Ono delicious Chichiron! The real deal!

Passing thru Kalihi & saw their sign from King St. Had to stop & check this place out. Parking is limited& you are blessed if you can find a stall open. This place has Filipino. food to go. Desserts packaged to go mostly Filipino style. Had to try their fresh made Chicharon, in their glass show cabinet. That is the real deal! fatty meat & delicious skin roasted to perfection. Excellent ! Looks to be a popular spot in Kalihi!

Ilocano Empanadas and other Filipino dishes. Like old school plantation memories. Nice people and friendly.

I ordered dinuguan and pinakbet. The pinakbet was pretty good but I think the vegetables were cut really big. Otherwise, it was good and I would order it again. The dinuguan is a different story. The pork were tough and most were cut big like they were meant to be cooked for pork adobo. It was also very oily and didn't look like dinuguan. Where's the blood sauce? Service was good and people were friendly.

I was first introduced to San Nicolas Chicharon & Sausage by a good friend who is part Tagalog and part Ilocano. Today is my third visit. Today, I came a little too late as this was the only choice that I was willing to have. I got a 2 choice plate lunch with the Ilocano version of pinakbet & pork adobo with steamed rice. It's a good combination and their adobo is flavored well. I also got the pork rinds [chicharon]. The flavor is there but it's swimming in lots of oil. My coworker decided to take it home and she used it to make monggo soup [mung bean soup]. I'm waiting to try it ;) I also grabbed a few of their empanadas. This empanadas winnahz!!! My coworkers loved it!!! They said it's so much better than Golden Coin. The store also sells side snacks like peanuts, chips, sodas, and of course their sweet mochi desserts that I forgot to take a picture of smh lol The ladies that serves the food are super nice and friendly! The place is loud with happy customers eager to be the next in line to get their meal. There's a few parking. The entrance and exit is the same but it's a bit tight so be extra careful if you go. It's a bit pricey but worth a try. I wish they'll see the deep fried intestines ;)

A small Filipino store/eatery serving illocano based food! They also make longanisa (Filipino sausage) in house and it's THE best on the island! I love coming to grab a plate lunch every time I'm in the area, food portions are very generous and so delicious! Never disappointed when I come in. The aunties are always friendly whenever I come also. Be sure to come before 3pm because a lot of their food sells out quick!

I'm extremely disappointed with the empanada I purchased today... it was clearly old and tasted spoiled,,, the quality was unacceptable and completely inedible... I had no choice but to throw it away,,, total waste of money...NO egg, soggy and few Bits of longanisa, this should never be served to customers,,, I expected much better in terms of freshness and food safety This was my second time trying their Ilocos empanada, my first time I thought it was ok, authentic taste, but today I think they sold me an old one

Good place to get your Ilocano delicacies. Some of the desserts weren't made same day except the tupig and even then it wasn't the best.

Small store front serving Filipino food, snacks and desserts. I ordered Diniguan medium ($12), lechon, 4 empanada (4.50each) and 2 Biko($6each), Total for $64. Empanada was 1/5 didn't have much flavor or seasoning. Lechon was great 4/5 came with vinegar sauce. Biko was delicious. Still haven't tried the dinuguan yet; that will be for dinner: service was ok.

Very nondescript exterior. I would've overlooked it if I weren't headed to the shop next-door. Was pleasantly surprised to find ready to eat options. A plate with a scoop of rice and two sides came out to be $11. The pork adobo and pancit were good

    Double dinakdakan!

