If your closet is full of "grunt style" shirts covered in guns, you'll fit right in. If you're vocal about being a "lion" not a "sheep," you'll fit right in. If your pickup truck has an "FJB" sticker on it, you'll fit right in. If "let's go Brandon" is your mantra, you'll definitely fit in. Notwithstanding the clientele, it's still a fun place for people outside of that echo chamber. Went on a Saturday afternoon and sat outside. It was pretty warm, sunny, and dusty but still a decent atmosphere. They just need more shade. The Reuben sandwich on marble rye is amazing. Bloody Marys are top-notch also. Mesquite chicken wrap was pretty mediocre, unless you're one of those people who doesn't like flavor. No table service outside so be prepared to stand in line to get your drinks and food. read more

Great time with friends here tonight. We are passing through and they recommended we meet here for dinner and catch up chat. What a great place. The cowboy theme is well done with tons of decor to enjoy. Cozy but spacious. Enjoyable environment that is lively but we could still easily chat and hear each others. Out back is a huge area open to the sky with a lot of seating. Better yet, there was like music out there. Loved hearing it inside as we were in the line sight of the opening to the back area. The flat iron steak was a good 9 oz side. So tender and well seasoned. Med-rare as requested. The cream corn was very good. Asparagus as side option was a joy for me as I love it. The ambiance for both indoor and outdoor dining is that of a western saloon. It's nice and welcoming. The only thing is, inside it gets very loud! The service was good although our server was overwhelmed the night we last came. Our experience with the food and new higher prices left us disappointed. My husband ordered the Original Hamburger. First one came out well well done. when we asked staff for a re-do, they rebutted that they don't ask customers how done they want it during season, they just serve med well. We asked that it be remade, med well, this time it came out fine, but the plate it was served on was wet, making the bun soggy. When we complained, explaining our experience, manager advised they've had many compaints against us, the patron, and asked that we do not return. In the 20 years we've been coming here since we moved here, we've been a regular customer, coming at least 2 to 3 times a month, sometimes more. No one has ever advised us of any issues with us. Amazing steak and great service. Been to all the high dollar steakhouses in the valley (Mastros, Ruth Chris, Dominick's, Shulas, etc.) and STF has the best filet out there. Great environment as well (sit inside) - try the jalapeño cheese curds to start! read more

Place used to be fun but man their staff has real attitude problems. All of them are one bitchier than the other. You think walking up with a family of 6 and wanting to eat there during their slowest months would be a good thing. Nope, from the 2nd they greet you they are pissed off to even have to speak to you. Then you call out the bitchiness and you watch her from a distance cursing you under hear breath. Lol. Ok, no problem, I'll leave and never come back. Works for me. I wish I could say I had a better culinary experience at this wonderful restaurant. The environment is perfect for a steakhouse, I love everything about the style and design. The employees are extremely nice, the t-shirts they all wear are hilarious! It seems everyone has a good sense of humor, and a general kindness. Unfortunately, the food did not meet the same level as the environment and service. The cheese curds were standard, not bad, but nothing to write home about. Where I feel they seriously lacked, was the steak filet. They advertise it as the most tender steak they have, but if that's the case I can't imagine how tough the rest of their meats are. I ordered the filet at medium rare, which is even more optimal for tenderness, but unfortunately it didn't do much to help. The steak felt tough and chewy all around, the flavors were okay, but the texture really ruined it for me. Was it a decent meal? Yes it was. Am I grateful for the experience and large plate of food I was able to eat? Yes I am. Was it worth the money, in my opinion? No it was not. I hope others have had a better experience than I, but my takeaway? For a $50 plate, I could've made a significantly better steak at home and still had money leftover. Please don't let this deter you from giving them a try, it is only my opinion, and you may end up loving them! read more

First time here and it was a little confusing to find but glad we did. Very rustic Arizona theme. Great place to take visitors and great place for locals. I had the BBQ quesadilla and my husband had a salmon salad. The portions are extremely generous and the food was excellent. We went for lunch but would like to return on the weekend for live outdoor music. Should have taken pictures but didn't . Highly recommend! read more

