14th November, 2025 was probably my 5th/ 6th time visiting this place. I have loved every game they offer and its so much fun with friends and colleagues. However, on that day, my experience took a turn and we that included 5 friends and me had to wait for 40 minutes for our game to be start with our head sets on. We kept asking for help and staff kept telling us that they are working on the game and will resume shortly. My kids picked out squid games and Alex got to explaining how everything worked. The location and equipment were clean and organized. Alex made sure my kids had an amazing experience. Came to celebrate my annivesary. Chose the Deadwood Valley, which was super fun! This experience was a blast and it was pretty long, like ~30-40 mins. Love the weapon choices. Some cons was that the price is super steep ($110 for 2 people). Furthermore, the vests were smelly from sweat and the headsets were so heavy on my head. It left a headset mark on my face. Make sure you are wearing athletic wear. read more

I've been wanting to try this out for a while, and this weekend I finally had the chance. We found the spot at the mall, but all the closest times were sadly unavailable. Fortunately, we were able to join with two others on the Deadwood Valley sim. We had the best time! I got the automatic rifle, so that was great when shooting at the zombies and creatures. The only downside is that I kept forgetting to reload. Ha! I thought that the between scenes were long and slow, but when we were in the thick of it, the game was very engaging. We were yelling and screaming the entire time. I do have to say, the zombies that climb up on your back are hella annoying. One person in our group had the hand saw, and that would have been clutch in such a situation. In the end I got MVP, so that was a pleasant surprise. I was flexing my bragging rights, but then I was called out for having an automatic weapon by my partners with handguns. I think they are just sore losers, though. Lol. The experience is a little on the expensive side, but it was worth it because we had a blast. read more

Friendly staff, novel experiences, and inviting atmosphere. - - - - - - I visited Sandbox VR with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday (!). Parking was easy, and its location at the corner of the Los Cerritos Mall made it convenient to access. All of the staff were welcoming, attentive, and informative. My favorite part of Sandbox VR was their interior design - geometrically pleasing aesthetics and its abundance of space is inviting you to come fill it. Check-in on the iPads were smooth, and we strapped ourselves into gear shortly after since we had a reservation. We tried Amber Sky; as a kiddo, I've always played video games involving projectiles and monsters... However, I've never once dreamed that I could live inside my dreams and be the character of the games. Now, I'm not the most active person, but this really brought the kid - and energy - out in me that I didn't know I had. My only disappointments were the possible lag, clarity in images (maybe astigmatism), and the props. Technology will improve with time, but the props were a small hazard. There are small sticks with balls on them on the gear you wear, and several came loose. Without visual of the "real" floor, it's easy to trip over these, and I can see this being a potential hazard. read more

I went for my Birthday yesterday and did the deadwood valley game with my wife and daughter and overall it was a fun experience but there was a few issues that could be improved. THE GOOD *Fun game * Guns are very accurate and feel good. Love the laser sights and choice of weapons. *Interactive environments. Many windows and Street lights can be shot out as well as explosive tanks. *Fans come on during helicopter scene adds a nice addition to the experience as headsets and vests get hot. *Large and clean VR rooms. Well maintained bathrooms. THE BAD *Headsets are to heavy. *Lack of staff support. My wife had problems with her headset fogging up and slipping down during the game. She raised her hand as instructed and verbally asked for help several times and still no help. Pretty sure our guy was in another room helping other people. This was a big turnoff. *No audio interaction between players via headsets/headphones. You could barely hear what your teammates are saying with headsets on. This is a big problem because you need to work together. *Crashing system glitched to load screen once during our game although it was quickly fixed. This screen also comes up in between scenes. It would be nice if they could make it more seamless as going into a menu screen really kills it. Being able to actually walk through multiple rooms would be even better. That's how is was when we did the ghostbusters game at the Void VR. read more

We have been wanting to try out SandBox, so today was the day. 1st - Customer service is A+++. The girls who work there are so friendly and very helpful. We checked in easily and got our room with ease. Everything in this area is a . Game Play- Since we have done a few VR rooms and since we own a few Oculus 2 headsets, gameplay was pretty basic. We chose Davey Jones. Maybe that was our 1st mistake. The interaction was good, but the storyline we had was boring. Just stand and shoot. It was not anything mind-blowing. The room transitions were fade to black. There were no actual rooms or tunnels or even planks to walk. Just stand and shoot. Value- so we paid 45.00 a person, and the game lasted maybe 20 to 25 minutes. You get a cute video at the end that you can keep and your scores are tallied. The private room was nice. The gear was extremely heavy for VR. We were told they would be upgrading soon. All in all, it was too expensive for the game we played. I feel like I could do it at home in my own VR. It was a 1 time for me. My daughter's liked it, but definitely rated it at 4 on our list of VR experiences. I would like to say for a date it might be fun. Maybe choose a different game other than Davey Jones!!! read more

