We were tired of waiting at Brickell Honda for our car to be serviced, so we went for a stroll. About to turn back a Colombian Flag caught my eye. It was a calling. On a Saturday afternoon we entered this place craving some Colombian Food. We winded up sharing the Chicarrones con Arroz y Frijoles. The fatback was crispy yet meaty, the rice was made great and the beans were absolutely delicious. Washed it down with Postobon Manzana and polished it all off with some dulce de leche con galletas. Its a sad story as this is the last place I went with my mom 2 days before she passed away. We love this Colombian restaurant, El Sancocho is the best after my moms of course, and the Vandeja Paisa, YUMMMY! all the juices, deserts and empanadas are so good! I live in Los Angeles, so every time I visit Miami, this is the place I want to go. My husband and daughter born in the USA learned to eat Colombian and they also think this is their favorite place. Worst experience at a restaurant in years. Whoever gave this place 4 or more stars either has no tastebuds or went a certain time were it was actually good. We waited 5 awkward minutes standing to be greeted and told to sit anywhere we like. The waiter couldn't be bothered with anything, why even come to work? Service was non existent, Ive had better service at mcdonalds. The waiter told us they didn't have any stew or soup. We literally watched as another waiter brought out a bowl of soup. They did have soup and later ended up ordering. Had the San Pocho steak, it smelled disgusting and was cooked on a griddle. Had very little to no taste, the mondongo was very bland even by Colombian standards. Left feeling like I wasted money. Go somewhere else even mcdonalds at least you will save money. read more

This place is near to me and one of my favorite spots. Well it Was, now it seems like the quality of the food and service has gone completely down the drain. Went this evening with a couple of friends, one who was visiting from dallas. I had mentioned to both that the food was excellent, but from a 1-10 tonight we gave it a 4... food was ok. Meat little over cooked as I always get the bandeja paisa. To make things worse the services was HORRIBLE! Our waiter was not friend, dry, and distant.. me being in hospitality hate bad service!!! And he was somewhere else plying with his phone. We asked for another soda after waiting for him to show his face, he brings it with no ice. I mean it's only common sense to bring more ice. The service and food are great! The breakfasts are flavorful and cheap. It has a home cooking feel not like other places where food looks and tastes like it was made in a factory. You can add hot spices to your food but generally the food is seasoned but not with mild or hot chili peppers. We've been going to San poncho for years. I always get sancocho de costilla and my husband mondogo, both delicious soups. Today, the food was just ok, my soup had literally a piece of meat, a potato and a piece of yuca, that was it. The service? Terrible, we waited for 10 minutes just to order our drinks and after that we basically had to ask for everything,,,,including napkins. My husband got up a couple to times to ask for more water and so forth. We are very disappointed with San poncho....not the place we have gotten to know for years. What happened to this place? This is a little Colombian restaurant off the side of Southwest 8 street in Little Havana. The food is good but nothing mind blowing either but the price you pay is cheap so it definitely makes it worth the meal. As far as Service goes this place down right just doesn't have it. Their coffee is solid, the portion is generous, and the food is delicious. They charge an automatic 15% tip (which I always give anyway) but the waiter never bothered to ask if everything was good or bring more water. San Pocho is definitely the place when it comes to Colombian food in this area. The competition and variation in the area is huge but nothing like this place. The prices are attractive to the low budget and definitely fair for the portion. Parking is not a problem which to me, it is a plus. My experience has always been good. The people are very helpful and will try to make your visit as pleasant as possible. I know I am a pain in the A$$, LOL. I usually start my dinner adventure with their meat empanadas and cut chicharon which is always the same, fresh out the fryer. I can recommend any dish from their menu for the main course but it all depends. The bandeja paisa is great but the mix steak and chicken is just perfect and huge. I am Colombian and just returned from a trip to Colombia and craving Colombia food! My american boyfriend saw this restaurant and had been wanting to try it. He LOVES everything Colombia! Anyway, he went for lunch without me recently and couldn't stop raving about how good it was and how much he wanted to take me to try it out! We finally went this past Sunday around 3:30 p.m. I had looked up the Yelp and Tripadvisor reviews and it was a mixed bag. Unfortunately most of the negatives were about the service and that was a little disturbing. Colombians are known for being very friendly and courteous...( I know that's an over-generalization). Anyway, the place itself was a lot bigger than I expected after seeing the pics and reviews. It was very cozy and actually kind of spacious. The service was good even though it was actually pretty busy but we didn't have to wait long for our Aguila beer which was really good. Also, we ordered a beef empanada. They were out of chicken. I don't eat meat but I made an exception this day because I needed to see how good the food was :) ...The empanada was ok...it had more potato than meat...the size was good, it was a little too greasy for my taste but it was good enough. I ordered my usual once per year treat ...Carne molida con arroz, frijoles and platano maduro. Ground beef with white rice, red beans and sweet plantains. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! Plenty and yummy!
