She was kept refusing to called my insurance, and i have to explain that i hv purchased full coverage for my new car. She kept insistme to call insurance while insurance insist Dinahlee to call direct from office ph. It took me more then 4hr only to replace a tire? Out of state buyers - caution! I had a rough experience with the General Manager. Called about a vehicle, wasn't given the time of day. Took me 3 days just to talk to the GM. Told me verbatim he would much prefer to sell a vehicle to someone in NJ than someone out of state. Wouldn't even have a conversation about the price of the vehicle. Started assuming I wanted it shipped. I offered to fly in, and told me it would make the deal more expensive for me. I wish I would have looked at the ratings before putting so much effort in. Had I known they were a 2-Star location I would have moved on. First dealership I've ever worked with that went out of their way to make me feel 100% ignored. Unfortunately my vehicles battery died, after I got it started, I went to an AutoZone. It died again and was told it would not be able to be installed there because they were short staffed. Fast forward I was headed to another AutoZone but I decided to look up a Toyota dealership instead. I was able to get an appointment right then and there and the price was better than autozone. They were friendly, did not try to get me to change 1000000 filters, and had a great little diner like area upstairs that I was able to use my computer and sit in a booth while I waited. This was my first time servicing my vehicle at  Sansone. I came in for an oil change and a diagnosis of my trunk issue.  When I arrived, my trunk was closed.  They contacted me via text message to let me know my trunk locking mechanism was damaged.  When I dropped the vehicle off, the lock mechanism had an issue in which the lock mechanism prevented the lift gate from opening. It was able to be opened manually, which the mechanic on standby was able to do at the entry.  When I was texted, the mechanism was visibly more damaged than when I brought the car in and was missing pieces.   When I picked up the car, the trunk was ajar and the indicator light on the dashboard alarmed to advise me that my trunk was not secure.  Upon physical inspection, the lift gate had about a half inch of play, and was bouncing with every bump in the road.  I did not feel safe on the highway with the trunk not secure and the noises it made.  My trunk was secure and only required a diagnosis at drop off.  When I was quoted an unreasonable estimate of $1100, without a detailed breakdown to fix the lock I decided not to pursue the repair at Sansone. Closing hours came and went, and other than a text message, no agent contacted me to discuss my options, nor did they notify me that my car was ready for pickup.  I tried to call, and my call went unanswered. The only service I permitted was a standard oil change. They spilled oil all over my engine and my car wreaked of fumes on my drive home.    I have to say that the service department appeared to be overbooked and overwhelmed and I do not believe the appropriate attention and care was taken with my vehicle.  My vehicle came out with more damage than it had been dropped off with.  I am seriously disappointed with the service I received at Sansone Toyota.  Since servicing my vehicle there, every time I have called I have not gotten an answer and no one has called me back. The only redeemable part of my service experience was Dinahlee Rios, who asked the mechanic to check the trunk as soon as I pulled in to make sure it wasn't a quick fix.  She operated well under the pressure of a busy day, but at the end of the day, I was a very disappointed customer. read more

I rarely write reviews, but after my frustrating experience with Sansone Toyota, I feel compelled to warn others. I placed a $5,000 deposit on a new car on December 24th, for a custom build, and it turned into a complete nightmare. For five months, I received absolutely no communication about the status of my order. I called multiple times, left voicemails, but never received any return calls. After weeks of silence, I had no choice but to drive to the dealership on May 15th to get answers. To my surprise, I was told that the salesperson I had been working with had moved on--no notice, no follow-up. They assigned me a new salesperson, who assured me that my vehicle should arrive within another 45 days. I gave it some time, but after just 15 days, I called again, multiple times, only to be met with more voicemails and no return calls. I then drove to the dealership again, only to find out that the second salesperson had also left the dealership. At this point, I was understandably frustrated but was assigned a third salesperson Jorge Diaz who finally started communicating with me and empathized with my situation. After all this waiting, I found out that the vehicle they had ordered was not the custom build I had requested. Instead, it was a model with all the bells and whistles, in a different color and equipped with a panoramic roof--something I never asked for and was told Toyota doesn't even manufacture without it. It was a complete mismatch of my original order. The dealership blamed all their inefficiencies on Toyota the manufacturer. To add insult to injury, no one at the dealership could explain why they never placed my actual order or why they didn't communicate about the issues. I had been waiting for six months, and yet no one had the decency to call and update me. In a last-ditch effort, I called Toyota directly, but they said they couldn't help and transferred me to Analisa, a customer satisfaction representative, who assured me that there would be a resolution and assured me a call back in 24 hrs. However, she never called me back, despite repeatedly assuring me that she would. Eventually, after 7 days Sansone Toyota offered me my deposit back if I didn't want the car they were offering, which was not what I ordered. After six months of waiting, I decided to take them up on their offer and asked for my deposit to be returned. The entire experience was a waste of time, and it felt like I had been completely ignored. I would strongly advise staying away from Sansone Toyota unless you're fully prepared to deal with poor communication, a lack of accountability, and an overall frustrating and unprofessional experience. My experience with them was beyond disappointing. There was no follow-through, updates were nearly impossible to get, and the level of customer service was far below what anyone should expect from a dealership of Sansone's size. The last time I took my 2016 Corolla for maintenance, I was told all the tires needed replacing. I turned it down because of the expense as I also needed brake repairs. I did get a flat tire later that week and had it replaced at Mavis. They said the other tires were fine. Today I went for my next service, and I am told the tires are all good, despite them needing replacement last time. Now I wonder what services I end up paying for that aren't needed. read more

