I went to Sandbar on a Friday night. When we walked in, we were greeted by the bartender (the host never showed up) after 10 minutes of waiting, and were told that we needed a reservation to sit in the dining area. We were unaware a reservation was needed. The bartender suggested sitting at the bar, so we did. After sitting, we ordered 2 sodas (mind you, they were $5 each), then an appetizer - PEI Mussels. They were very good, alittle spicy which we liked. We then ordered our main dishes - husband ordered the Sandbar salad with chicken and I ordered the Pistachio Crusted Red Snapper. My husband's chicken was very well done and dry (not good); my red snapper was good, but the risotto side was heavy and bland (not a fan). The risotto also had some raspberry purée around it...not a palatable compliment to the dish...again, not a fan. We will most likely not be going back. read more

Hello, Your staff is wonderful. I was excited to try the food, the crispy rice app was tasty and the drinks lovely. The pasta with clams had little clams and was loaded with butter. We also had the steak sandwich, which was bit tasteless and cold. The other issue is the placemats that are not flush with the table, my friend put his wine down, it was crooked due to the place mat the wine went flying across the table into the spinach app ( which got soaked) They did replace the wine but no mention of our ruined app. read more

I planned a surprise diner party for my wife after finding out they have a small private room that seats about 20 people. I worked with James who was a pleasure to deal with. Lovely place. Had the pleasure of dining her for me and my boyfriends 5 year anniversary. Cozy, food and service were excellent. I forgot our waitresses name but when she heard it was our anniversary she hooked us up with the deserts and I couldn't have been more grateful for it, definitely ended our night with a high note! Wow, what can I say. The dining room is beautiful, the servers are cheerful and very personable, the chef's are amazing. I could keep going on and on about the food. The chickpea fries are outstanding, the sriracha sauce is perfect combination of hot and sweet, it's not too spicy, not too mild, it's just perfect. Superb restaurant. Small menu yet everything you as executed perfectly. The dips were plentiful with just the appropriate amount of pita. The duck tacos were so good with fresh herbs. We had the short rib pasta for entire which was great. But the best dish of all was the pumpkin cheesecake. I could of eaten 4. Due to the record breaking heat I thought it would be a perfect day to stay inside and have a nice summer lunch at Sandbar. Our lunch took exactly 1 hour and 10 minutes to be brought to us. We were not the only ones to suffer this fate. Apparently the bridal shower luncheon overwhelmed the kitchen, staff and management and everyone in the dining room was complaining. My order didn't have to be cooked and it still took 1 hour and 10 minutes. Before coming to Sandbar make sure you ask that there are no parties as they will prioritize them over you. read more

Came here with the wife for a pre-anniversary dinner. We hadn't heard of it before but apparently many of our friends had heard great things. We basically ordered everything on the menu. Clam chowder, octopus, burrata, oysters, pasta, scallops, and a couple desserts. Have I mentioned that I'm fat? Anyway, the appetizers were all delicious, the scallops were very good and the pasta was okay. I didn't love the desserts (apple pie and chocolate brownie). Service was quality and we sat outside so I can't really comment on the restaurant. Pricing was fair for this level of cuisine. Around $200 bucks but we (I) ate for four people. i highly recommend coming here on a monday afternoon, it was so quiet and nice! it's so hard to find a great restaurant open on mondays. never been here before so i cannot attest to how busy it is on weekends but i can only assume it is. we started off with a couple drinks and a dozen oysters; amazing! for mains we had the octopus; which had delicious flavor but was a little tough unfortunately & the rack of lamb which was perfectly cooked. we ended our lunch with fig old fashioned's and the ricotta donuts. the donuts were incredible. service was amazing, wish i knew the name of our waiter! he was quick with a recommendation and the encouragement we needed for dessert lol. would absolutely come back here again even though it's a 40 min drive for us! read more

This is the worst food in the history of mankind. I ordered the steak sandwich. The bread was probably a week old and the steak was shoe leather. The French Fries were probably fried yesterday and refried tonight. Nice atmosphere, but the food really sucks! read more

