At the end of the day --the food was hot ---the food was tasty and good --the service was pleasant and relatively fast --so why not a five ? Because we could not give a 4.5. The decor was dated ---gray panel walls and old ceilings. If that stuff doesn't bother you -we would give it a five. Sometimes atmosphere does matter. A quick rip down of the panels and a coat of white paint would freshen the place up and since this is by the beach it would fit right in. Food is horrible I can't even believe I took my family to this place. The inside is so dark the food was so dry I ordered the pork chop my husband order the chicken parm. I have to say the worst food i have ate in my life!!!! The worse part I got a house salad found a bug in it I asked to speak to the owner some short bald guy came up to me drunk and very rude told me if I didn't like this food I can leave. Went for a date night 7:30 on a Sunday knowing restaurants are now eligible to stay open til 11pm, having called ahead just to be sure they were open. Walked in, saw few patrons at the bar but no one in dining area. We thought to eat at the bar, but while we waited to be seated we were repeatedly yelled at by what we thought was a tipsy patron yelling, "we're closed!". For appetizers, we got two baked clams which were good, but the international salad was legitimately a house salad with peppers and asparagus.. no added flavor. We waited almost an hour for the main course (2 lobsters and a penne all's vodka with chicken). One of the chicken pieces from the penne alla vodka actually had a piece of metal in it so we weren't charged for the pasta, but the pasta wasn't flavorful either. Service wasn't too good and they could only accommodate 5 tables and even with 8 empty tables (they turned other guests away). It was honestly a pretty ridiculous night. The place is dark, dreary, dingy, & dated. I think the last time they fixed the place up was 1970. The walls & bar area are dark wood. This is a quaint restaurant off the beaten path in Bayville. The fare is traditional seafood, with a few steak and pasta options. As this is mainly a seafood house, I have always stuck to the fish offerings. However, other people in my party have ordered non-fish items and enjoyed their meals, so go out on a limb if you like. It is worth noting that there is no water view at Twin Harbors. I know a lot of people come to Bayville for waterside dining, so if that's what you're looking for, have drinks with a water view and food here. The dining room is dated, but not in a terrible, or horrible way. The prices do seem expensive at first for the space, but once you receive your meal you will understand why. The portions here are easily enough for 2 meals. Both times I visited, I left with some food to take home. The first time, I had stuffed shrimp, which is pretty standard, but they were memorable. The crab stuffing on top was very good. The second time, I ordered some flounder prepared francaise style over a bed of spinach. Typically, I would not order such a boring fish, but I am a sucker for anything francaise style. The fish filet was nearly the size of the plate, amazing. Top notch seafood in a laid back, unpretentious setting, Twin Harbors completely fits in with the Bayville vibe. My shrimp francaise was great, but what blew me away were the oysters. Literally, the best I've had in my life. Huge, plump and juicy, I could have died and gone to heaven right then. Ate here for the first time last night. The food was quite good: I had a monk fish special with spinach, my husband had a Fisherman's Platter. Everything had a nice texture and flavor, crisp and lemony. Service was friendly and prompt and the waitress was patient and kind with our wiggly young daughter. Almost all the menu options are seafood, though they do have steak and pasta. The decor and salad dressings are definitely from a bygone-era, but that's not a criticism, just an observation. The one criticism is that the iced tea was awful, tasted dusty like they used cheap tea bags. We will certainly try it again this summer. read more

Stopped here after a day outside because of Yelp reviews. When I pulled into the lot I went to the back of my SUV to change out of my hiking shoes and a waitress came out to tell me I couldn't leave my car there to go riding. We laughed about it when I said I was coming in to eat. Anyway, the food was excellent. The oysters were amazing and I had soft shell crabs, sauteed which were also great. I was envious of the lobster that others were having which is what I had meant to get but SS crabs aren't always available and lobster is.If today wasn't Father's Day I would go back for one of those. I took home a slice of cheesecake which was very good. The dining room could use some brightening up, very dark inside. I was in front of the only windows. Definitely will come again. read more

This place is great! It has a cozy setting with dimmed lighting & nautical decor. The service is phenomenal. A blonde waitress and young busboy provided us with exceptional service leaving our water glasses full at all times. The food is phenomenal. I especially enjoyed the mussels appetizer. Our group of four, plus baby had unsuccessfully tried to find parking in Oyster Bay for the oyster festival and we were hungry and tired of being in the car. Yelp brought us to the nearby Twin Harbors, and while it wasn't a terrible experience by any means, I think Yelp missed the mark here. First, I take issue with the 2-dollar sign rating. Maybe it's comparative for Bayville, but $19.95 for fish and chips is a little steep for me. The food was okay, but I thought it would be better at that price point. I ordered the special baked clams with red pepper and mozzarella cheese, along with seafood bisque and Cesar salad. The bisque was the highlight: a lot of chunks of seafood including lobster, but the clams would have been better without the extras. My husband's fish was mediocre, but the fries were pretty tasty. