I was very disappointed!! I ordered lamb biriyani, according to the menu it is supposed to prepare with basmati rice but they cooked with normal rice. I never imagine a biryani without basmati. Looks sketchy, but has a mean lunch buffet deal for $6.95 with tasty food that reminds me of New York City. Highest compliment coming from me. I just wish they would brighten up the lights. Good Indian food and great service.

I've only gone here for the liunch buffett. Basically I like it as mcuh a sthe Indian restuarant off the commons (Diamonds)..... The buffett can use a bit more variety but they always have dosas at their buffet, and desert too, unlike Daimnds. read more

I had a meal delivered from Sangam through Ithaca to Go. It arrived well before the estimated delivery time and was fresh and hot. The samosas were a little spicy for my taste (I'm a weenie when it comes to spice), but they were well-cooked and weren't greasy. The mint and onion sauces were especially good. The naan was huge and really good. I got the chicken tikka sagwala, which was supposed to be chicken in a spinach and tomato sauce. What it actually was was chicken in a spinach sauce with a single little cube of tomato on the top of it. I didn't find another tomato in the whole dish. It was good, but it wasn't what I ordered, and I was overcharged for what I got, since the chicken sagwala is $2 cheaper than the tikka sagwala. Not bad food, but I think I still like Diamond's more. read more

Sangam is the restaurant I hold all other Indian restaurants up to. After eating at many other Indian restaurants I find myself wanting to be back at Sangam. The food has always been hot and fresh and delicious. I highly recommend Sangam for solid Indian fare. read more

Sangam was very accommodating to us for catering. I had to order catering for 30 people on a Sunday night and every other catering service was non responsive. Sangam, however, picked up right away and said that they were able to accommodate. We ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice, Naan, Alu Chloe, and Alu Gobi Masala. All were perfectly delicious as well as they were able to provide me with the list of allergies! read more

This is basically your average Indian restaurant. None of the dishes will wow you, but they are reasonably tasty. While I think the buffet is better, overall, at Mehak's down the street, this buffet has far more vegetarian options and the vegetarian dishes are all quite good. I'd recommend Sangam for Vegetarians and Mehak for meat eaters. read more

It all started with a first date with the man I am marrying this Saturday. Well, an almost first date: he had suggested Sangam for our first meeting, which is ironic because "Sangam" means "the meeting of two hearts." I had never tried Indian cuisine before, and was timid to try it on our first date, so we settled for sushi. After a few months of dating, I finally gave it a go after hearing his glowing reviews again and again. My first experience was dinner: the lamb vindaloo, aloo gobi masala, and garlic naan. I was completely blown away: the meat was tender, the spices flavorful, and the naan insane. I polished off the mint chutney by myself it was so good (and now one of my favorite foods ever!). We have been to the lunch buffet at least a hundred times now and are always impressed with the assortment of dishes. The vegetarian selections are especially impressive, and I've tried everything from matar, aloo, eggplant, bindhi and even zucchini dishes. Another thing I love about the buffet: they don't tone down the spice! Of course, they don't crank it all the way up (as we asked for once for our goat vindaloo- we needed that raita!!), but they make it spicy enough to please this hot palate. Sangam is the best their is, hands down. I've tried others, including places in Syracuse and Richmond, VA, but nothing even comes close. My faves: garlic naan, papadum, mint chutney, goat vindaloo, lamb do piaza, chana masala, all of their saag dishes, and their tandoori mixed grill. Try their specials on the dinner menu; perhaps they will one day have the lamb rogan josh they once had as a special. Amazing! read more

Lunch buffet is a pretty good deal. The food is mostly mediocre though. But they do give you lots of options to try at a low cost so you can't complain too much. I tried a little bit of everything and liked the chicken curry the most. You can easily get your money's worth in two or three plates. DONT use ithaca to go for these guys. They are really stingy and the food is far inferior to mehak's. I got like 5 tiny shreds of chicken in my "chicken tikka masala" which tasted more like spaghetti-os with Sriracha sauce. read more

I've only eaten here a few times for the lunch buffet, but every time something goes wrong. Either the ancient credit card machine breaks down or the naan bread is mysteriously missing. During the buffet one-too-many waiters attempt to refill my water after I take one sip. This over attention to the water refilling made me feel uncomfortable. After I was done eating (the food good) and payed I checked my receipt and noticed that there was an automatic gratuity added to my check. This shocked me. Tipping at a normal restaurant should be to the discretion of the customer. In this case there wasn't normal waiter service but gratuity was expected. Without a doubt the best Indian food I have ever eaten. We have a couple of Indian cuisine restaurants close to home, but I will make the 35 mile one way trip just for Sangam. They have an excellent lunch buffet 7 days a week. The price is right and the restaurant is very clean. The owners are wonderfully friendly and the staff is courteous. read more

