OMG, our new favorite deli! (And Greek grocer!) - don't get nervous when you walk in the door, you are in the right place. The menu is on the wall on the right, and the sandwiches are amazing - and please get the lemon rice soup, it is creamy like a chicken and rice, but with a Mediterranean tang - delish! I ordered the The Sicily as a panini- the bread was too hard and there was too much dressing on the bread. It was ok- I probably won't order that again. I tried this place because of the reviews. I'll probably try it again. I ordered a beef panini for my son- again- the bread was too hard. I think the bread problem is because they toast a roll- not meant to be made as a panini. What I was not expecting was that half of the place was an authentic Mediterranean market. They had tons of staples from pastas to treats, spices to coffee all imported. DO NOT go to this place. I just went there today and will NEVER go back. I ordered the Gary Indiana sandwich with chips and pop. I took 3 bites of my sandwich and literally seen several small bugs on my sandwich and chips. I took the sandwich back to the employee and showed her so she could see for herself. I asked them what they were going to do about it, and she said "well what do you want me to do about it?" I told her I wanted a refund. She went back and asked the manager who said no refund because I took 3 bites. I will tell everyone I know to NOT eat here. read more

You know how every place has that one hater despite everybody else giving it a good review? Well I guess I'm that hater when it comes to Sandwich City. I've been here about 3 times now and have to conclude that this joint is overrated. It doesn't live up to all the 5 star reviews. I'll take a sandwich from Lincoln Carry-out's over Sandwich City anyday. Hell, I even prefer a sandwich from Subway, Jimmy John's, or Pot Belly's over this place! I'll definitely give Sandwich City an A+ for presentation, but a C- at best for taste. To me the thick cut mozzarella takes away from the taste of a lot of their sandwiches. I prefer thin sliced mozzarella. And I'm not to hip on pretzel buns either that they serve a lot of their sandwiches on. Even if their sandwiches were really good, they still wouldn't be worth the high prices. read more

I saw the good reviews for this place, and I love sandwiches. So naturally I had to check it out. The location is a little weird. My mother and I went here the other day for lunch. I got the Italian Beef and Mom got the Rueben (not the fancy names). The bread used for the Italian Beef was delicious. It tasted very fresh, and the sandwich was HUGE. The beef had some fat on it, and I wish they served the sandwich wet. The bread used for the Rueben looked good and there were nice big slices of corned beef on the sandwich. Mom said it was good but nothing spectacular. We both got the combos (chips and a drink) and our bill was $20. I think I'll give it another try. read more

I had a great experience here. I came during the heart of lunchtime, lines were medium in length (4-5) people, but moved very efficiently. My total time from walking in the door to first bite was less than 10 minutes, probably closer to 5. The menu is primarily sandwiches, although they did have a soup board, and the lemon rice soup my GF had with her sandwich tasted homemade and was hot and fresh when served. In terms of the sandwiches, they are inspired by, and named after, various cities around the world. It's a great marketing move, yes, but it also means there's a wide variety of options available that cater to a lot of tastes. For example, my girlfriend enjoyed a chicken salad sandwich with toasted almonds on wheat, while I had an Italian Beef. In between, there's hot, cold, healthy, guilty pleasure, and whole lot more sandwiches to choose from. One note for first time visitors. While the sandwiches are diverse, and they do have soups, I didn't see a ton of options for sides and the drinks come in the 12 oz. cans. Lots of meat on the Sammy, good bread, overall great tasting sandwich. Soup to me was just ok, tried the lemon rice because I heard it was supposed to be the best. This will be a regular spot! I went with the half soup and sandwich - the Vegas and lemon rice soup. The lemon rice soup was good and the sandwich was delicious. You get your moneys worth! I also went with the more expensive kettle chips on the counter. Boy am I glad I did - the jalapeno cheddar chips were probably some of the best chips I have ever had. We went during an off time so the place was empty. As a consequence the service was certainly good. The staff walked us thru the various options and were quite helpful. I had the Philly (which doesn't need to be named after a city because it is already named after a city) and my wife had something else which looked and tasted great. My philly was quite satisfying and her's was large enough that she took half of it home. Look for some off-beat combinations here and if that is not enough to satisfy you they even give the option of "build your own". We will be back. read more
