We had the tapas, grilled shrimp, potatoes with spicy sauce and octopus this was a wonderful start to a great meal the olive oil dipping sauce for the bread was flavored with fresh garlic, olive oil and olives. Met a friend with the husband here for lunch on a Saturday. Service was slightly above average due to the nice waitress who took care of us. The man who took our order was a bit rushy and not particularly friendly. We ordered the lunch special, which is a wonderful deal at $13 for soup or salad + sangria, wine or beer + entree + dessert. Portions are perfect for lunch. The chicken soup and white bean soup were tasty and we loved that they both were not overly salty. The rice in the paella was flavorful and included a decent amount of seafood. The sangria (red) tasted a bit watered down and lacked a fruity flavor. For dessert, the flan was good though I have had better elsewhere. Overall, I would come back to try the tapas as the food was great for the reasonable prices. read more

We were very excited when we found out a Spanish restaurant would be opening in our tiny town, so of course we had to visit the first weekend! Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is clean and nicely laid out, and the staff is friendly, courteous and accommodating. We ordered the Picotea, Paella Valenciana, and Lenguado (sole), which came with various side dishes. The Picotea (assorted smoked meats and cheeses) was beautifully presented, and was accompanied by fresh-tasting walnuts (nuts often taste rancid) and decoratively sliced apple. The variety of cheeses was a nice mix of mild cow and wonderfully strong, pungent goat cheese. The Paella was phenomenal--perfectly cooked and seasoned, and authentic in presentation and flavor. We ordered the "paella for one," and it was enough for two meals. The bread accompanying the meal was soft and fresh, but unremarkable. The side salad was fresh, mixed greens, with a basic vinaigrette dressing. The Lenguado (sole with garlic, lemon and herbs) was the one disappointment. Although the serving size was quite large, the fish was extremely dry, to the point of being just barely edible. The seasoning was not particularly flavorful, and also needed salt. The side dishes were good, basic dishes--beans with garlic and tomatoes, perfectly cooked; saffron rice with peas, nicely done; and the homemade potato chips were delicious--not greasy at all, very crispy, but some were unsalted whereas others had too much salt. We will definitely return to Sangria 71 to explore some of the other options on their broad menu. We are hopeful that some of the problems we ran into are just the result of the restaurant being newly opened, and that the restaurant will survive much longer than the previous ones at this location! read more

Frozen fish, chicken bland seems like they rush you, I guess they want to turn over tables, should sorry more about food quality. Grilled octopus was good and Sangria was off the chart. Use fresh seafood and season a little more, fix tres leche coco and you got a home run. read more

Had a very nice dinner experience here with my girlfriend on a Friday night. We were seated promptly and waiter frequently checked in to see how everything was. Food was delicious and very authentic. I highly recommend the Paella but will be coming back to try their tapas as well. The sangria was strong, but i mean that in a good way! 10/10 recommend trying. read more

Myself and fiance have heard many great things about Sangria 71 and it has been on our list of restaurants to go to. We eat out pretty often, at least once a week. We decided yesterday to check it out. I arrived before him as we were both coming from different locations. I was waiting inside for him to get there and when he finally arrived the hostess asked if it was just the two of us, in which I replied "Yes, thank you." She then proceeded to tell my fiance, "Sorry we have a no hats policy" and motioned for him to remove his winter cap. Now, obviously he was going to take it off; he wasn't going to wear it during dinner! He literally just walked in from outside, where the temperature was in the 30's! He was confused and taken aback and not sure how to respond to which I said, "Yeah, he'll take it off." It was a very awkward exchange. The hostess is supposed to make the customers feel welcomed to the establishment and it definitely felt like the opposite. Other than that strange occurrence we had a pretty good experience. Our server was great and the food was delicious. We would consider coming back but probably not in the near future. read more