Fave restaurant! They have the best filet! I've been to many steak restaurants including a 3 Michelin in Paris, and San Tan Flats tops even their filet. We love the atmosphere and everything on the menu is great. The waitresses are amazing. Frankie is our go to. She always greets us with a smile and knows our order. The best thing about this place is the atmosphere and the live music. Service is okay, but could be better. If you are not there early, you are late and could be standing in line for over an hour, just to order your food. Then no one brings it out to you, when the buzzer goes off, you're your own server. Food was good, but lacking in quality.The NY steak was maybe in my top 20, not 10. Potatoes are small and the famous cream corn needs some tweaks on flavor to make it better. read more

First time at this restaurant and I was not impressed. First, the soda we received was flat, when we said something to the server he looked at as like we had 10 heads. He came back with new soda and proceeded to say, maybe the soda is different here. Really! It's fountain soda. Samuel was our waiter, our food came and he asked if we wanted anything else. I asked for mayo for my burger, which I never received. He said to me I'm sorry I forgot to bring it. Just horrible. read more

Well, it's a place that caters to specific people and there is nothing wrong with that. Waited 20 minutes in line to order any 50 more minutes for two hamburgers and fries. It wasn't really that busy, so maybe that is the norm. Looked like a lot of winter visitors enjoying the food and outdoor eating. Other than the long wait for food and a hard hamburger bun, I guess there was nothing that wanted me to give it more than 3 stars based on food or service. There were no menus to look at while standing in line to make your order. I did see one person ask for a menu and an employee gave him one, but didn't think about gathering more for the empty menus tray for everyone coming in at 11:45am for lunch, which they directed you to. This place is amazing! My boyfriend and I made a trip here after seeing the reviews on yelp. Decided to give it a try, it did not disappoint. Food and drinks were normally priced. We had the NY steak. It was so tender and juicy, the flavor was amazing. Literally the best steak I've ever had. The sides are delicious as well. The place is half indoors/half outdoors. Outdoors they have misters to keep everyone cool. Band started at 7, they played really good music and people were up dancing. 10/10 experience. read more

If you are Canadian, avoid this place at all cost. We went today and 6 of us had 2 pitchers and 1 round of shots we racked up a $250 food bill and at dinner had mentioned we were Canadian and immediately after dinner they had cut us off. They would not serve us or give us any reason as to why they stopped serving us. All 6 of us (4 late 30's and 2 late 60's) were escorted out. read more

I love this spot, beautiful views, and awesome ambience! Sitting inside is a lot of fun with all the decorations and the food is always amazing! Eating outside is a lot of fun, especially at night when they have live music and dancing! Wish they had a place like this back in Chicago. Good music, good food and my kind of people. We arrived with no reservations but found a table outside to sit at immediately. We had a party of 7. 4 adults and 3 kids. We could sit inside but was about a 20 minute wait. It was a-little confusing when ordering. There are two counters to order. Self serve by the way. One outside in the back and one inside. Once we figured that out it was all good. It was Saturday so they had live Country Music. The place was packed and everyone was having a good time. I had a full rack of ribs and a few beers. We also tried a-little bit of everything. There portions are pretty big. They also have a s'more kits for the kids so they can place marshmallows over the fire and make s'mores. Overall the food is decent and has a great atmosphere. read more

Unique experience. More of an event type place. Pick a place to sit. Grab a menu on the way by and go to the window to order your food. Huge full bar. They do allow smoking outside on the "patio" area. Got crowded outside fast and a lot of people just stood around with their drinks. So if you get a high top table you get bumped in to. Love this place! Love their food!!! Plan for time and be patient especially Fri Sat night. A long wait to order your food but you can have cocktails while you're waiting but even with a long line to order your food, it's worth it! Their grilled Rib eye is our favorite! It's also a very patriotic place!! When we were there on a Friday night, the country band at 9 pm sang the Star Spangled Banner and everyone as they should took off their cowboy hats/regular hats, everyone there stood up with their hand over their heart and sang along! Now thats a patriotic place. More places should do that!! Plus their numerous fire pits they offer little packets of Graham cracker, chocolate bar and marshmallows so you can make schmores. Just such a fun place with great food! read more

I was invited to dinner by a friend and they recommended this place. I tried the big half rack which lived up to its description of fall off the bone. These were some of the best baby back ribs I've had in a long time. My friends got the filet dinner and the smoke house burger. Great atmosphere. Would love to dine outside on the patio next time. Heard it's nice with fire pits. A 45 minute drive for me and it was worth it. read more