I purchased a 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid. Test drove the car on Saturday. Was to take delivery the following Thursday. Showed up. Did not receive paperwork. Started the car, check engine light came on. Turned the car off. Started the car again, check engine light on and warning displayed on dash about battery. Walked back in and gave the keys to the desk. Afet 1/2 salesman started car and took it over to service. Car never left the lof I asked for my deposit back and they refused. The car was not prepped for delivery. Stay away from this dealership. I normally don't write reviews but wanted to talk about my experience. We were looking to purchase the new Grand Highlander. Over a period of a month we were called and told these cars were in stock and every time we went down the same day they were reserved. The last time we went in, the sales guy told us he would take the showroom model and let us test drive it so we went down within three hours of that call. We get there and the guy brings out a used 2024 for us to test drive and tells us it's basically the same car. We were looking for the limited trim and the showroom had the platinum. We told the sales guy we weren't interested because it was out of price point and he continually pushed. When we asked about thinking on this overnight, he said we need to put down a $2,500 non refundable deposit to hold it. When we questioned why so much money and not refundable, he said "it's a hot car and we only take serious buyers". As we pushed more he would walk away to his manager and come back with "we can try and work with you on it if you want to buy the car". As the conversation kept going, he made a comment about getting pricing for us. I said, what pricing? The number is on this sticker. He said, no that's not the actual price. Come to find out, they charge a mark up on the GH's because they are popular cars. After this, we walked out. This sales rep continued to call us nightly asking us to come back in and started getting frustrated with us and became very condescending and rude with his remarks. We ended up calling around a few more Toyotas in NJ to find out all the rest sell at MSRP and only require a $500 refundable deposit to hold these. Terrible service center. I bought a Kia at sansone and had the full warranty still active. I went to drop it off for a service and they expected me to sign something saying I would pay two or $300 if I decided not to get a recommended service for whatever they felt was wrong with the car that wasn't under warranty. Basically saying if something's not under warranty and you decide not to get it fixed by them you have to pay this fee. Why would I do that? First of all my car was under full warranty so everything should be covered. When I said that to the girl at the front desk she said well I don't know. You don't know what? Is or is not everything under warranty still Yes or no? She couldn't answer. I asked her to get me someone who could answer and she did nothing. The place is full of scammers they never tell you the full story or truth and it's a little ghetto inside as well. I suggest you go 10 miles down rt22. We met with Mike McGovern mid May to shop for a new vehicle. We wanted a 4Runner but given today's market, we didn't know how likely that would have been, especially with the budget we had in mind. Mike was so patient, and walked us through everything we needed to know. He showed us some 4Runners they already had in stock at the dealership, but also gave us some options for a build that was on the way from the factory. After going back and forth and Mike helping us to understand what would make us happy and be cost effective, we decided to move forward with a brand new SR5 4Runner that was getting built and being sent to the dealership in June. Today we picked up the car, and all we can say is GOOD THINGS about Mike and this place. Everyone at this dealership is so friendly, and truly wants to see you walk out the door satisfied. During our final financial conversations, Tim walked us through the final numbers and paperwork. I have been to so many places that coerce you into buying additional warranties or packages on top of what you originally agreed on, when it comes to signing time. But that was NOT the case here. Tim was patient in describing our options for additional warranties and coverage, and gave us ample time in making an informed decision on what we wanted to add and what we did not want. Second I just serviced my last yesterday and i denied to change cabin air filter. It was dark out when I left, I reached home and try to open glove box and found out it was never placed back. Today, I visited Sansone dealership to test drive 2 SUV's. I'm in the market for a new car. My first process in this search, was online with all the things I want in my next vehicle. Once I narrowed it down, my next step, is to get into the cars and test drive them and explore everything from the infotainment system to the safety features. This week I started. All the manufacturers that I visited prior to Toyota, set me up with the car, let me test drive alone and let me explore, but not today! I walked in and met with Jose. He first asked if I has an appointment. I said no. Just walking in. I told him the two vehicles I was interested in. Highlander Platinum and the Rav4 Hybrid Limited. I also explained to him that today was just me doing more research. I guess as soon as I said that, Jose wasn't going to do much more. He pulled a Highlander Limited which was ok because it isn't that much different from the Platinum. He did not let me test drive alone. I was unable to explore the vehicle. He didn't even talk much about the vehicle. Next was the Rav4. He first wanted me to test drive a used one because he said it's the same engine. HELLO! I am here for a new one. He pulled the XLE. Said this is will be ok to drive because it has the same engine. It wasn't what I was looking for but I had zero choice. I really wanted to check out the limited version. Again, I could not drive this one on my own and he didn't touch base on any features either. Needless to say, I will not be coming back to Sansone ever again. read more