What do they say .. 1st impressions are ever lasting and my our 1st impression here was AMAZING! The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a up to date feeling for this town of Huntington. We were greeted by James, host, manager, he was beyond professional along with a caring staff, who all paid attention to just about all details. Our appetizers were their chickpea fries .. very nice taste along with their pear endive salad. Both dishes were very nicely presented and they did not disappoint. We also ordered wine and each pour was better than average and my Pino was very cold! Entrées included their swordfish with asparagus ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Also ordered their lobster another HIT! The scallop dish was ordered, however, my guest dove into his dish and I couldn't get a photo. Nonetheless, the scallops were beautifully grilled and delicious. Dessert included their trio sorbet LEMON, MANGO AND RASPBERRY, very refreshing. Also order their ginger tart and again all gone .. all smiles. Our last dessert was their chocolate moose in a glass and that, once again, great presentation along with marvelous flavors. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant ran by James and staff because IT'S THE REAL DEAL. Horrible customer service from the manager and bad vibes from the other patrons. We ordered oysters when we sat down and 30 minutes later we were notified that the party in the back ate them all. The others reportedly had been tossed because they weren't fresh enough to serve. We then decided to order the cheese board, thinking it's a quick alternative since it also doesn't need to be cooked. Thirty minutes later we received the cheeseboard and found out the delay was because they were getting us fresh cheese from downstairs. As this happened, our drink glasses were not cleared from the table. Our entrees were delayed and subpar. We asked for the manager in between this and he didn't even bother to apologize but instead had a million reasons for the poor service and quality. This is supposed to be a high quality Cold Spring Harbor restaurant and it was anything but. Do not recommend. read more

We had an excellent lunch at Sandbar! Very nice outdoor dining on a sunny day, despite the cars parked right next to the restaurant. The food was outstanding. We began with oysters and the beet salad. I had the duck tacos (delicious!!) and my partner had the salmon, which she enjoyed. The wine was really quite good. Finished the meal off with a DIVINE pumpkin cheesecake and cappuccinos. The waitress and manager were very friendly -- and they gave us free Prosecco to celebrate our anniversary. Very nice ambience and service. The strawberry and pistachio salad had a delicious light balsamic-thyme vinaigrette dressing. I had ordered the fish of the day: stripe bass and it was well prepared but a bit over cooked. My friend ordered their Seared Sea Scallops - one of the best I have had. They were enormous and generous with the portion. As for the desert - I think I ordered something chocolaty but it wasn't memorable. I do recommend trying the restaurant. The ambiance is modern but reflects the area's nautical past. The drinks were delicious. Octopus was out of the world! I had the bucatini and couldn't finish my plate. "A" had the pork chops and he went for every last nibble. A true gem. For the quality, I'd imagine it to be more pricey. We will return. read more

Came to Sandbar for the first time on Valentine's Day, and we had a great experience. The atmosphere is very elegant and warm as soon as you enter the restaurant. We had a drink at the bar first, a big variety of wines, as well as a nice cocktail list. A pretty basic beer menu as well. After a drink we sat down for dinner in the dining area. It was very intimate and comfortable, we didn't feel close to the table next to us and there were only 6 tables in our area. The small area allowed our waiter to check in frequently and not forget about us. The service was great; friendly and timely. The food was very flavorful. The Valentine's Day menu was a little different than the regular menu I saw online, so it was a little more limited, but plenty to choose from. We started with the Brussel salad with apple and walnuts and a lemon vinaigrette. So refreshing and light, but very satisfying and a nice portion for the two of us. My girlfriend ordered the striped bass with little clams and brussel sprouts, and I ordered the filet mignon with mushrooms. All of the food was cooked really well and had so many great flavors. Portions were pretty big too in relativity to comparable restaurants. What was very nice and surprising was the complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and truffles for dessert. A nice touch on a great Valentine's Day dinner. Excited to come back and try the other dishes they have on regular nights. read more