Went to this restaurant tonight and it was ok, nothing special. When we first got there, we had two options either wait for a table in the dining area or we can get a table by the bar. We decided to get a table at the bar area, which btw was crowded, but that was ok. I ordered the arroz con pollo, sangria and raspberry tres leche. My other half had pollo de vollerio (not sure that's how it's spelled) but it was OK. My other half dish had so much cheese that he really couldn't enjoy it. My dish was ok but I wish the chicken was seasoned a little more and the rice wasn't wet at the bottom. The sangria was great a little kick to it. The waitress we had was nice. This place is nothing special. We originally chose there so we can dine outside but when we got there we was informed that there is no outside dining as of yet because they did not receive their permit. This is one of those places that I would give a zero if I could. Food was okay but not worth the incredibly bad customer service. Upon entering the restaurant, the hostess refused to seat me because the entire party of 4 for dinner was not there. There was not a soul in the entire restaurant - at least 30 empty tables. Nevertheless, on a bitter cold night, she told me I had to stand by the door, while my husband parked the car and my friends walked from their house two blocks away . After several requests, I told her I would go elsewhere if she could not seat me, so she took me to a table in the corner - and said she'd get in trouble if anyone saw me sitting by myself- the only customer in the restaurant! When the waiter came to the table, I asked him to recommend a red wine which he did and brought a GLASS. It was only after we FINISHED our meal and went to the restroom that we learned- from a sign posted in THE BATHROOM - that there are half-price bottles of wine on Thursday - which was not recommended and does not appear on the specials menu. When we asked, both the waiter and manager were rude in their responses. We will not return. Many places nearby with better food and service. read more

Went here on 6/8 for girls night. There were 7 of us. We shared a pitcher of passion fruit sangria which was good. Nothing mind blowing in my opinion. The wait staff were attentive and made sure to refill water very often. The atmosphere was nice, although the rectangular table made it hard to have conversation with others. Since it was a busy Saturday night it was quite loud which made it hard to hear others that were even sitting close. I ordered the Mariscada (Assortment of clams, mussels, shrimp, sea scallops, Choice of Garlic, Green or Diablo sauce). I chose the garlic sauce option. Honestly, I expected better for a $26 entree at a nice restaurant. The seafood was in an excessive amount of sauce, especially considering the small amount of rice that came with it. They could have given more rice to go with it (unless it was supposed to be eaten as a soup?). The bigger issue was the salt. WAY WAY WAY too much salt. And I like salt!! I will often add some to my food at restaurants. Other reviewers that mentioned this heavy salt issue were correct. I wish I said something to the waiter so maybe I could have gotten a different dish. I just hate to seem like a complainer, especially when I'm out with a larger group. A tasted the frittata and fried artichoke that a friend had and they were good, especially the artichoke. Instead of an entree I guess I should have gone with some tapas that weren't drowned in sauce. Unfortunately I don't think I'll go back in order to do that. read more

I rarely write reviews for restaurants, but I felt compelled to write one for sangria 71. The customer service is fantastic and should be recognized. I had dinner in the dining room and the waiters are so attentive. There's always someone walking the room checking in and whenever they aren't busy with tables you can tell they post up and watch the room and jump whenever they see you need something. I moved the tapas tower over and someone came right away to take it out of the way, I just finished my last sip of sangria and there was my waiter right there ready to pour my next glass. Very impressive and for that alone I'll be back. Good job guys ! read more

Miguel was our server,he is authentic & funny. The tapas here was was really flavorful. Devils on horseback - bacon wrapped dates, amazing! Croquettes = yum! Grilled octopus was fresh & tender. We tried the paella Valencia , nice flavor but every clam/ mussel I tried was sandy :-( Great white sangria, a fresh complimentary salad ( nice touch) ,fresh bread & an olive , pepper dipping sauce. I've been here plenty of times and sometimes is delicious and others not so much. The paella has been consistent but that's about it. The white sangria is not good but any of the other sangrias are delicious. I've been a big fan of the croquetas but I went last week and they were cold inside. The beef empanadas tasted more like meatballs inside fried dough. The camarones al ajillo were overcooked but the sauce was tasty. The batatas bravas where undercooked. On the other hand, the stuffed dates, pulpo,oysters and chicken empanadas very good. This place is hit or miss but the good side is that is pretty reasonable. read more

After having been here several times sorry to say I will not be returning the. We thought we hit it on an "off" day so we tried it again and it was worse. The paella was so over cooked, dried out and unflavored. They basically threw the shrimp in as an afterthought, they were over cooked steamed shrimp thrown in on top of the paella that looked and tasted like it was sitting all day. Never again read more