The people who work here are always kind and easy to deal with. Make sure you book ahead it's the best way to get the time you want. Also look for their deals and when you book your next visit on the same day as your current visit you get a little discount so ask about that! One of the few options to take the kids to an indoor play place. This is located conveniently in the Cerritos Mall so parking is not a constraint. The place looked neat and the signup/checkin process is pretty straight forward. You can signup online before coming to save time or else you will end up doing the same in the ipads at their place. Few minutes before your actual booked time, you will geared up with essential accessories to experience the VR. There are so many games to choose from and we chose the Squid Games one. Honestly, I was not knowing what to expect as it is my first time. I have had worn VR glasses before and have always been unimpressed by the way they render or the overall experience etc. However, i was wrong this time in here. The moment you wear the glasses, you would see that you are transported to that world. In and around you, it feels so real (unreal) that you are in the actual squid games place. If you have seen the episodes you will feel how real it is, especially that never ending stair case room looks just gorgeous. The concept and the way the game is designed is super engaging and we had a wonderful time playing it. It is definitely worth trying and will certainly give you a sneak peak into the future on how VR/AR is going to change things completely forever. My only complaint is that it is $60 per 30 minutes per person. Well, it is expensive in my view, but I am hoping more and more VR comes into play, things will change. I did give my feedback to the person there about the fact that I feel it is expensive, he did acknowledge the same and said that it is a common feedback they are hearing and they will work on it to see what they can do. read more

We made a reservation the same day and was able to get a slot for the deadwood valley. The equipment was so nice and worked really well with catching all of our movements. The lady over the phone said we can change the reservation when we showed up on the day of the reservation. We showed up with 7 people. Once we got there, they then told us we couldn't change the reservation. We literally had to leave someone behind! I shouldn't have to pay 300+$ and get snubbed like this! read more

Went family on Black Friday to the Cerritos Mall to experience virtual reality gaming for the first time! We had booked the "Curse of Davy Jones" session and arrived about 10 minutes before our time slot. Turns out, this appeared to be a very popular family activity for the day after Thanksgiving. The staff was very friendly and had excellent tips for us on how to put on our equipment. The wristbands can be challenging so if you want to go faster, you might want to have someone help you. When we got into the room and put on the glasses, it was game on! The skeleton pirates and ghosts coming towards us seemed very real and exciting. Because there were 5 in our party, we were almost running into each other a lot but if you don't actually run, you should survive it. My wife and her sister weren't participating but were in the room watching us the whole time and having so many laughs. They couldn't see what we were seeing but it looked funny to them when at one point we saw a giantic skeleton hand about to swipe over our heads and we all ducked as if to avoid it. I would encourage anyone to try it and these guys were probably the best you could find for newbies like me. read more

I want to start off by saying WE LOVE SANDBOX VR. The Cerritos, CA location did not meet up to our past experiences with other locations we've visited. I held off on writing this review in hopes that the manager would contact us. I find myself writing this review in hopes that this location make some changes/updates to better their customer experience; this experience was subpar for my family and friends. I will start by saying that the staff are very friendly and tried their best to make things good for us. It is out of their hands when their equipment is damaged and VR equipment needs repair or replacement. It is also unfortunate that you dot provide your staff with the proper resources to make good on a bad be experience; just a card to contact the manager and they never respond. Issue 1/Sanitation- You do not properly sanitize/clean your headsets and vests. After the completion of our experience, I observed your staff turn the the equipment over to another group without sanitizing. Each Sandbox I have visited in the past, I've observed the employee spray and wipe down all equipment before beginning a new experience. Issue 2/It appeared that you don't have enough staff to cover each experience; if issues take place there is no one to pause the experience and address the issue. On more than one occasion during our experience, 2-3 of us had difficulties and stood with our hands raised to no avail. At one point, out of frustration I stood to the side and stopped participating. My headset was fuzzy and seemed as if it was skipping. This happened to others. We were told that the equipment does this and there's not hit that could really be done. Issue 3/ if you know you have failing equipment, fix it or replace it! People pay $50 a piece for a premium VR experience, it's the least you can do. Sandbox VR is a brand and thus location is not a great representation of the entertainment service you provide. 11 people paid to have a fun VR experience, 6 of us walked away feeling ripped off. After our terrible experience, we asked for a voucher to complete our experience at another time. The employee said that they are no longer allowed to compensate people in that way any longer. They explained this was taken away because too many people had to be compensated because of the same issues we experienced. Instead we were offered the managers card and a do-over BUT they couldn't guarantee that the equipment wouldn't glitch, as they have frequent issues with that particular room. The employee went onto say that they'd soon be parting ways with the location because of the frequency of situations like ours. Cerritos Sandbox VR, please get it together! We really really like Sandbox and you all are not a representation of what they advertise. Please make it better, we'd love to give you another try before our next family cruise. read more