Regret coming here to get work done. My mom had bought a car here a couple years ago so decided to it would be the right place to come when the service due light came on. Experienced a lack of customer service and passive aggressiveness from a rep named Donna. I kept trying to ask a question about the services and pricing which was different than what I was told on the phone when I called prior to scheduling. She kept cutting me off and then kept trying to upsell without actually slowing down enough to answer my initial questions. She kept trying to rush me because I didn't want to do a pricier package. It was quite frustrating and I felt like customer service is not high on the business' priorities. This is a TOUGH market for buyers, especially those looking for a hybrid as dealer adjustments start at $3,000 and go up to $14,000 over MSRP. I've been looking for a few weeks, and was eyeing the 2023 Prius and the 2023 RAV4 Hybrid. I looked at probably 20+ dealerships in the tri-state area and also in MA and PA. There are few dealerships selling at MSRP and I found those to be in PA with seller territory restrictions so they could not sell to NYC customers. I went to two dealerships in NYC - one reasonable with a $2.6K dealer adjustment and another shady, unethical and unreasonable with a $10K dealer adjustment - and then I went to Sansone. 2023 RAV4 Hybrids are mostly accounted for (meaning before they even arrive customers have already put a deposit down on them and negotiated price). There were two left and we ended up negotiating and agreeing on a deal for one of them. Other reviews indicated Sansone sells at MSRP, but that didn't happen for this high-demand vehicle. There were a few dealer add-ons I wasn't needing (like a roof rack and VIN etching), but at least those are tangible items and not just a dealer mark-up for nothing. The adjustment itself was under $1K, which I would not pay under any circumstance other than this being the market reality. I think it's a great deal and I'm excited to pick up the car (and will update this post after the experience finalizing financing). Most importantly, in a market where dealers can be pushy, Bart and Stevenson were super professional, easygoing, and meaningfully moved on their initial deal adjustment offering. There was no unnecessary haggling back and forth. When I declined some other add-ons (like anti-theft and car seat protection), they balked a little, but respected my decision. TL;DR - Do your research; come in knowing what your OTD price is going to be; be ready to walk away; and come to Sansone Toyota and ask for Bart and Stevenson. ********** Update on 4/21/23: I ended up purchasing a vehicle from another dealership because they had the exact color and options I was looking for. Usually I avoid the Staten Island Toyota service like the plague because of crappy customer service, I think Sansone might be worse. I had made an appointment for a recall and was told it would be a 2 1/2 hour wait which was totally fine. My appointment was for 9:30, but I wanted to be earlier and got there by 9:10 because of the weather. While I know dealers get backed up with service don't overbook. My wait was a total of 4 1/2 hours which is ridiculous (from arrival to departure). There is no consideration for my time. I was probably pushed to the back burner because it was a recall and I wouldn't spend my money there. While the service advisor was still apologetic, they could check in on you and let you know the wait will be longer. read more

Staff at Sansone quickly found my recalls and immediately scheduled me for an appointment. In addition I added an oil change and tire rotation. Alex was the best sales representative that I had at any dealership in a long time. I recently was on the hunt for a used compact SUV, and had gone to at least 50 dealerships in a span of four or five months. I reached out with a general question in which they set me up with Alex almost immediately who helped me with the directions into the facility, and was very attentive, honest, and patient. He helped communicate everything that was needed when it came to buying a car. He was quick and respectful. He never made me feel pressured and gave me time to gather my thoughts alone. Not only did this dealership have many different lots organized by the make of the car (Kia, Nissan, Hyundai, etc), but they also had really amazing people from the finance people, to sales, to a random mechanic outside the building I was in. I found a car that was certified and had etch for theft which saved me money on my insurance. Alex helped every step of the way and stayed over 2 hours after they closed AND after those two hours, still helped me navigate the new features of the car! This place is a prime example of why auto dealers have such a bad reputation. For example, when we went there in 2022 the salesmen did not explain what was in the price, they tried to force us to buy by telling us that it's impossible to get a down payment back, and they gave us as little information about the car as possible. The manager offered us an incentive to make the purchase, but when the paperwork was given to us minutes later the offer was rescinded. Note that there is an optional $995 insurance type of charge for seat spills that no one points out is already included in the price. This was on top of the exorbitant supply-chain shortage surcharges. The Hyundai dealer next door was no better in that they wouldn't even let us test drive a car. read more

When I came in today, one of the guys told me that someone will be right with me and I waited for five minutes thinking that, as usual, they're gonna forget about me here.
