I can't say enough good things about Sanford Auto Service. My 2013 Ford F-150 EcoBoost has had issues since I bought it, and I've taken it to multiple shops over the years. It would run well at times, but never truly great--until now. When my timing chain went out, I brought it here for a full tune-up. While it was a big repair, they worked with me on the price, which I really appreciated. The result? My truck has NEVER run better. It's been three weeks, and I've put it through the test--out-of-town trips, towing, 4WD--and it's handled everything flawlessly. This is the best it has ever driven. From Tracy in the front office to the mechanics in the back (wish I remembered their names!), everyone was honest, transparent, and dedicated to quality work. I've also brought my Tahoe here for some repairs, and that experience was great as well. But the work they did on my F-150 was major, and I couldn't be more pleased. I drive a pretty modified car that I take to the mechanic that built the engine. That being said, I lost coolant in front of Sanford Auto. They were kind enough to give me and my dog some cold water and they gave me a jug of water so I could get to my mechanic. Totally nice guys and a great looking shop in a great location. If I'm ever smart enough to drive a regular car I will definitely be giving this shop a try. read more

My 82 year old mother and husband are traveling back from North Carolina to Arizona. The transmission goes out in San Antonio. She doesn't know where to go or what to do. She calls me and we have the life360 app. I was able to locate her and pin point the nearest car services. I call Sanford Auto Service, explain the situation and Tracy waited for them to towed. Next thing I know Tracy is calling me and tells me he has my mother the truck and trailer. He has setup them up with water and electric and will start working on the truck on Monday. When you see advertisements for auto services, often these shops boast of "fast & friendly service", but they are rarely both. Sometimes they are neither. And whoever chose the slogan probably had no real relationship to the people at the shop. Sanford Auto Service does not need a sign that boasts in such a way. They simply personify it. Steve - who has owned it for two years now but has worked there for years - transmits humility, trustability, and reasonableness in every interaction - and he is the guy at the front desk so you know you are in good hands. I have gone to them now twice with my 2010 Mazda MX-5 PRHT: once for the air conditioning unit, and the second time for a clutch replacement. It's hard to find a mechanic you can trust. So glad I found this spot! As a woman, it can sometimes be awful going to a car shop. I'm not an idiot but am often treated like one and have to deal with pushy mechanics telling me about a whole host of services I "need". Sanford Auto does't make me feel like that at all. Car been doing some weird lagging with acceleration last few mornings. Took it here, unfortunately couldn't find the issue due to my car not persisting with the issue and no codes, but Tracy was thorough, friendly, and didn't charge since they couldn't diagnose an issue, even though they spent time attempting to. I wanted to leave a review because I rely on them so heavily when searching for a good business. I can't speak highly enough of Sanford, they were able to get me in the very last minute to do a full brake job on my car. I took it there just as a second opinion but because the communication was great with the owner and the price was good, the decision was a no brainer. I brought my Jeep in to Sanford a week ago for diagnostics. They determined the issues with my vehicle, ordered parts and I scheduled an appointment for the following week. I was told to bring my Jeep in at 7:30am on a Tuesday so they would have plenty of time to finish the four hour job (repair rear axle valves and secondary oil drip pan gasket). By the end of the day Tuesday, I didn't get a call back to pick up. So Wednesday morning I called and was told they were just too busy, didn't have time to look, and would check it out soon. At 2:30 pm on Wednesday, I received a call that they had finally started on my Jeep but they ordered the wrong parts and would need to keep it longer to get the repairs done. I told them not to bother with the remaining repair, just put it back in order and I'd pick up Wednesday night since I don't have any other vehicles and it shouldn't have taken this long regardless. I was then told I could not pick it up because the mechanics couldn't put the rear axle back together before 5:30pm (this would have been 3 hours later - mind you, this was all for a job that I was told would take no more than four hours for all repairs). So I had to leave my vehicle at the shop for a second night, third day, for a four hour job they neglected to order the correct parts for. It is now 11:30am on Thursday, the third business day my car was kept, and I was finally able to pick up. They completed half the work the appointment was for. I don't know if these mechanics are incompetent or the scheduler is absolutely horrible, but between all of these thing and this experience - I would never encourage anyone to go here. If they tell you to show up at 7:30am for a quick job, expect to not get your car back for at least three days with half the work done. read more

Took my 2005 Toyota MR2 in for an alignment. Bill did an amazing job of getting the alignment just right, wheel was cocked 10 degrees to right. Had a few other things done at same time. For fair, honest and Pro work I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sanford. read more

Stephen (the owner) and Bill (one of the mechanics) are amazing! They take pride in what they do and the customer service is "Top Notch" . I took my 2012 Hyundai Equus (I was referred to them by a friend) for some pretty detailed work on the struts and suspension (the dealership was going to charge $4,000 + on just parts alone) and they did it for a fraction of the cost with excellent service, fairness, timeliness and transparent communication. 11/14/18 Post: Response to Sanford Auto Services - This post is available to the public so Sanford now offer an apology online to save face. I paid to have my power steering fluid flush. What is the case you are specifically referring to that caused for an incomplete flush? Again, this wasn't just a bad flush, I extracted dirty fluid with a burnt odor from the reservoir which Steve, the owner labeled as "universal" fluid. My phone history shows no call from Sanford Auto Services. No phone calls or voicemail left. I've already made my recommendation to avoid this place of business. Here is my recommendation to Steve and Sanford Auto Services: As a courtesy to your customer and good business practice, check with your customer first to see if they are okay with you performing a complimentary check. The customer will appreciate that. No element of surprise. Provide quality service to what the customer paid for. Also make sure a quality check is perform after the service is complete (i.e. wipe down any mess created during the service). You might have customers who may want to take a look under the hood when you tell them their car is finished in 20 minutes. 11/13/18 Post: Most of the reviews for Sanford Auto Services praised them for their fast service. *Beware. I brought in my car for a power steering flush and checked in with Steve (owner). After 20 minutes of waiting, the owner told me my car was ready. I checked out with Steve and went to have a look under the hood. I found the power steering reservoir over filled and there were fluids leaking in several places in the engine bay. I addressed the issue there at Sanford. While discussing about the power steering fluid mess, the mechanic brought up my radiator fluid for some odd reason. They wanted to take my car back inside the garage but I declined. I did not trust them. I left Sanford Auto Services questioning if they performed a proper power steering flush. When I arrived home, I used a turkey baster that I purchased specifically to remove dirty power steering fluid to check the reservoir. The fluid that came out was thick, dark and had a burnt smell to it. I would avoid Sanford Auto Services and would recommend taking your business elsewhere read more
