Love the staff, good beer selection, ok wine selection, canned cocktails. Nice atmosphere and good mountain view and patio. Great sense of community with many from the neighborhood meeting there and welcoming to all. It had great small well crafted food menu. But the store management does not have the slightest care for its customers or community and first changed hours to open at 3 pm and cut out lunch, and has now totally cut out all food service. Seems clear they want to close it for more Amazon return room but may find many will now shop at Sprouts, Natural, and Trader Joes instead far more often with out the draw of the friendly meeting place. read more

The patio has a cool vibe to it and is a great spot to watch the Sandias turn pink during sunset, however, good luck finding a place to sit. It was packed when we got there around 6:30 on a Wednesday, and while there was a table available inside, sitting inside Whole Foods didn't give me the happy hour feels I was hoping for. They've got a large selection of beers, including a lot of local stuff, they also have wine, and a couple cocktails. I thought the food was over priced for what it was. I ordered the green chili cheese burger with the kale and Brussel sprout salad. Loved the salad, was disappointed by the burger. The burger was just patty, cheese and green chili, and although I ordered it medium it was a little dry. Ordering can be a bit of an ordeal, they had two people working the bar, only one was taking orders. Between the line being long and that same person taking orders also getting everyone's drinks it took a good deal of time to order drinks and food. Northeast heights needs more bar/patio/alcohol serving establishments. So I was excited to see how neat and different the Sandia saloon looked while shopping. We finally had a chance to try and it is a little different. You have to order at the bar/counter.they bring the food out once it's ready. Ordering took long as they only had one person behind the counter. Then only one serving so everything took a little longer. Oysters: Small but good! Very fresh. It's 4 oysters for $5 Street tacos: Off the charts. Not in picture because we got too hungry. Burger: Also very good. The truffle fries were however the main attraction. I absolutely love Sandia Saloon! Best happy hour wine choices and value ever. I love the bar tenders, they are so patient with me and always advise the best wine choices for me. I think the menu is very limited and I would appreciate a little more variety on the menu but the happy hour specials are phenomenal. Great place to visit. Not a lot of people but enjoyed the atmosphere. Someone stated the wings were dry, not! The wings were great and the bartenders were talkative. We had the hot wings with buffalo sauce, not on he hot side but very tasty. Can't beat the happy hour price, it is like Getting a drink free. We will be back really like how everything is set up. Mediocre at best. I read the reviews and see some beautiful oysters in the Yelp photos and wonder if it's the same place. I'm assured it is, but oysters aren't on the menu. I see several customers sitting in the restaurant that have brought food in from the Whole Foods they're attached to and shoot myself for not doing the same. My office does a social outing each month to a local brewery. In June we went to Sandia Saloon for the first time. They have an impressive selection of local craft beers as well as wine. They also have a good sized food menu. The patio is a wonderful area to hang out and during the day they have the misters going which help with the heat. While the food was delicious it took a really long time for them to bring anything out. The chips and salsa took 20min and there were only a handful of people there. I would definitely go back for the beer and atmosphere but probably not for food unless I had plenty of time to wait. read more