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. We were one of two tables at 4:00 on a Sunday afternoon, and the bus girl only came to refill our water glasses once during our whole meal. Not cool. The waitress wasn't much better. After offering us drinks, my husband asked what they had on tap. She responded, "Nothing," and gave him a blank stare. Perhaps she could have suggested a cocktail, or let him know if they had any bottled beers, but she missed the opportunity for a larger check, as we all just stuck with our scant amounts of water. I'm actually appalled to read the ratings from other folks (presumably locals) who claim that the food here is fresh. Frankly, I don't even know where to start. First, the place is dark, dreary, and is in dire need of renovations. Some better interior lighting would really liven up the mood of this otherwise mediocre restaurant. I came here with my family, and frankly, I was so embarrassed to have brought my family here because the quality of the food is atrocious. My biggest disappointment came with the stuffed mushrooms and stuffed shrimp that I had. Both had the same exact crab meat stuffing, which was nothing more than store-bought, cheap, inferior quality crab salad that has been over-saturated with mayonnaise and carrots. For crying out loud, the restaurant is a stone's throw away from the ocean. Bayville is a seafood haven. How could you NOT have fresh crab meat on your menu? Pulling a wool over customers' eyes and telling them that their crab meat concoction is good is as sacrilegious as saying that serving Domino's pizza in an authentic Italian pizzeria in Italy is good. Aside from the atrocious crab meat stuffing, my baked potato was dry as sand and the veggies were nothing more than Green Giant straight out the package. If you can get past the expectation that comes with a very unassuming and dated establishment and thick utilitarian cafeteria-style china, you will be pleasantly surprised to find very good quality food along with charming service. We had delicious sautéed scallops and melted cheese-topped stuffed shrimp, where the stuffing was crab (or faux crab, couldn't tell) and veggies, which wasn't dominated by breading. Seasoning could have been used a little more; the food, while very satisfying and comforting, needed a little "pizazz". This is a cute little local place in the heart of Bayville. The restaurant is dimly lit with a large busy bar area. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a seaside homey restaurant. Don't expect a fine dining experience here in regards to atmosphere. The waitresses were plentiful but it seems they were in a big rush even though the restaurant was not packed. The food took too long to get to us- large gaps of time between courses. . I would say that the food was on the par of a very good diner. The portions were large and the food was very tasty I will say that some of the seafood dishes were excellent such as the steamers some of the best I had ever had and the salad which is included was very good. If your expectations are realistic you will enjoy this place but don't expect to come here and have a fine Oceanside dining experience you will leave disappointe. Love this restaurant! Freshest seafood in Bayville and the burgers are terrific as well. Best homemade seafood bisque and the salads are always fresh. Many times we go with friends who are not seafood lovers but they always enjoy their chicken and steak dinners as well. The waitresses are terrific and make the whole meal wonderful. The calamari looked like onion rings! you knew they were frozen when you saw the big rings, no head no tails! Really? The so called stuffed mushrooms and stuffed shrimp were stuffed with FAKE crab! SEA LEGS WITH MAYONNAISE! The place was dark and divey, it's really a bar that sobers up the drunks with their food. Their vegetables were bad and the baked potato dry. The two steaks were OK and the soft shelled crabs fried and breaded. I think I got the best dish which were the Fish n Chips. Not bad. The waitress was attentive and friendly and we felt bad so we left her a $40 tip. Not her fault that the food was so bad! The bus girls would just pick up plates without asking if you were done.For 5 people the bill came to $220 w/o tip with NO ALCOHOL!!! Just that food!! A great little restaurant. The food was good, large portions. Warm bread basket brought to the table once you order. Our party ordered the mussels and baked clams specials for appetizers. Both were delicious. My husband had the fish and chips and I had the stuffed shrimp. Both came with a salad and veggies of the day. We both really enjoyed our entrees. The stuffed shrimp had large pieces of crab, almost a crab salad rather then the typical bread crumb stuffing. Too full for dessert. Prices are reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get. Staff was super friendly and attentive. As for décor, I would say more nautical then dated. We definitely will be going back. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner last month - I just never got around to coming on YELP until now. The food was very good, and the prices were extremely fair. We had such a wonderful experience because of the staff. The owner actually greeted us in the parking lot. What a wonderful guy!!! We love giving our business to deserving family owned restaurants!!! A close friend took us there Friday as he remembered it being great. That was not our experience. Although the food was fresh, the two shrimp dishes were overlooked. That in itself is forgivable but he service was another experience. Although we arrived late, about 9:30 on a Friday, we asked before we sat if it was too late. We were told absolutely not and to please come in. Upon seating we noticed we were missing two place settings, we politely asked for them and the waitress came over and handed us a bunch of silverware. She could not be bothered placing them at each persons spot at the table. Upon being served she hovered and came over twice asking us if we were "still working.." Upon completion of our meal the waitress made a statement ,Ike oh you don't want desert do you? We declined. During our meal the valet brought us the car keys and said I've moved your car out front. This is a very clean place with attentive service. Prices are OK. Menu selection is fine, especially for seafood, which is what I was seeking. The pictures on Yelp are accurate. It strikes me as though it's stuck in time though. Not a knock, just a bit dated. Salads are typical, nothing creative though. Fried clams appeared to be from hard shell clams, not the usual steamer variety, so be forewarned. As a lover of fried clams, this is a big red flag but may not be a problem for others. Clams oregano were a bit over cooked so a bit chewy, they may have been previously made and frozen as they lacked that all important juicy brininess seafood lovers crave. Main dish was served with a nice baked potato, but the steamed (although very fresh) carrots and broccoli were again, unimaginative and kind of institutional. I had sautéed soft crabs. Served two, they were delicious but quite small ($25). My son's cheeseburger was pleasantly large and cooked perfectly, served with fries. read more
