We've been going to Sand on the Beach since it opened. It started out "good" and has gotten progressively better. I'm partial to the variety of salads. The beach wrap is unique. Great burgers. The menu is extensive. The brunch, which we visit each weekend, is very nice for $9.99. Omelets and waffles made to order, plus eggs, muffins, salads, and everything else you'd expect. Of course, sitting right on the sand dunes watching and listening to the waves, doesn't hurt. read more

Pretty decent food. Service SUCKS! We sat for over 20 minutes before we finally had to ask for menus. After asking, we thought they would get the hint to come take our drink orders. Nope! We had to go in and ask again if someone was going to take our order. The bartender looked at me and said "I'm sorry but as you can see we are a little busy in here, you will have to give us a minute." I've been to this place plenty of times and in comparison to prime times of being in there, no...they were not busy. Now, I had two friends who drove across the state with me to be at the beach. So yeah, we went for the view. Don't get their mixed drinks...terrible. Just go for a beer if you want a drink, they can't mess it up. read more

Was meeting some friends from out of town and decided to check this place out because it was right on the beach and seemed like a lot of fun. It sure was! The food was good, the service was attentive and friendly, and the view was fantastic. I'm upset that I don't live closer to it, as I imagine I'd be here every weekend if I was a resident. The coolest thing about Sand on the Beach is that they offer beverage service right on the beach. There's a waiter who takes orders and runs drinks. Our family visited here the first afternoon we were in town. Gorgeous view of the beach!!! The food was some of the best we had all week!!! We kept comparing everything to it. I had the shrimp tacos - delicious! Great blend of slaw, mango, and shrimp. My mom had the blackened Mahi tacos - equally as pleased. The kiddo had chicken strips and was happy with it! As everyone has said, the view is good, but other stuff needs work. The food is overpriced. Sandwiches should at least come with chips. It's not going to bankrupt the restaurant to include a side. It's ridiculous to have to pay $2 for mushy, undercooked fries. However, the burger was excellent. I don't know why you can't get happy hour downstairs. Unless you want to sit side by side, if you have more than 2 people upstairs seating isn't great. But that's the only place they offer happy hour. That's stupid. It's the same kitchen, same bar, same food. The service is horrible. It's not a big restaurant. They screwed up everything. They brought us the wrong food and constantly forgot things. People at our table sat for long periods without their drinks. That place is too expensive to have such bad service. It's simple restaurant basics. Number the tables, and the patrons. If you need to send food to be run out, just say, "take this to table 4." Servers should not be walking over and asking if a table ordered something. Also, they set food meant for another table down on our table. About 5 later they picked it up and gave it to the right table. Seriously!? Once you set food on one table, you don't come back and pick it up to give to the right table. That's so disgusting. We could have touched their food. Again, proper table numbers entered into the system when you order would solve this. Don't walk around and just ask everyone, "did you order the shrimp?" read more

We arrive here late last night for the our Airbnb that's adjacent to the restaurant (same owner), and was greeting by the owner, Martini. It was fairly late, about 10pm and he immediately pored us a couple of glasses of complimentary champagne and showed us to our room. Once we were settled we went to the bar, which was closed- but as we sat outside taking in the waves on their outside deck, the owner offered us two more complimentary drinks!! I'm hesitant to say how cute our little place was bc I want it just for us, lol. It's nothing too fancy, but it's so affordable and with just a few steps from the beach it's perfect for us. The next morning we were greeted by the coolest bartender, Judah- the food was ON POINT and he didn't skip a beat with our drinks. It's definitely "beach" life, but that's what we came for. The atmosphere is great with a phenomenal beachfront view. Food however wasn't impressive at all, but Ashley's customer service and welcoming down to earth attitude (blonde girl with a thermal piercing on her chest) made up for everything she was amazing!!! We stopped here for a drink as we were driving through town heading to south Florida. We love stopping anywhere on the beach and this place did not disappoint! All of the girls at the bar upstairs and downstairs were very nice, talkative and serving. Our glass was never empty and they had a full bar the whole time we were there. Went for lunch late afternoon with family. It was a huge disappointment. First thing was ordering and waiting forever for food to arrive. We had an appetizer that took about 40 minutes. I had a chicken sandwich without the bun; it was dry, over cooked and fries were cold. Rest of family was unhappy with the wait and food was not up to par. Manager apologized about wait and then said she should have told people there's a big wait. She did nothing to rectify the situation. Needless to say, none of us will ever go back there. read more

If you can ignore the beautiful oceanfront setting then perhaps you can enjoy the outstanding chicken quesadillas. Worlds away from ordinary, these were delish! The staffers were friendly and courteous. It's was a busy lunch day but food arrived quickly and hot as you'd expect. I think the low ratings from the other reviews were from their initial startup jitters when they opened 3 months ago. Dijon knows how to run a restuarant and no exception here. Dinned there two nights in a row. First night they lost part of the order but in general was good so we went back. Mistake! Second time was a disaster. Service was slow, food was well below par. Appetizers were served one at a time versus bring all appetizers at same time. Wasn't too bad but 15-20 min between appetizers was drawn out. Then meals were served they same way. One person's meal was brought at a time with 15 min between each person. Yes this meant that there was over an hour from when the first person and the last person was served. All orders were placed at the same time. Waitress claimed that they were having problems in kitchen and keep losing orders. No Manager in sight and no one seemed to be worried about problems. If your looking for a good view and drinks -right place. If you want to eat - have a drink here and find a different place to eat. read more

