his little red-haired ass" is the correct answer. He also said it was a Gen 4 despite the fact it was a Gen 3 and despite Phil challenging his "Expertise.". He told me stippling my 22 and 27 made the value go down because "They're no longer collectible" despite these not being collectible guns. The whole time his hands were shaking like he had the D.T.'s, most likely because he knew he was trying to BS me. I'm surprised he didn't ask to kick my dog and pork my wife while he was at it. His explanation for the prices was "Well, we have to sell these." ATF alert! ATF alert! You're not supposed to sell guns for a profit without an FFL! I could report these guys to the ATF for this, but I personally don't believe anyone who sells guns should need a license. If you're the type of person who hates guns and/or the Second Amendment, feel free to do so yourself, though. My friend asked how much the bike is worth. "$2,000." "What's the KBB value?" "Umm, I don't know." (Yeah, a dealer who doesn't know KBB value of his merchandise. Are you buying this? Didn't think so.) "Well look it up on your phone." "Uhh... $1,300." I still think his numbers were high on that one, even if he did eventually get the motor running. I could have offered pawn shop prices on their bike to match their pawn shop offers on my guns, but our numbers were so far apart I wasn't even going to bother. These guys could have had a Helluva deal on their hands but they got way too greedy and now they get nothing. I left pretty upset. I was lied to, had my time and money wasted, and the shaky redheaded stepchild tried to make me look like a fool in front of my friend. After buying gas, lunch, and a few beers to pay my friend back for the ride, I was out $75 with nothing to show for it but a bad attitude and a belly full of enchiladas and beer. Thankfully Trump took office the next day and my spirits were lifted by watching The Great Melting of the Snowflakes. read more

My bike had developed electrical issues on a road trip to South America and knowing my timeframe the technicians attended to my bike immediately. They rectified the problem and while doing so discovered a leak in my exhaust. Kudos to the mechanic/welder that repaired the hole and modified the bracket that caused the abrasion. Mad Skills.
