I brought in my car for a second opinion with O'Brien's Automotive. Did a test drive and explained the problem. After the test drive, they lifted car up and identified the problem immediately. It was the bolt joints and were pretty bad. They called me out to view them and also took pictures for my records. They worked on a quote and it was a reasonable one. They had my car out the following day. It is running so smooth and no more clanking. I just can't believe that my car is running so smooth. I just want to say, O'Brien's provided excellent customer service and made me feel at home. They are very reasonably priced. I had small bolt to be fixed. I would have done, if I had spanner. Minutest of the minute job. Went there, nice talking management asked me to sit in the glass room. Charged me $63, saying it is 30 minutes job. It is hardly 1-2 minute job, even without electric and manually tightening the screw. I was shocked to see the bill, for such a small job. read more

Replaced all the breaks on my car, oil change and inspection in a matter of hours - with a two year warranty to boot. They even picked me up from home once my car was ready as I did not have a ride. What a joke/waste of time!! I called ahead to ask for a quote. The person asked all of my information so she could verify the cost and then give me a call back (so it would be accurate).....I checked around further and it was a good price. I called back to make the appointment and stated the price I was quoted and asked to confirm it. The guy was hesitant and said they just needed to get it in and diagnose it. I asked if I did the repair with them if any portion of the $160 diagnostic went toward the repair...which every place I talked to at least applied part, if not all of the diagnostic fee to the repair, but, nope. Okay...well...still a DECENT price quote. I bring it in early in the morning (again based on the price quote). I asked the "manager", Julie for the price quote to be put in writing. She looks very uncomfortable but I'm clearly not handing over my keys until I get it. And, suddenly, we have a $2k price hike?!?! I (kindly mind you) thanked her for her time and said I could not afford that. ...trying to get me to stay, she said the exorbitant price included the kit needed....I told her, yes, I understand, the previous person said the price quote included parts and labor along with the kit....she said, to be "careful" when getting price quotes...that their quote included work on (something, don't remember the name) that could have metal shards and thats because they "don't do a half (explicitive) job" (what professional speech from a "manager"!!!). Anyhow, if that is STANDARD that they replace that (whatever you call it) then, put that in the over the phone quote. Other VERY reputable shops said it was not necessary and that there were other things they could try before taking it that far (again, they hadn't even cracked the hood so they are not looking for economical or possibilities to save you money). Sooooooo.....they are going to just replace anything and everything they can....soooo....even if it's NOT necessary, you are guaranteed to have the HIGHEST price possible. Well....thank you but I dont think so. And I dont believe it is to do things to highest standard...just the highest price (imo). Thanks but no thanks!!! By the way....I called back to ask a question and asked for Julie the "manager"....The man answering said she was away and would be back in about 30 minutes....didn't receive a call back. UPDATE 3/18/18 My truck broke down in SA at night and I had to have it towed to their shop, the next day I called and talked to Nanette and her crew they took great care of me as they always do. They use top quality parts and are always in contact with you so you know the status of you vehicle and what work needs to be done. Please be careful if you go to this shop and bring your own parts due to warranties, to save money. They must put the least experienced person on the job; I had a simple tune up. I had to take my car back twice as he did not attach parts to my air system. After the third time, my check engine came on AGAIN and I was told it was mis-firing. The owner was less that willing to look at it again due to her employees negligence and reminded me that labor is not under warranty! My car did not have these problems until HER employee worked on it. I had to take to another place and pay for them to look at it then put the spark plugs in correctly as they had not done that originally when they replaced them. read more

Stay away from this place. First, they did work I specifically told them not to do. Second, they kept for themselves valuable equipment removed from my car (which, by the way, I had told them not to remove in the first place). Lastly, the owner had the gall to tell me, "because you agreed to the price, you must pay" for the work, completely ignoring the fact they did work I specifically told them not to do. My car alarm was interfering with my ignition. So I told them to ONLY do what was necessary to get the car running, i.e., just undo the wiring and take the alarm out of the loop so the car will start, but don't take out any hardware. I told them I have an acquaintance in the alarm business who will fix the alarm later. When I go to pick up the car I noticed they removed all the hardware--horn, brain box, wires...all of it. To top it off, when I got home and looked in the trunk expecting to find the parts they removed, I found they kept all the hardware for themselves, obviously intending to resell them for profit. The next day I told the owner about the mistake they made, hoping they'd offer to put the hardware back in and refund money for the work I specifically told them not to do (i.e., remove the alarm). But the owner tells me that because I agreed to the price, they owe me nothing. Later, the car alarm business said the alarm is fixable and the old parts are still usable. But I've got to pay to have them reinstalled. I'd ask O'Brien's to reinstall the alarm, but obviously they can't be trusted. Furthermore, I've heard too many stories of mechanics sabotaging cars of customers who question their work. read more