I used to always be a fan of Sangam, but within the last year every time I've eaten there I've been really disappointed. I recently ordered Dal Makhani and Chicken sag. They both tasted off, very bland and the chicken was just dry. The paratha was also bland. I don't think I've ever had under seasoned Indian food. No chutneys with my to-go order either. With so many other great options in town, I won't be returning. read more

The service was really bad, when I went inside to pay nobody was there. I went in another two times, again, nothing. I shouted but nobody responded. On the phone while paying, they asked for a tip twice. That's fine, but with the terrible service there was no way and I don't understand why they would expect a tip when they weren't even trying to be friendly. When I went in to pick up the food, the man just put the food on the table and didn't say anything. Again, whatever, I'm not going to be crazy about these small things, it's just bothersome when coupled with what I mentioned before. We ate the food which was way too overpriced for what it was. There were four pieces of chicken for the chicken tandoori, not to mention it really lacked any flavor or smokiness. It was fine, not worth $14. The rest of the food was okay, but really didn't have any flavor at all. Overall, it was fine. But definitely wouldn't go back. I really enjoyed my meal at Sangam tonight. We ordered the veg appetizer platter for an appetizer and the mixed grill to split as our entree- there was plenty of food to go around! Our waitress was very sweet and the lady that I think might have been the owner was very nice. She gave us our chais for free after we told her how wonderful they were. read more

I've been coming here for the past five years, first as a local high school student and later as a college student. It's the first stop that I make every time that I come back home on break; during a week long break, I might come back two or even three times. And while I found the food quite good when I first came, I feel that it's only improved since then. The staff is super friendly and many of them have been here as long as I've been coming, so they really start to remember you. For a budget strapped college student, the lunch buffet is a lifesaver. All the classic dishes are there, and you'll want to eat so much that you won't even need dinner. Being a long-term resident, I've always taken for granted the wealth of dining experiences here, and only when I left for college did I realize what I was missing. But even compared to the other wonderful restaurants in the area, Sangam is one of the crowning jewels. read more

I love Sangam. I love the lunch buffet- the standard favorites are always there, like the Tandoori chicken, Na'an, and curry chicken, and then there are some variations each day. Recently, for the first time, I had beef vindaloo, and the meat was so incredibly tender and delicious. The lunch cannot be beat. During the school year, get there right when they open. And when the students are gone, it's less hectic. Parking is a nightmare, but parking is ALWAYS a nightmare in Collegetown. There is a parking garage within an easy walk. Just received our order, which was on time and still hot. First time ordering, had high hopes, very disappointed. Good: * I ordered two pieces of naan. The naan pieces are huge and look delicious. * flavors pretty good. * huge portion of rice. Horrible: * our paneer pakoras are rock hard and inedible. Only four pieces for 5.90. * our malai kofta, meant to be shared by two adults and one child, has three kofta balls swimming in a sea of sauce. The balls are the size of small meatballs. * We ordered two entrees. Each was supposed to come with two chutneys (mint and tamarind). We only got two chutneys in those small, plastic ramekins; each ramekin is only a third full. I think we were also supposed to get a tamarind chutney with our samosas, but there are only the two- again- to be shared two and a half ways. We also got a ramekin with some soft, plain diced tomatoes, which was maybe a quarter full. For a meal that came to $54, this is truly pathetic. Would never order from them again. Sangam has the best Indian cuisine in Ithaca, high quality traditional Indian food made authentically. The staff here are excellent, kind and knowledgable of all meals. They have a wide variety of foods for allergy sufferers--especially--for gluten free individuals and those off dairy. Finally, tradition: the food here is made without fillers, without cornstarch and cheap ingredients found at other restaurants in the area. The ambiance is charming and the the food always good. Thirty years of business in Ithaca--they must be doing something right. read more

I'll be honest, I have never really tried indian food before coming here and if you have never tried but want to, order the tikka masala! It's mild enough for those who are sensitive to spices and tastes delicious and creamy! Also I usually order a basket of naan as an appetizer because they are HUGE and yummy especially when warm.. The food here is tasteless and the manager thinks he is doing you a favor when you ask for more rice or a take out. Despite being served by a nice young woman, the manager began hovering around our table once we were done. Then he swooped in when we stood up and we saw him taking and pocketing our tip. If you want to tip the waitstaff, I suggest you give it to them once they bring your meal. read more

I deliver food from 60+ restaurants. Sangam has never produced the food on the time they provide. Every restaurant struggles if a very large group enters with zero warning, but even empty this restaurant is ALWAYS extremely late. Shahi Pakwan or Diamons both serve indian cuisine far better. Also the servers at Sangam are in my opinion the saddest and most depressed of any restaurant in the whole of Ithaca. read more