It was ok. I was there on a Wednesday around 1pm. The person behind the counter took almost 5 minutes to greet us - not a good start. She seemed bothered that we were there. I had a salad that was ok - nothing remarkable - and my dining companion had pork tacos. They looked uninspired and tasted underwhelming. It's a short menu. We hit the Whole Foods Sandia Saloon as our 3rd pub on the Sunday crawl. As always, we are always greeted with enthusiasm and a smile. We got immediate samples of the new brews on tap before making our selections. And after showing Marie the video of Kelsey catching the fish at the Seattle Pikes Market, ordered some of the fresh east coast oysters!!!! As fresh as we had in Seattle.... One of my new favorite places. Great to drink and watch football on Sunday afternoon, or great to drink (coffee) and study on any other day. Of course, you can drink any other day there too, but the football part is a big plus. The view from inside is one of the best in town of the mountain, too. I feel I'm being generous with two stars. I want to point out that that we've been here an hour, it's an extremely slow day at Whole Foods because it's a snow day. When we got to the counter it took forever for her (the single bar tender) to greet us, and honestly if she looked busy I wouldn't have minded because I understand it can be difficult to work alone. However, there were only two people at the bar who already had drinks and she was just shooting the breeze with them. There was ZERO sense of urgency. Her glacial pace of service was disturbing. We ordered drinks and she didn't make them till after she served others that got there afterwards. We told her we wanted to order food, she had us sit down, we waited.... and waited.... continued to look over and she was just telling her life story to every customer. So after waiting for 20 min just to have her take our order I just decided to go to the hot bar and grab some Mac and cheese while I waited for her. Another 10-15 min later she came over and said, "oh you should have Mac and cheese with us! It's more cost effective!" Ummmm we already waited 25 min for you to come take our order. I also want to point out that as I am writing the review, we handed her the check, she's just leaning on the bar with our check In Hand chatting it up with another customer for additional 5 min. And now as she is trying to process our card she keeps pausing to chat it up with another customer, she is having a grand old time, but y'all are seriously loosing business. I don't mind someone having a good time when you work but geeeeeeze..... everyone in the bar knows her life story and we are leaving not getting an single thing we wanted to order. Although small eating space during the winter months and being our first time there, it seems quaint but welcoming and quite full, surprisingly. Bar was full as were the tables but we luckily got the middle bar with 4 adults and a cute little child. Cheese plate is tasty as are the tacos and fries. I like this place because i can take my baby in to get a bite and a drink (for me not the baby) The food is ok.. the oysters are good. The menu is small. The drinks are flavorful. The bar tenders are nice. They have an inefficient set up as in the ice isnt near the water but that probably only bothers me. Seating is super limited especially if it is cold. Completely underwhelmed by this place. Our group of 4 had wine and appetizers the other night. We sat outside. Service is an odd mix of order for yourself at the counter and table service. We shared a cheese board which was exceptionally skimpy, 3 kinds of cheese, 4 crackers, some jam and almonds. The wings which I think we're supposed to be green chile flavored, were completely tasteless but no one cared because they were raw at the bone. The nachos were the best of the lot but that's not really saying much. I don't know if there was meat or beans on them but they were really dry and chewy. The place has a nice atmosphere and it's cool to be able to order food from in the store. Good food. And it has a nice selection of beers at decent prices. All good. The deal breaker is the act of God it takes to order another beer. There are one or two people tending bar and they are swamped, so you end up standing there with your thumb inserted, trying to make eye contact with someone who clearly knows you are there but is too busy to acknowledge you. My last beer took about 10 minutes to order while my family sat at the table, wondering where I'd disappeared to. I'm gonna try to order a beer right now. It's 3:26 pm. 3:37. Ten minutes standing at the bar looking like a tool. That's not a long time when sitting at a table but it's a very long time to stand there with a credit card in your hand, trying to get someone's attention. Table service? Get real. A bar? In a grocery store? New one on me. We decided to try it out for dinner in the hope it would make the 24 year old nephew happy and still have healthy options for the old lady (me). Pretty good on both counts. Has the feel of a smoothie bar but there is beer. I had steak tacos which were decent, if not inspired. The kiddo had a burger which he loved because it was double meat and had great fries. I had a tasty beer flight and he had a Cumbre IPA. Local beer selection, which is nice. I saw some patrons had bought food in Whole Paycheck (I mean Whole Foods) and were eating at the bar. I may do that next time as they do have a great salad bar in Whole Foods. This is one of my favorite happy hour spots. Their patio if open air with shade and they even have an indoor area to hang out if it gets too cold. I prefer darker beer and local breweries and they have a great assortment of beers on tap. My wife likes wine and she loves the Sandia Saloon too. They have a small menu, but what they have is tasty. Sandia saloon is a great place for an afternoon snack or if you are craving a cold beer. They have a great variety of local beers on tap. They have a limited menu that rotates and contains mostly snack foods.... street tacos, nachos, cheese plates, etc. Happy hour features a different deal on each menu item every day of the week. However if you're not craving anything you the menu, you can buy whatever you are craving in Whole Foods and bring it into the Sandia Saloon to enjoy with your drink! They also have cocktails and wine as well! The patio in the summer time is also great and has amazing views of the sandias. The only downfall is that space is limited and it does get busy during peak hours. read more

I notice it's not popular among many individuals up here in the heights, but I think for the small environment they have it serves a great purpose. Help these guys out and just accept that they do things differently and sometimes it's ok to not be pampered.
