One of my favorite spots for good food, ambience and service. Tapas are reasonably priced and just enough to sample and save room for main dishes. Paella's are above average. The amount of ingredients (seafood, sausages, chicken) is more than ample for the prices they charge. A paella for two will have you stuffed with enough to doggy bag for next days lunch. However, more than the food, I'm a big fan of the service they provide at Sangria 71. Waiters are always attentive and friendly, hostesses welcome you with a warm smile, and the older gentleman that sings happy birthday to the patrons has such passion it's amazing. One time one of our guest dropped a $100 dollar bill and they actually called me back to inform us. Such honesty deserves praise! read more

As I write this I'm sitting here finishing my glass of wine. Came here for happy hour on Thursday 9/3/20. My favorite bartender Jesse was here! As always the food was amazing! This evening we had raw oysters and clams, pulpo a la gallega (delish), grilled calamari, shrimp in garlic sauce, and spinach with garbanzos! Everything was cooked to perfection, the music was great, the vibe was incredible. Friday night dinner on a rainy night however restaurant was still fairly busy. I heard the Paella was good so wanted to check it out. The restaurant is very loud, hard to have a conversation. The waiter came to take drink orders, 2 out of 3 of us wanted Sangria and before I could even order a soda he walked away and came back with a pitcher of Sangria. He never asked what size we wanted and just arrived with 3 glasses. He was extremely quick and already pouring glasses before I could say we only wanted a half pitcher. At that point we just kept it but it was definitely a waste of money. When ordering our food he was in such a rush he never really heard us or paid attention. When we asked for recommendations he would just say if you want pork, this is a pork dish, if you want chicken, this is a chicken dish. We had the stuffed mushrooms which were tasty and we enjoyed but only came with 4 mushrooms. We ordered the skirt steak which was good, however the broccoli side was awful, extremely overcooked and mushy. I had the Paella Valenciana which was good but not the best I've had. The shrimp were overcooked and the chicken was dry. Also bit into a few hard pieces likely from the shells which was not pleasant. The Paella carne was a disappointment as my friend was expecting chunks of meat but it was just small diced pieces of meat so it was not very satisfying. We got the Lava cake for dessert and that was thumbs down! It was a dry cake and no lava. All they did was drizzle some hersey syrup on top. Don't call it a lava cake, charge $10 and cut corners by serving a subpar dessert. Also I asked the waiter to pack one of our leftovers but he didn't, I didn't realize until I got home. read more

We're going low carb for a while so dining can be a bit of a challenge but we had a great meal and very good experience here! The free glass of Sangria with check in was honored without question and I went with the white which was tasty, refreshing and beautiful to behold but it was on the weaker side. Wouldn't recommend at $10 a glass. My husband had a house Merlot which was $9 and a very nice pour. He was satisfied! You get a bottle of water at the table and oh my, did the bread & oil look good. Started with a bowl of gazpacho which was nice and chilly with wonderful texture and a tasty parsley garnish. It was quite tangy. Then followed scallops, nice and plump and firm in lemon sauce which was to die for. Thick and creamy. Plus shrimp in salsa verde which was mild, thin texture and garlicky. The final shared dish was listed as a summer special but happily still around: shrimp with lobster meat, choice of sauce so we got the garlic one. This was loaded with diced garlic. Delicious. Subbed a side of green beans for the rice and they were nicely seasoned. Still more healthful garlic! There's a big and varied tapas selection and I recommend that as the way to build a meal here. Street parking was tight but we found a spot. I seem to recall there was valet which may only be on certain nights. Dining room was pretty full but seating was comfortable and elbow room sufficient. Close enough to eyeball the salad with jumbo shrimp at the next table - huge and definitely meant for sharing. Maybe next time. Service was prompt and just attentive enough. We passed through the bar side on the way out which looked really nice. I hear that the full menu is not available in the bar but did not verify that. Recommend and would gladly return. read more

