SOO delicious! My girlfriend got the sesame crusted salmon and I got the octopus and it was genuinely one of the most savory meals I've ever had. Our server was really nice too and the view was incredible. The price is pretty high, but it was expected.

I love this spot! This place has been around for a while and def has gotten progressively better! I probably will come in here almost every time I'm on cherry grove, at least for a drink and app quick before I head home. Their arancini and Brussels sprouts were perfect apps for me n my peeps to share... I popped in yesterday right off a nice afternoon of chillin on the beach and had a full dinner, we loved it. Picks were: Shrimp cocktail Crab and corn chowder Filet mignon Sea bass Apple crumb tart Choc. Choc. Chip cookie sandwich w choc ice cream 2 coffees and 2 aperol spritz's $205, and honestly we loved everything .. Had a great time with great views, highly recommend reservation if coming on a weekend and you want to catch the sunset. Big shout out to Travis, the bartender that we literally scream his name on the top of our lungs every time we see him (... and he's a good sport about it)... lol.

The food portion here is just sad. The photo of the poke bowl is $28. And the chicken wings are $21 for 5 wings. This is just ridiculous.

We just had one of the best nights so far this summer and it was all due to our bartender PJ who recommended dinner since tonight was the first night of their summer menu! I had the mussels which are fantastic every year and this year was no exception, meaty and delicious! My husband, however, had the sole and we both agreed, this was hands down the best sole we have ever had! The lemony buttery sauce was light and didn't over power the fish and the capers, really just perfect!! But wait, you have to try the desert!! I don't happen to like carrot cake and I almost stole my husbands entire desert, it was that good! We had an amazing night for our anniversary, good people, great food and we even got to meet the chef! Kudos!!

This was the first meal we had on the island based on the recommendation of our Airbnb host. We were the first to arrive for dinner and they let us sit at the bar until the kitchen opened. George was our bartender and he made us some perfect martinis. We liked George so much that we decided to just stay at the bar for dinner. I ordered Pad Thai which was also great. So excellent first meal on the island, probably will be back.

Fantastic option when in Cherry Grove. Make a Resy during sunset for a lovely atmosphere. Food (steak, fish and Dan Dan) and drinks are always solid and the vibe is more upscale for dinner than the daytime frozen drink crowd. It's not cheap, but it's not easy to get all the menu items to the island so you have to take that into account. We're definitely in for one dinner here each time we visit.

The food and service was top notch. Definitely go on Friday lobster night. The lobster was delicious. Sitting by a beach view table only added to the ambiance. Loved my desert -- chocolate ice cream cookie. Delicious and decadent.

I cannot stop thinking of what I overheard a few weeks ago so I have to share. A younger woman was ordering shots with her friends. Ken Braun, the manager, (who said he was the owner, lol) was bartending and asked the young lady how many shots she wanted. She said 8 but then very quickly said I apologize, 7 please. Ken had not finished pouring them and had every opportunity to take one of the shot glasses away, but he instead said "you're gonna pay for them all bitch." He wasn't being playful, his behavior was genuinely shocking and confusing. The woman was trying to apologize (she didn't owe him any apology) and he replied "you're talking and not tapping. Just tap the fucking card." When the woman paid and walked away, he said "dumb straight women." As others have mentioned below, he doesn't seem to be inclusive of anyone who is different than him. He completely defeats the purpose of being in the LGBTQIA+ community and the goal in celebrating inclusivity of ALL people. Do better. P.S, a friend told me his drinks (which he ordered the same of every time) doubled in price after he got three. No reason for that either. Just overall very unethical.