I used to go here all the time to get my filipino food fix. Unfortunately they closed the Kalihi…read morerestaurant and now have to make the drive out to Waipahu. If you have never been here I highly recommend you trying their filipino food. Portion size is good and worth the money but the main reason you're buying their food is cause it's winnahs. I did take out a few of their menu items. Their special for July is lechon Kawali, pancit, pork gisantes and pork adobo fried rice. It's good to get this or mixed plate with 3 choices. It allows to try more of their menu selections. While one is good 3 or 4 is much better especially if coming here for the very first time. You won't be disappointed. I called in to place my order and it would be twenty minutes which is fine cause that's how long it took me to get there. The food was hot and ready to go. I made sure my ac was off so I can enjoy a nice hot lunch. The place was crowded even at 1pm. People know good food when they eat it. Lots of parking. The lechon Kawali was good. It's nice and meaty with some nice soft fat pieces. Oh so good. Yeah if you are worried about cholesterol then this might not be for you. If not you gonna enjoy it. The pancit is good. The pork gisantes which is more commonly known as pork and peas is really good. It's like stew and you wanna mix your rice with it. If you like eggs over easy then you should have that over your gisantes. It's sooooooo good. Kinda like Loco moco except it's stew. When that yolk breaks and blends in with the gisantes hoo boy. Just really good stuff there. Then the main attraction is their pork adobo fried rice omelet. I believe they were the original restaurant that brought it out. I might be wrong but they make it just right. Every bite is so good especially when you bite into one that has fat in it. Yummy. Yeah not a good choice if you're staying away from cholesterol but if not you're gonna enjoy it. The pork adobo fried rice is not dry like some other places I've tried. Ok I admit i love filipino food. I had to get dinuguan. Chocolate meat. Another winner with rice and really good with over eggs on top of it. Nice tender succulent pieces of pork. Oh my God, it's so good. I also got Shanghai lumpia. This is da bomb. You gotta eat this one hot and fresh. If not it gets stale and soggy so I ate this first. You dip it into vinegar. I like a little heat so I add Tabasco to it. Great with beer. It's so good. I'm missing it already. Then the final dish i got was their sari sari. It's soup with mixed veggies, baby shrimp and lechon. The soup is delicious and comforting. It's great on a cold night or maybe when you're feeling sick. Better than your chicken noodle soup for sure. It's also great remedy for that hangover you got last night. Lol All in all you just gotta try it. Let me know what you got and how good it tasted. Enjoy and thank me later.

The pancit was a standout: bihon noodles perfectly stir-fried with green onions and subtle seasoning, light yet satisfying as a side that balanced the richer dishes without overwhelming. Dinuguan brought that deep, savory pork blood stew richness - tender meat in a chocolatey gravy with a vinegar kick, way better than average and not overly gamey Monggo (mung beans) was hearty and comforting, simmered smooth with malunggay or bittermelon options for that homey veggie depth - grows on you with each bite. Veggie lumpia delivered crispy perfection: fresh fillings, not greasy, and a great crunchy contrast to the stews. Generous portions at fair prices, quick service, and that lechon nearby if you want to level up next time. Solid Waipahu/Honolulu Filipino spot - will return!

My family and I were craving Filipino food and walked in hoping to get our fix. The restaurant was empty with 2 people dining in so we thought we avoided the dinner rush. Upon entering we were approached by a middle aged woman who points us to a chair and tells us "over here is fine". No greeting or acknowledgement. Even before we could get to our chair, she shouts out about 5 dishes they were out of with her back turned to us. This lady was cold and absurdly rude. We left and ended up just getting dinner from Foodland. I would've loved to have spent my money on a Filipino owned restaurant but it seemed that lady didn't want the business and never cared to help anyone that came through her restaurant. Such a very disappointing experience. I rarely drop 1 star reviews but I walked away stunned at the lack of customer service this lady displayed. Do yourself a favor and go to Elena's. They actually care about their restaurant and the people who spend their hard earned money there. I'll never be coming back. I'll also be sharing my experience so others are spared their time and money.

Too bad it didn't play out well. The boiled peanuts were always a buy when we were in the mood. A posting this morning on the doors indicates they will re-open after renovation (does not mention timetable). Social media indicated they closed down 4/14/26. Same owner? New owner? Totally different business? Would be a shame if the iconic "Fort Ruger Market" disappears. If you lived in Kaimuki or went to Kapiolani Community College, this store was an example of the mom n pop stores that used to dot many neighborhoods before the arrival of 7-11 and other convenience stores. They were a Kaimuki Institution for over 75+ years. Hope they come back in a new and better form. Posted notice seen 4/15/26. Note: 4/16/26- a kitv news broadcast indicated that the owner, connected with the Young Fish Market family, told KITV after renovation the bldg would be occupied by CU Korean store, and that they would carry some of the Ruger Mkt favorites like poke and boiled peanuts . Hope they can incorporate the Fort Ruger Market name. Too iconic to disappear.

The calamansi is tangy and spicy so you get a lot of flavor with a slow burn. The OG sauce is a classic soy garlic blend that is always satisfying.