We laughed and jumped and screamed... it was such a great first time experience. The directions were explained well. THAT... was fun :). Went here for a friend's bday. We all had a blast! The experience (Deadwood Mansion) lasted about 45 minutes in total. 10-15 minutes of orientation/setup. 30 minutes for the actual game. 30 minutes may sound short but I think it was the perfect length. For those who aren't into jump scares, you've been warned. But if you just remember to have fun (it's okay to scream), then you'll have a blast. We paid approximately $55/person (used code WELCOME10 for a 10% discount). When you book, they'll ask if you want to make it a "private experience" which means you're essentially buying out all 6 spots. My recommendation is to just book for your party even if there's fewer than 6 people. If you check the booking throughout the day and see that someone joined your group, you can just call them and ask to be moved to an earlier or later time, space permitting. One of the best things about Sandbox VR is that they give you an edited video/"trailer" of your experience almost immediately after you finish. Ours was hilarious and kept us laughing for days on end. Also, if it's someone's birthday, be sure to tell them who so that the birthday boy/girl can star in a mini-VR celebration at the end of the experience. We'll definitely be back to try Deadwood Valley and maybe even some of the other experiences. read more

This place is AMAZING!! I'm not a gamer, never did virtual anything before but decided to give this a try as I have heard so much about it. I am not one for zombies so opted for a different game that would not give me nightmares or have me screaming. Davey Jones was the game of choice and it did not disappoint! I dodged, I screamed, I laughed and had the most excellent experience thanks to Maurice Colquitt. He provided the best customer service, there were a few technical glitches but he was able to quickly troubleshoot and kept things moving. Maurice was helpful with putting on the equipment and talking me through how to use it (sword that lights up, how to reload and what to do when you are in need of life support) Also, he was helpful with reminding me how to fight off monsters/move on (kill those with fire...run and avoid being touched...light the cannons). I had the chance to try this activity with a few people and I have to say it was a fun experience. I've never used an oculus and have done anything VR so this was literally a new world. They fit you with sensors, guns, head gear and then you're off shooting hacking jumping ducking through missions. Needless to say at the end I was dripping with sweat. I came here last Saturday from Texas to hang out with some friends. One of my friends introduced me to Sandbox VR which I have never heard of but VR games seem to be the future. Overall the experience was worth while as my friends and I played the zombie shooting mode called "Deadwood Mansion". This was a super fun experience that was around 30-45 minutes long. There are sensors placed on both wrists and ankles to make sure that our characters moved similarly to our actual bodies. While the experience was pricy ($40ish), I will say that I've never had an experience like this and is worth trying out. The cool part is that part of the package deal is that they include a video with your score/accuracy and what's happening between reality and virtual. I've already shown 4-5 of my friends the video to explain what was happening which has been super helpful. read more

