Our experience with this restaurant was miserable. I ordered a take-out order and was told it would take 45 minutes to an hour. I showed up after an hour and was told it would take 20 more minutes. After 20 minutes I was told it would take another 10 minutes., I got the impression that they had not even begun taking care of our order and cancelled at that point. Of the three Indian restaurants in Ithaca, this one is the one that I catch myself craving. Their breads in the tandoori oven are the best in town. But their curries get better every time I'm there. Their lamb dishes aren't dry like the other places in town and you can tell everything is made in house. I could eat their yogurt on everything, it just tastes so fresh. The food takes a little longer to come out of the kitchen at times, but I think its family run with the same couple of cooks who have perfected their cuisine based on decades of all day shifts. I ordered from them because they are the only Indian restaurant on Ithacatogo. Everything about my experience was bad. Let's start with the fact that they completely forgot my goat vindaloo. Apparently they forgot to write it on my ticket. So I call and after having to talk to three different people I am told that they can get it to me in half an hour. Apparently I am just supposed to wait for it while the rest of our food gets cold. Instead I opted to call Ithaca To Go and get a refund for that dish. Then there is the fact that the dal had too much stacked on it on so by the time it got to me the lid had broken and half of it was in the bottom of the back. Add to that the fact that the samosas are $5 for two and top it all off with the fact that it is the most mediocre Indian I have ever had. Don't waste your time with this place. I went in for the lunch buffet. The food was really tasty, hot, and fresh. Even at 2pm they were constantly bringing out fresh food. There were also really nice desserts. The only downsides are the service and the price. The price was relatively high for a buffet in Ithaca. Apparently the buffet prices increased at the time I went in and I was overcharged and paid a lot more than what the buffet actually is. The service is very fast, but not welcoming/friendly. Sangam is my favorite place to go to in Ithaca and I am a regular visitor here. There are three very unique things about this place- 1.) Extremely friendly and well behaved owners and staff. 2.) They keep innovating and experimenting with food and come up with a lot of variety. 3.) This is one place where Indian food tastes like Indian food in Ithaca. You won't find the same gravy for different items. Every dish is prepared with its own unique spices and/or gravy making it the most versatile Indian buffet during the day and ala carte menu at night. The quality of food is good too. Its freshly prepared every day. They offer special meals on special days. I love the rice pudding. Being a vegetarian I have more than many options that I love there. Yellow daal, Bhindi masala, Aloo gobhi, Chapati and Tava Aloo parantha is so close to home here. read more

This place sucks! It is a waste of your time and money. We waited for more than an hour for a takeout order consisting of 3 items. Moreover, the food turned out to be not worth the wait at all! There is nothing special about their "special" biryani and the mutton roganjosh didn't taste anything like it should have. The place is clearly under-staffed, there were just 2 servers for a place with seating capacity of 40-50, and from the pace of food preparation it would seem that the kitchen is also under-staffed. As far as I know, if you want a straight-up Indian joint in Ithaca, it's either Sangam or Diamond (downtown). I think Sangam is much better and their buffet is a great value. The food is delicious and it's convenient if you're around collegetown. If you're downtown, I still would say it's worth the trip up the hill if you want Indian food. The atmosphere is comfortable and quiet (good place to chat). They don't make anything spicy, but it seems like everywhere in Ithaca serves very mild food unless you specifically request it to be very hot- in which case it will still not be that hot, but could be described then as spicy. read more

My family has been going to Sangam for the past 7 1/2 years. We so LOVE LOVE LOVE their food and their friendly atmosphere. There is nothing in Ithaca that compares. We really feel like they are family to us. We shared a lot with them over the years, especially a love of great Indian cuisine. Our children, Willa, 7, Emmitt, 4, and August 11 months are true Indian food lovers as well. Whenever asked where they want to go to eat, the answer is always the same, "Sangam's lunch buffet!!!" We are vegan and they always provide us with the most amazing meat and dairy free options, so amazing that we eat there once a week. My mother and my mother-in-law have also been bitten by the Sangam love bug and they go with us for lunch whenever they are in town. Thank you Sangam for all the yummy meals. read more

Recently visit Ithaca Cornell with three other friends and ask for good Indian restaurant A Cornell student highly recomended us to go to SANGAM few blocks away from campus. I had to write this review after my first visit. food guilty is excellent and reasonably priced. Sangam offers a good selection of Starters and wide range of different mains. We had a fabulous dinner-the chicken tikka Marsala was absolutely delicious and and friends had lamb boti kabab masala, chicken Malabar special of the day and alu Nan, onion kulcha and butter Nan.
