    Wow read several bad reviews about Sandys but our experience, on the other hand was good for lunch. Looks like it was newly renovated and appeared to have new owners. We were here many years ago which is the reason we decided to return. We ordered several dishes- see photos. Jess the waitress quickly took our order. The 3 empandas arrived pretty quick and were nice and hot and tasty. The rest of our took a little longer than expected but wow definitely worth the little wait. Super fresh ! My wife's entree was slightly different than mine. Steak was salty and a bit chewy but everything else was good. We had so much food that we took some home. Absolutely delicious hands down. Jess the waitress was friendly, attentive and made sure we had everything in place. Definitely recommend. Give it a shot! We came out of Sandys pleasantly plumbed !

    Decided to a local spot that had always been a neighborhood gem. The food was the same quality as before but did the job a filled me. The shrimp in garlic was great but the rice was a bit too moist. The chicken was good for my partner but did not enjoy his rice as well. We enjoyed our drinks while we chatted. The service was good here and our waitress was attentive and friendly. Not a place we would frequently visit but glad to revisit an old favorite with may locals that come to eat here as well with a full ok bar to sit at as well.

    This pork is dry and under cooked!!! I have to put it in the oven to get the skin crispy! I told the ding dong server it looked dry!! She said nothing and then tried to offer me lemons!!! Really ding dong! Now I have to eat it dry, under cooked, and sour!! Total waste of $17 dollars. She had cut it all up and that's why she did not want to offer me different pork. And it has no taste!! No garlic or anything!!!

    Good good, simple and cheap. Just what you want when you're nearby and hungry. The pernil (roast pork shoulder) was delicious. I had it with a simple salad with some avocado, and a soda. I was very full. The restaurant was clean and had fast service.

    Ordered fried boneless chicken chunks, with a side of avocado and a Coke. I was served the food immediately and service from the staff was great. The chicken chunks were cooked perfectly, white rice was good, avocado had some discoloration (still fine though) but the beans stood out from the lack of flavor. There's an expectation of red beans at a carribbean restaurant to taste like they're seasoned but these beans just tasted like mush despite having several ingredients in the sauce.

    While my friend was eating her rice and beans she chipped a tooth with a ROCK that was apparently in the rice. The owners response was to pass by the store so he could check her mouth. DURING COVID 19!!! Absolutely ridiculous. Save yourself a visit to the dentist.

    Love this place. Usually stop on my way out of the city if driving for a Cubano (cuban sandwich). They do it well.

In general, as of a few months…read moreago, the pintxos/bites are $14 to $16, the entradas/appetizers are mostly in the low or mid-$20s, and the platos/entrees are mostly in the $30s and $40s. Anyway, I was at this dimly lit Basque restaurant a while back with a small group. The place got pretty loud eventually, and the service was friendly. As we were waiting, I had some time to kill and ordered a tasty vermut. In this case, it was the Lustao Blanco for $16 on the rocks with an olive. In terms of small bites/Pintxos, someone ordered the Gildas for $14 while waiting, and another person enjoyed the similarly tiny Croquetas de Jamón for the same price point. Speaking of prices, I am unsure exactly how much everything cost, and I can't find descriptions of everything I ate, so I'm approximating, which is why you'll see the "~" before each price point. My entrada, or appetizer, was the Salmorejo de Atún for ~$25. Salmorejo is essentially a much thicker version of gazpacho, with olive oil, tomato, bread, and a few other ingredients. In this case, it was topped with plenty of raw tuna, cucumbers, and other greens. The cold soup worked surprisingly well with the high-quality fatty tuna, and I would order this again if I came back here. Another person ordered one of the appetizers as their entree, the Bikini Hemingway, which is a type of sandwich. In this case, it was ~$25 and was filled with txistorra, queso, shrimp, and pan de cristal. They seemed to like it but not love it. My main dish/plato was, unfortunately, the Magret de Pato for ~$40, with grilled magret duck breast, port and foie sauce, and pomme purée. Unfortunately, a few pieces of the duck were a little chewy, especially the ones with more fat. The sauce was alright, tasting like a slightly above-average red wine demi-glace with a touch more richness and sweetness than usual. The pomme purée was good, being rich with a nice texture. Overall, I think a bit of acid would have helped as well. This was alright, and I would have appreciated some bread to mop up the remaining sauce. Another person thought the Bacalao for ~$35, which was topped with two shrimp in this presentation, was pretty good. This place reminded me of Txikito in many ways. Both are a bit too pricey for the quality, with comparable food. For spending around $100, there are many other spots I would prefer, such as Casa Mono, El Pote, or a few others. If I were to go back, I'd probably just order appetizers. I'll leave the same score as the other restaurant, a bare 4/upper 3, and I would give a 3.5 if available.