There are so many stories tied to this place, including its role in the beginnings of the Fire Island Invasion. It's one of those spots that actually means something to the community. I come to Fire Island every year with my friends, and while I've never tried the food, that's honestly not why people come here. Everyone shows up for low tea, which is basically happy hour starting at 4 PM. It starts picking up around 6, and that's when it hits. You'll see every gay from NYC who's on the island for the week, the weekend, or even just the day. The best part about tea here is that it's your first real look at who's around. It's super social and makes it easy to connect with people. If you're going with a group, lean into it and do a themed tea with coordinated outfits. Nothing is too corny or off-limits. That's part of the Fire Island tradition. They also host drag shows during the week with Bubbles, which are always a good time. And you really never know who you'll run into. Over the years I've seen Milk, Billy Porter, Andy Cohen, and a bunch of Broadway people just casually there. Of course, you have to get the punch. It's a mix of multiple liquors and juices, and somehow no one ever finishes more than one. If you do, just know you're signing up for a brutal hangover. Only downside is how packed it gets during tea. It can take a minute to get a drink, so just go in expecting a little bit of a wait.

My friend and I decided to visit the Schooner Inn to have some beverages, listen to the music and catch up. We sat at the bar, the age group was mixed and there appeared to be a group celebrating on the dance floor. We were completely ignored by the male and female bartenders. They were not overly busy but did not seem to be at all interested in waiting on us. The vibe coming from the 2 bartenders was odd and we felt very discriminated against. My friend and I stayed to observe their behaviors, we did have a couple of drinks after basically calling them over to ask for service. The female bartender actually came up to the left side of me a put 2 drinks to the left side of my arm and walked away. We couldn't figure out what their issues with us were. I'm a healthcare provider and my friend is a tenured school teacher and we found their behaviors to be completely unacceptable, rude and discriminatory. We certainly were not the youngest women in the restaurant nor the oldest. We were minding our own business and catching up. They made us feel completely uncomfortable and their attitudes were horrible. Those are the type of people that can ruin the entire evening. Because of this experience at the bar I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. The bar staff needs customer service training and attitude adjustments. I seriously don't know who those 2 bartenders think they are but if you don't want to deal with the public find another job.

We had fried banana cheesecake for dessert, which was also delicious. Our server, whose name was Regis, was friendly and prompt. 5 stars for food, ambiance, and service. 3 stars are for the awkward experience of being rushed at the end of our meal. 3 weeks in advance, we asked for a 7 PM reservation, and were given 7:15 PM, which was fine with us. On the day of our meal, the hostess, named Alfie, calls us at 6:50 PM asking us to come earlier, at 7 PM. We found this change at such short notice strange, but we obliged and did our best to get there earlier, arriving at 7:05 PM. One hour into our meal, at 8:05 PM we were ready to order dessert. We were surprised when our server Regis told us that they'll be needing our table in 15 minutes (at 8:20 PM?), and so we may have to finish our dessert at another table. We got our dessert and finished in time. When we asked Regis what the time limit was per reservation, he just said Alfie told him to relay that information to us, and Regis apologized to us for the rush. On our way out, when we asked Alfie why we were told that they "needed our table in 15 minutes" at 8:05 PM, she just gave us a scripted answer that all reservations have a 1 hr 30 minute limit. When I tried to explain that at 8:05 PM when we wanted to order dessert, we were nowhere near that time limit, whether we were going by our original 7:15 PM reservation time or at 7:05 PM when we arrived, Alfie just closed up and asked us if we wanted to talk to her manager, which we declined. She even made a rude comment asking us if this was our first time at the restaurant, and when we said we've been coming for years, she retorted "then you should know this is how it works here". She also tried to throw our server, Regis, under the bus by saying that the miscommunication was his fault. We found Alfie's behavior quite off-putting, and her lack of ability to realize her mistake, let alone hold herself accountable for it, disappointing. As was her impulse to just blame her fellow team members. All we wanted from her was an apology, which we at least got from Regis. We've never had a problem with the previous staff-member who handled reservations and seating. We understand Alfie is new and might not have been trained properly. But with this establishment charging $25 for salads, $40-60 for entrées, and $20 desserts, we expect more competent staff and to be treated with dignity. That said, we love the food here, the bay views are gorgeous, and with the limited options on the island, we'll just hope for better experiences at Top of The Bay in the future.