We have eaten at Sangria 71 numerous times and always enjoyed it, but today our experience wasn't great. My husband ordered the fish fillet and it had a stench, he didn't eat it and and returned it to the kitchen. They didn't charge us, but the experience put a damper on the quality of food served here. Also, the chef didn't even come out to apologize. Also, their website said that they offer brunch and lunch on Sunday's but today, Mother's Day, they only offered dinner. Was this a way for them to swindle their customers? Very disappointing. read more

Who knew you could get decent Spanish cuisine in the middle of Williston Park? We came for lunch and were surprised by their really reasonable lunch menu (ordered the paella and shrimp in red sauce). Flavors here were pretty good - paella was fresh, well seasoned and seafood was well cooked, shrimp was tasty and the sauce was flavorful. The fried artichokes were yummy first time having this my only suggestion the aioli they gave tasted more like mayo a nice pesto aioli or garlic aioli would've been banging but wait the fried manchengo cheese with honey glaze was so delicious!!!! We had a wonderful meal at Sangria 71! The restaurant is a bit oddly shaped- maybe like a donut? From the hostess stand one direction is the dining room and the other direction is the bar- they are both long and relatively narrow and then connect again in the back but you sort of walk through a kitchen area in the back. Anyway- we went on a Friday night and it was bustling. The waiters are knowledgeable and efficient. The food is delicious. We had a sizzling seafood, the sea bass special (amazing), paella (perfect and huge) and a veal dish. We came here today to celebrate my friends birthday. The restaurant has the Spanish feel/aura to it. Ambience of the whole restaurant- romantic, casual, noise level- a bit in the high range. We started with a pitcher of red sangria- not amazing , i would say i tasted way much better sangria. We ordered the appetizers- fried calamari, grilled octupus, chicken sofrito empanada and the ham/cheese croquettes- all were presented perfectly and would definitely recommend. Next , we ordered the main dish- the paella negra and paella valenciana which are both salty, it has a lot of seafoods and meat though but lacking in flavor. Place divided half bar, half restaurant. I went solo so chose the bar which had high tables to sit. Very comfortable. The oysters w cheese and spinach tapas (Ostras al Horno) was the best part of the meal. The cheese overpowered the oysters. The string beans were barely seasoned. The Mariscada is scallops, mussels, and shrimp with a choice of garlic, diablo, or green sauce. I picked the green sauce which is soupy and salty, not tasty, and did not look appetizing. The mussels and scallops were cooked just right. The shrimp were overcooked. The complimentary Red Sangria (thanks Yelp!) was good with the right amount of wine and brandy in it, and the Spanish Duelo wine was very good. Ok, the wine was the best part of the meal. The food presentation , the attentive service, and the cozy atmosphere were all inviting and made my experience most memorable. This place does a lot of things just right. Yum! This place is awesome! My wife and I came here for dinner one evening with some family, and we had a terrific experience, from the service to the ambiance and of course the food and drinks. We came on a Tuesday evening, and the special was paella for two with salad and a PITCHER of sangria for about $50! Not a bad deal when you consider how much food and drink is included. My wife and I of course opted for this deal and selected a pitcher of red sangria to start and paella Valencia for our entree (included rotisserie chicken, chorizo, shrimp, scallops and mussels). While we waited for our salad, we also munched on some fresh bread, which included some delicious olive oil with a mix of herbs and spices. When the food arrived, we were amazed at how much food was in our dish! Everything was served piping hot, and you could tell it was fresh. The flavor? Delicious! Even the chicken was moist and flavorful. My personal favorites were the scallops and chorizo. The rice also had an appetizing flavor to it. It all went perfectly with the sangria! Service and ambiance here was also top notch. Our waiter was very attentive and personable, and there was a singer/guitarist going from table to table to take song recommendations. The Details: This restaurant was so amazing we literally went two nights in a row - Friday & Saturday night - the waiter seemed confused to see us. The pulpo a la plancha is absolutely the best I've had since Barcelona. The other option (pulpo a la Gallega) with Peprika is also very tasty. I recommend splitting both between 3 people. The seafood won my heart but the skirt steak was one of my favorite bites. I have been to another Sangria spot a couple of times in Commack that I have found to be pretty good overall for the food and level of services. This one didn't live up to my expectations and seemed more of an overpriced meal at a so-so place. The food I ordered, a fish plate, was overcooked, under season and lacking in garnish and presentation. It was more of a smoky hunk of fish on a pan. Similarly, a chicken dish ordered by another member of the dining party was just drowning in sauce. The paella dish looked much better and worth a try. Finally, the food just took too long to arrive, with little attention in-between. For the price of the meal this should have been much better. One extra annoyance that is not a unique problem at this restaurant: tips are supposed to be 15% on average, but now places like this one offer precalculated tips on the bill and 15% is not even an option, but they start at 18% and in this case went as high as 30%, which I find astounding and insulting. How about keep climbing up to 100% of the bill? This seems to be where we are headed and I think consumers need to stop this. Calculate your own tip with 15% on average, more or less depending on service. We should not be subsidizing low pay. read more