Great place to spend with family and friends, even kids. We came on a Friday night and it was pretty full. There was a 2 1/2 hour wait to sit inside but we were able to score a table outside. Outside is first come first serve. The environment is better outside as that is where the dance floor and band are at. The fire pits were a nice touch and the kids loved making s'mores. The food line was a long wait so be prepared. The food was good which was surprising because they are super busy and making tons of food. The drinks are reasonably priced. Overall a really fun time and can't wait to come back again! read more

Our waitress took it away. The pumpkin donuts were exceptional. My daughter liked her pumpkin pancakes, but she didn't understand why they put chives on her eggs. I told her probably because pumpkin pancakes were not on the kids menu, but we can let them know no chives next time. We were about to leave when we looked outside and they were seating a family of 6ish people. Maybe they got someone to come in? Overall, it was busy, there were some kinks... the food was alright. The place is clean and you can tell everyone is trying their best during the rush, we were just the unfortunate ones who got the domino effect of things not working out.

God bless the lovely barmaids, their kind service, and the free Guinness that an employee called Thomas bought me. He's a good bloke. However, this place is full of arrogant security guards (who throw water at the very kind barmaids) and...I hate to throw around the term "redneck," but when someone buys you three beers then asks a Marine/Afghanistan Veteran if you if you want your "a** whooped for no good reason (right in front of a "security guard" nonetheless) ," you tend to leave with a sour taste in your mouth. I received at least four to five threats that night for simply being there...as if I was acting like the most impolite and terrible human being in existence. I was basically fly-on-the-walling it most of the time and minding my own business even. Really, grown men conducting themselves in such a way to someone who proudly served their country (or any decent human being for that manner) is absolutely pathetic. Instead of simply asking me to walk on if I offended him (I have no idea how, for I was awfully kind), he threw down a threat first. Real Marines know what they are capable of, and are taught to walk away. And we do. And I did. I simply came there to socialize and have a good time, and met some decent folk, but this place is full of wannabe tough guy bikers and cowboys alike. I am never spending my hard-earned cash at this place again. For every one kind patron, there was at least 3 bad apples. To be fair, you'll find people like that at almost any bar, but the sheer amount of arrogance would have been too overwhelming for the average bear. If someone is bothering me I kindly ask them to move along or, if they do not comply, get up and leave. I'm only 24 and I know better than to go around threatening people who have done no wrong to me. If this is the kind of crowd that gathers at this place, it ain't worth going to. It's either a grown man-child in a cowboy hat, or some fake biker wearing colors he bought at the Goodwill trying to act tough. I ended up sitting by myself the majority of the time and listening to the VERY talented gentleman who was on stage because of all the attitude I received for no evidently good reason. This place seemed pretty veteran-friendly to me, as all the signs and quotes from Jefferson might imply...but in reality...it's just all about this country-western ambiance and wannabe poser "tough guys." Security should keep a better watch on the kind of folk that show up here, for there were a lot of mothers and fathers dancing with their children and having a great time- which did make me smile. When you have those types around women and children...you really need to pay better attention. However, when security is every bit as arrogant as the patrons...it REALLY leaves a bad impression on people. I think the management needs to take a good, hard look at some (definitely not all, for many were very, very nice) of their employees and how they come off towards others. Go somewhere else if you want drinks at a fair price and good company to go along with it- for you will not find it here. I've been to plenty of bars, pubs, etc and had a less-than-stellar experience at this place. I believe it's more fur coat than trousers. AKA- too much emphasis on ambiance than proper service. It's just another dive bar with more window dressing. For the record, I did not bother to try the food- but I overheard many complaints about people not receiving what they ordered, and some seemed to wait for a particularly long time and ended up getting what they didn't order in the first place. This place has the potential to be even better than it is, but maybe everyone's just become complacent to a certain point. The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is because the ladies behind the bar were total professionals and quite kind. Also, I work in the Security field for a living, Armed Guard business in particular. That's why I'm so disgusted at the lack of professionalism. My moonlight position is the EXACT job they do, and we do not tolerate those who make threats towards others. They either don't value their jobs or they just don't care unless someone throws punches, when the entire goal is to avoid those situations to begin with. read more

