I wanted to eat Philipino Food. Looked up a number. of restaurant on Yelp. I decided to try Ilocos Best. I believe this is in the former location of North Star Sausage. The inside is set up the same as North Star. Food counter on the left and a number of Philipino staples on the right. We ordered Squid Adobo, Pinakbet and Dinuguan. Overall the food was ok. The adobo had a very mild adobo taste. I'm still looking for a restaurant that Uses the inards and not just pieces of pork in their dinaguan. Enjoy read more

Went hunting for Filipino empanadas, and found them at Ilocos Best (along with other goodies)! Upon pulling up to the storefront, a considerable number of customers were lined up inside waiting to order...always an encouraging sign! The store is neat, clean (I appreciate a clean floor), and well-stocked with a large assortment of packaged foods. On the left side is a long counter and deli display of fresh-cooked hot dishes, as well as fresh vegetables. The staff was very friendly, and reinforced my earlier phone call asking about empanadas (they put some aside for me). This was their 3rd batch of the morning (they just finished a large special order of 100 earlier)! Heads up - they share space in a small, congested strip mall. You'll need to make some quick turns off School St to get into the parking lot, but there are a few clearly marked spaces right in front of the of the store with good signage. read more

My husband saw this place on the yelp app so he wanted to eat Filipino food for lunch so we went to try them. It's the old North Star business on school Street where the old PNP super food market was located back in early 80's. In the small strip mall. There's is parking for its customers if not its very tight in looking for parking. They share the parking with other businesses as well. We got pinakbet, dingaguan, and squid adobo. Plus some dessert. The food was OK my husband likes dingaguan but he likes it with innards instead of pork. It was mostly with pork and blood. The squid adobo didn't taste like adobo it was mild and the pinabet was ok. We wanted the chicken papaya soup but they have it on Tuesdays only. Service was fast and the food was in hot trays ready to serve to go. Comes in plate lunch style and also containers take out too. Food was ok. read more

I went to San Nicolas to get some chicharon, but they sold out so I headed Norte to Ilocos. I knew this place as North Star. I had a lovely conversation with the owner and learned that the North Star owners sold it and retired. I love that everything pretty much stayed the same, including the employees that make their amazing food. I got my chicharon and picked up a dozen ube putoflan. I for sure plan to go back when I crave Filipino food or need some chicharon. read more

First time here and I can't believe I never knew about this place!! I love Filipino food, so this spot satisfied my cravings! You can order plate lunch or ala carte. They also have a good selection of freshly made desserts, groceries, and meat. It's basically a little market which also offers cooked foods to go. The service is great and they are very friendly. They accept credit cards. There's ample parking in the front lot. The store is clean and very well organized. I can't wait to come back! read more

Easy to find, but lot is a little busy. Owner has some stalls blocked off for customers since he said people from the neighborhood go park there and take up stalls. Crazy what people will do for parking... but I found street parking so was happy. Hungry so grabbed tons of things... - Longanisa frozen. Got the garlic vinegar, but also got the sweet one. I don't like sweet though. - Ube dessert for the office - 2 choice for Ma - Beef Stew and Pinakbet with Pancit. Everything good. - Dinuguan - container for the hubs. He's super judgey judgey and said that was a good one. - Pork Giusantes - I don't like peas so I always pluck those out. Flavors were a little mild, but the pork was soooooo tender. Never had it like that before. - Chicharron - better with the vinegar. I'm used to Chinese kine roast pork that has choke salt, so always think Filipino Chicharron needs more taste. But cooked good. Skin crispy. Fatty but not all fat. I could do without so much fat, but I know people really like that. Came out with almost $100 worth of foods. Only place I'll go to on Oahu while in town. The illoco was so fire and fresh. One illoco is pretty big, they crunch on the outside. Inside was filled with veggies and ground meat and there was an egg inside. They also gave you a vinegary sauce that paired well. The aunties were very sweet and helpful. Very professional and a small joint straight to the point. Definitely our go to. See you all soon. read more

The fried Lechon is ono and they have the best pork guisantes I have ever had and the peeps that work there are super nice

Love Max,s filipino in Restaurant in waipahu. I ate the fried pig feet and pandit noodles with rice. It,s was sooo delicious, the pig feet was crispy and sooo moist on the inside, it goes well with the pandit noodles. I,ve been back the 3 times, once a week. It,s my favorite place to get the fried pig feet. The pig feet is from a young piglet and your given the whole leg. Your getting from the thigh down to the tip of the toes. It,s just right for my roommate and myself, but can be shared with more people if you have other side dishes. The price is reasonable and then ordering, your served right away. I thought would have to wait a long time to get my order, but no very fast and friendly service. Ask for sliced lemons, and a saucer of house vinger and whole red chili peppers. Finally got to visit this new place. I grew up in Kalihi right across the street from this place. I was sad that North Star decide to close up shop and keep their other Location open, which is far away from me. I don't live in Kalihi anymore so I always try to find time to always come and visit. I heard about this new place and wanted to check it out for awhile now. Today was the day! I went in and it felt the same but cleaner. A lot of goodies as expected. Super happy to see food to make plate lunch and also chicharon! I was craving that for the longest time. I saw it and I had to get it. Not bad $16 a pound. The gentlemen which I believe may be the owner was very nice. He was speaking in Filipino. And I am super rough around the edges. I understand but don't speak. I was able to understand him. He was mentioning lognanisa and I said next time. I will definitely would love to try that next time. Also he was telling me about banana ketchup. I purchased the last bottle and the cashier was giving me a back story on why they're not able to get it to the US anymore. So sad. I love banana ketchup! All in all. The place was very nice, clean and peaceful. Workers were very nice and welcoming. I miss being around my culture specifically, and Kalihi since I don't visit as much. I highly recommend this place!