Back a week later and even more impressed! Tried a few more dishes this time like the octopus Galicia which was soft, incredible morsels of octopus with just the right amount of seasoning. The Beef empanadas were perfect! Had the Tortilla Espana again which was great again! For the main dish we had the mariscada in garlic sauce with the home made potato chips and rice - really good! Dessert was the chocolate soufflé with a decaf cappuccino- happy ending. Oh, and the Red Sangria- classic, yum! I thought it was a clubby atmosphere and had avoided it but to the contrary it was a traditional setting filled with tables of happy diners. The menu was vast and we decided to start with a bevy of Tapas. We had a tower of 3..clams in Green Sauce was the best! next shrimp in garlic sauce also wonderful and thirdly we had fried calamari also delish! Surprisingly, the only negative at that point was the Sangria...tasted diluted with very little red wine taste..like it was spiked with too much soda. After this first round of Tapas we went for mains which execpt for one were terrific. The Mariscada; garlicky and delicious, A full order of Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, wonderful firm shrimp in a light sauce served in a skillet and another fish dish which I didnt have the opportunity to check out were all good with no complaints. My grilled Salmon was a loser though! I asked for med rare and got med RAW! They took it back and gave it more fire and just presented the fish on a otherwise empty plate...not the way to do it. And at that point it still was wet and cool in the middle. Wouldnt order that dish again and since everything else was really well prepared and super tasty we will return for another visit. Sangria 71 in Williston Park NY is a fantastic restaurant serving some great Spanish dishes. The tapas choices are plentiful and we have never been disappointed by any of the dishes we ordered. Paella is a favorite of mine and Sangria 71 offers a great variety in portions for one as well as multiple people. Besides the tapas and paella, they a offer a large variety of other delicious choices. My only complaint is, because of the wide variety of dishes offered, it is difficult to choose. The staff is friendly and very attentive to your needs. Juan, the manager, is great. He is around to make sure that you are happy and that everything is to your satisfaction. A special shout out to Carlos, the bartender. Although the restaurant has multiple rooms for seating, we usually eat at a table in the bar area. Carlos is super friendly to all the patrons and really makes you feel relaxed and at home. I would highly recommend eating at Sangtia 71 for a delicious meal, great drinks and a very friendly family atmosphere. You will not be disappointed! Strolled into this place on a Sunday because the restaurants I wanted to go to was over packed and another place had a long wait time. I called this restaurant and they said there will be no wait time. The restaurant has a pretty good ambience. The menu had a large selection of items. The drink menu did not have much options but you can order a drink off the menu. We ordered the lamb chops as appetizer ($19), A little too pricey for an appetizer but it was very delicious! I definitely would have gotten a second order if it was not that pricey. For the entrée we ordered the paella marinara for 1 ($26). For this price it was definitely worth it because the portion was very huge and can definitely feed three people even though it's Says "for 1". For the drink we ordered coconut Mojito, didn't really enjoy the drink it was water down for a $15 drink. The service was great, the waiter was attentive and checked up on us. Definitely worth trying. The food is very good and our server was outstanding. The owner works the room too so you really feel like a guest there and not a customer. We enjoyed the paella marinera as our main course. The shrimp with garlic, the chorizo, and the octopus were all excellent starters. Check in on the yelp app for a free glass of sangria.
