One of the best fish & chips dinner I've ever had, but bar is cash only (really?) So won't be going back any time soon.

OK, I drove here from the east side of Livonia on a whim for lunch one day last week after perusing the Yelp reviews. It was definitely worth it in my humble opinion. The building itself was a little hard to find. I drove by on my first pass and had to double back. Not that a little thing like getting lost was going to get between me and a afternoon burger fix! Heck, I'd even stop and as for directions if necessary! Upon walking in, I thought initially that it was rather small, but then I realized there was another whole section. I was greeted promptly by an extremely friendly waitress, who as it turned out did an excellent job of taking care of all of my culinary needs. I ordered a bacon cheddar burger with a side of fries and a side salad. The salad came immediately (I'm not sure how they got it there so fast) with lots of cheese and a half-gallon of ranch (OK, maybe I'm exaggerating a little) on the side. It was a basic side salad with no frills, but the ingredients were cold and fresh and it was very satisfying. Then came the 1/2# burger, which I swears was closer to 2/3#. The burger was cooked to perfection (medium), juicy, beefy goodness! My only complaint was that the bun had no chance of holding up against such a sloppy ginormous mess! Switch it up to a firmer kaiser roll would be my suggestion. The toppings were fresh as well, and all in all it was a very good burger (the bun being the only draw back). The fries were unfortunately just average nothing to write home about fries, which was a bit disappointing after reading the other reviews. Next time I might opt for the sweet potato fries or the onion rings just to mix it u. Did I say next time? YES, I most assuredly did! It was starting to be a bad review, simply on preparation speed. A half hour? We had to leave for our show at the Redford Theatre! So we came back after and they not only reheated our burgers (kept in the fridge for us), they added fresh veggies and new fries! The chili was wonderful (needs onions and cheese next time) and the drinks were good. They were just all-around nice and friendly. Will be back and prepared for those hand-patted burgers that are definitely worth the wait- get a beer and relax! They only take cash and checks (but there's an ATM there). read more

You would never believe it but.... Sandy's has the world's best, steak bits!! Great price, wonderful flavor, and the very best cut of beef! You have to give them a try! And, for a special bonus... ask them for the Draffen's BBQ sauce! It's not out on the table's and you have to ask for it! But, it is worth asking for!! The lights are dim, the mood is relaxed, and the place smells just fine. The price point is pretty solid and a meal wont set you back too far. I ordered the mozzarella sticks, two coney dogs w/onion, and salad. The cheese sticks arrived in great shape, do note no marinara, just cocktail sauce. Simple, old fashioned type of restaurant. Burger is big and comes with old fashioned fries, nothing fancy, just beef burger , bun and whatever toppings you choose. You won't leave hungry, but your taste buds will not be tickled read more

There isn't really any reason to come here if you can make it a little further into Livonia. The food is kind of tasteless, the beer over priced, and if you try to come by on Friday through Sunday night you are going to wait for a very long time because there just isn't much else in Redford. Seriously, if there were a decent variety of options in Redford that weren't coney's this place would be relegated to the dust bin. I was just there and chicken strips and two draft beers were 18.50. Really steep for what I received. This isn't the first time I've been there since I can walk there almost as fast as I can drive and park, but it just doesn't get better, the service is always slow, the food so so, and you pay a lot for what you get. I would suggest that you take a little time and find some place else to enjoy a meal. read more

Good burgers and each table has a tray of condiments, so you can OD on onions and mustard if you so desire. Sandy's is a clean, comfortable, friendly, neighborhood bar. They have keno, state lottery, multiple televisions, and outdoor seating. The food there is amazing. The burgers are phenomenal, always juicy and cooked just right. I have tried several menu items and have not ever been disappointed. This is a safe, friendly place that you can even take your kids to for lunch. I've never been in at night, but have been many times for lunch or early dinner and it's not your typical bar atmosphere at all. Just FYI, they are cash only. There burgers take time, it says it on the menu. But they are worth the wait, the waitress we had was very friendly, spoke fast and move even faster. They have good beers on tap, and great pub food. The beer tips looked amazing, I'll have to try them the next time I go. 3 of us went and we where able to walk out of there for about 30, with a good tip. It's a fun place to go once and a while. Bring a group and relax, talk for a minute while you wait for your food. It has a good atmosphere, so relax and enjoy yourself. read more

Very nice local "family bar". Very kid friendly during the day. The best thing about this bar/restaurant is that every Saturday and Sunday you can get coneys for 50 cents. Not very vegetarian friendly but they have good old grilled cheese and fries. Other items can be kind of pricey (for a local bar) depending on what you get. Also beware this establishment does not accept credit cards so make sure you bring cash. Overall not a bad place to meet with friends for lunch or take your family for some coneys. read more

First. They NEVER ANSWER THEIR PHONE. What kind of business operates this way? If you are that busy, add to your staff. Answering the phone to take a carry out order is no different than taking an order from someone walking in. Second, they messed up my order so MANY TIMES NOW! Simple orders, Burger w/ Cheese and lettuce only (get it with no cheese). Fish sandwich w/ Cheese and lettuce only (get it with nothing, just fish on a bun). Their burgers are delicious. The sweet potatoe fries are amazing. Their staff are all older rude women that don't care about the customer once so ever. It's a shame they don't have better management. read more

Bar food fans start your in for a treat. Sandy's is the best place in Redford for good bar food. This is evident by the crowd size daily.

Sandy's was one of our local bar tour stops. As far as food goes, this place was the best. Decent menu and prices, with a clean look inside. However, this place should be considered more of a restaurant than a bar. No pool tables. No cool dive bar atmosphere. A place to eat, before you go out to the other local bars to party. Help was efficient and friendly, service was fast, and food was tasty. We'll come back for eats, but won't be hanging around after the meal is over. read more

I've been going to Sandys with my family since I was a baby. Not only is the food above average, but the waitstaff makes you feel like family. Not only is this a great place to watch Sports and have some fun but the staff is AWESOME! I'm excited to write this review as it's not often that I get to write such a stellar review. I recently moved to Michigan and am always looking for great local places. The food is good and atmosphere at the restaurant makes anyone feel welcome. The restaurant only takes case, and while there, I happened to loose my money which fell out of my pocket. What impressed me most was the honesty of the staff. They didn't hesitate to pick it up and let me know they found it. I highly doubt that this would happen in many restaurants but it just goes to show you that in today's world there are still good people. read more

Where do I begin with sandy's? It's kinda interesting looking inside, especially the back room, but the main bar area and outside patio really make up for it. Great food at fair prices, only issue I have with the place is that the city of Redford took away their pickle tubs :( but they will still give them to you on the side, just don't forget to ask. We have gone to Sandy's bar since she opened. It is very popular and often busy. The staff is friendly and familiar. The food is pretty good. Not fantastic but very reliable. They do make an excellent burger and Steak Bites. However the draft beer is horrible! And I'm being fair. I have waited to post this until going back, recently, a few times. I have also asked the staff if they get any complaints to which I'm told , none! This is hard to believe because there has been some kind of problem there with their draft beer for months. I'm sorry they don't realize it but my friends probably won't go back. For reference Sandy's, we had Two Hearted Ale... twice in December, which is not right! There is something going on, in the lines probably, that completely alters the taste. And the Miller Lite was sweet! Like creepy sweet. Those two beer selections should be solid. There were 6 of us the first time, and 3 of us the second time. We gave it a fair second chance. And kindly mentioned it to our server. Hopefully you will at the very least have your Bells guy check it out. read more