We used to go here all the time. We like eating dinner outside by the fire pits. Their food is okay. The last time we went here it was very busy for a Sunday night. We waited over an hour for our food. We came as a large group and there were 4 separate orders for our group. The orders were done at the same time. One of the orders had an appetizer that came out 10-15 minutes after their meal. We knew that we wouldn't get our food at the same time however another order came out over 20 minutes later and the rest of us were already done eating. That order was for 2 hamburgers and it's funny that there were other orders that had ordered after us that were also burgers and got their burgers first. Even the customers who ordered after us that got their burgers first were saying it was ridiculous and that we should say something. We understood it was a busy night but we felt like maybe they skipped the order or forgot to cook it. We asked to talk to a manager who's name is "Megan" and she was extremely defensive. She just kept saying with an attitude "Sorry, it's a busy night", "I don't know what to tell you", "what do you want me to do about it?". It didn't seem like she cared about customer service. She was basically blowing us off and not sincere about her "Sorry". It was excuse after excuse... she would say "well the numbers don't go in order" then she said "it's because you ordered well done burgers" (btw, we were never asked how we wanted our burgers cooked)... We told her that we come here often and that after the way she was handling our complaint that we might not come back and she said "i think that's best". If this is the type of person that is representing this business, then it's bad for business. If you make a mistake own up to it or sincerely apologize and try to keep your customer coming back. We asked to talk to a general manager or the owner at a later date and she refused to provide a name or a phone number and said she was the only person to talk to and that the owner doesn't deal with stuff like this. Which may be true but if she truly felt like she handled this situation appropriately then she would have no problem giving us the owner's name. The manager Megan was rude, argumentative, impatient, and indignant. After some debate she refunded us the order only per the kitchen manager's request and then asked us to leave the business. Which we were glad to do after that experience. Anyway to sum it up, the atmosphere is nice, the food is okay, the wait for food is very long on busy nights, and the Manager MEGHAN is awful!!! read more

San Tan Flat is an extremely unique western steak house in the city of Queen Creek, Arizona and has found its place as a local hang out for a multitude of people. San Tan Flat is a highly American western dressed restaurant that does a phenomenal job portraying its country theme and style to its guests with the numerous decorations in the venue, ranging from rusted looking horseshoes on the wall to the saddle seat high chairs for younger kids. Not only is it an indoor steak house to enjoy a very well-priced meal or some drinks, but it doubles as a self-serve hangout with an outdoor lounging area often containing a bonfire used for making s'mores or just warming up. This is a venue that brings more enjoyment and novelty than your ordinary steakhouse. Upon entering San Tan Flat Steakhouse, you walk to the door and find a trough doubled as a water display coupled by a set of flowers and a wooden door. As you enter you are immersed into an environment of country musical vibes and an almost sepia color of 19th century American memorabilia hanging on the walls from the ground up. It is a very warm place and the staff are nothing short of helpful or welcoming. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by the nearest servers and similarly greeted at the front stand. After a 10 minute wait in the lobby, I was seated and immediately extended another warm greeting. The waiter as extremely attentive regardless of and almost full seating area indoors and was very productive towards our satisfaction. Now past about a 20 minute time period, I have received my food and am over joyed by the aroma of their fantastic chicken strips (I know, a steakhouse and I order chicken); the dish is paired with a handful of steak fries and a cup of buffalo sauce and ranch. Upon taking my first bite of a chicken strip dipped in buffalo sauce, I am overwhelmed by the sensation of a mildly crunchy chicken strip and the kick of the perfect buffalo sauce. It is a blissful moment that I enjoyed and will always remember. The food was nothing short of amazing and the environment was nothing less than unique and vibrant. I left with more than a reasonably priced meal, but with an experience of the American south west and the heart and soul of country cooking and flavors. read more

