We stopped in for lunch and purchased five different meals. Food was really salty/greasy and almost not edible. I ate less than half of mine and no one else finished theirs either (including three teenagers who don't have a discerning palate). Review for San Tan Flats This experience highlighted systemic failures, inconsistent alcohol enforcement, and unacceptably rude staff behavior. One member of our party -- a 40-year-old adult was asked for ID. That is not the issue. He inadvertently left his physical ID at home and presented a valid government-issued ID on his phone (Texas). Alcohol service was denied, which he accepted without argument. That should have been the end of it. Instead, the situation escalated due to poor judgment and inconsistent enforcement. After being denied service, he briefly tasted a beer belonging to another adult. Staff immediately chose to remove him from the premises entirely, despite the fact that: * He was the only person carded * I was not carded * My wife was not carded * Other patrons around us were not carded * No effort was made to card anyone else at the table If San Tan Flats' position is alcohol compliance, then selective enforcement is not compliance. Policies must be applied uniformly, not arbitrarily. Beyond that, the entire operational flow of this establishment is a mess. The bartenders were consistently rude, dismissive, and escalatory rather than professional. Communication was poor, and the overall system feels outdated and chaotic. Most concerning: San Tan Flats requires patrons to surrender their credit card to keep a tab open. We are in 2026. There is no justification for a system that physically holds customers' cards rather than using modern POS technology. This became especially problematic when we were told to leave. Despite being asked to exit, we were physically unable to do so because our card was being held by the establishment. We were forced to stand in line after being told to leave just to retrieve our own property. In effect, we were being removed while our payment method was held hostage by a broken system. This was not about safety. This was not about the law. This was about poor training, outdated systems, rude staff, and inconsistent policy enforcement. San Tan Flats should seriously reevaluate their staff training and operational procedures, because this experience was inefficient, unprofessional, and completely avoidable. Looking for a country outdoor BBQ place? This is it. Now we don't have places like this in Hawaii so, it was quite an experience. This place is huge. Outdoor seating near a fire pit on picnic tables. Live music, dancing are all to be had here. Order in front and they will buzz you when your order is ready. Full bar and a s'mores bar. We ordered the Filet, rib eye and next time I'll try the ribs. Wait wasn't too bad considering how busy they were. Food was prepared well. Loved my steak, it had a nice crust on the outside. I wanted a medium but it came out more of a medium well. It was still tender. Served with your choice of starch and a side of creamed corn. Everything was great. Not much service as everything except the drinks were pretty much self serve. For all the hype about this place you'd think it would be a great 5 star restaurant. We've been here 3 times and all 3 times the service was so so, the food was... inconsistent. If you enjoy rodeos, the countryside, cowboys and cowgirls this is a place to add to your adventure list. We stopped by early afternoon on a Saturday and it was not too busy with not many people outside due to the September heat but they have misters blasting so it actually felt cool on the large patio/outdoor area with plenty of shaded space to sit. Inside the restaurant it has a little shop to buy hats/shirts and they have fun decor and signs posted everywhere. We met John (a regular frequenter that has his own sign posted) and a few other regular customers that were friendly. If you want to be active there's a pool table in a separate area of the restaurant plus a stage outside. We stayed through dinner time and every table was taken, we were sitting at the bar, and it transformed into a busy place. The food portions are big with finger food options and entrees like steak and lobster. They offer Pendleton whiskey which is a favorite of Oregonians, and my Bf, but is not at many places we have explored here in AZ. We want to bring some friends here on a night with live music and do some two stepping in the future. read more

A good thing about the bands is they start playing at 7:00 PM. I always find it enjoyable and also a nice family place. I noticed a lot of little kids out dancing to the music of the band. If you are looking for a top tier country vibe- THIS is the place! The charm of this place just oozes out all over, and will put everyone in a great mood! The western decor from the lighting to the floor- inside and out- was clearly thought out. The little posted signs were fun to read as well. You can dine inside with full service, or you might want to choose the order window that allows for a more casual outdoor experience. Both look to be just as good as the other. My husband ordered the Original Hamburger. First one came out well well done. when we asked staff for a re-do, they rebutted that they don't ask customers how done they want it during season, they just serve med well. We asked that it be remade, med well, this time it came out fine, but the plate it was served on was wet, making the bun soggy. When we complained, explaining our experience, manager advised they've had many compaints against us, the patron, and asked that we do not return. In the 20 years we've been coming here since we moved here, we've been a regular customer, coming at least 2 to 3 times a month, sometimes more. No one has ever advised us of any issues with us. San Tan Flat is like taking a step into the Wild Wild West. What a vibe! We were lucky enough to be included in a rehearsal dinner private room for a wedding and we had the best time! The rustic atmosphere paired with the cowboy cuisine is truly spectacular. We had a flat iron steak, loaded baked potato and creamed corn. Everything was so delicious and our steaks were cooked perfectly which is very hard to do when cooking for a crowd! I had a blueberry mojito that was quite tasty along with some martinis. The martinis were a little weaker than I usually go for but not a huge deal. There are a ton of outdoor picnic tables & fire pits for the cooler months. What a really fun place! We went during the day so it wasn't packed, I can only imagine @ night or on the weekends! This Ruben Sammy was delicious, dripping in juice delicious. The cut fries were cooked to perfection & the tarter was superb (my hubs fav's condiment)!! People were sitting inside & outside & lots of kids playing around having a good ol' time! It was pretty warm, sunny, and dusty but still a decent atmosphere. They just need more shade. The Reuben sandwich on marble rye is amazing. Bloody Marys are top-notch also. I wish I could say I had a better culinary experience at this wonderful restaurant. The environment is perfect for a steakhouse, I love everything about the style and design. The employees are extremely nice, the t-shirts they all wear are hilarious! It seems everyone has a good sense of humor, and a general kindness. Unfortunately, the food did not meet the same level as the environment and service. The cheese curds were standard, not bad, but nothing to write home about. Where I feel they seriously lacked, was the steak filet. They advertise it as the most tender steak they have, but if that's the case I can't imagine how tough the rest of their meats are. I ordered the filet at medium rare, which is even more optimal for tenderness, but unfortunately it didn't do much to help. The steak felt tough and chewy all around, the flavors were okay, but the texture really ruined it for me. Was it a decent meal? Yes it was. Am I grateful for the experience and large plate of food I was able to eat? Yes I am. Was it worth the money, in my opinion? No it was not. I hope others have had a better experience than I, but my takeaway? For a $50 plate, I could've made a significantly better steak at home and still had money leftover. This place is amazing! My boyfriend and I made a trip here after seeing the reviews on yelp. Decided to give it a try, it did not disappoint. Food and drinks were normally priced. We had the NY steak. It was so tender and juicy, the flavor was amazing. Literally the best steak I've ever had. The sides are delicious as well. The place is half indoors/half outdoors.