I loved it. Right on the beach and you could walk or swim while waiting for food. I loved the wings--they were smoked. The pain I had was good too. Everyone loves the food too. The location is hard to beat. It's nice to go to a restaurant with a view of the ocean. With that being said, the food was a bit bland. It wasn't excellent, but it wasn't terrible either. I've definitely had some better fish taco's in Melbourne Beach. I'd be willing to go back and try a different dish since the location is on point. read more

I am so glad we came here in spite of some of the reviews. Our food was great and our server, Keely did a wonderful job! We had a party of 4 adults and 4 kids - we had the shrimp and grits, the 3 tacos (mahi, tuna and shrimp), the fish and chips, the ahi tuna stack sandwich, the crab cake sandwich and the Sand BLT. All were great but the shrimp and grits was exceptional! Sitting right by the beach was wonderful with the ocean breeze. Definitely recommend this place! read more

This place has the great ocean view. Locals, tourists, big groups, family and kids are welcome. Go dip in the ocean and come in for a drink and bites and that's fine. We came here on Saturday for dinner with our aunt visiting from Colorado we were trying to impress her with restaurants on the beach. (Colorado is known for good food wherever you go). We had ahi sashimi it was good! We had calamari with their signature dipping sauce that I really appreciate! thank you! We also had smoked brisket sandwich, (they smoke their meat here) however it has too much bbq sweet sauce in it. This is a smoked brisket slow cook for hours and hours which means the flavor is already in the meat no need to go crazy with the sauce so I suggest you offer your costumers the sauce on the side so we can at least taste the smoked meat. we had mahi taco, shrimp taco, and tuna taco they are all fresh! But it is out of touch. Inside the taco are chopped cabbage (not shredded) mixed with ranch dressing and mayonnaise???? that's what it taste like. It has too much cabbage in a taco and a shredded sharp cheese.. Btw, When it comes to seafood tacos you do not need to put cheese!!! I suggest a chopped cucumber, cilantro, and red radish and fresh lemon juice and salt that will surely enhance the flavor and goes very well with seafood. What I tasted in my blackened mahi taco in this place? Was just cabbage and cheese. I know this is a bar food but I also know they can do better!!! So they say and I say, "yea it was okay no big deal. The staff was courteous and friendly good service. Please visit and check it out yourself. This place also serves breakfast. Food is decent but nothing to write home about. Classic bar food. The view is what you come here for. It took a while for us to get any service even though there were plenty of waitresses. It was almost like none of them wanted another table (not that the place was packed or anything). Finally someone came over to us and took us on! I ordered a lobster bisque it had shrimp crab leg meat and some ones old soggy oyster cracker from when they took their gross soup back to the kitchen and poured it back in the pot worst soup I've ever had in my life you would think that when I left a full bowl of soup you would take it off my bill but no they didn't .... the bar tender girl dropped the beer opener on the ground laughed picked it up and opened my beer with it with out washing it off and then they brought up some clean cups that were dirty with sludge ... this place needs to be on bar rescue I felt like I was on the show read more

I don't usually post reviews but our experience here was so sub-par that I feel the need to warn others before they make the same mistake we did by eating here. My boyfriend grew up here and knows the owner and his family so while visiting from the west coast we thought it would be nice to have lunch here. The location is great, right on the beach with beautiful views. That's all this place has going for it. While the servers were very pleasant, the service was incredibly slow. We ordered two drinks, a moscow mule and a margarita. The margarita tasted like pure mix and the mule was un drinkable. We had to request more ginger beer just to get it to taste ok. Not to mention that the drinks came out 5 minutes apart. We ordered the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer and it took them 45 minutes to bring it out, the restaurant was not busy. The shrimp tasted ok but the presentation left something to be desired. The Greek salad did not come with lettuce. I requested no onions or tomatoes so it was basically a bowl of cucumbers, bell peppers, a few olives, and feta cheese, for $12. The mahi sándwich was good, no complaints there. All in all we spent over $150 for crappy drinks, slow service, and food that was decent at best. read more

Went here with 10 people, all visiting from out of town. They offered to do separate checks for all of us - something that never happens in NY (or many places for that matter!) Food was delicious and arrived in a timely manner. Beautiful setting right in the beach. It is with regret, but compelled nonetheless, to express my sincere disgust with Sand On the Beach Restaurant. Both, my wife and I, visited on Friday July 20th 2018 to have some seafood. My wife ordered a Mussels (PEI) and I ordered the Mahi Cesar Salad. Once dinner was served, we were literally attacked by hundreds of flies all over our plates and table. I asked the waiter to be moved to another table. The situation did not change. Flies all over!!!! During the short time it took both of us to finish our plates, I was busy with my own napkin trying to get rid of all the flies. Barely had time to enjoy our meals. What matters most to us, is that no one seemed to care. A bartender went by, two other waitresses went by, they saw me busy trying to protect our plates from all the incredible amount of flies, and my waiter was no where around. No empathy and total indifference! When the waiter brought the check I asked if we were the only customers who have experienced this type of assault by flies. He replied that it was indeed an issue at this place and unfortunately we were not the first one. This is totally unacceptable and will file a complaint with the Department of Health. read more

The idea that Emily "stumbled upon" this place is just laughable. If you go to her reviews on UrbanSpoon, she admits that she works for Djon's Steakhouse. For those that don't know, Djon also owns this place. I don't mind someone working for a place & praising it, as long as they're upfront about who's signing their paycheck. But when they give a place 5 stars & make you think it's an unbiased opinion...well that tells me all I need to know about which restaurants to avoid. read more