Came here on a Saturday with my group of friends because they wanted to experience the Virtual Reality realm. We did the Deadwood Mansion! Coming in You see a really cool "futuristic" atmosphere. Six iPads for you to check in and once you check in You put the trackers on yourself. Two for your hands and two for your legs. Afterward You walk into a room designated for the game. The put on a vest, body suit with guns. They warn you about crossing the red like, which if you cross you will hit your face. Then the game starts. In the virtual reality comes a mansion. You get to shoot zombies and mini bosses. Then comes the tank and lasers. Make sure you move or you get hit! The HP count is not there but you should have a lot of life. The experience itself is pretty accurate! What you shoot at with the laser pointed out, you normally will hit it. Overall the experience was nice but pricey! We paid a total of $42 a person for a group of 6 on the weekend! Normally it is around like $35 on the weekdays. I would recommend this experience for others who really want treat themselves and try something new! Brendan was super awesome and was nice to take multiple photos for us! Con: Had my 1st sandbox vr experience in Las Vegas a few years ago and it was amazing. Accurate detection and great frame rate, especially since I have really bad motion sickness. When I found it there was one open in Cerritos, which was closer to home, I was excited to book a session with some friends. However, this experience wasn't the same. It felt like there was a delay in movement, which made it nauseating to turn your head. We played dead wood valley which your given automatic dual wield pistols, auto rifle, and shot gun. Given the bad detection, the shotgun was to worst gun since it's fire rate and reload time are slow, and doesn't have any force. Speaking of reload time, your given an option to reload by pointing the gun up, which worked half the time. The other option was to wait for the clip to run out, but as a gamer, it's all about timing when or when not to reload. Overall, the experience was lower than average, especially if you have already experienced something better. Pro: staff was extremely friendly Ps, I swear there was no air conditioning so expect to be sweating. read more

I brought my son and his friends here for his birthday and this place was so fun and the kids loved it! I forgot to get the employees name but he wore glasses and had stretched ear plugs..He was amazing and super friendly and patient with our group! The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because the other staff member that assisted our group was very rude and impatient with us. I believe her name was Azalea, she rushed our group and what upset us the most is when the kids wanted to lift up their VR headset and headphones for a minute because they were hot and sweating and eyes hurt after finishing their first game which was an hour. She said no and to leave them on and rushed them to start the next game after the other staff said the kids were able to take a 5min breather after. She seemed very irritated with the kids and not at all friendly. I think some people should really think before working at place that requires pleasant customer service. Head gear smells of mildew and swamp water .. we did the deadwood and it was paused like 3-4 times because gear was dead, and game was malfunctioning.. please just keep in mind you're sweating in this gear, everyone who wears it is sweating because of the mid temperature control in those rooms and the physical activity you're doing.. they are not legitimately cleaning the chest piece or headgear, and no little comment is going to tell me otherwise because the stench of mildew stuck to my face even after leaving ): if you have prone skin for breakouts I advise you find a different activity, I can only imagine how profusely sweaty other ppl got in that head gear. To begin this review, I would say that it is a bit pricey for people who don't have an overwhelming amount of money to spend on extracurricular activities. For me I did get a 15% military discount so it was $85 for 2 people. The overall experience was super fun, they don't really have AC in there so it was very hot when you're moving around for 30 minutes. The headset and and all that kinda gives you motion sickness and sometimes the game makes your POV go sideways. The actual game was a zombie game where you can't really lose (I think it's better that way) I went with my girlfriend and it got pretty intense! I'm not going to spoil the game but I do recommend the two zombie games they have on stock! They also have fun little video they send via email after the whole experience is over! I went here in January because I saw it in a mall and decided to check it out. It was pricy for a glitchy, nonrealistic game. I played a pirate one and first, my left hand wasn't working. After they stopped the game and tried to fix it, my leg wasn't working and it looked like I had no leg. It was super glitchy and they had stopped the game about 3 times and it still wasn't working. This was super sad for me because I had been looking forward to this. The staff weren't that nice and they helped at the bare minimum. I had to put on itchy and quite large little bands that kept track of where my body parts went, and the trackers barely worked. I don't recommend going here. read more

SO MUCH FUN! We didn't have reservations and the guy was kinda rude about that, even though we were there on a weekday and they were dead with not even one other customer. At the end, they show you a video and pictures of yourself fighting zombies or whatever other situation you choose. That was a cherry on top. It's expensive, but a fun adventure. read more

Ladies and gentlemen, the holodeck is getting closer and closer to reality. The Sandbox VR experience is pretty immersive. Deadwood Mansion is just real enough to get your heart pumping and illicit some swear-age and just difficult enough to make you sweat if you're playing for real. I, for one, was out to shoot some aggressively dead and very angry zombie-types. The experience was great. Total time in-game ranges, I think. Round about 25min? There's some signing of waivers and gearing up before you get into the room, and then more gearing up after you enter. Nothing is super heavy, just make sure you adjust the viewer so nothing is blurry. Then some tutorials and after that, lots of shooting. If you have a phone/GoPro and want to record everyone looking bonkers, feel free to set that up too. They'll send you some of their own video via email afterwards along with your score and accuracy. Other than the price tag (they'll give you a 20% off discount if you fill out a survey after your 1st trip), I've got no complaints. read more