Walking into San Tan Flat felt like stepping onto the Ponderosa set of a classic Western -- not in a gimmicky way, but in a way that instantly transports you. It has that rugged, nostalgic frontier charm that makes you feel like you've escaped into some hidden Arizona oasis. This is not just dinner. This is an experience. If you're looking for a patriotic, wildly fun night out -- date night, family night, or you just have a serious ribeye craving -- this is your place. Where else can you eat a great steak under the lights and build your own bonfire right at your table? Fire pits are everywhere, wagons are loaded with wood you toss into the flames yourself, and they even have little stations selling s'mores supplies so you can roast marshmallows after dinner. It's genius. The atmosphere was incredible -- packed with people but never overwhelming. Live music, line dancing, families everywhere, great drinks, and this huge open-air setup that somehow feels energetic and relaxed all at once. It felt like Montana met Arizona and threw a party. I loved the quirky signs and commentary all over the property, but one of my favorite touches was the bumper sticker that read, "San Tan Flat -- where woke comes to die," quoting Ron DeSantis. I laughed out loud. The place has a sense of humor and unapologetic personality. The food and service were impeccable. We had very high hopes but was extremely disappointed in this place. They make you prepay for your food and take a tip only to find out you will never be waited on by anyone. Good luck trying to get someone to guide you in the right direction if you're new. Food extremely overpriced and very sub par. We were charged $4.50 for a beer which was served in not much larger than a dixie cup. The salad bar was disgusting and surprised it passed code. Small kids running around everywhere including up on the stage every 2 minutes. The set up with open fire pits all around seems dangerous even for adults let alone small children. We were looking for an enjoyable evening and thought the unique idea might be cool as we enjoy live country music. What started off to be a fun evening quickly turned out to be miserable! All of the above could have been overlooked until I put on my glasses and took a look around. CONSERVATIVE PROPOGANDA posted everywhere you look! I mean there were signs posted on every post, every counter, every wall and even a giant one right over the stage that was particularly offensive. Unbelievable that any business owner in their right mind would intentionally alienate a such a large group of their potential patrons. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the experience my group and I had at this restaurant and bar was truly disappointing. As a 34-year-old adult, I fully understand and respect the legal requirement to show ID when ordering an alcoholic beverage. Unfortunately, I did not have mine on hand, and while I had no issue with being declined a drink, what followed was completely unacceptable. The staff's attitude was unprofessional and frankly, rude. Instead of simply addressing the situation with courtesy, several servers and bartenders chose to gossip and mock us openly behind the bar -- behavior that was clearly audible and deeply disrespectful. Being treated with such immaturity over a routine policy issue was both embarrassing and unnecessary. A business that serves the public should uphold professionalism and kindness, even in situations where rules must be enforced. I hope this feedback encourages a higher standard of customer service in the future. We will not be returning. read more

I really enjoyed coming here! I see a lot of reviews that complain about the hour long line to order food, but there is also a place to sit down and order like a regular restaurant. We started with the fried pickles.. so good. I ordered a steak with potatoes and my brother ordered a steak with the lobster tail. Overall, both were really good.. especially for the price. I don't think I have had a steak that good without paying over $50 in a long time. Only complain is the service. Our server took forever to get our drinks I actually thought she had completely left because it took so long. Then it took another 25 minutes for her to come back and ask us for our orders. I was completely starving by the time the food came out, thank god for those fried pickles. However, it also didn't ruin the overall experience of the restaurant. The little girl who took our food order had a very poor attitude and the bar staff acted like it was a chore to take a drink order and they had no one in line waiting. Coke machine was out of ice. Asked bartender for ice water and with no one in line told me I had to get ice and water at the coke machine after I told her it was out of ice. Then went back for another drink order and was ignored completely. If this is how a buisness is ran and operated, guess I can go elsewhere and also recommend others to do the same. Wow what a place ! Felt like I stepped into a Steven King book. Went for lunch and had to sit there for 15 minutes before we realized no one was serving us. Had to ask the girl at the bar what was the deal , handed me some menus and said come back and order. Ordered are food which was nothing to brag about when we got it. Waitress pointed to the soda fountain and said serve your self. Should have been a way Better place to go. We couldn't of had a better experience. The tiki decor is second to none. We had an awesome bartender who served perfect tiki drinks, which isn't easy to do. The owner Paul was there and very graciously showed us his collection of tiki artifacts and the stories behind them. Our group from Tucson all agreed that we are going to plan on monthly visits at least. I highly recommend Surf City Tiki Hut to anyone that enjoys tiki or is tiki curious.
