Just moved to Chelsea, figured I'd try a different pizza besides the usual. I was pretty disappointed in the pizza. Taste was fine, but it was a greasy mess. Picked up one alice and everything slide off as it flopped right over. It was as if you stuck a crispy pizza in some shallow water for a few minutes. Very friendly. I really like the Greek salad for on the go. I appreciate that the diet cokes are always crispy and never flat. The white pizza is delish! The inside is a little dated, but clean. It's a shame. I use to love Sanpeggio's pizza. I would have even rated it above average compared to any other mainstream brand, especially in the Birmingham area. But just like a bad boyfriend, I've finally smelled the roses and decided to leave them. I don't know if there are new owners, but the quality of the food has deteriorated to below cafeteria level. The past few orders have left with my uncooked dough, cheap sauce, unproperly cut slices, and a cheese that I can only describe as wet wall plaster. Oh and the OIL! The oil deserves its own special spot because look - pizza isn't exactly a healthy food item, but when you transfer 3 slices up the plate, the grease/oil amount is enough to make a puddle... You're right about doing something wrong, or especially using cheap ingredients. Which would explain the incredibly salty taste from all the preservatives. I want old Sanpeggio's back. But just like a bad boyfriend, I've realized that it's time for me to move on. read more

We get Sanpeggio's frequently. Today was disappointing. Bread sticks were over cooked and no dipping sauce with them. Regretfully this review is not about the food quality, but customer service. I ordered a supreme Pizza and upon arrival, I inspected the pizza and there were no mushrooms. When I told the employee about it, he took it to the back, came back up and stated "They must be under the cheese. Have a good day." Clearly they were unwilling to fix the issue. I waited and contacted the manager on the next business day, but she was out of town for the week and I spoke to the shift leader (very helpful and friendly). He apologized for the situation and assured me I would be getting a refund. I waited 2 weeks and it never came through. When I called back to figure out the situation, I spoke with another employee (very UNFRIENDLY) who refused to allow me to talk to the manager (apparently by her words she was too busy). He then lied to me stating they have always had a no refund policy. I asked for his name and he refused to give it to me and then I asked for the managers name and I was told "her name is Sanpeggio's Manager". I then tried to contact another location to get in touch with a district manager and no one is willing to contact me back. This really is disappointing because the food really has been great and one of our favorite pizzas, but to be talked to so rudely and not be called back is just unacceptable. The toppings were already becoming less and less, but to not get what I paid for and try to get it fixed and be told no is not something I am willing to deal with any longer. read more

We are regular Sanpeggio's customers, eating there almost every other week. Lately, they have started skimping on the toppings. I called and discussed it with the manager two weeks ago and she offered to make us another pizza - which I declined. I just wanted her to have an opportunity to correct their process so they don't lose business. I assured her we would give her another opportunity. Well, this weekend, we ordered our usual and they did put a little (very little) more toppings on it, but certainly not enough to make it worth buying another one. It is sad to lose a good pizza place, but it is sadder to pay good money for a mediocre pie. read more

Quoted 20 mins when I ordered. At the 45 min it came out of the oven. Only one little problem. They only made 2 of the 3 I paid for. So now it's been 50 mins and 2 pizzas are getting cold. This company easily won the WORST customer service award for 2021 in my books. It starts with me ordering a large pizza, medium pizza and two calzones via Yelp. I show up to the location and there is a busy line and once I get to the front, the young man refuses to release my food unless I pay at the terminal. I politely try to explain I paid via Yelp and he refuses. I had three hungry kids in the car and had literally just moved into the neighborhood so I had no food in my fridge. So I was irritated by the rude cashier but had to feed my kids so I paid and tipped him less. He told me to call back to settle whether I was double charged or not. Well... when I call back two days later, the young woman who answered was not as rude but the "owner" tried to tell me I had to dispute with Yelp and that they don't even service Yelp orders but grub hub only. They obviously don't understand Yelp and Grub hub are the same company. So no resolution on that call. A week or two later a man named Kumar called me to discuss the matter. He was very combative and contentious- so much I had to hand the phone to my husband. He tried to persistently tell me that they don't accept Yelp orders.. so how did you have mine when I got there to pick it up!? It was insane. He ended by saying he would reverse the charge from the store but a month later there has been no credit. I paid $140 for garbage pizza and a customer service nightmare. Customer beware. read more

I placed a pick up order at Sanpeggio's in Chelsea today since I was in the area. I was happy to see a mask requirement sign hanging on the front door when I entered. However, I was super disappointed that the cashier was not wearing a mask. I requested for him to put one on before I paid and he did. However, the other worker who peeked at me from the back was maskless too. When I got to my car, I couldn't dismiss the thought of a maskless person preparing my food.
